N80(02) RM-92 v.5.0719.0.2

Please help me quickly i'm in a big problem
It's the first time for me to update my phone i had arabic language in it but ater the update i lost it in the phone language and writing language despite that i followed all te NSU rules
i wonder if it can be fixed???

Yes it can be fixed but only by a nokia service centre.
They are the only people who can add language packs to phones.
The reason it happened is because your phone was bought in from another country , modified to include arabic then put on sale . When the NSU updates a phone it checks the product code and selects the apropriate regional update. The process deletes the old firmware which include your language.

I have a N80 Internet Edition with firmware 5.0719.0.2 and I installed the Home Media Server application from the CD.
I use windows XP SP2 Professional and a Comtrend CT-536+ router.
But when I try to enter in home network in the Gallery, the phone restarts in 3-4 seconds, I think that when it detects the PC.
Also I have updated the Home Media Server over internet.
    What I can do?
    Thanks

Problem is related with phone I think.
Can perform a soft reset or hard reset.

  • N80 Gallery Bug introduced in firmare 5.0719.0.2

In case you guys from Nokia didnt notice it yet ...
There was a new bug introduced into the Gallery application of the Nokia N80 with Firmware 5.0719.0.2.
    The bug looks as following:
If you open the Picture Gallery there simply wont be any pictures or videos shown (from both internal memory and memory card). All one can see are the two weblinks in the gallery.
Only thing that help to bring the Gallery back to normal condition is to reboot the phone.
Several people who have upgraded to 5.0719.0.2 have this problem. And it definitely was not there before in any other Firmware Version 3.x or 4.x.
Is Nokia already aware of this bug and will fix it in a future firmware release? It really annoys me a lot. So much that i already think of buying a new phone from another manufacturer.
Besides ... Why doesnt Nokia release the 5.0725.0.1 firmware for European N80s? Maybe the bug is already corrected in this newer firmware...

    Hey
To tell the truth this is one of the most common most annoying and of course older bug from N73, N80, N91.
Later nokia introduced new gallery in N93, N93i and N91 8GB.
    I discussed a tip here:/discussions/board/message?board.id=smartphones&message.id=54784&page=1
It would just **bleep** me off.Message Edited by korngear on 04-Oct-200704:31 PM

  • Updating N80 ie to v5.0719.0.2 firmware

    Hello there,
I'm trying to update the firmware on my Nokia N80 Internet Edition. This mostly due to the USSD problem with the current firmware version 4.0707.0.7. The problem is Nokia Phone Updater won't finish downloading the new firmware (68.9 MB)It gives the following error everytime I try do the update:
    Downloading Update Failed
Nokia Software Updater attempted to download your software but has failed more than three times. This could be because of a poor-quality, slow or intermittent internet connection. This could also be because of problems with our servers.
    Please try again later
Just wanted to know if you're aware of this problem? I was downloading at 25 KB/sec speed which can hardly be considered slow for the region of Africa I've been living in. Somehow I keep getting the failed message after a little while.I think it's just timing out. Wanted to ask if there's a workaround for this?
I was thinking maybe there's a way of increasing the timeout for the download in a settings file, or maybe I can download the new firmware separately and then use the Software Updater application to install it?
I'm quite tech savvy and not scared of detailed instructions.
    Can forum Nokia please help?
    Solved!

    Thank you NOKIA!
Yes the firware update went great and I can now read USSD messages.
I think the problem was simply the ISP having one of it's frequent problems.
So once the connection picked up so did the update.

  • New fw update needed for EMEA N80 5.0719.0.2 to ...

    Hi,
    I'm suffering from a defect outlined here -> http://www.forum.nokia.com/document/Forum_Nokia_Technical_Library/contents/FNTL/SysUtil_API_does_not...
which causes SysUtil API not to work - failing with permissions denied errors.
Apparently it's fixed in APAC 5.0725.0.1
    a) Any sign of an EMEA version *PLEASE - NEED THIS*
    b) What's the impact of running an APAC version within EMEA? (other than support)? Should it work?

Been through other forums about this firmware upgrade, and I think this upgrade is simply not worth it. Unfortunately, I jumped into the upgrade on Thursday, and here is my experience.
Active standby has a clearer and larger font, the gallery is faster, the blinking cursor bug is still there, there seems to be an option to configure the multimedia key for a long press, but the worst part for me, was this.
After the upgrade, I had Windows Media Player 11 transferring tracks to my N80, in 'Media Player' mode when everything suddenly stopped. Reconnected, and I had 'USB device not recognized.'
Mass storage mode - Same error.
Headed to office, plugged in SAME cable, SAME phone, same error. Tried everything after that, resinstalled All Nokia stuff, changed cables, connected other phones to the same cable. No luck.
Then, changed data cable mode from 'Ask on Connection' to 'PC Suite' and voila, everything seemed to be working fine. Changed to media player mode.'USB device not recognized.' Changed back to PC suite mode, and all was fine again. I'm doing this as I type this, and everything except PC suite mode does not work.
Posted this on another forum too, and about what happened after the firmware upgrade to me. I'm guessing it was the firmware, because before the upgrade, everything was as fit as a fiddle.
the 4.06 version that upgraded the N80 to IE was the best overall, IMO..Message Edited by ubertechnophile on 23-Jun-200708:39 AM

  • N80 Freezing

    Hi,
I have the latest firmware on my Nokia N80 (5.0719.0.2), however i am experiencing frequent hangs and freezing in between menus. Most notably when going into Gallery. However, everything works fine if i remove my memory card (Kingston 1GB MiniSD). Also, i have problems transfering files over to my memory card after transfering some files to it and i'm suspecting incompatibility of memory card. Any ideas? :/

If would be worth trying another memory card if you can get your hands on one. The card may be faulty.

  • N80 Problem. Pls Help!!!!

My N80 has a big problem. After installing the latest firmware V5.0719.0.2 RM-92 through nokia updater, I cant hear sound from my ear piece. The keytone sound has gone eventhough is activited in the profile. I can only use the loudspeaker to hear sound and voice from call.
Is it the firmware problem or my hardware????
If it is the firmware problem, how can I reinstall the previous version?
    Pls help!!!

Yes, that sounds just like a worn ribbon cable. Perhaps you should get it replaced. I am not sure where you are but supposedly it only costs RM50 (€12)to replace in Malaysia, so not too expensive.

  • N80 Restarting "WSOD" when playing large mp4 files

I love Anime's so I'm converting my "RMVB" or "AVI" video files from my pc to "MP4" so that i can watch in my N80.
here is the setting when i convert the files to MP4:
    Video
    -resolution is "352x288 (CIF)"
-frame rate(FPS) is set to "auto"
-Bit rate is set to "512"
    Audio
-im just setting it to "mono" and "128kbps"
    file size: is almost 110mb
there are two situation that i observed before the WSOD is happening:
    1st situation:
when i try to play the mp4 file using "imaging folder---> realplayer".
    2nd situation:
when i try to play the mp4 file using "gallery--> images and videos".
both situation makes my n80 restart A.K.A "WSOD" but the difference is it is restarting more often when im using the 1st situation that i couldnt enjoy what im watching.
In the 2nd situation i can play up to two 30 mins MP4 videos and then on the 3rd video usually WSOD will appear.
can someone tell me why this is happening? And this is only happening when im watching Video. Is this a firmware bug? pls help
By the way i have the latest firmware for my n80IE
    V5.0719.0.2
    24-05-2007
    RM-92
    Nokia N80(12)
    thanks in advance

    hi scoobyman
actually i already read that thread, and my settings are correct except for the "bitrate"... he said that the maximum recommended bitrate is "350 kbps"
my setting for bitrate is "512kbps"
i think that 512kbps is still ok in n80, because when i try to look at the properties of the "recorded video" of my n80. here are the properties:
(ORIGINAL PROPERTIES OF RECORDED VIDEO ON N80)
    video
    -Bitrate is 574kbps
    -format mpeg4
    -size/resolution 352x288
    -frame rate is 15 fps
    sound
    -format mpeg4aac
    -bitrate 0kbps
    -sample rate is 16000hz
    -channel is mono
as you can see, the recorded video file of n80 has bitrate of 574kbps
here is my setting when im converting my PC file for my n80:
(MY SETTING IN CONVERTING FILES TO MP4)
    video
    -Bitrate is 512kbps
    -format mpeg4
    -size/resolution 352x288
    -frame rate is 15 automatic
    sound
    -format mpeg4aac
    -bitrate 128kbps
    -sample rate is 44100hz
    -channel is mono
i dont exactly know if theres a problem in my sound setting but i think the video
settings are correct. and also according to el_loco
"Audio: NB-AMR, WB-AMR or MPEG4 audio in mono or stereo, up to 128 kbps @ 44.1 KHz.
    Sample rate."
that makes my sound setting also correct.
i dont really know why this is happening, im suspecting 3 things here:
    -a bug in firmware
    -version of realplayer
    -or the converted file itself
if its the converted file can you please recommend a good video converter for nokia.
thanks =)Message Edited by wicked on 05-Jul-200703:22 PM

  • N80 Media player exclamation mark flaw

    Hello everyone,
Just found a bug in the built-in media player (or media library, I think it's a part of the player): when the filename includes an exclamation mark (!) the media library refuses to read the ID3 tag (or whatever tag the AAC and M4A files have) and places the song in the Unknown [artist|album|style|etc.] sections of the library. Removing the exclamation mark fixes the problem.
I'm using the latest version of the firmware (5.0719.0.2). This problem exists since the 4.x versions.
It's not such a big flaw but it's kinda annoying, took me some time to find out what caused this, even made me format my card...
Anyway, I'm posting it so that I save someone some trouble.
And, of course, a fix in the next version of the firmware (if any) would be great.
    Greets,

    I would try re-installing the PC-suite.
My favorite N80 applications: Nokia Mobile Search, Smart2go Beta,
    S60 Internet Radio, Mobile Weather.
    N80ie Firmware: V 4.0707.0.7 (March 28, 2007).

  • N80 AD-41 trouble

Hi there. I have bought an AD-41 headsets (regretly with HS-20 instead of HS-28, since I have heard HS-28 has a louder and better sound), but this doesn't have anything to do with my question.
The thing is, when I'm using the Music Player, and I make it to play in background, and I slide the keypad up to lock it, the Play/Pause button in the AD-41 remote control doesn't work like I want it to work. If I press it once, while a song is being played, it pauses. But if I press it again, the song doesn't continue.
I have to slide the keypad down, open the Music Player and continue the playing manually. The same thing happens if I put the Player on background but I don't lock the keypad. The only way the button works with both pause and play funcions, is if I let the Player on foreground, and I don't lock the keypad ('cause if I lock it, it doesn't work either).
I'd like to know whether this is a N80's firmware bug (I have the Internet Edition and if I'm not wrong I have the last firmware version, it's 5.0719.0.2), or if it's a headset problem, so I can go the store where I bough it.

Mmmm... you're saying this because you reproduced the situation using the same items (an N80 and an AD-41)?
Because personally I think the just opposite than you...
I don't have the opportunity of trying it with another phone since I know nobody who has an N Series, but if the pause function does work, the button is working fine.
    I don't know...

  • N80 new firmware release date and wishlist

It has been no update on firmware since the latest release V.5.0719.0.2 for N80 since 24 May 2007. With so many models rolling out and firmware revision released for other new and old models, one might wonder if N80 is being forgotten and the firmware revision is put on-hold forever in cold storage?!
There has been so much discussion on the expectation for last firmware release but what we get is only product stability without signficant boost of functionality and performance. I believe this has made many proud owner of N80 phone waiting with a long neck.
After reading through the forum, I have summarised some of the common expectation on the next release (hopefully) in a wishlist below. All is welcome to provide input on the improvement they expect in next firmware release. It is also hope that any status of firmware upgrade for N80 news to be shared here.
    The N80 new firmware wishlist
    i) AD2P bluetooth profile support
ii) Nokia Maps application support (currently, N80 is not support model for Nokia Maps application)
iii)Enhanced digital music player (similar with N73 ME with album art browsing)
iv) Music file IDD tag editing (change artist, song title, genre information)
    v) Video ringtone
    vi) Skype VOIP support
vii)Mymobilesite.net intergration for seamless moblogging interface
viii)Auto birthday reminder storing from Contact entry
Thats all I can think of for now.
    was: 3310--> N80 v5.0719.0.2--> N82 v31.0.016; now: 5800xm v40

    Hi Jacob,
Thanks for your quick response but if you go to the download section of Nokia Maps, N80 is not listed for selection on Nokia Maps setup file download. It is obvious that the compability page does show N80 is supported but which setup version to choose? I myself have Nokia Maps installed previously. But I believe there are new feature and interface in the latest version of Nokia Maps.
Yes, mymobilesite.net is available for N80, but perhaps the new firmware can include it in the new firmware release to save other the hassle to install
    something to add:
ix) HSDPA mobile internet surfing speed (3.5G?)
    was: 3310--> N80 v5.0719.0.2--> N82 v31.0.016; now: 5800xm v40

  • N80 v5 firmware and dire battery life

Updated to the v5 firmware for the N80 (5.0719.0.2) and apart from the annoying loud warning tones, the biggest problem I have with this is the extremely short battery life now.
Charged last night, left on standby for maybe 10 hours, and the thing is flat in the morning!
I doubt the battery has suddenly died. Before updating to v5, the phone would last several days on standby.
I can't see that it is connecting to any access points during the night. Bluetooth is off. WLAN scanning is off.
I know the N80 is old now, but anyone found a solution to this or have some tips?
Only other thing I can think of doing is a total reset of phone and media memory, and reinstall everything from scratch.
    E72-1 UK CV 052.005

I have had V5 on my N80 a year or more now and there is definitely no reduction in battery life.
Make sure that things you don't normally use like 3G, bluetooth and wlan scanning is switched off. If this doesn't work then try resetting and failing that, reinstall V5.
