  • Cannot Access IP Web Browser Configuration Page OfficeJet 8600 Plus

    Wireless Connection
    Hi:
The printout of wireless network test page shows IP address for HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus as: http://192.168.1.104 (The HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility v4.3.0.002 also shows: 192.168.1.104)
When I try to access http://192.168.1.104 with either IE 9 or Firefox 10 I get an error message: "The website is unable to display the webpage"
But, on the same computer I CAN access  http://192.168.1.103 HP Officejet 6480 web browser configuration page with either IE 9 or Firefox 10
Why I can't access the web configuration page: http://192.168.1.104
    Thanks
FYI: I set the router to various other network modes, channel widths, channels and ssid broadcast on/off, and also removed power from router and printer, reconnected power and restarted computer, all these efforts did NOT allow access to http://192.168.1.104

On the front of the printer: Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.  Run it.
Next, on your PC, delete all instances of your printer in Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Finally,  re-add the printer this way:
    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing. Get its IP from a Network Test printed from the front panel of the printer.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Devices & Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.

  • Quick way to format text cut and pasted from a web browser into Pages?

I work a lot by cutting and pasting text from web browsers into my word processor.
When I was using Word, I had built a very useful macro that allowed me to re-format the font, font size, colour, line spacing etc, as well as to remove hyperlinks, all by pressing one keyboard shortcut.
Is this possible in Pages? I've tried Paste and Match Style, and Paste Paragraph Style, but they only seem to solve half the problems.
Surely this must be a common problem? I've had a look in the discussion forums, but can't find anything...

    arthur,
I'm not having any trouble deleting links. Click on View > Show Invisibles. If there's a space following the link, put your cursor to the right side of the space, click, then drag to the left so that you highlight the link. Then just hit delete.
Or, if you want to have a web or email address in your copy without it being a live link, highlight it, then click on the Link inspector > Hyperlink button > and UNcheck +Enable As Hyperlink+.

  • N97 Mini Web browser - Multiple pages

I got my N97 mini as a gift a few days ago. I've only ever used Nokia and I absolutely love the phone so far, but I'm having some challenges trying to open multiple web pages at a time. I've only been able to do this once as a result of a pop up window from a previous page. Is there a standard way to do this?

  • Babylon - uninstalled (add/remove), deleted from search engines, register cleaned, about:config resets, homepage/browser start page reset, etc., etc. etc

I have followed all the various methods posted here to remove Babylon. Disabled/deleted extension, uninstalled (add/remove), deleted from search option, reset about:config. deleted any folder in program file associated with Babylon, uninstalled Firefox, reset Firefox, run cc cleaner and spyware S&D. All works fine, with one exception. Even after changing homepage, BABYLON search will still launch when I reopen. HELP!
No one from Mozilla Support can help? What the....

In the default php.ini is set open_basedir which limits work with php only to few directories (and directories bellow them). There is set /srv/http, /home,/tmp and /usr/share/pear by default.
To allow your vhost you should add /data/www or set empty value.

  • E71x - web browser crashing

I've had a Nokia E71x for about 2 years now, and I really and truly love this phone. However, about a week or so ago, the web browser started crashing on me. I will try to get it to load, it will start connecting, and shortly after establishing a connection, it just closes.
I've browsed both this forum and the rest of the internet regarding this issue - for this particular phone. I've seen posts by other people in other forums, with no response. I'm really hoping I can get some kind of resolution here. And I do not consider getting a new phone resolution - that's not what I am looking to do. The phone itself works perfectly fine. I just cannot go on the internet at all.
Any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you.

not sure if this will still be helpful to anyone, but I just managed to "fix" these weird symptoms on my wife's year-old E71x by doing this:
    - Check all settings, all fine/unchanged from working, none make a difference. Ovi Store DOES WORK to browse and download apps, so we know it's neither the operator or Wi-Fi network connections.
    - Call ATT tech support, who send a new activation code to the phone, no change (except shutting off the phone and disconnecting the call ;-)
    - Call ATT tech support again and get a transfer to a higher-level tech, who says we should try switching SIM cards to be sure that the card is not the problem, and they will call us back after their next call to see how this process goes.
    - Run the suggested test w/ other SIM cards; no effect. E71x still will not connect to Google, Facebook, etc. via the "Media Net" default browser, but Ovi Store still works fine over both Wi-Fi and 3G.
    - Put SIM cards back in correct phones and test again; no difference (my Pantech works, E71x no web browsing).
*********** and the steps that actually seemed to work ***************
    - From the main screen, press "Menu" button or softkey
    - Press "Options" softkey from the Menu
    - Select "Download applications" from the Options menu. This should open a browser window to a site that doesn't look to be fully operational anymore.
    - If they browser doesn't kick you out at this point, press the "Options" softkey and select either "Go to web address" or "Bookmarks" to open a useful web page.
I don't think it should hurt to just try this first. Sorry for including all the other troubleshooting steps we had to try before this, but if this solution doesn't work then the others are probably worth trying too. Saved me having to backup, and restore everything on the phone anyway.
I hope this helps someone; this was a strange and frustrating problem because it came out of nowhere, the phone worked and then it didn't, with no obvious change other than browsing various web pages. I suspect something in a page cache or something redirecting to a bad loop, but I don't know how to troubleshoot any further into that - and as long as it works, I guess I don't have to this time.
MODERATOR'S NOTE: Post has been edited as it intended to discuss a procedure that can only be done by a Nokia technical expert.

  • Passing through XML in HTML forms without it being displayed in Web Browser

    Dear all
I have some MapViewer XML stored in a variable, which I wish to pass through a HTML form. However whenever I insert the variable into the form and run the procedure, my web browser starts reading the actual XML and treating it as HTML, since it is only part of a complete XML script. Even if it was a complete XML script, it would still try and display it. Is there away of making sure the value is passed through without being read by the browser?
    For example:
    PROCEDURE DISPLAY
    AS
    var_xml VARCHAR2(32767) :='<theme name="theme_county"/>';
    htp.print('<INPUT TYPE = "hidden"
                      NAME ="var_xml"
                      VALUE = "' || var_xml || '" />Then causes the output to the browser to become:
    htp.print('<INPUT TYPE = "hidden"
                      NAME ="var_xml"
VALUE = "<theme name="theme_county"/>" />The browser is of course reading the XML as HTML.
    Kind regards
    Tim

    Dear all
I have now resolved the problem by submitting values which can then be used to recreate the xml in another function, rather than actually submitting the xml itself through the forms. This makes more sense and avoids people having to see any of the xml.
    Kind regards
    Tim

  • "Use Firefox Web Browser (default)" instead of trying to render a page starts FF again

Expected behaviour: Firefox actually trying to open a document.
What happens: Firefox, ''as the default option'', re-feeds a document to itself in a roundabout way that leads only to repeating the same choice. If "Do this automatically..." box is checked, this causes ''spamming tabs or windows recursively''. Which certainly constitues a bug.
Happens e.g. when trying to open HTML pages that have ".asp" extension due to being saved with original server filenames. Which also is the easiest way to reproduce this bug. Same files renamed or ''hard''linked as "*.asp.html" open normally, thus it happens only due to "Open with: Use Firefox Web Browser (default)" choice not working correctly. I didn't find addons to circumvent this, either.
Version: 26.0 (Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0) - but a web search shows that the same happened 10 years ago and under Windows.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that turns off some settings and disables most add-ons (extensions and themes).
''(If you're using an added theme, switch to the Default theme.)''
If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu by clicking on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item:<br>
    [[Image:FirefoxSafeMode|width=520]]<br><br>
If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''

  • N8 Symbian Anna, sometimes keyboard missing in web...

Has anyone had a problem where the keyboard is missing when using N8 own web browser and trying to write password and username to some website?
I've got such a problem. If I type in the username and directly tap to the password field, the keyboard does not pop up. Also if the keyboard is there, it is impossible to insert a password, because you only can put the first letter from the input key. Only way to get the keyboard back, is to close the browser and open it again. But If you do again as i described above, the keyboard disappears again.

Well, I've finally solved the problem.  And it wasn't easy.
Because of the fact that I couldn't type anything I couldn't log in to my Nokia-account. However, my phone took me to a Nokia login page directly after I had installed Anna 1/2 and 2/2. There was no way I could get past that login screen, I couldn't abort the login process anywhere. Rebooting didn't help either. I was completely stuck
Eventually I chose to remove my sim card for a minute. Rebooted it, entered my code and rebooted it again. This time, when asked whether I wanted to start the phone in offline-mode I agreed. Finally I was then able to get to my Menu and to all of my phone's submenus.
However, I still couldn't type anything anywhere.
What caused the problem? Swype. Thank you Nokia, for not pointing out beforehand that my situation was caused by not disabling Swype BEFORE you start your Anna update process.
Apparently, Swype simply blocks the pop-up of the qwerty-keyboard. However, by the time you notice the problem AND you know that it's due to Swype, you cannot simply disable Swype anymore because you get stuck in the Nokia login-process and you will be unable to get to the menu where you can disable Swype. That was a nice little loop I got caught up in.
So how do you solve all of this? Do as I did and as I described above. Take out your sim-card, etc etc. Good luck and let me know if my solution worked for you.

  • How to set a New Tab as the start page in Firefox and lock in my choice of web sites

You may set the New Tab page Firefox shows when opening a new tab as its start page, and you can lock in the web sites you want displayed there.
I set my browser to open a New Tab as its start page and have locked in six destinations from which to choose on my start page.
First I open Firefox and open a new tab. Then I delete any open tabs other than this New Tab. Optionally, I can also set a second tab to open to a specific web site
Next I go to Tools and Options (or Edit and Preferences in Linux) and select the General tab on the far left. Click on
    [Use Current Pages].
Each time I open Firefox it will open showing me the New Tab.
I can select from pages that I have already visited the six pages I want to have appearing on my New Tab every time. Supposing there are no pages locked in yet, and I don't want the site in the top left. I hit the X in its thumbnail's top right corner, it disappears and every other site thumbnail moves up and there is a new site appearing in the sixth slot. Note that if I have visited one page frequently, it may appear more than once, or be replaced by itself. If that happens, just keep deleting until the page you want shows up.
If I find a site that I want to save, then there is a thumbtack in the top left corner of the thumbnail. It is black, but if I click it it turns blue, and the thumbnail is a keeper.
This web site is in the second row, second over, but I want it to be up on the top row. Just drag and drop and the two sites exchange places. Make sure it has a blue thumbtack. The lock-down thumbtacks and delete X symbols appear in the top left and top right, respectively while the mouse is hovering over them.
It is possible to delete a saved site, and it is possible to undo the thumbtack. Simply click the X to delete or click the blue thumbtack to unlock the site and turn the thumbtack black.
You may choose to tack down a few sites and let the remainder float in and out, driven by your browsing history.
Through my use of this approach, I have instant access to my club's web site, two Webmail sites, and some other often-visited places on the Web, all in one start page.
About the only thing I really don't need there is a Google search box, for if I enter my search terms in the address bar I get the same result as if I had specifically typed in the search box.
Some add-ons, often potentially unwanted programs (PUPs), will replace the Firefox about:newtab (address of the New Tab) with eBay, Facebook, Twitter icons among others, and a different search engine. These icons may have a nicer appearance than the default Firefox New Tab, but you may also be looking at extra, unnecessary work for the computer, especially if behind the pretty icons there is a hidden agenda.
Personally, I would stay clear of these add-ons, and perform some scanning with an up-to-date antivirus and antimalware software.

If this is not a pinned (App) tab then the home page should open in that tab.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • JDev902: How to make it NOT start up a web browser on debug start?

In my JDeveloper setup, when I click on the bug to start my application, it starts up the embedded OC4J and eventually finishes initializing it. I then go to my already running web browser and request the application URL. This works fine.
My colleagues, however, get slightly different behavior when they click on the bug, at some point during that process it actually starts up another instance of a web browser and tries to go to a particular web page. We all find that very annoying and would like to turn it off. Fortunately for me, it doesn't do that to me. What do they have to do in their environments to make that NOT happen? We don't want it to start another web browser instance when we debug the application.

You'd think if the field was blank, it wouldn't do this at all.
I looked at my configuration, and the field is blank.
I went to my coworker's system, whose field was also blank, and who is getting this annoying behavior, so we changed the field to "aaaa". This works. It doesn't bring up the browser window. It does, however, still print out a line in the messages window, like this:
    Target URL -- http://<ipaddress>:8992/felix/index.jsp
I do NOT see this message.
So this workaround helps, as it avoids the annoying symptom, but I still wonder WHY I never had this problem, and why I don't see that "Target URL" message, which seems to be related. Both of us have the "Default run target" in our projects set to the same JSP page.

  • Losing right edge of page in web browser

I am running into a problem displaying a pdf file in a web browser.  The problem is that the far right edge of one of the pdf's 11 pages gets cut off when the pdf is opened in a web browser.
The one page that is losing its right-hand edge is wider than the other 10.
This problem happens in Adobe Reader version 8 and version 9.  It happens when opening the pdf with FireFox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer.
Is there a property that I need to set that will cause the horizontel scroll bar to appear for pages that are wider than the browser window?
    Thanks.

The best approach is to remove all positioning, top, left and z-indexes.
Use CSS margins, padding and floats to align elements on the page.
While you learn CSS, you might find it easier to start with a pre-built CSS layout that has all the columns and containers you will need for your project.  Then it's a simple matter of inserting images and text into your layout.
