N8 software update, fuction missing

hi everyone,
i have a question: my nokia n8 software was updated and since then i am missing the funtion "antworten als email" ("answer via email") if i want to answer an mms.
this is very bad for me, because i have my emails come in as mms to my phone and until now i could answer them with one click from all my nokia phones for years.
now, that has changed. after receiving the email as mms and reading it, i must close my sms folder, open my emails, check the emails, open the right email, wait a long time for the n8 to download it, and THEN i am allowed to click on "reply" to write back.
that is very very bad for me.
can anyone help me? is it possible to put the old software back on that phone somehow? or can mybe the nokia people just reimplement that function into the next update?
how can it be that a function just disappears??? whats the motivation behind that?
thank you very much!

since i done an update  a few days ago, i have lost the ability to get emails.
i deleted the account to set it back up again, but now i can't even set an account up
any ideas

According to your info, you have an iPad first generation and iOS 4.3. That version of iOS doesn't support OTA updates. And iOS6 is not supported on the iPad first generation.

  • HT4623 Under "General" the "Software update" is missing!!! why? and obviously I canot update.

Software update option is missing in the General menu, why is that? and I cannot update my software.
    HHHEEEELLLLLPPPP

Start iTunes on your computer and use the menu to check for an update to iTunes. If there is an update available download and install it. Then restart your computer.
Once your computer has restarted start iTunes on your computer and connect your iPad.
In the left column of iTunes on your computer select your iPad. In the right column select Summary and look for the Check for Update. Click on that if it doesn't bring the update message up automatically. Follow the prompts to complete the update. The update is a big file so be sure to have a good Internet connection. You might also have to disable your virus protection software and firewalls if either are turned on.
After you reach iOS 5.1.1 future updates for the iOS can be installed directly on the iPad over a Wi-Fi connection.

  • I am prompted to download iOS 5.1.1.  "software update" Is missing from "Settings".

I am trying to download an app for my son and I am prompted to download iOS 5.01.01. I don't have the option in settings to update my iOS. Any ideas?

If you are using iOS 4 (or earlier) there is no Software Update in Settings. That feature was first added in iOS 5.
To update you will have to connect your iPad to iTunes on a computer (preferably the one you sync with and backup to).

Is the option not there and im going to have to set this up by other means or have i somehow screwed up?
    Any pointers very much apretiated.

  • HT4623 Software update is missing from my ipad

I can not find the software button on my iPad it has disappeared what do I do?

    No it didn't disappear.
You only have the option if you are already running iOS 5. If you are trying to update the iOS, you have to use iTunes on a computer to update the iPad.
There are some important things that you should know before you update.

  • Reinstalling Tiger: Software Update Missing Many Updates

I've seen a few similar topics on this issue, but only in so far as Software Update missing an update here or an update there. I am currently reinstalling Tiger on a Power Macintosh G3 B&W that has been heavily upgraded. The system specs are as follows..
1GHz PowerLogix G3 (using MAChSpeed to enable full processor speed since the included CPU Director software won't work in 10.4.11)
    1GB of RAM
128MB Radeon 9200 Graphics card connected to an LG 1952 display and set to 1440x900 / millions of colors
I'd go on, but the remainder of the hardware upgrades should have no effect on Software Update to the best of my knowledge. Previously I had this machine running 10.4.11, and through the Software Update program I had installed all of the recommended updates, which included numerous security updates, Safari 4.0.3, and iTunes 8.2.1. Everything was running perfectly smoothly, but after having tested several software configurations and having decided on one in particular, I set out to reinstall Tiger from scratch in order to keep things as clean as possible. I've tried several different times now with the same results each time. Once the system is up and running, regardless of whether or not I install MAChSpeed before or after running Software Update, Software Update simply does not provided all of the updates that I believe are actually there. It did see and did allow me to install the following updates..
10.4.11 Combo update (I installed this one separately before any other updates)
    Java 1.3.1 and 1.4.2 Release 2
    iTunes Phone Driver 1.0
    Migration and DVD/CD Sharing Update
    Quicktime 7.6.4
    Security Update 2009-005 (PPC)
    J2SE 5.0 Release 4
Java for Mac OS X 10.4, release 5
    [ditto], release 6
    [ditto], release 7
    [ditto], release 8
    [ditto], release 9
Unless Security Update 2009-005 is meant to be a combined security update (doubtful), there are obviously several security updates that are missing. Also, I'm surprised that Software Update saw and installed Quicktime 7.6.4 but didn't see or install the latest PPC versions of iTunes or Safari. Safari 4.0.3 as I understand requires Security Update 2009-002, so naturally it would not see or install Safari without that update being installed first. While I don't necessarily mind installing updates manually (downloading them individually off Apple's support site and then installing by hand), I really prefer using Software Update to better automate the process. Up until now I have never had any problems with Software Update, but this problem is certainly aggravating. My primary concern is that I have no idea what updates are necessary and what updates are not necessary to ensure proper and relatively secure operation of my system, and I have no way of knowing whether or not Software Update will see any future updates (provided that Apple continues to support Tiger for a little while longer). If Software Update is missing crucial updates out of the gate, how can I be sure that it will see any further crucial updates that may hopefully be released?
I know that's part question / part rant, but I've been wracking my brain for the past few days over this one. Any information that could help solve this problem will definitely be appreciated, especially since my B&W is my preferred browsing machine.
Incidentally, my iBook, a Clamshell FW SE, is currently running the same setup that my B&W was previously running.. 10.4.11 with Quicktime 7.6.4, iTunes 8.2.1, and Safari 4.0.3, so as far as I can tell, this shouldn't be hardware related (my iBook is far less powerful than my B&W currently is). Also, a cursory glance at the Installed Updates list on my iBook definitely shows that my Software Update on my B&W is missing many updates.

I reformatted the drive first and did a clean install. I'm currently in the process of downloading the standalone installers for Safari 4.0.3 and iTunes 8.2.1. It's looking like that's the solution at present, but I'm still curious as to why Software Update won't see any iTunes or Safari updates within the current system configuration's capabilities (speaking to both apps possibly being cumulative). I can't see Software Update simply not having those updates because there is newer version out, if indeed they are cumulative, since that would mean that anyone reinstalling or upgrading on an older machine would be forced to perform some of the updates manually where not too long ago they would have been able to simply use Software Update as a "one stop" solution.
Oh well, maybe I'm just being too picky . I've had to deal with running around in circles to find software updates for manual installs for years with Windows systems, and Apple's "one stop" Software Update system was a wonderful, welcome change to that.

  • My Software Update is not working

All of the sudden the software update started missing some updates. I would see the on the apple.com/downloads, but for some reason like with the latest iTunes update, my "Software Update" told me there were no updates..I am also wondering (since I got 2 different answers with applecare) how the Software Update decides what programs it should notify a user that an update is ready. Does it just give an update warning on the installs that were registered, does "scan" of the apps folder (I doubt this one but an applecare guy told me this is how it picks up on what a MBP needs to be Up to Date).
Any suggestions why all of the sudden the software Update appears to go through its "searching" but it has missed the last 4 apple updates. Third party apps, I do not think it informs me of, but this is odd and applecare apparently has no idea what is going on.

The whole story; I took the old MBP into the Genius Bar. The "best" tech looked at all my problems with the computer, left and went to the back part of the store for 20 min, came back, tried to fix a few preference problems, but did not have much luck. He left again, came back and said; "we are going to get you a new MBP." You wil get the latest and with the config that I updated with my previous Mac. (Most is listed in my "Model" section of my posts. It arrived and he said he would install the latest iWork, iLife (which I can only find my old 2008 iLife), and whatever other updates he got when he did the software update at the Apple Store. He also transferred my files/folders/programs that were on my old computer, if they were not on the new computer. I had Office 2008 for Macs Student?Home edition and he installed that too.
The problems, besides the one I think I have with the update not updating, are now on my new computer. I am finding this out as I encounter one by one. What is also odd, he installed Office (a brand new program that was never opened, but I had it at home and took it in when I brought my old MBP in, and he was more than happy to install it). But, several of the apps/files when I follow them through Finder it shows the program being associated with one of the various icons in Office. I did not have Office until it was installed on the new MBP I just got. That is real odd and it must have to do with the way the genius transferred my data or installed Office for Macs 2008.
I am not sure if I am explaining myself because my knowledge with Macs is very limited An example of this (which is a totally different problem than the update problem so maybe I am confusing the issue). Anyway, for example, the Canon folder in Finder—if I click it once it goes to the next column and lists the files that are in the Canon folder like Printer Set-Up, ScanGuide, etc. If I click one of these, let's say ScanGuide for example, it opens in the next column and the icon that is associated with the ScanGuide is Office PowerPoint.
As far as having the latest program versions, yes on many I do have the latest, but the guy at the Apple Store did a big update (I assume) before he transferred my data. However, I did not get iTunes 9.1.1 and one other download that I forget right now.
Another odd thing is that the genius told me I would get applecare student discount, iWork, and he said all computers come with iLife. I had been through a lot of problems with the old computer and they felt bad once they looked up all the times I was in, the items they had to replace, and I am sure the fact that the Executive Secretary lady in Austin had helped me several times throughout the 3 years I had the computer. I called the manager tonight to tell him I did not get iLife, and he could not beleive that so I told him to talk to his employee--the genius that took care of ordering the new Mac, installing and transferring my data on my old MBP. My old ILife was still in a Folder where he put all the transferred data. The manager told me iLife09 is on one of the gray DVDs that came with the computer, so I will try to find ILife 09.
I think I confused the matter more because the whole ordeal has been a long and complicated one.
Think I should wait before I trash...com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist? As far as the receipts, I have done nothing with that file. I really try to not get too involved with getting rid of things unless I know what I am doing. With my last MBP, I stopped at the last version of Tiger because going to a new OS (Leopard) worried me because it took me so long to get the hang of Tiger. With this new MBP I had no choice, it came with 10.6.3

Started a Itunes software update this morning which didn't work.  Now Itunes will not open at all.  I get the following message."The program can't state becasue MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer."

There are a couple of options that I know of to fix the issue.
One is listed in this thread - https://discussions.apple.com/message/24606478#24606478 - and involves uninstalling iTunes and related components and then re-installing iTunes.  You will need to read the instructions in the thread to see the correct uninstall order.
Second option is use System Restore to set your system back to a date prior to the iTunes update.  I did this before finding the thread mentioned above.
Not sure exactly what the problem is but I know, after a search, that MSVCR80.dll was indeed already installed on my computer.

  • Software Update not finding missing loops

I've just updated my MacBook Pro (OS X 10.6.8) from iLife 09 to iLife 11.
In Garageband most of the loops are missing (greyed out). When I click on one I'm given the option of downloading later or now. When I choose 'now' it opens Software Update which searches for updates and tells me that all my software is up to date. If I click on a missing look again the message says that the software instrument or Apple Loop is currently being installed and that I should open Software Update for additional information.
How do I install all the missing loops if Software Update is telling me all my programs are up to date?

  • Missing packages in Software Update

    Hello,
I wanted to report a problem with software update. We have multiple different T540p models here at work, some are i7s and some are i5s. We do a fresh clean install of Windows to remove all of the bloatware, then run system update to fetch all of the drivers. The i7 models pickup all of the drivers fine, while the i5 models are missing some software packages. I believe system update works by associating your machine type/id with the backend. It will then give you a list of all of the drivers/software required for your system.
The only missing package I noticed is the Hotkeys Features Integration with 8.1 . I know this can be downloaded manually but wanted to pass this along.
    Product ID: 20BE004FUS
    Serial # isn't needed
    Thanks.

When you say "FN Key Manager", are you talking about Hotkeys Features Integration, or something else?
Are you deploying Win7 or Win8.1?

Okay so I asked someone from apple and they said that the software update icon is gone but its functions have been merged with the app store icon on the settings menu. Crisis averted haha!

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you're updating via wifi, place your iPad close to your router to preclude getting a corrupted download.
