Just like to say hi to everyone.
What i would like to know is can you upgrade the realplayer in the n80 without a major flash, and if so how can you do it?
The reason i ask is i am having trouble streaming video with my n80, i have tried all sorts with my wifi connection to sort it but to no avail, it streams music ok np.
Thx for reading...tingull

Hello there, you said it streams music ok, np. I own an N80 too and I tried everything to do just this. Could you play this link to a real audio stream and let me know if you were succesful ? If so, I would like to know what it is you did differently on your N80 ?

  • 10.4.8 and RealPlayer

    Hi all,
I upgraded to 10.4.8 last night and everything seems to have pretty much worked apart from RealPlayer.
I upgraded RealPlayer to 10.1 this morning but to no avail. The problem is, whenever I go to the BBC Radio 1 pages I get the message:
Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in
The page “BBC Radio Player” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed.
popping up. Using the stand-alone player works fine, in fact with 10.1 it works better because it just opens up RealPlayer rather than me having to do it manually.
Despite the error popping up it still streams (when the BBC link actually works...) which is really weird.
Anyway, I'd really like it to just work in the web page like it used to with 10.4.7 and RealPlayer 10.0. I don't suppose anybody has any solutions?
    Thanks
    Richard

    Hi Richard
I just checked Radio 1 with both Safari and Opera, and it is playing aboslutely fine. I notice that I am still using Real Player 10.0.0. I wouldn't be surprised if some file associated with plug-in defaults has become corrupted. Possible solutions are emptying the cache and resetting Safari, both under the Safari menu.
"Resetting Safari clears the history, empties the cache, clears the Downloads window, and removes all cookies. It also removes any saved user names and passwords or other AutoFill data and clears Google search entries." – So it is a little drastic.
You can also check the Installed plug-ins, under the Help menu.
If this does not help you might try dragging your Safari preference file to the Desktop, and then launching Safari to see whether the problem disappears. If not you can return the preference file whence it came.

  • N80 and WiFi EAP-LEAP

    Hi Forum,
I have had huge problems with WiFi, hence I got it firmware upgraded to the p.t. latest fw version 4.0623.0.41 RM-92 N80 (03).
Now WiFi and Bluetooth works alot better and sure alot faster. I recommed getting latest fw !
I discovered that LEAP is supported for Wifi and since I have LEAP on the job i though I would give it a try.
Now I am the network administrator on my job, so I have 100% controll over the wireless installations etc.
I can not get the N80 to work with LEAP at all !
I get user authenticated, byt I never get an IP from DHCP.
I did debug, and the phone doesnt sent any DHCP requests etc, as clients must.
Ok - then I tell the phone to use static IP.
Still notthing happends - I get user auth ok and thats it !
I can only conclude that Nokia N80 and Cisco Systems Aironet platform doesnt work.
Are there ANYONE who has LEAP running on the N80 ??
I for sure would like to hear about the setup, so please di tell.

I am running a broadcast (public) SSID, and running on the N80 Internet Edition firmware.
I suppose I may have to accept that the N80 WIFI just does not work with EAP et al., I have debugged the EAP negotiation on the AP and the RADIUS server and everything appears normal - however the N80 will not assume an IP address nor will it pass traffic when performing link state tests from the AP (I am using a Cisco AP1220, 802.11g radio, and image c1200-k9w7-mx.123-8.JEA).
Such is life - hopefully the N95 will work...

  • N80 and Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth car kit

    Hi all,
I've been unable to get my Nokia N80 to correctly pair with the standard bluetooth car kit supplied with the car. I have also downloaded the latest firmware, but this does not seem to rectify the issue.
Is there another solution instead of moving to another phone manufacturer?

I'm now with Sony Ericsson and the above post should have been my last were it not for a rather belated response to my enquiry with Nokia 'Support'. Moderators really should take note to the response that Nokia 'support' team offer as it is in their direction that the moderators will often send bemused Nokia owners who need help on this forum: - -------------------------------------------------- Dear Mr xxx Thank you for contacting Nokia Helpline. With regard to your email concerning the Nokia N80, we can advise as Nokia do not test out handste with any third party software or deivices we can not say wether they will be compatabile. Please don't hesitate to contact us again if you have any further questions. With best regards UK & Ireland Team Nokia Helpline ---------------------------------------------------- It has taken the best part of 3 weeks to receive the above response which, quite frankly, offers absolutely no help whatsoever!! Quite an admission though. Just to repeat what they have said above....NOKIA do NOT test their handsets with ANY third party software or device. This leaves owners such as myself, who spec car-kits at he point of buying a new car because they prefer the integrated equipment rather than an 'add-on', completely high and dry! I still have the N80 and intend to keep it as a constant reminder NEVER to buy anything made by Nokia again. ttfn

  • N80 and Nokia Album

I have installed Nokia Album on my old 6680 and it works finde.
Now I have changed to N80 and I'm missing the nice Software Nokia Album. Does anyone know, when the Nokia Album is available for the N80? Or is it possible to install the 6680 version on N80?

I have seen the Gallery album feature. But the "Nokia Album" lists all the photos as little (verry little) thumbnails at a glance so you can very easily navigate through a lot of photos and this is greate. Also the time line, folders by month, is nice.
Today I tried to install the nokia album (for the 6680) on N80 and it's not working. Not supported sis-file. What a bummer.
I have tried PhotoRite. It's nearly the same but you have to pay a lot of money for this piece of software if you want to use it longer than 14 days.

  • N80 and Nokia Map...

    Hi,
Any body knows if Nokia Map services are intended to be available for N80 in the nearest future?

You can use Nokia Maps for N73 on your N80. Download from here: http://europe.nokia.com/A4509291
That will only give you the map application and NOT location information. To get location (GPS) information on the N80 you will need to purchase and external GPS receiver. I use the Nokia LD-3W for my N80.
I'll interest why N73 is compatible with N80?
I have a N80 and HOLUX M-1200 GPS. This GPS worked with some apps but not with my version of Nokia Maps, I will try the N73 version.
I tried various apps, with different results (N80 talking to the GPS):
LOCR: N80 OK to start, then stops talking via BT.
    TrekBuddy: Works OK.
NavFun: N80 OK to start, then stops talking via BT (restart BT).
    etc

  • Security update 5.0 disabled Kaspersky and RealPlayer pugins, I want them back on, roll back the update

Latest "security" update to Firefox 5.0 has disabled Kaspersky and RealPlayer plugins. I want these back on. They are needed, the so-called security fluffyware update is not.
    I need the update rolled-back!

    I managed a temporary work-around by re-installing Firefox 4.0
Firefox 4.0.1 was no good because it automatically updated to Firefox 5.0
Fortunately I had saved the installers to disc in April/May 2011, they are not available from Mozilla - and they should be!
I had to turn off the automatic update and install feature, this is what caused the problem in the first place. This is a dangerous feature to let loose.
All updates should be thoroughly tested that they do not disable important security and other add-on features, or should wait until suitable updated add-ons are available. Kaspersky and RealPlayer are important main-stream add-ons, not trivia. This is a classic violation of software control in design.
The latest Firefox 5 "Security Update" urgently needs to be rolled-back across the board and fixed before re-applying.

  • N80 and CK-W7 Car Kit

I have just bought a Nokia N80 and when I plugged it into my CK-W7 car kit via the Pop Port cable I found that the remote button on the car kit didn't work. With my old 6680 the button would answer calls, hang up and activate voice dialing. With the N80 I get a beep and that all. I've played around with the settings on the phone but nothing has resolved the problem yet. Is it a problem with the N80 or is it the operator's software? I bought the phone through Orange in the UK.

Lots of people are having problems with car kit it would seem. Just like I always say, take it to a service point and see if there is a Service upgrade for the bluetooth or maybe a firmware upgrade will fix it? I had problems with a headset and the service upgrade fixed it perfectly.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?
Life's too important to take seriously.
    Nokias I've owned 3210, 3310, 6100, 7650, 6600, 6680, 6630, N80, N95

  • Zire 71 and Realplayer

     Hi Palm'ers:
I have some songs in *.wma and *.m4a format that I have bought from some sites (I-Tunes, etc.), but the Palm Zire 71 doesn't play them and doesn't show them on the songlist.
Why not?  Is the original Realplayer software too old for these new formats?  Is there a new version available for this Palm and if so where can I download it?  Or is the Zire 71 getting left behind in the wake of tek development??
    Post relates to: Zire 71

Hello brmacken, Welcome to the Palm Support Community!
The Zire71 was discontinued a long time ago, and Realplayer will only support mp3 audio.  You could re-rip the songs to mp3 if desired.
You can also check with Ptunes to see if their latest version can play on a Zire71.  The Pocket Tunes 5.2 can now play wma files.

  • N80 and LifeBlog

I could not install lifeblog on my N80. I have tried to download several times the software from the Nokia website and the sis-file is not supported.
    What's wrong?

On the CD I could only found the PC Software. After installing I could not connect the N80 and download. There is a process blocking the connect.
The initial problem was, that I want to have a nice overview about my data on the mobile phone. A PC software isn't solving my problem.
Is ist possible to install LifeBlog on the N80 or not?
    Could anyone help?

  • N80 and Jabra 250v

Has any body got a Jabra 250v working with a N80. I have 2 N80 and 2 Jabra's both make a connection to the phones but dont do anything else. Both Jabras work with last phones before upgrade 7610 and 3230.
From looking at other posts bluetooth seems a problem with N80.
    Phones are on Orange.

    Hi tony_p,
My phone was a gift, so is not tied to any network as such. But I do use my company sim in there which is on Vodafone.
I did get a new Jabra 250v headset to replace my faulty one and I have been using the new one for a while now. Overall it is okay, but rarely I have had to reset the headset as the phone stops responding to it and the headset won't appear on my bluetooh devices list.
To reset it, just put the headset in the charger for three seconds and remove it (this procedure in the manual anyway), that seems to have fixed it everytime for me.
I did notice that the new headset was a little different to the old one, in that when turning it on it does not automatically go into voice dialling mode like the old one did.

  • N80 and Video Ringtones.

Is it possible to have video ring tones on the N80, and if it is can anyone provide details of how it is done?

    Yes same here.
The stutters are dreadful and sound keeps going of and on.
This is a Smart phone, But so far my K700 which is over 2 years old is smarter.
I just dont understand why, Nokia if you are reading this then please fix in your next firmware, Real Player is either Rubbish or the phone some how cant transfer the data / details over fast enough.
On some occasions opening up a video can take the phone over a 1min which i then think the phone has crashed.
Its like my computer when running more than 1 programme at a time, They start to stutter.

  • N80 and Wifi key

    Hi
I just got the N80 and i want to connect to the WLAN at work, we have WAP2. I have entered everything correctly, however there is just one problem,
When i enter the preshared key, i am unable to as it is one or two characters to long
    Is there anyway around this?
My friend at work has the 9300 nokia and he sets up his phone with wep and it works fine, when i try and setup wep on my phone i select 128bit but i can only enter about 20 characters
    Thanks

Ok me again, looks like i found the problem, when entering the key you should select the input method ‘ASCII’ or ‘Hexadecimal’. In the ‘ASCII’ mode, the input must be 8 to 63 characters. In the ‘Hexadecimal’ mode, enter 64 characters.
However the Nokia N80 does not have the option for hex or ASCII when entering the WAP preshared key.
So it looks like it is a software error on the phone side, or that im just missing a step on setting this up on the phone side
Anyone know about any fixes for this or how i can contact the developers for help on this....

  • N80 and beard hairs

I've got the N80 and I've noticed an extremely annoying issue: the front cover catch the beard hairs and pull them away from the face when they are about 2 mm long.
It's where the screen glass join the metallic part of the faceplate. The metal bend down to the plastic glass but a tiny cleft between them grab the hairs causing pain.
This happens during normal phone calls when you slightly move the phone (as everyone normally do in a call) forward and back.
I've read many issues this phone has but this one is unacceptable.

Maybe a small amount of silicone sealant along the offending strip? Or Sticky Tape possibly - if you're in the UK, I'm sure that Scotch MagicTape stuff would do the job and be pretty discrete?
Not sure whether the Sealant idea would affect the warranty at all - it's external, could be worth asking the officials about that one lol
We would not recommend this. Obviously any damage caused to the phone by tape or sealant would not be covered by the warranty.
