N80 - n80i

Hi,
Im sure this has been asked 100+ times... But I cant seem to get it to work...
My Mobile details:
V.4.0623.0.42
20-09-2006
RM-92
Nokia N80 (33.01)
When I do a Nokia Software Update it says i have the latest version.. But there is 4.0632.0.36 update somewhere. How do I get this firmware to install on my mobile ?
Any help would be great
Cheers,
Nick

the firmware you have is for N80 & the firmware you wana get is for N80 Internet Edition.
You cant get this update coz N80 & N80 Internet Edition have got different Product Codes. You have to change your N80 product code to a N80IE product code & then Nokia Software Updater will update your firmware to the 1 which you want. But in the process you'l get your waurantee void coz u'l change the product code & changing the product code will void your waurantee.
I have N80 myself & i updated it to N80 Internet Edition. I can tell you, there's literaly no difference between the two excepting for the name tag that 'yeh, i'v got a N80 Internet Edition'.
cheers

    Hi all,
    I'm looking for a new SLIDE phone. Reliability/Bug wise, which is the better choice? N80 /N80i / N81 /N81 8gb?
Any other thoughts/opions that may sway me one way or another ?
eg the LCD display... N81 has a smaller yet more colours available in its LCD display (according to online specs.) Having not seen any of these phones 'in the flesh'... A big issue?
OS/Firmware... Are certain OS'es (symbian etc) better than others? are firmware updates easily obtainable and end user installable?

  • N80 Restarting A.K.A. "WSOD" when playing large mp...

I love Anime's so I'm converting my "RMVB" or "AVI" video files from my pc to "MP4" so that i can watch in my N80.
here is the setting when i convert the files to MP4:
    Video
    -resolution is "352x288 (CIF)"
-frame rate(FPS) is set to "auto"
-Bit rate is set to "512"
    Audio
-im just setting it to "mono" and "128kbps"
    file size: is almost 110mb
there are two situation that i observed before the WSOD is happening:
    1st situation:
when i try to play the mp4 file using "imaging folder---> realplayer".
    2nd situation:
when i try to play the mp4 file using "gallery--> images and videos".
both situation makes my n80 restart A.K.A "WSOD" but the difference is it is restarting more often when im using the 1st situation that i couldnt enjoy what im watching.
In the 2nd situation i can play up to two 30 mins MP4 videos and then on the 3rd video usually WSOD will appear.
can someone tell me why this is happening? And this is only happening when im watching Video. Is this a firmware bug? pls help thanks.

yeah white screen of death... im thinking of that too. im suspecting 3 things why this is happening
    -the firmware
    -version of realplayer
    -or the converted file itself
if it's the converted file, can you please recommend a video converter that will convert a file that is compatible with nokia n80/n80ie... im using "xilisoft video converter" right now, maybe not recommended for nokia files. theres a lot of automatic setting their for lots of device but there's none for nokia.
and also, is their somebody also experiencing this? i already read many threads here but did not find anything the same like this. thanks :-)

  • N80. I can't connect to PC. bluetooth from toshiba...

    my N80 version V4.0623.0.42
    my PC Suite version 6.82.22.0
my bluetooth software version v4.20.08(T) Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba
pcsuite is not found my n80
    help me please!

    Hi Noan,
I have a Toshiba bluetooth chip in my laptop and had a few problems with PCSuite, i.e. it worked when it fancied doing so.
I didn't find the Toshiba stack and software bundle very informative on how to use it or what it is able to do, it seemed to be very limited in what tasks it let you perform.
I have used the Microsoft stack since and can safely say it has improved bluetooth usage 10 fold.
Not only does PCSuite work seamlessly, it is a lot easier to send and receive files across bluetooth too.
This is my opinion, so it may not be suitable for all.
Makes sure you have a copy of your Toshiba stack and software in case you prefer it.
Try uninstalling your Toshiba bluetooth software ('Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control Panel' -> 'Add/Remove Programs' -> Select the relevant program) and/or remove the Toshiba stack/hardware ('Properties' of 'My Computer' -> Hardware -> Device Manager, then uninstall the bluetooth hardware).
Try rebooting and Windows should install the device and it's own drivers as well as enable the MS bluetooth software.
I have full End User experience of:

  • N80-Won't allow me to update firmware-HELP

    Hi
I'm having problems with my phone, specifically with my camera which no longer works, I can only use the secondary camera which is awful. I was advised by board members to update my firmware however I get the dreaded 'minimum requirement 256mb' message, apparently I don't have enough RAM. I'm not prepared to do anything to increase the memory on my laptop so how do I go about updating the firmware? Is there an alternative? I certainly don't want the incompetents at Carphonewarehouse doing it!
    OR
is there an alternative camera program I can load?
    Please help!
ThanksMessage Edited by thatfreep on 28-Jun-200708:07 PM

Firmware upgrades are really straightforward: I think I'd trust a snotty 17-year-old to do it, given he's probably done more of them in his 3 weeks on the job than I've done in a lifetime.
Must be kind of a strange camera problem if a firmware fix would help. I don't recall hearing that any of the firmware releases for the N80 did much for the camera. There was a rumour that the N80 -> N80ie upgrade slightly improved image quality, but that was never really confirmed.
I suspect if you have serious camera problems, your phone's probably going to have to go in for repair anyway.

If your PC already has WLAN, and your PC also has a fixed/cable connection to the Internet, then it might be possible to make your PC a router (Windows' "Connection Sharing" feature + the WLAN in ad-hoc mode).
I've never tried as I have WLAN access points/routers that I use, instead.
Yes it is possible, have played about with mine and successfully used it. You will need to bridge the connections between your internet connection and your wifi connection on your laptop.
Nowhere near as easy as using a router though.

  • N80 voip - pls give it to us nokia

i have read 100's of threads on this site and many more sites about how to use voip on the NORMAL N80 not the N80ie.
It seems that unless you buy an N80ie you cannot use VOIP.
Some threads on this site suggest that you cannot convert your n80 to an n80i as its different hardware....well we no this is untrue as on 'other' forums people have done it.
My question , wish, beg is will n olia please provide thier N80 customers with a firmware / download to enable us to use the voip feature that exists on the n80i
...unless of course somebody techy has already sorted a way of doing it.
I have heard tivi can suppoet the n80, but is bad quality etc...
pls nokia see sense on this one...it will only take one of your clever people 10mins to put the software on this site )

Yes you can convert N80 to B80i with no problem.
Did it and can use voip now on my N80.
As I stated in different thread N80=N80IE hardware speaking, no difference at all.
Actually neither the voip client or the firmware are available for download from Nokia.Message Edited by ajak on 06-Dec-2006

  • Browse HTM files on Memory Card

I would like to browse html files that I have saved (using a card reader) on my memory card, but keep getting a "file not found" error message.
Would some kind soul please tell me what address I should enter when using "Go To Address"?
I'm using a 6230, my memory card is called "Card" and one of the files is called "start.htm"

You'll almost certainly need to open the file from a file browser like File Manager or Y-Browser.
The Web browser will only be looking at an internet address not a local address.

  • Cut, copy,and paste on nokia n97

    6680,n70,n73,n80,n80ie,n82,n95,innov8,n85, n97, N8, lumia 920

I had some difficulty locating this 3 line icon myself.
Turns out that if you close the screen down and tap the input box on the web page you want to paste the text into, up pops an application (text entry I suppose, anyway it has a load of stuff, green tick top left, and then this magical 3 line icon, followed by what I assume is the predictive text input status, a keyboard icon, left/right arrow keys, backspace, and then your usual phone pad entry).  Tap the 3 line icon and the text you copied earlier is pasted into the text display area of this app.  Then hit the green tick and it gets pasted into the field you first double clicked on in the web page.
    I hope that helps?
BTW, doesn't matter what orientation the screen is in using this method, just that the screen is folded flat back on the phone to hide the qwerty keyboard.

  • GPS non-functional on out of box Nokia E90 in Indi...

    Hi,
GPS isn’t working on my father’s Nokia E90. Apparently, it can’t find GPS satellites. I haven’t installed any Nokia or 3rd party software. All I have on the phone are the default, out of the box packages. How do I start troubleshooting GPS? Please help.
    Connection: Vodafone India, Kolkata.

Try checking whether it has Assisted GPS (A-GPS) enabled, the standard set up takes ages (up to an hour on mine) to lock onto satellites.
    To do this:
Tools -> Settings -> General -> Positioning (at the bottom) -> Positioning Methods
Enable "Assisted GPS" and disable "Integrated GPS". Mine finds and locks on to satellites with a minute.
If you don't have A-GPS listed, a firmware update might be needed to get hold of this setting.

  • Images/videos on N70 have disappeared!

The memory card door on my phone opened and I have now lost all my images/videos that I had on the memory card. I have searched everywhere to try and get them back on my phone but have had no luck. Please, please can someone tell me how I can get these back. I haven't backed them up onto anywhere else. Thank you for your help.

Have you tried rebooting the phone without the card installed, then switching it off, inserting the card and switching it back on?

im a happy owner of nokia n97. I love the browser compared to others i have used, think about this suggestion think about the video player for the n97 where videos can be watch even though icons are still present(they are not in way or hiding anything. )  if this method is applied to browser especially when zooming atleast you could see what your doing.  i like the see through effect it makes things easier. also it would be nice to have most of the option in photos available in music player. thanks keep up good work nokia

  • Updating nokia n95 8 gb using device manager?

    Hi friends
Can anyone tell me how to update n95 using device manager option in the phone?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi amitkr
Presumably you are referring to FOTA feature for which ironically it seems that more S60 3rd edition devices (Non-Feature Pack 1) were supported and actually used this feature than the actual FP1 devices themselves. Think of the N80, N80IE and N73, all supporting and even frequently updating via FOTA.
Nokia then seemed to be making a new attempt at using FOTA by releasing the FOTA-only software version 11.043 for the FP2-based N78 and of course now for N96.
