Nokia at their best again. Nokia support is abysmal and in many cases non-existent. Take for example a level 2 tech telling me to do a 3 finger reset which then wiped all my Web Video Widgets - which Nokia can't supply - and removed Qt from the phone so I can no longer install or use Ovi Store - which they, too, can't supply.
As to this being a bug with Gmail they are talking nonsense. I have my E71 sitting alongside my N8 and the E71 has always worked flawlessly with Mail for Exchange on my old phone, even my N95. On the other hand, N8 crashes when you reply to emails using MfE and Imap doesn't support push mail. They released this phone without thorough testing to stem the flow of negativity and to please their shareholders. They forgot about the most important link in this chain - us. Without us the company will not last. Period.

Is Yahoo Push email working consistently for anyone?

There are several threads about people having problems with Yahoo Push email. Many solutions have been offered, but posts seem to indicate done of them work consistentl and over time. I am wondering if this is just an isolated problem some people (including myself) are having, or if it is really widespread and not working for all or most people, but a lot of folks just don't care. People who have reported this to Apple and/or Yahoo seem to be told this is not a known problem.
So, if you do have Yahoo Push email working consistently could you give a brief reply to let the rest of us know it is something unique to our setup, use, or account.

Call iPhone tech support, and ask them to log a case for you. Be warned, however, that this doesn't seem to help... but let us know if Apple are able to provide an update that's worthwhile. Last time I called I was put through to a product specialist who -seemed- really interested in the issue, asked me to try some things (none of which helped, and all of which have been tried here by others) and call them back with results. Tried them, called back two or three times and left a message with the results, never heard back from them...
On previous calls I'd been told it was probably a Yahoo problem and to call them... Yahoo pointed me back to Apple. A common result from what I read here.

Beware scam email tricks trolling for you account info

i got an email today saying an ipod was ordered. a person put in a mailing list as the notification email address. the body appeared as legit apple page but the links download a logging program. dont open it or fill out any account info or it will be sent to the person trying to collect the info. ill try to post the link for everyone to see.

The diffrent apps "know" from which account you purchased them.
So you have got apps from your account and from your brothers account on your device.
I've got a simliar use. One account for the german appstore and another for the us store.

Can you change the icloud email address linked to you icloud account?

Not without creating a new iCloud account. If you want to do this, create a new ID with the email address you want to use, then go to Settings>iCloud on your phone and turn all data you are syncing with iCloud (contacts, calendars, etc.) to Off. When prompted choose to keep the data on your device. (If you are syncing iWork documents with iCloud, also open your iWork apps and turn off iCloud syncing and choose to keep the documents on your phone.) After everything is turned off, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. Next, set up a new iCloud account using your new ID, then turn syncing for your data (contacts, etc.) back to On. When prompted, choose Merge. This will upload the data to your new account.
This will not move your photo stream, however. If you have photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll and that you haven't backed up anywhere else you will need to save these before deleting the account. To do this, open your photo stream album on your device in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos to select them, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll. You can then delete the iCloud account and your photos will stay in your camera roll.

Is it possible to have push email on an iphone 4?

I have set up my own business domain's email address on the iphone (example [email protected] as opposed to Yahoo, google etc.) 4 yet it won't "push" email, instead it only shows me it when going into the mail area.
I just sent myself a test email aftersetting up and I only see this when going into mail" and it refreshes the account.
I need it to push so as soon as I receive an email, I get a notification. This worked fine on my previous HTC Desire using the K9 app so do I need a specific app for this on the iphone (I cant find the K9 app for Apple, think it was Android only)

Having to go to mail and then refresh messages is hardly ideal.
Google Active Sync will push mail, contacts & calendars from Google Apps accounts and Gmail accounts using Exchange protocols.

Emailing multiple links and attachments from SharePoint 2010

The issue I have is that if you want to send an email to someone internally with a link to a doc
from sharepoint you can find the doc in sharepoint 2010, tick the box then click 'email a link' BUT you can't tick two boxes so can't email two links at the same time. Related to this
also ( again unlike the old sharepoint 2003) there is no quick easy way to email multiple doc ( let alone two) as an attachment rather than a link when you want to send it externally.
I know you can open up different windows, drag across etc, but with the old system I could be in the middle of an email, click add attachment and with a couple more
click doc would be attached - as easy as adding something form my docs.
Is there any way we can do this with SharePoint 2010?

the url of the file. Then email the link in your Outlook.

You cannot change the properties for many files at a time. Because the properties may be different with each other. If they have the same properties, you can
put them in a folder or a “Document Set”, so that you can edit the properties of the folder or “Document Set” directly.

Push Email IMAP POP

I'm so confused...!
I just cant get anyone to explain to me how to setup my business email to be pushed to my iPhone. I have people telling me that I need to contact my ISP/HOST and ask them if my email account is push email enabled. Then I get told that my telco is the one that should be push email enabled. So which is it? my ISP or Telco.
Out of curiosity I decided to setup a yahoo account and sure enough, emails are instant. Now how can I do that with (as an example) [email protected]

Most hosts provide only POP access. Some do provide IMAP access (like Gmail on the iPhone).
Push email may be available for mail hosts with Exchange offerings. I'm sure it doesn't come cheap.
Push email is overrated for the normal user. Do people really need their email that quick? I can understand business people who rely on their email for their business, and missing an important email by 10 minutes would be bad.
Most people, having it check every 5-10 minutes will work.

Yes, the Push email features only work with MobileMe or with a Microsoft Exchange server ActiveSync setup.
The fetch new data settings are for POP, IMAP email accounts such as AOL or Yahoo! etc.

Email pushing not working correctly for office email - 3 seperate devices/carriers

We switched email hosts several months ago and since our email pushing has not worked correctly. Our host/IT guy has been very unwilling to help me through this (I get the pleasure of being the in-house IT source)
I personally am on AT&T have no problems with the other 3 emails I have set up on my blackberry. However I receive my work account one time a day at roughly 6:15. Another user is on Alltel and he receives spotty emails throughout the day, but his gmail account comes through instantly. The third user is on nextel and he receives his 2-3 times per day.
I began to think this was an email host issue since the three of us are all on different carriers, until I found out a fourth user, also on nextel, receives his emails fine.
Users 1-3 are on Outlook 07 on various versions of the Curve. We have all our messages to stay on the server.
User 4 is on the older nextel blackberry push to talk, and is not on outlook.
We do not have an exchange server. Our emails were all set up through our devices.
Any suggestions? The answers I have received through our carriers is to make sure that our messages are set to be left on the server. Everyone else at the office has given up - but for me this is the quest for the Holy Grail.......I'm determined find the answer!

Potential solution for windows for a side-by-side install. This works for me.
To setup a firefox install side by side so that links from external programs (like email) can open (so you don't get a "Firefox is already running but is not responding" message) do the following.
The solution entails the use of the -no-remote switch. Don't use it for the default browser. Use it for the non default browser.
I'll use firefox 3.6 and firefox 4.0 as examples but this should work for future versions.
+ Install firefox 3.6 and Firefox 4.0 in different directories. Eg.
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 4\firefox.exe
+ Open profile manager. Start > Run : firefox.exe -ProfileManager
+ In profile manager create Two Profiles.

+ In profile manager select firefox 4 as your default (assuming you want to default to the latest) and tick "Don't ask at startup"
+ Create two windows shortcuts.
* General: Mozilla Firefox 4 (default). Shortcut > Target: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 4\firefox.exe". Shortcut > Start In: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 4"
* General: Mozilla Firefox 3.6. Shortcut > Target: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -p firefox3.6 -no-remote. Shortcut > Start In: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox"
That's it. Links from external programs should now open in your default browser.

Cannot get link for contact to work. Rescue email address is no longer valid and I cannot remember my security questions to update it

I have read online that you cannot update rescue email address (mine is no longer valid) until you answer the security questions. I have clicked on the link for support on account management but it never opens. I am very upset because all I am needing to do is make purchases. If you are unable to remember your password, security questions, don’t have access to your rescue address or are unable to reset your password for whatever reason, your only option is to contact Apple ID Support, upon speaking to an operator you should explain that your problem is related to your Apple ID, this way you will not be charged for assistance, even if you don’t have an AppleCare plan.
You will need to show patience with the procedure and be prepared to demonstrate without question that the account belongs to you. Don’t expect access to be restored immediately and if you aren’t the owner of the Apple ID registered to the device the account won’t be reset.

If you want to change your iCloud ID or password on your phone go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated information. Note: this only deletes the account and any synced data from your phone, not from iCloud. Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing accounts it will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.

Did you set up virtual pads to assign the Simmons kit in layout mode? In layout, select the group controls tab in the screen control palette. Select the desired pad group(8, 12, or whatever) and drag it onto the layout area. Select a pad and press assign in the screen control inspector. Tap on a Simmons pad and it should be able to learn the pad assignment and note number. Repeat for the other pads. Hope it works for you.

Will the iPhone 3G and/or 2.0 software give push email for all email?

..instead of just MobileMe? I'd really like consistent push email for my gmail and yahoo! email accounts similar to the blackberry. Will I be getting this? I don't have a mobileme account nor desire to pay $90 for it.

Then if you don't want to pay for it, you are not going to get it.
Push requires the provider of the email service to give Push abilities. MobileMe allows you to tie it (which has Push) into your other accounts (that don't).
BTW, Yahoo does do push already (has since day 1 with 1st gen iPhones).
Google may one day knowing them.
