Hi, how do I get a service upgrade to solve my BT problems on my N80,

Go to a NSC like I did. Doesn't fix the problems though. lol.
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?

  • N80 Bluetooth Fix Yet?

Anybody have any news from Nokia about the long awaited fix for the N80 bluetooth problems?

Patc, I'm with you, and understand your frustration. I'm sure that the tech boffins in Nokia are beavouring away trying to sort the problems out, but suspect that the vast majority of resources are allocated to new phone development not fixing existing phones.
Sister bliss - You are quite right we should give Nokia every chance to sort it out, but they should at least let us know that they accept that there is a problem and are working on a fix, rather than the sloping shoulder syndrome we are all experiencing. If you have a look at some of the older threads here and on other GSM / 3G forums these issues are not days, but months old. This is not acceptable.
In pure legal terms there is a strong case for legal action. I presume that you have heard of the Trade Descriptions Act and the Sale of Goods and Services Act. They both relate to goods being fit for purpose and being accuurately described. In the case of the N80 Blutooth does not work as per the official bluetooth standard specification and the battery life is not even close to the advertised figures. Of course this is not practical and fortunately the UK does not, yet, operate under the same litigious culture that has thrived in the US, so it is unlikley that any case would make it to court, but as patc pointed out it might encourage Nokia senior managment to reallocate resources to resolve problems with existing phones more quickly. I believe this was the point of patc comment.
Rufao - have you checked this particular forum or done a google search for either "N80 GPS" or "N80 bluetooth", your eyes may be opened. Route 66 works on Symbian S60 v3, and it works on the N80. It is not useable on the N80 because the N80 is prone to disconnect from the GPS reciever every few minutes. This afflicts the Navicore software as well. It is a Nokia problem not a route 66 or any other 3rd party developer problem. In actual fact, due to the lack of apparent action from Nokia, it is our problem.
I'm prepared to wait as long as I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
ps Apologies for my spelling, but boiling blood (at Nokia) and writing forum posts whilst at work don't contribute to great grammar !!!!

  • N80 bluetooth disconnecting issue

I am unable to use my bluetooth gps with N80. It disconnects the bt connection about once in 5 minutes.
I've read some forums and it seems that others are also experiencing similar bug in N80 (bt headsets and gps's)
    My firmware is 3.0617.0.6
I'm using Navicore software and disconnecting happens both with location api and direct bluetooth connections. This (using location api) makes me believe, it is operating system issue and not Navicore.
I'm waiting for an upgraded firmware. When will it be released and is this bug known/fixed?

Hi there, I had problems with the bluetooth too. I have the same firmware as you and was having problems with a headset. I took it to Phoneland and although there is no new firmware at the moment there is a service upgrade (Bluetoothe, Wi-Fi etc)which fixed the problem with the headset. Maybe you need to get yours done too. Just tell them your having trouble with bluetooth and they will have a look. It's free too as long as it's still under warranty. Hope this helps.

  • N80 Bluetooth has stopped working?

    Hi
I was using my N80 3g Connection via bluetooth for my laptop. This was working fine no problems. I lost the signal due to bad reception then I found that since this time I can not get my bluetooth to work. The small icon on the screen says that it's on, but the blue light is no flashing. I have tried to turn off bluetooth and back on but still no joy. Turned phone off and on, but still no joy.
The phone can not find any other bluetooth device nor can any other device find my N80.
Any help would be very much appricated as bluetooth is very vital to me!

    Maybe I should read

Are you absolutely sure your phone is 'discoverable' in the settings? Because it sounds like your phone is set to hidden mode, in which it can initiate and keep open connections, but it can't be found by other devices.

  • N80 & bluetooth headsets

My bluetooth headset worked fined before. After that, I upgraded the firmware to 5.0719.0.2. Then, the headset won't work.
At first, I thought my BT headset (Motorolla HS820) went bad. Then, I bought a brand new one (Motorolla H500). Samething happened. I was able to connect both headsets to my N80. The phone recognized them both. But there's NO SOUND/TONE ... nothing.
    Please help.

I bought the Samsung WEP870 for my iPhone 3g and it works great. It comes with a lanyard with earbuds if you want to listen in stereo - which is actually why I bought it - but if you just use the "normal" bluetooth earpiece, you can listen to music in mono. The price is great too - currently under $30 at amazon.

  • N80 Bluetooth GPS Problems ???

Navicore have a Symbian series 3 version of their navigation software available unfotunately they do NOT support the N80, their official reply to me :
'It has been unfortunately identified that there are some problems in the Bluetooth connection between N80 and a GPS receiver. Therefore an application like Navicore using a Bluetooth GPS connection does not work in a reliable way. The problem is under further investigation and we shall add N80 to the list of compatible phones as soon as there is a solution available.'
is there an official reeponse from Nokia to this ????Message Edited by energylevel on 19-Jul-2006

I have the same problem with Nokia N80 (firmware V 3.0617.0.6). You can take a look at this thread:
    http://discussions.europe.nokia.com/discussions/board/message?board.id=connectivity&message.id=2715&...
So far I haven't received Nokia feedback and looks like no newer firmware exists at the moment.

    ok, i checked this out.
the holux device only uses the serial port profile and bluetooth specification 1.2.
however, the also supports the serial port profile 1.1 - so there should be no problems at all with this.
the only other thing i can think of is the gps device is disconnecting the phone or dropping the connection. it would be good to hear from someone who owns the nokia gps device to see if the same thing happens.

  • N80 Bluetooth Issue ??

I've been trying to get sat nav software for my Nokia N80, both Navicore and Route 66 have series 3 symbian versions but both seem to be having issues with compatability for the Nokia N80, it seems there may be some bluetooth problems.
    1) Is there a firmware updated to cure this yet ?
    2) Are Nokia talking with the Route66 and Navicore people to sort this out ?
I'm wondering now on whether I have grounds to return my Nokia N80 given these issues ???

what firware do you have ?
I would think it would be the other way round, they would talking to Nokia trying to get a fix.

  • N80: Bluetooth and firmware

My N80 doesn't work very wel in bluetooth with my BMW X3.
I can hang-up and hang-down with the car, but this is all. I can't brouwse the contact list, and only the phonenumber is show on the screen of my car, not the name of the contact.
    The firmware of the N80 is the V 4.0632.0.38 dated 13-10-2006 RM-92 Nokia N80 (02)
How can i know on the internet site of Nokia what is the last version of firmware for my N80.
(Before it was wel working with my 6280 with the last firmware version, not with the old one)
Can i expect a new firmaware with update for the bluetooth connection?

download the NSU (Nokia Software Updater) and check for your new firmware. I have a N80 from o2 and the latest firmware i have is:
    V 4.0623.0.42
    20.09.2006
    RM-92
    Nokia N80 (33.01)
I can tell you that my bluetooth works much better since updating to the above firmware. Give it a go, may fix your bluetooth problem.

  • N80 Bluetooth connection problems

Hi, i really am hoping someone can help i have been a big Nokia fan for a long time but have lately owned Motorola and sony ericson, but i have just bought the Nokia N80, which i have to say is the best phone i have owned yet, but i have a big problem i have an Audi sat nav system, which i also purchased the Bluetooth hands free module which allows me too connect a bluetooth phone to my audi sat nav display and use it as a handsfree, my motorola v3 and SE k750i both connected no problem at all, but my Nokia N80 connects and then 5 minutes later disconnects then 1 min later re connects this happens many times over a period of the day the longest its stayed connected is 1 hour, also i cant read my phone book or missed calls in my audi sat nav screen which it should read from the phone via bluetooth. i have the latest firmware on the N80 so should i go back to a known make that works or could someone offer some help
    thanks

Hi Karim/everyone. Been on to Orange again today cos my N80 is still intermittently not working on Bluetooth. When connected to my headset (I've tried 2 different ones now)I get one way transmission; also the headset icon doesn't always disappear when I switch the headset off. Orange are gonna send me a 3rd handset, if this doesn't fix it they want me to cancel my contract and go to another network. Defeatist or what? I'm really surprised Nokia haven't sorted all the issues with this phone, I've always had Nokias but I think it's time to start looking at ericcson P990i or similar when it's released

I have noticed that the bluetooth connection to PC-Suite drops after approx 30mins. When I try to re-connect, the phone is not detectable, either in discoverable or hidden mode, and PC-suite does not "see" the phone, other Bluetooth phones that that have been paired with my PC within the Bluetooth devices window are displayed as options but not my N80. If I restart the N80 it connects automatically as normal, then drops about 30 mins later again.
    PC-Suite version is 6.8-22
    Any thoughts anyone?

  • N80 - Bluetooth light not switching off

    Hi
Just got my new N80. I paired it with my laptop. It works fine. However, the Bluetooth light keeps blinking although I have turned off Bluetooth and also made the phone "Hidden". I would like to turn the light off completely since, possibly, it would eat away the battery charge. Appreciate your help.
    Imtiaz

    Hi imtiaz
There isn't a Bluetooth light on the N80. The light I think you're referring to (top left, just under the N80 logo) is a sleep indicator. It just shows that the phone is still powered when the display has gone off.
If you want to turn it off Tools; Settings; Phone; Display; Sleep mode = OFF.
Be warned though... sleep mode off means that the display will not go to sleep, and the battery drain will be greater than having the flashing led.

  • N80 Bluetooth Connection to Blackberry

Has anybody managed to connect an N80 to a Blackberry using Bluetooth?
I tried to send my brother some podcasts via BT over the w/end and kept getting "Transfer failed". The N80 and Blackberry paired no problem, but just wouldn't transfer files.

toekneem did you get this resolved fully?
If so, can you send any links to Toyota Site stating 'fully futureproof' etc.
All I got was that they only recommend phones that have:-
    Object Push Profile 1.1
    Handsfree Profile 1.0
    Bluetooth 1.1
Bluetooth 2 devices that are backward compatible are not recommended.
I was also told that there is a disclaimer after the 'futureproof' statement saying that the above is subject to change etc etc etc and they WOULD NOT be upgrading these. Some help would be appreciated!Message Edited by tazdevil_1974 on 02-May-200703:50 PM

  • Vista x64, PCsuite 6.84, N80, bluetooth - NoGo.

I've mentioned this in a few place but here's a detailed report of my inability to connect to PCsuite over bluetooth
    Phone: Nokia N80 5.0719.0.2
PC: Dell, Pentium 820D 3Gb ram, Vista x64
    From "system info"
    Operating system:
    Microsoft Windows Vista
    Build 6000
    No service pack installed
    Language: English
    Language for non-Unicode programs: English
    Locale: English
    Input language: English
    Nokia PC Suite:
    Version 6.84.10.3
    Language: English
    Connectivity Cable Drivers:
    Version 6.84.4.0
    PC Connectivity Solution:
    Version 7.22.7.1
    Microsoft Outlook:
    Version 12.0
    Build 5000
    No supported Bluetooth stack found
Now I disagree with that last statement since Microsoft Bluetooth is up and running!
I am able to pair via MS UI, but any attempt to pair with PCsuite results in
    Select connection type -> bluetooth
    NEXT
Detected Devices: N80 (with green handshake symbol) saying "phone needs to be authorized"
    SELECT/NEXT
    X Cannot authenticate the phone
I've tried unpairing, repairing the "connectivity" and "pcsuite" software items, rebooting pc, rebooting phone to no avail.
The same phone works ok on another Vista >>x86 PC, and this phone works ok with a serial connection.

When you say only the MS stack is supported on x64, do you mean that PCsuite can only use the MS stack on x64 - as opposed to saying that BlueSoleil/WIDCOMM aren't supported on x64.
I ask because BlueSoleil definately is supported & works on Vista x64 -- very very recently.
I have found out that there are compatible drivers (from MSI) which should allow use of the MS stack, it's just that for broader purposes (including audio support) the BlueSoleil is more functional, supporting far far more bluetooth profiles, so I would prefer to get this working.

  • Another N80 Bluetooth Post

    Hi Everyone,
I have noticed from the debate around bluetooth and the N80 that there does appear to be a problem or two! I have searched through the forum and I cannot find a coherent thread, so I thought that I would post a new one! Although I don’t have a fix I thought that I would outline my findings.
I have a Nokia N80 with the following details:
    3.0617.0.6
    03.05.2006
    RM-92
    Nokia N80 (31.01)
I also have an Audi fitted Bluetooth car kit and the phone connects fine for the first time. After 3 minutes (or there abouts) my car kit tells me (with an auditory alert) that my phone has disconnected. It even happens if I am on a call. The phone then re-connects to the car kit (I get an auditory alert from my car kit). Then after another 3 minutes (or so) my phone disconnects again. This happens a total of three times before my phone stops connecting any more. Once this has happened I need to perform a reboot of my phone in order to get it to connect to any Bluetooth devices (I use one on my laptop). I am not sure if this helps? I am sure that I have seen a setting related to screen savers, however I have been unable to relocate it in order to make a change and see what the effect is. I would be interested if anyone has any ideas....
    Many thanks in advance!
    Matt

One quick thing you could try.
Look at the paired list, and is the car kit set to authorised?
If not try setting this option. Could be the car kit pulses its BT connection, the handset sees it again and throws a wobbler. Wifes D500 did the same with my CK-7W until she eneabled that feature.
If still issues, then likely the phone - assuming other phones work fine with the kit previously.
