N80 and Mac compatability

I'm just about to get a N80 hopefully.
But does it isync with a Mac?
I want to sync it to my calender. To my contacts would be cool too, but not essential.
Can it hook up over the bluetooth link?
What can it do with a Mac? Or can it not do anything?

Panic yea NOT!
Yes it can do all of the above and more...
In its current guise & the current SW of 10.4.6 it will NOT Isync immediately...
It will with new OS release due shortly, or if you peruse the KB at apple.com it explains wot simple mods can be done if you are desperate to get it up and working immediately.
It will sync with both Ical and entourage either or both and also with address book (mac)
You currently can browse and "get" from your handset & "send" files from your mac by pairing it via bluetooth.
I currently have mine linked to my WLAN as well and am awaiting the plugin for skypee for its use as a cordless voip handset too.

  • Network Attached Storage Recommendation for PC and Mac compatability

    Hi Everyone,
I am about to purchase a MacBook and am looking to also by an NAS drive on which I can store all of my music (and maybe my movies as well). I want to be able to store and retrieve files from both my windows machine and the mac.
I have been researching the drives and can't decide whether to go with a LaCie, Maxtor, or Western Digital. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Also, I am not clear on how I would be able to store both Windows and Mac Files on an NAS but I have gathered that it should be no problem to do this. Can anybody here explain this to me? My goal is to have one partition on this drive so that I have a central media library.
Thanks for any input. These forums have been a great source of information for making the decision to buy a mac.
    Steve
(I am posting this in multiple places in hopes of getting a response.)

You might want to look into the ReadyNAS from Infrant:
    http://infrant.com/
The models have essentially the same features in different form factors. It's more expensive than a bare bones NAS, but it's very capable. Briefly:
-- you can use 1-4 drives, for massive capacity
-- it implements RAID 5 in hardware, allowing you to get redundancy without much wasted space. Other NAS that provide RAID 5 generally do it in software which is really too slow to be usable
-- provides smb, afp, ftp, http access, will work with pretty much any OS
-- when using their proprietary X-RAID you can sequentially replace disks with larger ones (allowing a rebuild in between) and when you are done the extra space is automatically incorporated into the volume
It's really a very capable unit, allowing you to have massive space and redundancy at home for storage, backup, etc.... You can get going with only two drives and then add more as you need the space/have the money (X-RAID automatically moves from RAID 1 to RAID 5 as you have extra drives).
They also have a very active user forum, so you can get a good view of how it works and hear from the developers directly.
    Good luck.

  • Solaris Express 11 and Mac compatibility

    Hi all,
I would want to use Solaris with my Mac so I tried to boot on the DVD and install the Developer version, the Mac boot on it correctly and started to install Solaris. But I have a problem with the screen (APPLE 23' with a NVidia 7300GT) when it wants to switch in the window mode, my screen freeze and the system returns to the console mode...
I tried with another screen (samsung 17') and the installation in a window mode worked !
So the problem is the compatibility with the screeen or my graphic card ? (it seems that the 7300GT is not yet supported, it doesn't appear in the listed supported devices report)
how can I do to work with my Apple screen with the high resolution (1920*1200) ?
    thanks a lot...

    Cindy,
Thanks for the quick reply. If I'm understanding correctly, the SCSI unmap command was implemented in last November's Solaris 11.1 release but has since been disabled due to performance problems. I'm running the original November release with no updates so can I assume that SCSI unmap is enabled on my system? If so, do I run any risk of data corruption by staying with my current version? I'm currently running Solaris 11.1 from a SATA SSD.

  • Lenovo Wireless Headset W770 compatibility with Linux and Mac

    Hi,
Can someone provide me information on Lenovo Wireless Headset W770 compatibility with Linux and Mac distributions.  On the product overview page under Software Requirements, only Windows is mentioned.  http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?submit=true&componentID=1343112653906&DocID=PD...
Please let me know if the headset can work with other distributions as well.
    Thanks & Regards,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I just received W770 and tried it on a PC and it worked. But when I plug the USB receiver in a macbook air (2011 MAC OS 10.6.8), it didn't work. The message I got is that MAC can't recognize the "keyboard" and asked me to press the shift button on the unrecognized keyboard- which I guess meant that the MAC treated the USB dongle as if it were a wireless keyboard of some sort. Anyway, would appreciate it if you could let me know how to make it work on MAC. The previous statement saying that it would work on any Lenovo machine regardless of OS is kinda of unclear - do you mean that it would also work on lenovo running MAC OS (is there any Lenovo running Mac OS?). Thanks.

  • Compatibility 802.1X and mac-filter from ACS

If the  clients identities and mac address are stored in the same ACS server.
In WLC,could a wlan be configured layer2 security with both 802.1x and mac-filtering?
this is really a critical problem for me!
    Thanks~

    Hi,
I am assuming  you are asking if you configure a x  mac of wlan client in MAC filer and the same as user naem in 802.1x ACS database as user name , could you configure it ? what is the effect?
If my understading of your queston is  correct the answer is
Any wlan client will not be allowed to  associate to the network  unless a match is  seen in mac filter in wlc.
But once that is done  it will not able to access  network resources  unless   802.1x authentication is  completed by ACS  against the wlan clients user name which is again a mac  address of client.
i dont see a value for doing this. except that you will block  unnecessary authentication request getting to ACS  by filtering it in the 1st instance.
another scenario is  if you are using mac filtering also on ACS , it should be preceeded by mac filtering and then ACS authentication , as above as far as  ssequence goes hence the same logic applies here.
    Thanks

  • New router (switched from Linksys to Netgear 750 - HP J4680 printer all in one - and MAC

My husband puchase a new router - (we were told our old router failed on us) - we had no problems setting up the netgear 750 from the linksys router we originally had - we have a MACBook Pro
My HP printer J4680 - ran beautifully  before the router switch - now will only work when directly connected from MAC to printer.
We have had several people troubleshoot for us -( we live in the country - no IT personnel nearby) - no one can seem to get the connection going between the two devices - I reinstalled the printer - read and reread the troubleshooting manual on both router and printer - and performed all the recommendations listed. The basic setup instructions on the HF printer say that despite the proximity of the printer and the router the signal in only fair and that it appears to have a "security" issue - I turned off the firewall settings on computer - no change in status.
we are contemplating returning the Netgear 750 for another linksys - could someone please tell me how or if we can solve this problem w/o having to return the router?
We purchased this particular router for the MAC compatability - the wireless printer is fairly new <<5yrs old and never had any problems w/it.
IT REALLY APPRECIATE ANY ADVICE I CAN GET!! THANX - maggiemae03815

    Welcome to the forums maggiemae03815
I saw your post about the connection issues you are having with your new router, Mac computer and Officejet J4680. I understand you have done some troubleshooting already however, I have a suggestion or two for you to try.
    On your Mac, try:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system
    Repair disk permissions
    Restart the Mac
Re-add the printer (do not use the AirPrint driver)
    Test print
Next contact the router company or your internet service provider to check the settings on your new router. There may be a setting that is blocking the connection to your printer:
Network name and password need to have no spaces or punctuation
If using WPA2 security, switch to WPA personal
Dual broadcast Wireless b/g/n (printer will only connect to g)
Mac filter needs to be turned off
Firewall settings need to be at there default settings, or set to a lower security
    Multicasting "on"
Following ports need to be un-blocked:
    Incoming (UDP) ports : 137, 138, 161, 427
    Outgoing (TCP) ports : 137, 139, 427, 9100, 9220, 9500
I hope my post was informational!

  • How to share files between pc and mac via external hard drive

how can i share my files(mp3,mp4,documents) from my harddisk with mac. i am a new mac user and i have a harddisk of NTFS format(as i was a pc user).I learned that mac supports FAT32 format and therefore i can't write data on my external hard drive.
but, reading a section of OSX yosemite(under compatibility) it is said that now we can easily share files between pc and mac.
So please suggest me easier way that how can i share files between macs and pc as my friends uses pc and in future i really want to share my data with them without any hustle and i dont wanna loose my data in future

You can format the HDD to a common one like ExFAT or Fat32 but a reformat will delete all data off of the HDD.
Your other option is to use a third party software such as Paragon or Tuxera that will allow you to write to a NFTS formatted HDD.
    Ciao.

  • IPhoto 6 and Camera Compatibility

I recently upgraded my OS to 10.5.8 from 10.4... I know very late. I had no intention until the upgrade to my iPhone 3GS required it. Regardless, I am running IPhoto 6.0.6 and it has worked fine. I own a Canon T1i EOS Rebel digital camera. Up until the conversion to Leopard, I would plug the camera into the port and iPhoto would open up and transfer the pics without an issue. Today, I tried to upload pictures, the USB cord was secure on both sides and nothing happened. I turned the camera on and off twice to see if by starting it up connected would change things, nothing did. I ensured that the battery is charged in the camera and that the sleep setting was not tampered with thus not allowing it to transfer.
I am suspicious about the upgrade to Leopard causing this incompatibility issue with my camera. When I did a search on the apple website, the page about iPhoto 6 and camera compatibility is a dead link. So a couple of questions if someone would be kind enough to help me out with:
    1) Is the import of pictures not occuring because of an incompatibility issue between my camera and iPhoto 6 suddenly? Or is incompatibility between 10.5.8 and iPhoto 6?
    2) What is the best solution? Upgrade to iLife '11? Or will that require upgrading to Snow Leopard as well? Or is it better to buy the $129 bundle of Snow Leopard, iLife and iWork for compatibility issues?
    3) Lastly, is there a webpage on apple that shows these compatibility issues? For instance, if I upgrade one thing in the future, all the other software suites that need updating as well?
Thanks in advance to whomever can help me.
    Cheers,
    -Tod

    1) Is the import of pictures not occuring because of an incompatibility issue between my camera and iPhoto 6 suddenly? Or is incompatibility between 10.5.8 and iPhoto 6?
Neither. The usual cause for this issue can be a damaged plist file, a setting on the camera or Mac or minor directory damage on the card.
Plist file: Can you access the card with Image Capture (in your Applications Folder)? If so, you might try trash the iPhoto plist file, if not try trash the Image Capture plist file as well.
Settings: What's set to happen when you connect the camera? With iPhoto 6 that's in the Image Capture. Your camera has two modes for talking to the Mac: Mass Storage and PTP. What one are you set to? Try the other one.
Directory Damage: Have you tried using a USB Card Reader? Can the Mac see the card in that?
    Regards

  • Info regarding Diswarrior 4 and Leopard compatibility

I emailed Alsoft regarding Diskwarrior 4 and Leopard compatibility. Here is the response I got.
+DiskWarrior 4.0 will successfully rebuild a disk that has Mac OS X 10.5+
+Leopard installed or a disk that has been attached to a computer running+
    Leopard.
+However, some operating system functionality has changed within Leopard+
+itself. As such, there are some compatibility issues when running an+
+installed copy of DiskWarrior 4.0 while started up from Mac OS X 10.5+
+Leopard. Alsoft currently recommends that you do not run DiskWarrior 4.0+
+while the computer is started from Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard.+
+Instead, to run DiskWarrior, you should start up the computer from either:+
    +1) A DiskWarrior 4.0 CD.+
+2) Any disk that starts up in 10.4.x and then run DiskWarrior 4.0.+
+An updated version of DiskWarrior that has complete Leopard+
+compatibility will be released soon as a free download for existing+
    +owners of DiskWarrior 4.0.+
+-- What you can expect when running DiskWarrior 4.0 under Mac OS X+
    +10.4.x and rebuilding a Leopard disk.+
+All features work as expected with one exception: FileVaults created+
+while started from Leopard are not visible to DiskWarrior 4.0 and cannot+
    +be rebuilt (repaired).+
+-- What you can expect when running DiskWarrior 4.0 under Mac OS X 10.5+
    +and rebuilding a Leopard disk.+
+While not recommended (and discouraged), if you do run DiskWarrior 4.0+
+while started from Mac OS X 10.5 you might encounter some problems such as:+
+1) There is a lengthy delay whenever DiskWarrior is determining which+
+drives are currently attached. This delay is dependent upon the number+
+of attached drives and may last up to 2 or 3 minutes. You will+
+experience this delay when first starting DiskWarrior, whenever a disk+
+is attached or detached while DiskWarrior is running but idle, and+
    +whenever a rebuild is completed or canceled.+
+2) You cannot rebuild FileVaults or disk images.+
+3) In step 9 (comparing directories) of a rebuild, the progress bar+
+might get to 100% even though the comparison step is not finished.+
+4) When performing Check All Files and Folders the progress bar might+
+get to 100% even though the check is not finished.+
+5) After rebuilding a disk, DiskWarrior may report that some files or+
+folders have had their permissions changed. This is inaccurate and the+
    +permissions have not been changed.+
+To repeat, an updated version of DiskWarrior that has complete Leopard+
+compatibility will be released soon as a free download for existing+
    +owners of DiskWarrior 4.0.+
    +-- What about DiskWarrior 3?+
+DiskWarrior 3 and earlier versions are not compatible with Mac OS X 10.5+
+(Leopard). Alsoft does not recommend running DiskWarrior 3 or earlier on+
+a disk that has Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard installed or a disk that has been+
    +attached to a computer running Leopard.+

So, it seems it will work but you need to run it from the disk or if you have it installed on a external drive running Tiger, it will work.
    Thom

If you open your Tiger Address Book, select all cards, drag them to the desktop, it will make one big "mega-VCF" card with a name like "Alan Adams and 543 others.vcf" Dump that to a flash drive or email it to yourself, then doubleclick on it on the Leopard machine. They will all import just fine into your Leopard Address Book.
Try doing something similar with your iCal data, Open the application, choose your calendars one at a time, and select File > Export. That should make a big "mega-ics" calendar card with a name like "work.ics" or "home.ics, i.e., "originalcalendarname.ics" with all the events of that calendar. Then same drill: dump that to a flash drive or email it to yourself, then doubleclick on it on the Leopard machine.
Both generation methods create text files, which should import just fine into the Leopard applications.

I just upgraded my Mac OS from 10.3.9 to 10.5. Dreamweaver MX
