N8: question about screen lock during calling

I really like my N8 but there's annoying thing. While I'm calling, in the most cases the screen turns on and with my face I press the buttons on it. So I always end my calls unwantedly or turn on the speakers...
Is there any solution for that? I've not found any settings or software for that yet.

Sounds like the proximity sensor is faulty on your phone. You should have it checked out at your local Nokia Care point.

  • E7-00 screen lock during call

    Hey
    I have an annoying problem with my phone: the screen lock doesn't seem to work properly during calls. The lock goes off during calls, and very often the call is accidentally put on hold, ended, or put on speaker because of unwanted touch events.
    Is there a fix or workaround for this issue?

    Never had that issue. It seems a buggy prox sensor.
    Try installing PocketLock ( http://store.ovi.com/content/35377 ) (free) and then run it and back to homescreen. Try your finger near the E7 logo. My device locks when the finger is about 1cm far from the screen.

  • Screen lock during call

    I'm sorry if this has aleady been dealt with but couldn't find anything on it.
    Is there ANY way of getting the screen to lock when on a call as I'm constantly putting people on hold, mute and even dialing other numbers when on a call as my face touches the screen? I'm sure it can't just be me and my big face?!

    do you have a case on the phone? If so, take it off and try using the phone.

  • Screen Locking During Screen Share Access

    When I access my iMac from another Mac using Screen Sharing my iMac system is then open for anyone walking by to access.  Is there any way to use Screen Sharing for access and keeping the physical screen on the system being accessed locked?  I know there are ways to do this using a third-party VNC, but that requres using a non-standard port for access.  Is there some working-around for Screen Sharing, or perhaps some way to change the port that Screen Sharing is using (and if so, does this work?)???

    I don't understand what you're asking here... about the screen locking during a call "over the time" set.
    Could you please explain?

  • A question about screen updation of T61

    Hi there
    I got a question about screen updation.
    Currently, my T61's screen is 14.1 XGA TFT 1028x768, and it can't work, thus I am considering to replace it with the better 14.1" SXGA+ LCD SCREEN .
    However, I am a little concerned about the compatiblility problem, hence I just wonder whether the new SXGA+ screen can fit for my current T61 laptop or not?? Thanks a lot for your answers!
    Regards
    Peng

    you can buy it from IBM parts, and it will then sure to work for your laptop.
    Here is the manual that shows you how and what parts you need:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-67979.html
    P.S. If you have warranty this upgrade will void your remaining laptop warranty, as the LCD is not CRU (customer replaceable unit).

  • IOS 4.3 - screen locked during incoming call

    Hello, all!
    I have interresting problem after I update iOS 4.2 up to iOS 4.3 on my iPhone 4. Sometimes (1 time per each 10-20 times) when incoming call is received, ipone playing the ringtone, vibration is generated and I see on display usually information "incoming call from..." and slide button to receive call - then touch screen of iPhone becomes fully locked and I can not receive the call ! Hardware pushbuttons (power and volume control) still working, but display is fully locked! In this case it is only one way to answer the call - using bluetooth headset. Any other way and any other operations have no any effect - iPhone still playing rington and still waiting when I answer the call.
    This situation occurs aproximately on every 10th or 20th incoming call - i.e. one or two times per each day. And, of cource, this is usually very important call that i can not answer because of this stupid situation.
    The problem was detected after I update iOS 4.2 up to iOS 4.3 via iTunes.
    So, please tell by wich way it is possible to fix this bug and where I have to send notification to solve this problem in the shortest time?
    Thanks!

    I'm experiencing what is I believe to be the same issue with my iPhone 4, and have been suffering in silence for about a week.
    iPhone 4 model MC603X with Modem Firmware 04.10.01, 16Gb, cheap silicone cover, Vodafone NZ as my carrier.
    My screen locks after 1 minute of inactivity as it should with my settings. Perhaps 1 call in 5, or 1 call in 10, the screen wakes up and displays called ID information etc correctly, but I cannot swipe to answer the call. The touch screen simply fails to respond.
    If I push the power button briefly to silence the ringtone, this does not make a difference. The iPhone has to be locked (and screen turned off), then push a hardware button to wake up the display, and then I can swipe to unlock the device.
    This is only since iOS 4.3 and unfortunately iOS 4.3.1 has not changed this behaviour.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Cheers, Mike

  • HT201401 Screen won't lock during calls

    My screen lock stopped working! When I am on a call my screen won't lock, which causes me to dial. mute and place people on speaker. How do I get the screen to lock?

    might be a hardware defect with the proximity sensor.
    Try doing a hard reset: Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
    If that doesn't solve the issue, you could also try backing up the device and restoring the device as new.
    In that case, follow the steps in: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
    NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup. If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
    If you're not able to restore the device, this one might help: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
    Using his article will erase everything on the device, so make sure you have a backup!
    Good luck

  • Screen blanking during call - Galaxy S4

    Greetings
    I have BT Smart Talk installed on a Galaxy S4.  Installation went OK and application appears to lauch perfectly. When attempting to make a call, I can dial the number but immediately I press the green "phone up" button at the bottom of the dialler page, the screen goes grey (not black - unlike with a normal call) and there is nothing displayed at all - a completely blank grey screen.  I can continue with the call, but I cannot end the call and none of the buttons on the phone seem to work while this app is controlling the phone.  If I drag the screen from the top, I momentarily get the "end call" screen, but it is desensitised and the red "phone down" button does not work. The only way I can end the call is to power off the phone.  I have tried deselecting "Turn Off Screen During Calls" in call settings but this makes no difference to the BT App - only to the phone's own dialler.  Any thoughts?

  • Screen lock during answer

    How do I make my Thunderbolt screen stay locked during an incoming call? It's very difficult to retrieve the phone without touching the screen and accidentally rejecting the call. Same problem with calendar and clock alerts. Is there any way to change this?

    you may want to consider using a lockscreen widget. something like THIS.  i haven't used it, but i believe you can use it to set the lockscreen to a different type a access (as opposed to the very simple swype that answers calls). i too had this issue when pulling the phone out of my pocket. i often answered the call before even getting the phone out.

  • Screen unlocking during call

    During calls I'm unable to pass lockscreen where I have to enter 8 letters password.
    Screen is working I can change keyboard, run camera, return to call etc, but when I press password field to enter password nothing happens (keyboard is not showing). It passes right after disconnection. I'm using Z1C with KK 4.4, but I don't remember if it also happened on 4.3

  • Question about Workstation Performance during Scanning

    I am looking for information about workstation performace during
    scanning
    for inventory. My management wants information on impact before I can
    implement the service in our environment. We do have a very wide
    array of
    computers. Anything from Win95 P200 to Win2k/XP P4 3Ghz. Can anyone
    point me
    in the right direction?

    Inventory is minimal.
    The first scan takes the most performance. On a p200 we are talking
    about 5 minutes with little or no performance hit.
    After that, only changes are sent to the server.
    I wasn't able to find any doc that talked about performance, but you
    can read about inventory in the ZFD documentation.
    Hope that helps.

  • Question about using KeyFrames without calling a Keyvalue in the constructo

    I'm curious why in examples like this
              Timeline countdown = new Timeline(
                   new KeyFrame(javafx.util.Duration.ZERO,
                             (event) -> secondsRemaining.set((int) Duration.between(Instant.now(), finishTime).getSeconds())
                   new KeyFrame(javafx.util.Duration.seconds(1))
              );the first is KeyFrame(duration, event) then KeyFrame(duration)
    according to the 2.2, and this being pasted from the fx 8 docs is the constructors for KeyFrame
    KeyFrame(Duration time, EventHandler<ActionEvent> onFinished, KeyValue... values)
    Constructor of KeyFrame
    KeyFrame(Duration time, KeyValue... values)
    Constructor of KeyFrame
    KeyFrame(Duration time, java.lang.String name, EventHandler<ActionEvent> onFinished, java.util.Collection<KeyValue> values)
    Constructor of KeyFrame
    KeyFrame(Duration time, java.lang.String name, EventHandler<ActionEvent> onFinished, KeyValue... values)
    Constructor of KeyFrame
    KeyFrame(Duration time, java.lang.String name, KeyValue... values)
    Constructor of KeyFrameSo no keyvalues....?
    Example 1-5 Timeline Animation
    final Rectangle rectBasicTimeline = new Rectangle(100, 50, 100, 50);
    rectBasicTimeline.setFill(Color.RED);
    final Timeline timeline = new Timeline();
    timeline.setCycleCount(Timeline.INDEFINITE);
    timeline.setAutoReverse(true);
    final KeyValue kv = new KeyValue(rectBasicTimeline.xProperty(), 300);
    final KeyFrame kf = new KeyFrame(Duration.millis(500), kv);
    timeline.getKeyFrames().add(kf);
    timeline.play();I've been a little confused with hod KeyValues and KeyFrames play a role, but it seems like the value specifies on what we are doing, and what we are changing it to (rectBasicTimeline.xProperty(), 300); and the "Frame" is the duration and which "KeyValue?" So the KeyValue is the important part, or an event.
    It seems like the event takes place of the "KeyValue" so we don't need one? I see it says (KeyValue... values) and I never really thought about it, but that means as many values as needed?
    It doesn't, however, show that Events take the place of the KeyValues soo.... thoughts anyone?
    I've seen this posted by 2 members on here(who will most likely answer my question anyways :p) so I was curious how it all works, and if Event does replace a KeyValue, then I want to know when am I supposed to know in which classes this works on...?

    The syntax "..." in the type of the last parameter of a method (or constructor) indicates 0 or more parameters of that type. It's called "varargs", or more formally a "variable arity parameter". See [url http://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/java/javaOO/arguments.html]Arbitrary numbers of arguments in the Java tutorial, or the [url http://docs.oracle.com/javase/1.5.0/docs/guide/language/varargs.html]description of varargs from release 1.5.0 of the Java language (when varargs were introduced).
    A timeline animation is composed of a collection of KeyFrames. Each KeyFrame consists of a Duration (the time on the timeline for that "frame"), zero or more KeyValues, and optionally an EventHandler.
    The KeyValues consist of a writable property and a "target value" for that property.
    When the timeline animation runs, it "smoothly" changes the values of all the properties that appear in KeyValues. The aim is that for each instant defined by a KeyFrame, the value of any property specified by a KeyValue in that KeyFrame will be equal to the corresponding target value. Values at times in between KeyFrames are interpolated between the times specified by the KeyFrames.
    Additionally, when the time on the timeline passes the time specified in that key frame, and event will be fired to the event handler, if there is one.
    So your constructor call with a Duration and EventHandler matches the constructor with signature
    KeyFrame(Duration, EventHandler, KeyValues...)
    with zero KeyValues. This key frame doesn't specify any values to be "targeted" at that moment, but will call the EventHandler's handle(...) method when the corresponding moment on the timeline is passed.
    The code
    final KeyValue kv = new KeyValue(rectBasicTimeline.xProperty(), 300);
    final KeyFrame kf = new KeyFrame(Duration.millis(500), kv);creates a key frame at 500 milliseconds with a target value of 300 for rectBasicTimeline's x property. So the timeline will smoothly change rectBasicTimeline.xProperty from it's initial value at time 0 to 300 over a time period of 500 milliseconds (assuming no other KeyFrames in there).

  • N97 Screen Lock / answering call problem.

    I have an N97 with software version 11.0.021.
    If my phone is locked, and someone phones, I can either answer the call or unlock the phone.
    If I unlock the phone, all is OK. BUT if I choose to answer the call, when the remote caller hangs up, my screen stays black - unless I open the keyboard - but closing the keyboard causes the screen to go black again.
    The only way I have found to recover from this is to power the phone off and back on again...

    sillbit wrote:
    A common missed detail is that you can answer without unlocking, and without changing settings to answer with any key.
    The animated graphics when a call comes in actually mean something. You should just place your finger on the screen, and slide it in the direction the arrow leads, for the approriate action. So, to answer, place the finger on the screen, and slide it from left to right.
    Too bad the manual don't explain this properly.
    Exactly. The only thing that confuses people is the unlock that also shows up on the screen. This leads them to believe that the device is locked.
    I think it's not just the lack of detail in the manual but, they should do away with that "unlock" feature altogether from showing up when a call comes in. I note there's two modes here; two functions actually: hardware answer key and a software GUI.
    Since there's two means to answering the device, if your using the hardware key, it makes sense to have to unlock it first and, on the software means of answering, there's no need to unlock it as the swipe motion will answer the call.

  • Question about /var/lock/subsys/dbora

    Hello,
    I've been having a problem where ./dbora stop is not completely shutting down the database. I've done some debigging and discovered that this is because there is no /var/lock/subsys/dbora file. I've seen this file created in a lot of sample dbora scripts, ie
    touch /var/lock/subsys/dbora
    My question is why is this? Why does the file not get created when Oracle is started?
    I'm on Oracle 10G.
    thanks very much

    dbstart and dbshut are oracle supplied files which we use to start and stop the database. We create a small shell script which get placed in rc.d and that file called those dbstart/shut files to start and stop oracle services at boot time. "touch /var/lock/subsys/dbora" is an extra login which WE put in our shell script and it should not have any relation with starting and stopping the services. It totally depends on the shell script written by the DBA. I have this piece of code in my startup script and I can see this file on my system but even if i can't its not going to stop working.
    You first of all make sure what permission do you have on /var/lock/subsys
