N80 Content Copier Problem

I had an N80 which I backed up and now the phone has been damaged.
Is there a way that I can restore the data that was stored?
The file is .nbu file. I want to copy the details onto my new PDA SPV M3100.
How can this be done?

I guess you mean moving contacts, diary entries, pictures and sounds, messages etc?
I think your only option is going to be to:
- borrow a phone
- restore your backup to it
- copy photos, music etc to the PC
- sync the phone with Outlook on the PC
- sync outlook with your new organiser
- copy photos, music etc from the PC
Notice you're not going to get any messages moved.

    Hi,
I just updated to the latest software v21.0.016 for N95. I did the content copier prior to updating and now when i am trying to recover it back onto my phone it keeps freezing at 85%. I tried twice but it does the same thing. I am thinking that out of the thousands of posts it has been covered somewhere but i cant find it. Is there some way i can at least put the contacts on?
Thanks a heap for your help

it always helps when you actually use the updated pc suite

    Hi marecg,
Do one thing before you uninstall / reinstalling pc suites, make use of noki, an application for nokia backup files.
you can download noki from http://www.nokisoft.com/
Utilise this application and store your data on your pc in safe and once you are very sure that you are data are safer, you can go for uninstalling/reinstalling pc suite versions etc., Which handset are you using? What is pc suite version you are using now ?
Are you using any Nseries phone, if so, try this in latest OVI Suite 1.1.180 version.

  • 9300 content copier problem and others

    Hi
my properties are win xp service pack 1.pc suite ver 6.70.22, bluetooth connection.
tried backing up my phone but when its 22% done i get an error message. what could be wrong?
i have forgotten the password for my memory card. what can i do to disable it.
Does anybody know how to make contact names appear on the computer when you are in messages?
    lord arokian

Almost certainly caused by PC Suite 6.7 being buggy. Go back to v6.6 and you should be OK.

  • Worthy note for content copier users--

I always thought content copier was backing up my message folders which contanined important messages on my phone.
I now think it does not. You have to move the messages form your folders in messaging app to the inbox then do a back up.
I presumed it was backing up and restoring as tey were still there after I updated my firmware and restored but actually it is probably because they are stored on my memory card and the remained during the update anyway.
So if I had to format the mass memory all my messages would have gone and Id have no back up of them.
    Is this right?
Cant nokia change it so that content copier backs up message folders as well?
I.e it backs up the entire messaging program and all sub folders??
It also appears not to be backing up messages that have been bluetoothed to me.

Dissapointing reply from Nokia Careline when I reported the Content Copier problem. Evidently there are some issues with the latest PC Suite. Here is the reply:
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
In response to your inquiry, please be advised that we suggest you to try using the previous version of the Nokia PC Suite. You can download the lower version of Nokia PC Suite from the CD Installer included in the sales package. Alternatively, you may use the Ovi Suite to back up your data.
You may like to visit our website at www.nokia.com.my for more information and support for your Nokia device. If you have further enquiries, please write to us again or contact Nokia Careline at 1300 881600. We operate between the hours of 8.00am and 8.00pm, seven days a week.

  • Content Copier has removed my messages - N80

Hi I backed up my N80 using content copier. I then updated it and my messages had gone. They were stored on my 1gb mem card (used options to store messages on mem card) I then restored it and went through the faq instructions below but no matter what I do, I always get the same message... "Unable to access mem. card. Messages will be stored to phone memory" I have hundreds of messages I would like to recover. Please help. I am sure they are stored in the xxx.nbu file. can I get them out of there? thanks ------------------------------------------------------- FAQ Instructions - failed Q: I have backed up my phone. Then I got new software for my phone and now I'm trying to restore the backup to my phone. All information except for short messages (SMSs) are restored. A: This problem might occur if you are using an S60 or S80 phone (like a Nokia Nseries phone, Nokia Eseries phone, Nokia 6630). These phone models require a support file to be installed on the phone to enable SMS handling. You can install the needed support file by opening File Manager and by selecting your phone folder -> Messages -> Inbox. Follow the instructions on your phone. After succesfull installation, restart the restore process. Alternative keywords: NCC, Content Copier, partial, partially

Curious. I did exactly the same and got all my messages back no problem. Having said that, I didn't have many.
How about trying to switch the message storage to card using the card that came with the phone, then switching back to your 2Gb card?

  • Content Copier cannot restore backup

Last night I backed up my phone with Content Copier
    using PC Suite 6.84
    On a Windows XP machine
    For a N73 phone.
I then upgraded the firmware on my phone. And went to restore the backup. However, Content Copier (which I now understand why it's not named Content Restorer) cannot find the .nbu file. So I checked to see if the file was really there. And yes it is in the default location. So I decided to make a copy of it and place it in a separate location and try to browse to it. But no luck.
Odd thing is that the first page says " The latest backup from this phone was made 7/31/2007 22:18". Which tells me it knows the file is there.
So out of curiosity I tried backing up the N80 at the house. And same thing, it backs up fine and doesn't see the file to restore it. The next logical step was maybe PC Suite had a bad install I will uninstall and reinstall. Did..done...nope... neither phone can see the backup file made for it.
I have read many of the posts here and was able to restore my contacts using the Contact Transfer program. Which seems to see the files no problem. How do I get everything back to my phone?

Nope no crashes, no new software other than Software Updater. Which is currently not installed. And that did exist at the time but an old version.
Ok I just did something I HAD already tried...Simply double-clicking the backup file. I don't think I had done that since uninstalling and removing the registry entries though. But it appears to be working.
This doesn't explain why I still can't see the files when I browse for them or why they aren't seen in the default location. It restored everything but my
    - Contacts (which had already been restored)
    - Calendar and notes (none)
    - Text messages (failed in the backing up process, but don't get me started and upon closer inspection it did restore my SMS)
    - Multimedia messages(same)
    - Emails(none)
Well I am going to be happy I got my files back...And hope that PC Suite has the bugs worked out before the N80 needs a new firmware. Thanks tons for your help.
PS I still haven't heard back from Nokia Support Department. Talk about Customer Service.

  • PC Suite 7.1.40.1 Content Copier does not work.

The Content Copier in PC Suite 7.1.40.1 fails to Backup the Data from the Phone. "The phone did not contain any content ..."
All Attempts to uninstall, delete Directories and Registry Keys did not help.
The Content Copier from 7.1.30.9 works fine.
    OS: Windows XP Pro SP3

I'm also having problems with V7.1.40.1 of this software, running on WinXP Home edition V2002 SP3.
(via Bluetooth Toshiba stack) from a 6600 Slide.
Trying to backup Contacts list (the MOST important data!!!) it just sits there forever with the 'busy' wheel twiddling round and zero % progress on the display bar.  It DOES say it might take a while but more than 30 minutes with nothing indicated for only a couple of hundred contacts suggests actually no progress at all!  It IS possible to read contact, calendar, messages etc., using other apps in the suite - but then the progress bar on the PC Suite display tends to stop, showing (eg.) 90%, although it looks like all the content has been transferred.  Using other apps, of course you can't create an alternative backup file!!!
When the contacts list fails to transfer, the phone screen momentarily flashes up a 'sync complete' message after only a few seconds - although I THOUGHT I was backing-up, not sync'ing!
PC Suite looks like a very nice software package - but does ANYONE (except US!!!) actually test it with real data and real phones???

  • PC Suite 6.81.13: Content Copier 3.0 crashes at 10...

After doing what seems to be a successful backup the content copier program crashes after several minutes of disk activity when at 100%.
This occurs only with 6.81.13 - the previous issued versions of PC Suite e.g. 6.7 do not have this problem.
This was repeated on 2 PC's both with Windows XP (1 home edition, 1 professional).
Both PCs have a previous version of PC Suite installed that was deinstalled via the installation of the latest version.
The backups were done from my Nokia 9500 using the DKU2 cable.
Also tried it with my wifes 9300 - same thing happened.
Because of the severity of this problem I considered reinstalling the previous version but I already deleted that and I cannot seem to access previous versions of PC Suite via the normal website.Message Edited by djmoore670 on 25-Sep-2006

    PC Suite 6.82 fixes this.

  • Critical error in Content copier

    Hi everybody!
Installed the latest version of PC Suite.
When I launch the program it connect to my phone (6111) via Bluetooth.
File manager works, Messages works....but, I can't make the backup.
When i stasrt content copier, it sees my mobile phone but, when i click on "Backup" after 5 seconds it says: "A critical error occurred (0x80400001). Restart your phone and content copier. If this do not help, try restart your pc". But even if I restart both of them it still not working...
THIS IS MAKING ME MAAAAAAAAAAD. I NED TO BACKUP MY CONTACTS!
The strange thing is that with teh previous version of PC suite it worked.
Anyway, I tried to reinstall the previous version but it works no more.
    I'm using WinXP SP2
and a Belkin Bluetooth USB key (with WIDCOMM drivers).
    Please help me!
    THANKS :-)

I also have same problem. I have a 6230i and previous version of Nokia PC Suite worked fine.
Is the name that appears in the content copier important? Because in my case it shows ?s????p????? . This is probably because I had changed the phone name in the bluetooth settings and now I can NOT change the name that appears in PC Suite back to "Nokia 6230i". (I used IVT bluesoleil software.)
Also I cannot copy the sounds folder using the "sounds" folder using the file manager. I get message about copyright protection.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Content Copier freezes with N95

    Hi there,
I just updated my software on my N95.
I did everything right and have been trying to restore the backup I made with content copier.
My problem is that it doesn't complete the restore and seems to stop at 68%. I thought that maybe it wasn't responding, but it was still running and seems to be responding normally.
The backup was successful, but I just can't restore it.
Any ideas? I have a lot of numbers and calendar entries on my phone that I need to get back. I thought I was doing the right thing by backing up my details, but I still seem to have lost it all.
    Thanks for your help

    Hi there,
I managed to get my contacts back because I had luckily sync-ed my phone earlier. Though I had forgotten I'd done it.
I checked your way of doing it and found the calendar details (among a lot of other junk I had to sort through.)
I just did the PC sync again and it loaded them all back on (though I made a copy of my Outlook address book first, just in case)
I'll definately have to remember both ways. I'm just glad that I have got my numbers back. The calendar I can deal with.
    Thanks

  • Connection problme with "Content copier"

    Hi,
I have a problem with application content copier.
When i load program the downlaod begin but after few time the message : connection lost appear.
I haven't any problem with other applications of pc suite.
I have try to install pc suite, i worked with nokia nseries pc suite and it's the same.
    Could you help me please?

try to restore backup category by category and not all at one time. the problem usually is one of the categories " mostly the contacts" , if so it might be beacause you had some contacts with special characters on the name fields.
if the problem is in the contacts category, try to use sync option if you have ever sync'ed your contacts to outlook before.

  • Content copier backup has contacts etc. but won't ...

I have a problem with Content Copier backups from my E71 to my PC.
    1) I choose to backup everything.
    2) Backup proceeds, but says there was an error: on viewing logs there is nothing listed under "These items could not be backed up" heading. Backup log says contacts, messages, calender have all been backed up.
    3) On finishing backup my E71 is sometimes left with a semi-blank Home screen, and hung. Have to remove battery to get it working again.
    4) On trying to restore this backup, contacts, messages, notes, calendar aren't listed as being included in the backup.
Installing the trial version of Noki shows that the backups DO indeed contain contact details. But presumably there's something in the backup file that makes Content Copier think that contact details aren't in fact there, or that they're corrupted.
    PC Suite 7.1.18.0
    E71 firmware version 100.07.76 and 200.21.118

    I don't think it's the phone.
I've now tested using Content Copier to do backups on my laptop. This still had PC Suite 7.0.9.2 on it, and the backup completed without error, including "Settings" to backup phone-specific settings. I then upgraded PC Suite to 7.1.18.0 and now the backup fails if I have "Settings" selected.
I've also tried completely uninstalling PC Suite and reinstalling 7.1.18.0 but I still get failed backups.
PC Suite 7.0.9.2: backup works correctly, including "Settings"
PC Suite 7.1.18.0: backup fails if "Settings" are selected to be backed up
I've opened the backup files in Write, and both failed and completed backups contain Contacts data in VCARD format (which is presumably why Noki could see contact data), but the completed backups also have another 18Mbytes of binary data that are missing from the failed backup files (presumably the phone-specific settings stuff).
It would be nice if Content Copier could allow me to extract the Contacts and Calendar data from a failed backup: the data is in there!
I've been communicating all this with Nokia Europe Support, so hopefully this will be fixed soon.

  • Set Content Copying: Not allowed in Adobe forms

We have developed an adobe form, non interactive form, which has scanned signatures, incorporated as images, of authorized personnel.
But we found that these signatures (images) can be copied by standard copy (Ctr+c).
After a brief study we could find out that we need to set the Content Copying as Not allowed, in document properties, as one of the possible solution, but we are unable to do so.
Could you please suggest a way out as to how do we set Content Copying: Not allowed, in the document properties, of the PDF document.

    Thank you for your view.
The XML equivalent of the Adobe form, designed, has a tag <PDF security> which has "copy content" set as 1.  The possible solution to my problem is to set the copy content to zero or a value which deactivates the copy content. But even though we set the value to zero, the moment we activate the form it reset itself to 1. Could you please elaborate on this one?

  • Content copier stops and freezes
