N80 - c:\data\installs

Just been browsing the c:\data\installs folder on my N80 using Y!Browser and seems that this folder holds copies of all the .sis files for every program i have installed on my phone
I didnt put them there, the phone must automatically keep a copy when you install something
Is it safe to delete these files to save space on the phone's internal disk? I cant see why the phone would need to keep the .sis installer files!

I guess that's coz you installed through PC suite. It first copies the files to that directory and then installs from there. Ideally it should delete the files once the installation is through. But that doesn't always happen.

Integrating Adobe CS6 updates into Trial to make and upto date installer

Hi,
As the title says i would like to create and upto date installer for cs6 so that i can install it when i need to with all the updates already integrated rather than have to download them each time.
1) Is this possible
2) if it is, how do i go about it?

Where applicable, the apps are already the updated versions. Beyond that there is no way to rig this differently AFAIK. Some updaters are patch installers that check and are dependent on existing full install while at the same time actualyl removing faulty components and it would be a nightmare to just create a custom install package for that.

Inherited Linksys Voice over IP and data installation.

I have just inherited a brand new linksys, voice over ip data installation. It has roughly 25 telephones and the same number of computers with new WMP300N network cards and SPA941 IP telephones. The company remodeled an old construction with 100% masonry wall (brick and/or concrete). The remodeling included the 100% wireless data and telephone installation. Now that the remodeling is finished and work has started, the network saturates as soon as there are a few users. The computers are all using LinkSys WMP300N cards and the telephones are all LinkSys SPA941. They installed approx 15 wifi repeaters for telephones and 10 for datos. They installed two separate but identical AP's, one for Data and the other for Voice but both on a 192.168.1/24 subnet.(Zonet ZSR1124WE) The folks who installed this didn't, for some reason, use LinkSys AP's and repeaters but used Zonet ZSR1124WE for all.
My questions are:
1. Wouldn't using the same subnet be the same and using the same
wire that that would allow voice/telephones to saturate and
slow down the data even though the AP's are separate?
2. Wouldn't channel interference between the aprox 25
repeaters be common?
3. If I were to remove all their equipment (APs and repeaters.)
an install 2 LynkSys AP's in the center of the offices
where there is an open patio with a watt or better amplifier
(not illegal here, not in the U.S.) output and a high gain
antenna on each of the two and using separate networks.
172.16.1/24 for datos and leave 192.168.1/24 for telephones
have a chance at success and if so could you estimate
how much of a change and recommend equipment and/or other
critical or semi-critical points that I have missed?

Umm.. you left out quite a bit of information:
How are the wired phones connected to the wireless network?
What channels do the APs use and how are they connected in between each other (and other wired data equipment)?
What kind of network is it? B, G, N?
How many WLAN channels are used? One per AP and all repeaters use the channel of the AP they repeat for?
As far as the subnet goes, the current setup shouldn't be a problem - I figure the problems are more likely to come from the wireless than the wired part of your network. Considering that you're basically halfing the throughput with each repeater (assuming the same channel which is likely since there are only 3 that do not interfere unless you have an A network) - the sheer number of repeaters is most likely to be blamed for the poor performance. Traditional WLAN networks generally use a wired backbone, plus you'd have a single net and use one of the three distinct channels in order to minimize interference.
Increasing the output of the main antenna is also only half of the problem... if you can reach clients that are farther away, those clients will also need the appropriate power output to reach the base again - and those wireless cards are limited in that way.
There are two essential pieces to tracking down a problem with your VoIP equipment:
The configuration of every device involved
SIP protocol traces
And don't forget: there's no such thing as giving too much information when describing a problem.

I want to create an "up to date" installation disk from my own one. So after installing the system shouldn't need to download any update. Is that possible? If so, how? Thanks.

I know how to make an installation disk without things that I won't use and that can be burnt in a single layer DVD. But I want to make one that would be up to date with all the updates that have been released until now included.
Is that possible? How do I download the updates? How do y include them in the DVD? I would be great if I don't have to isntall them manually after installing the macosx.
I think there should be two ways of doing so:
1.- Include the updates in the DVD and execute them after the system installation.
2.- That the installation itself were up to date.

I don't believe it is. TimeCapsule restore would be limited to the same platform it was backed up from?
I think what the OP is after is the idea of slipstreamed DVD including Snow Leopard *&* the latest combo updates. In the Windows world this is referred to as a slipstreamed install.
For example you could have the latest build of SL plus the latest combo update slipstreamed in and this should work flexibly across a number of platforms.
Unfortunately though I don't know if it's possible with OSX. It's a real time-saver in the Windows world though if you have a number of machines to deploy or if you're constantly building/assembling VMs for example.

N80 Packet Data and Orange Internet

How do I set up Packet Data and Orange internet on my Nokia N80? Been looking at loads of tutorials but cant find them on my first N80 there was an "always on connection" and sending SMS is pretty slow any ideas about getting these settings? Been on a few sites but cant find anything for Orange Internet, Packet Data and SMS. Cheers

Either go to the Orange site, support, select N80 and go into each link for text, 3g, GPRS, MMS (some links will send you the sim update)
or phone Orange on 156 and ask for them to send you all the settings via SIM update for messaging, voice mail and data etc. Explain that you've got a replacement handset, and they'll prob send your account's settings via multiple updates (including roaming options and divert options).

N80 requesting date/time after restart

I posted regarding this issue this morning. If I turn my new N80 off, it asks me for the date and time every time I turn it back on again
I have now worked out that if the handset is on charge when swithed off and back on again it retains the date/time information.
Does this mean that any 'internal' or back-up power supply is faulty/missing? I assume this phone must have one?

N80-memory full

Today i installed some themes i found on the net and when i installed the third one it came up with a message something like memory low remove data. Just curious did the phone remove the data or was it just informing me i needed to perform this task. I assumed the latter and reinstalled themes on the memory card.

When i used to get "memory full" type errors, i found it wasnt referring to memory as-in "RAM" memory, it meant disk space
Quite often if you have installed lots of apps/themes using Nokia PC Suite then the .sis files are stored on your phone and will stay there even after the installation is completed, taking up space on your phone
Use a program like "Y! Browser" and go to c:\data\installs
In this folder you will probably see lots of .sis files for things you have installed. These can all be deleted to free up space

Installation error for Win7 Adobe AIR

Tried installing to Win7, and this is the near immediate error response generated upon trying to install.
Also causes the program to continue to be in the processes tab of Windows Task Manager without any process being open.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Assuming this old post is still a problem after you try a new install of AIR: http://www.adobe.com/go/getair/
Then the error displayed seems to be a problem with .Net, so I'd next try uninstalling that.

Photoshop CS3 Extended won't recognize QuickTime installation

Hi,
using Photoshop CS3 Extended, I tried opening an animated GIF today without success. After some forum searching I found I had to import it as video into layers.
When I tried that I got this message:
"Could not complete the video frames to layers command because QuickTime version 7.1 or later is required."
I have QuickTime installed, the newest version (checked for updates and found none), and it works normally. This computer is just about 2 months old, so it's not an out-of-date installation of QuickTime, either.
I am running Windows XP Pro.
How does Photoshop determine whether QuickTime is installed or not?
Any other ideas?
I'd rather avoid re-installing programs (especially QuickTime) if there's an easier fix for this.

There was a problem with QT 7.4 and the Digital rights Management segment that conflicted with After Effects and Premier. There was an almost immediate update from Apple to 7.4.1 (6?) which fixed this problem, there may infact have been another update since then although from memory this was just an itunes update.
I'd update to the latest version which will more than likely fix the problems. If as you said you have the latest version then try uninstalling Quicktime and reinstalling it rather than using the apple updater.

Flash Builder Macintosh installation problem

I'm trying to install flashbuilder4_b2_mac_100509 on my MacBook running an up to date installation of Snow Leopard. Despite having no other applications running, I get an error message right at the beginning of the process telling me to close all browsers. I have tried installing immediately after a reboot, again with no other apps running, and still get the same message.

There seems to be no longer a Flash Builder forum where you can post, but perhaps you can ask in the Flex forum?

BPC 7.0 installation error during creation Apshell db

Dear all,
I've tried to installed SAP BPC 7.1 on multi server environment (OLAP Server, Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Reporting Services, Insight OLAP server in a windows 2003 64 bit server and Application server, File Share, Web Server in a w2003 32 bit server).
When installation start it goes fine until steps : "Create sample appset database".
Datbase AppServer has been created without errors (access to database server seems to be right with domain user used during installation).
The error is:
"Error (A file activation error occured. The physical file name 'Cannot open database "Master" requested by the login. The login failed .\DATA\ApShell.mdf' may be incorrect. Diagnose and correct additional errors, and retry the operation.).
I've checked sql server log file and I've found this error:

Prd and DR server installation

Dear All,
I have installed OBIEE 10.1.3.4 in Prodsystem1(oc4j4 and BI server and Presentation server)
BI installation Path-->Shared network path e.g "SharedOracleBI"
Data Installation Path-->Shared network path e.g "SharedOracleBIData"
When Prodsystem1 failed we should start automatically DRsystem2.
How will do this?
DRsystem2 also need to install oc4j and BI server and Presentation server?
If yes What BI server path can give?
What BI Data path can i give?
How oc4j work ? Is it 9704 port?
Database available in single ip for Prodsystem1 and DRsystem1.
Could you please explain me.

I have 2 production server like below
Prod1: Installation path OracleBI and OracleBIData (both folder mounted in SAN)
DR1: Installation path OracleBI and OracleBIData (both folder mountes in SAN, what we are pointed Prod1)
My question is
1. We need to install 2 machines seperatly (Prod1 and DR1) or ?
2. If yes How will give installation path while OBIEE istallal DR1 machine.
Note: My aim is when Prod1 goes down then start automatically DR1 machine,but .rpd and catalog should be one place.

Please Note, I found that when running the installer, I ran out of disk space. I de-installed the products, and tried to re-install them. I found I was unable to run rapidwiz.cmd. The result being I have one machine in limbo, until I get a responce to the problem, and I had to re-build a second, to get past the error.

Black Ink HP 45 Expiration Date

I have a HP Deskjet 880C, which uses HP 45 black ink, and I was wondering if this model printer is effected by the expiration date/installation date listed on the ink. Also, if it is effected, how does it effect usage? Thanks.

The 45 cartridges have an internal spring bag to regulate ink back pressure. A vent is not required. Removing the fill plug ball will likely allow the ink to dribble out the nozzles and is NOT recommended.
Are you using cartridges that are very old? Check the "install before" or "warranty ends" date on the back of the package. If the cartridges are very old they may not print properly. You can also check the warranty date (two years from the date of manufacture) as shown in the document here.
