N80 AD-41 trouble

Hi there. I have bought an AD-41 headsets (regretly with HS-20 instead of HS-28, since I have heard HS-28 has a louder and better sound), but this doesn't have anything to do with my question.
The thing is, when I'm using the Music Player, and I make it to play in background, and I slide the keypad up to lock it, the Play/Pause button in the AD-41 remote control doesn't work like I want it to work. If I press it once, while a song is being played, it pauses. But if I press it again, the song doesn't continue.
I have to slide the keypad down, open the Music Player and continue the playing manually. The same thing happens if I put the Player on background but I don't lock the keypad. The only way the button works with both pause and play funcions, is if I let the Player on foreground, and I don't lock the keypad ('cause if I lock it, it doesn't work either).
I'd like to know whether this is a N80's firmware bug (I have the Internet Edition and if I'm not wrong I have the last firmware version, it's 5.0719.0.2), or if it's a headset problem, so I can go the store where I bough it.

Mmmm... you're saying this because you reproduced the situation using the same items (an N80 and an AD-41)?
Because personally I think the just opposite than you...
I don't have the opportunity of trying it with another phone since I know nobody who has an N Series, but if the pause function does work, the button is working fine.
I don't know...

  • Cable connectivity trouble with N80

I can understand several of you have had problems connecting your N80 with a PC. I have now tried all the different solutions proposed in here, and still nothing helps. (It would be nice if Nokia officially could provide som help, since so many experience this!)
Anyways, the problem is that the computer doesn't locate the drivers for the N80. Windows' "new hardware found" pops up all right, but then it keeps searching for the drivers and nothing helps!
I've tried to remove all the USB devices installed in the Device Manager and I've tried to reinstall the newest PC Suite. It even works fine with my desktop computer, just not with the laptop - what to do??

    Uninstall PC suite
    Run the PC Suite cleaner
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4144912
Then reinstall PC suite again Don't connect the phone until asked too. Then see if it works.
Might be worth disconnecting any USB hubs, devices etc... and before you connect the phone.

  • Somebody help me!!! N80 troubles with firmware v 4...

Seem to have an issue with 4.0632.0.38 firmware.
Ever since i upgraded to it my phone refuses to dial any numbers in my contacts or log. If i manually type a number it works fine but calling contacts or a number from a text message does not work.
When i push the call button it does nothing as if i've never pressed the button.
It has to either be a firmware related problem or something is wrong with the actual chipset in the phone. Seems wierd how it's been working for almost a year fine and now this firmware version gets installed it buggers up.
More info on this problem can be seen in my other post in troubleshooting.
Does anyone have any idea of this problem??Message Edited by juzz18 on 02-Aug-200706:10 AM

i still believe the software on mine has got to be the problem because nokia have replaced my phone with another N80 and it still does the same thing!!!
i'm trying to tell them to look into it with software developers etc.. but im getting nowhere.
    This is a joke.

  • N80 WiFi Upnp connection trouble

    Hi,
Have setup N80 for WiFi and can use the internet through my linksys router. The problem is when I select gallery> home network> the waiting for devices just sits there. The PC's on the network cannot see the phone either any thoughts?
    Cheers

No, I don't think it works like that I'm afraid. If you go to www.simplecenter.com you can download the media server software and when it's all up and running you can copy pics/music from/to your phone to/from the PC, view pics in the Phone Gallery on your PC, play music on your phone through your PC etc.
    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for detailed answers.
1.) I will check that one. By the way, I am using O2 (Ireland).
2.) I will check this as well.
3.) My home WAN is configured with WEP, so it is not a good idea to switch to WPA-PSK. Anyway, thanks for advise!
4.) miniSD card is ok: Read: 10MB/sec; Write: 8MB/sec, 66X. Now, can you sen d me PM describing what software you use to decode video into MP4 with H.263 CODEC?
5.) There is Adobe PDF reader installed. Can it read normal pdf files size of about 30mb? I tried different files, and I got same error, saying that not enough memory (there are about 700MB free on my miniSD)?
To elaborate on point 4, I use a freeware utility called SUPER by eRightSoft, see this previous post:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=phones&message.id=3838&query.id=23184
5.) I'm afraid the adobe PDF reader cannot handle files much bigger than 1.5MB. Unfortunately the limiting factor is the amount of free application RAM that your N80 has available, usually about 19MB just after a reboot or around 15MB if the phone has been on longer than an hour or so and no other apps running. Application RAM is different from your miniSD memory and also not to be confused with your phone memory for storing files, usually about 40MB and often referred to as the C: drive. See petrib's excellent memory explanation thread that's been stickied at the top of the Smartphones section.

  • Nokia N80 email trouble

    hiya,
ive done everything according to the website instrcutions etc etc and managed to set up my yahoo account on my N80 but, when i tried to send my first email, it just went to the outbox and said 'queued' i tried resending it a few times and checked the reciepients address but no joy please please please help!!! thank you!

Yes. Change the Yahoo! SMTP server to your network operator's SMTP server name. What it is, depends on your operator; check their web site or call their customer service and ask them (or, in case it happens to be correct, try smtp.operatorname.com or mail.operatorname.com where "operatorname.com" is your operator's real domain name).

  • N80 trouble

Is there any simple way to add contact info
    into message(sms/mms)? Switching menu,
then to contact list, then switching
to change mode and copy desired contact info is not good
idea... does anybody know how to do that more quickly?
    thanks.

If you want to send contact details, you can also hit Options in the Contacts app and choose the option to send the contact record or just the selected detail to somebody.
Otherwise, I'd also like to see an "insert contact" feature in the message editor.

  • N80 Media player exclamation mark flaw

    Hello everyone,
Just found a bug in the built-in media player (or media library, I think it's a part of the player): when the filename includes an exclamation mark (!) the media library refuses to read the ID3 tag (or whatever tag the AAC and M4A files have) and places the song in the Unknown [artist|album|style|etc.] sections of the library. Removing the exclamation mark fixes the problem.
I'm using the latest version of the firmware (5.0719.0.2). This problem exists since the 4.x versions.
It's not such a big flaw but it's kinda annoying, took me some time to find out what caused this, even made me format my card...
Anyway, I'm posting it so that I save someone some trouble.
And, of course, a fix in the next version of the firmware (if any) would be great.

  • N80 bluetooth disconnecting issue

I am unable to use my bluetooth gps with N80. It disconnects the bt connection about once in 5 minutes.
I've read some forums and it seems that others are also experiencing similar bug in N80 (bt headsets and gps's)
    My firmware is 3.0617.0.6
I'm using Navicore software and disconnecting happens both with location api and direct bluetooth connections. This (using location api) makes me believe, it is operating system issue and not Navicore.
I'm waiting for an upgraded firmware. When will it be released and is this bug known/fixed?

Hi there, I had problems with the bluetooth too. I have the same firmware as you and was having problems with a headset. I took it to Phoneland and although there is no new firmware at the moment there is a service upgrade (Bluetoothe, Wi-Fi etc)which fixed the problem with the headset. Maybe you need to get yours done too. Just tell them your having trouble with bluetooth and they will have a look. It's free too as long as it's still under warranty. Hope this helps.

  • N80: Feeds Client bug and possible solution

    Hi everyone,
I've found what appears to be a bug in Feeds Client V. 3.0(0529) in my Nokia N80 Internet Edition.
I've added a couple of feeds when connecting to a WLAN, but when I tried to read those feeds again, this time away from that WLAN range, it didn't even gave me the choice of network connection: it just tried to go back to the same connection without asking.
I deleted that network's entry in Tools->Network->Access points. Because I only had two feed address saved, I've also deleted them.
But this time the phone didn't even allow me to go into the Feeds folder!
What appeared to solve the bug was something like this.
    1) Create a new bookmark with the feed address (e.g. Google News). You can delete it later.
    2) Start browsing the feed. Your browser should ask what is the network to use, if you've configured that way.
    3) You get the feed list, hopefully. If you choose Back, the mobile will show the feed list you've saved (in my case, only the feed I'm reading because I've previously deleted all of them).
This seemed to do it. If you want to be sure, save the new feed in the Feeds folder again, and delete the previous feed.
Hopefully this will allow you to go around the bug and let the Feeds Client think it should access the network connection you want. The problem is, it still only lets you read the feeds through the network connection you've selected!
    Regards,
    J.B.

A better test would be to move one at a time (Desktop folder) until you find the codec causing the trouble.
    Two of my guesses:
    Out of date DivX

  • N80 stuck in Offline mode

Hi, have already searched all over the net and on these boards to find a reason and solution but nothing concrete as of yet.
First off I have had my N80 on Vodafone contract for about 5 weeks without any major problems apart from poor coverage changing from O2 in my area and what appears to be a temperamental WiFi (only connects when it feels like it!), using standard Firmware v.3.0617.0.6 03-05-2006. I haven't attempted any 'upgrades' or anything that might carry a risk in causing any problems, so am quite confused why I've got this problem? Especially as it appears others only seem to have got this problem with the N80 AFTER upgrading their firmware themselves etc...
Anyway I've just got back from hospital as been in overnight (tonsillectomy ) and since changing between offline and online fine a few of times it got stuck last night. So now when I try to change back to online mode I get an error "Unable to change profile" (I've tried leaving it switched off for 4hours, removing SIM card, battery and memory card numerous times but no luck).
Before I take it into a Nokia Service Centre I'd like to try accessing a 'Test Mode' to take it out of 'Offline Mode' temperarily then try loading up 'Online Mode' again, as I've read on a couple other forums this has worked for someone that got this after flashing to new firmware. So what free and least hassle app. can I download that will allow me to do this without messing with the firmware or anything? (Nokia Software Updater doesn't support N80 :-/ ) uninstalling all Nokia PC Suite software and drivers, then installing 2 other progs and other drivers with a few reboots thrown in for good measure plus not sure on the reliability of this program with regards to 'messing' with my phone).
Sorry for the long post by the way, but I'm not happy about this and having to go to all this trouble to find any info about this never mind an easy solution.
    Thanks In Advance,

Have you tried to borrow a mate's SIM card (will probably need to be vodafone if phone is SIM locked), and also check if SIM card connector is OK, the metal cover is a little weak so might have got bent.
To check if SIM is working you could launch contacts, and go to options - SIM Contacts - SIM Directory to see if card is alive or not.
last gasp solution might be to backup to memory card and then do *#7370# and then restore from memory card. (you'll probably need to reinstall and SIS apps before doing the restore)
