N8 speech application bug

Hey guys,
I know this is out of topic but I can´t stand this bug anymore...and I am unable to find appropriate thread for it....
how come is whole SPEECH application on N8 so poor???
first off, you´re totally unable to remove **bleep** Martin´s disturbing built-in voice...
then once I try to download let´s say US English pack along with one of available voices, it just says UNCOMPATIBLE with the phone...though it´s right from Nokia site under Nokia N8 speech options...
any opinions?

A bit late, but came across your question and think I can answer it, IF the "software" you were using was Dragon/Nuance. Nuance screwed its Mac customers by selling its software to Snow Leopard-and- prior OS users, then refused to put any effort or money into making it compatible with Mountain Lion, Lion, etc. So, if that's the issue you're dealing with, your only choices are to re-install your old OS, buy the latest ripoff from Nuance for Mac users, or use the native capability that you'll find in Maverics, etc.

here in Quebec they implemented a new law for the use of cellular in cars... So for the phone, the star trek look gonna be ok i guess... But for the email part, I was wondering if there is a Text to speech application available for the blackberry?

There are services to do that. You have to buy a subscription, and after that you pay per message read. A Data connection is required since it's web-based.

MDNSResponder Client application bug

i've not been able to track down an answer to this issue mDNSResponder. i'm running 10.7.4 on an MBAir 11" i7 (last summer's rev). it's running in a work environment (my university) where there is a lot of multicast DNS traffic (i've got ipfw filtering out the vast majority of it). on to the problem (or item of concern): i have many entries in syslog that read:
Jun 26 19:26:12 [hostname] mDNSResponder[12]: Client application bug: DNSServiceResolve(dc:2b:61:8e:84:ea@fe80::de2b:61ff:fe8e:84ea._apple-mobdev._tc p.local.) active for over two minutes. This places considerable burden on the network.
these entries are constant with about 10 with matching timestamps, at least every 2-3 minutes; sometimes more than 10 and every minute instead of every couple of minutes).
the only things that change are the mac addresses (presumably) of the DNSServiceResolve things. google has not been much help, the closest i've come are to references to a brother printer that causes similar issues (but it's a brother.local or some such line, not _apple-mobdev._tcp.local) and some mention of issues connected to wifi sync'ing of iOS devices---none of my iOS devices are setup to sync w/ this particular computer and i've confirmed that in iTunes i have checked the box to prevent iphones and such from syncing automatically.
other items to note:
- i have a second machine at home that is setup as nearly identically as can be (can't guarantee it's exact, but it's **** close) and it does not have these have these entries in the console.
- on the work machine i edited the mDNSResponder plist to disable multicast advertisement thinking this issue might be lots of other iThings on the university subnet trying to connect to my machine. no change in the error message.
so the questions are, what is causing these syslog entries? how do if resolve the root problem?

does anybody know what this means?
mDNSResponder[30]: Client application bug: DNSServiceResolve(Brother\032DCP-9045CDN.pdl-datastream.tcp.local.) active for over two minutes. This places considerable burden on the network.
It seems to come up regularly in my console and stop my machine form sleeping (I suspect).
I did remove and reinstall the Brother drivers etc. but no luck

Change Agent: I have a problem since 10.6.1-2; Missing bundle identifier. I note you had this with the Brother computer.

And All the other apps Receipts I have installed over several months/years are there as well.
Could this be a OS 10.6.2 bug... ? (I hear 10.6.3 is just around the corner...?)
I have used the VMWare forum... they say it definately is NOT VMWAre. I disabled the Helper Daemon... still got the messages.
It did not happen in 10.5.X. Only in SNL.
Nothing slows down... after start-up, SNL all runs fine.
It just bothers me that so many error messages occur at start-up
Any ideas?

Workaround for MailTo Yahoo! Mail Helper Application bug?

I don't know if there is an active bug report for this, but for Firefox 8 with the MailTo Helper Application set to Yahoo! Mail, choosing [i]File: Send Link[/i] opens the Yahoo mail form and inserts [b][i]mailto:?To=[/i]<link>[/b] into the [b]To:[/b] field, instead of simply inserting [b]<link>[/b] into the Body.
I tried setting up a new MailTo Helper Application via a Javascript similar to those prescribed here: [url]http://www.davidgilson.co.uk/2009/09/make-webmail-firefoxs-default-mail-client[/url], but Firefox did not seem to respond to the script.
I also installed GmailDefaultMaker (which also supports Yahoo Mail and several other webmails) and tried to use that to straighten out Firefox's Yahoo Mail setup, but it accomplished nothing.
Working with the preferences in About:Config got me nowhere.
Editing MimeTypes.rdf with Windows XP Wordpad was promising. (Notepad doesn't work due to the wrong kind of character encoding.) Replacing every instance of "http://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?To=%s" with "http://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?Body=%s" results in [b][i]mailto:?Body=[/i]<link>[/b] being inserted into the Body. That is an improvement, but nowhere could I find enough documentation about MimeTypes.rdf to figure out how to get rid of [b][i]mailto:?To=[/i][/b].
(For documentation, there is [url]http://kb.mozillazine.org/MimeTypes.rdf[/url], but that is incomplete.)
Does anyone have a workaround?

3D is equal to the = sign in the windows character map and is being written effectively twice, once in its windows format and the other in unicode, this makes the html invalid and unreadable by some readers and fails all validators that we've have put it through.
Some applications may be able to correctly determine the duplicate nature of the characters and render the html but not all.

Copying or exporting an application - bug? LOVs not getting set in reports

Hi all, I apologize if this has been on here before, I thought I may have seen something about it before, but my search turned up empty.
When I copy an application, or export/import it -- it seems all the LOV based items in my reports (IR or otherwise I think) don't get set. For example if I have a query returning a data value back as 1 or 2, and I have an LOV to translate that to 1 = Male, 2 = Female -- and I have it set to display the value of the LOV for the value -- that is seemingly getting lost in the copy.
It's extremely painful to have to go to my new copied app and set everything manually again. And this is horrendous for an import/export from dev/test/production moving.
Any thoughts/ideas how to resolve? Is it an APEX bug?

I just upgrade to 4.0.2 in hopes it would solve my problem, but unfortunately it doesn't. What could it be about my app? Again, here's what is happening: it seems that anywhere I'm using a "display based on LOV" column in a report (maybe just on IRs, can't find any on non IR reports) -- when I either export/import my app, or simply copy it in the same workspace, the Named LOV attribute is not set in the copy/import -- so the reports don't show my display values.
Could it be something about my LOVs? Maybe I should try to recreate some of them?
I wonder is there somewhere in the export file that I could look to see what's missing/going on? Weird thing is that when I ran a copy of my app, there was at least ONE report column that as showing correctly, but when I go and edit that column, I can see the LOV is NOT selected, and I can't save it without selecting one! So it's very strange, and unfortunately 4.0.2 doesn't solve it.
I'll have to try to create a new lov and do a test. But this is a big deal because I can't move my app to from DEV to TEST or PROD if I have to go into it afterwards and change all the LOV based columns. I suppose a work-around would be to change all my queries to get the display value themselves instead of relying on the LOVs....I wonder if that would be more or less efficient?
No one else has seen this issue?

I found a nasty bug! Applications in iOS 5 Photos
to notice the bug when you take several pictures and then delete some!
10 to take third and delete the app will continue to report the total quandtidade! 10 and not 7!
Has anyone noticed?

2.1 is the version of APEX that is built into Oracle Express Edition (XE).
There are threads in this forums about upgrading it to version 2.2.1, but it is not supported and may not be a good idea.
However, the only thing preventing you from running the Bug Tracker on your version is the installation process.
Version 2.2.1 has a new application packager that lets you make a single install script that installs the application plus all supporting objects.
To install the Bug Tracker on XE I first installed it on a server running 2.2.1 - like apex.oracle.com.
Then I exported the application without its supporting objects.
Then I took the scripts that installed the database objects and images and made my own scripts from them.
Then I could run those scripts on XE and install the application.
To make it easier for others, I zipped up my scripts and put them here:

That should be easier than trying to upgrade your APEX version.

After installing Snow Leopard the speech application keeps quitting

Hi everyone, I have recently installed Snow Leopard on my 06 iMac, installed all the latest updates.
I then found that when I try to set up voice activation application: system preference–speech.
The application opens for a few seconds and then unexpectedly quit. As I'm studying I use Acrobat reader
to read documents back to myself. I am not sure if it has anything to do with my machine being a 32-bit machine, and Snow Leopard
is mainly a 64-bit operating system. But I also find that the Read aloud option in the Acrobat reader does not work
and causes acrobats also unexpectedly quit.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on?

Audition speech alignment bug, confirmation request before submitting a report

I am looking for someone to confirm a bug for me before I submit a bug report.
In Audition CS6 when trying to use automatic speech alignment it does not seem possible to produce a result unless checking a "add aligned clip to a new track" option. In other words audition will not modify a track that I want to be changed even after running through the alignment procedure. If I choose "Add aligned clip..." it will make a new track and it will be aligne
d. If this is by design why to have a new track option? If this is by design how do I do successful roundtrip with PPRO?

If you do not choose to add the aligned clip to a new track, Audition will simply add the new file to the Files Panel. When the process completes, look at the Files Panel to find the newly created asset.
From here you can then save the new file to the format of your choice and then import that into Premiere.
If you do choose to add the file to a new track, you can then choose Multitrack > Export to Premiere Pro to continue the roundtrip process.

Duplicate Alias for Application (BUG?)

We have noticed that APEX (v3.0.1) allows you to have multiple applications with the same application alias's has anyone else discovered this?
In FLOWS_03000 I cannot see any unique constraint for alias.
Might be a issue as different application id's will point to same alias

Not within a given workspace. Across workspaces this is allowed in which case you may have to use the &c= argument in the f call if the URL uses an application alias. Further elaboration here: Re: ERR-7620: When User tries to access application in development

Application IDs don't point to an alias -- aliases resolve to a specific ID within a workspace.

Using FileUpload component in Internationalized application (Bug?)

Good part of a day, community.
Is there bug in the component?
Page Encoding is UTF-8
Locale Encoding is Windows-1251
Browser is Mozilla FireFox 1.5.0.7
If I have page without FileUpload component everything works ok.
But when I place on page FileUpload component character encoding become corrupted.
I have made test page.
Place on page TextArea, FileUpload, button components.
Enter into TextArea any text in locale encoding different from English. I have used Cyrilic Windows-1251
Push the button and you will see text in text will be corrupted.
Delete FileUpload component. Everything will be ok
Does anybody deal with tis issue?

I believe this is bug: 6453360. It has been fixed but only in Netbeans Visual Web Pack version. This fix has not been backported yet.

Application BUG in Killer Network Manager

I am using the MSI Z87-GD65 Gaming with the integrated Killer NIC E2200. The problem is, the last few versions of the Killer Suite were rather useless for me, cuz I can't use the bandwidth control anymore. Since Qualcomm broke up with Ookla I have to adjust the upload and download speed manually, but I can't do it anymore.
If I try to adjust upload speed to 0.37 Mbs and download speed to 2.97 Mbs and try to apply the changes, the bugged software changes the values to 37,00 Mbs (up) and 297,00 Mbs (down).
Did anyone else notice such a behavior?
By the way: Before I have posted in this forum, I'd checked the Qualcomm website. My plan was to submit a ticket but the whole killer technology section is gone!!! oO

Associate file type with application BUG.

Associate file type with other application causes FileVault to prompt that said app 'can't be opened because it is from an unidentified developper'
This happens when I try to associate TIFF's with Adobe Photoshop, or PDF's with Acrobat Pro.
It does this through "get info > open with:" and when you let the app itself change the association (IE Acrobat Pro prompted me if i always want to open pdf's with it, after that, when i double click the file fileVault gives me the same message.
It's just plain annoying to have do drag each file onto the right icon in the dock.

It looks like both approaches are similar and will both work.
Persistent Handlers are probably overkill. They will do what you need and more, but are a more complicated. I would recommend sticking with the two approaches discussed if you simply want to run your application with a default program.
Although some CVI users may have done this in the past, you may have more luck posting on the MSDN forums or a 3rd party programming forum.
