N80 PC Suite wont backup phone (connection lost)

After i received my phone and played with it a bit i installed the Nokia PC Suite and made a backup successfully
Now after a couple of weeks use i thought it would be a good idea to make an up-to-date backup of the phone, however now when i try and backup the phone contents it gets to 1% and says "Connection to phone lost. Reconnect and try again"
Now it works fine if i try and backup only the memory card, but wont backup the phone contents
I've tried it on another PC and it has the same problem. I've tried re-installing PC Suite from the CD and the web, updating to the latest version, re-installing N80 cable drivers etc
Any ideas why it no longer wants to work?
N80 Generic v4.0623.0.42, N80 Orange v4.0623.0.41, 6288 Generic v5.92, SE K750i

Hi cracker1979,
I think its a good idea to try out a later version and/or log a call to Nokia on this.
In the mean time, as a workaround (but not as the eventual solution), you may want to backup you phone content to your miniSD at Menu, Tools, Memory card, Options & Backup phone mem.
Cheers. ^_^;

  • PC Suite wont backup !! 6680

Have just upgraded my 6680 to the latest firmware.
Using PC suite, no problems at all. However when I went to backup to restore my original settings it said that it had not completed and to do it again, now when I click the backup icon it ignores me and just sits there but does not run the backup program. Am using a usb cable which worked fine on the dowload and installed the software fine on the phone.
Any ideas folks would be appreciated.
    Regards Cliff

    Open PC Suite
    Open Backup
Then connect phone and press restore.
Describe in detail how if fails and what error messages do you get.
Also use the Windows Explorer to locate the folder
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Nokia\ContentCopier
to see if you can find your backupfile from there. Check also the size of the backup file.

  • PC Suite says no phone connected, but working

After updating to 6.82.22 (from 6.78) I couldn't connect to my 6233 via Bluetooth (Widcomm 4.01.700). It hang's after entering authorization code on the phone. I uninstalled PC suite, used PC Suite cleaner and rebooted. After installing from the scratch I could complete the pairing process. After next reboot PC Suite says "no phone connected", no cable driver installed, no supported BTstack found - but every component of PC Suite is working and I have full access to the phone. OS: Win2k Server SP4, BTstack: Widcomm 4.01.700 PC Suite 6.82.22

Yes - thanks. Now it says connected and gives the BTstack Version in system information. Seems to be a problem with startup, even if the BT tray icon launch up before PC Suite and PC Suite seems to be the last to launch.

  • Why wont my phone connect to itunes?

I have updated my phone and Itunes, and now it wont connect to the computer or itunes to charge? any one know how to fix it?

Has the iPhone ever worked with your computer?
For the charging issue, take a look at this Apple doc -> iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Battery does not charge from the USB power adapter
Important:  Only original iPhone can be charged from a FireWire-based power source. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the battery may drain.
Verify that the outlet being used is working.
Try another USB power adapter if available.
If no other USB power adapter  is available, try connecting to a high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode.
Try another USB cable if available.
Also refer to iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery.
If that doesn't also take care of the iPhone not being recognized problem, one of these Apple docs should help ya out:

  • Pc suite wont connect?? N80

can anyone help me on this forum?
ive been on several forums and followed instructions and nothing has changed, ill try to explain my problem.
ive got the n80 and been using pc suite ok with it untill i upgraded the firmware to v4.623.0.41
now the cable wont connect to pc suite, i can connect to my laptop via the cable and bluetooth but both wont work with pc suite...
ive tried, deleting pc suite, updating pc suite, cleaning registery, reinstalling cable driver, replacin missin dll files the deleting all again and doin same over.
ive reformatted the n80 and still wont connect, when i connect the cable it asks options and when i press data bridge it does connect but says its not compatable to work with pc suite so please someone out there help me then i will post in other forum and help others too with same problems
    thanks in advance

Did the N80 drivers install properly after you reinstalled PC suite?
I think your only option is to uninstall PC Suite and the Cable driver and run the clean up tool, download the latest version of PC Suite and install yet again.
When you get to the part of the installation where you connect the phone, check that the drivers are being installed - there should be a "Found new hardware" message and then a series of messages about things being installed.
If you don't get these, then maybe your cable has failed - have you tried having that replaced?

  • "Connection lost" while updating phone software in...

    Good day.
I got a notification on the Suite that there is a phone update (v11.40) for my Nokia C2-01. I wanted to upgrade my phone's software so I decided to go on with it.
The backup phase is good, but later it said "Connection lost" during the installation.
I canceled the installation, and when I turned on my C2-01, it shows "Test mode" on the screen. So I switched it off. Luckily after a few minutes I tried to switch it on again and the phone goes back to normal.
What should I do to avoid this situation from happening again? I'm using version 3.6 of the software and I hope this won't happen in version 3.7. Thank you.

Can you tell me the OS of the PC that you are using? You can try this troubleshooting and see if it will work:
In Windows 7 and Windows Vista the reason for failure may be caused by windows trying to download and install additional conflicting device drivers during the update process.
To disable windows device installation for the duration of the Nokia Suite process do to following:
Access "Control Panel" and select "System and Security", and from there select "System"
Next select "Advanced System Settings" and then the "Hardware" tab, and select "Device Installation Settings"
From "Device Installation Settings", choose "No, let me choose what to do" and next select "Never install driver software from windows update"
    Click "Save Changes"
After this process please try to run the Nokia Suite process again. You may need to manually connect to your device again using Nokia Suite's "Add New Device".
Remember to enable the windows device driver settings after successfull installation.

  • Nokia Suite 3.3.86 connection with E7 lost via USB...

    Hi,
    I am having a Windows 7 64Bit system.
I updated 2 days ago from previous Nokia Suite (don't know the exact previous version) to the latest version 3.3.86.
After rebooting my system, no connection could be made anylonger to my smartphone Nokia E7-00.
I did everything available in the help, rebooting Phone, rebooting PC again. The bluetooth has gone, Nokia Suite says "no phone found (tried with my old E65 also), and if the USB cable is connected, nothing happens.
Though Windows 7 sees the phone, in the bluetooth and also using the USB Cable. I do have 1 error in the device manager "bluetooth periheral device driver", and I can't install it separately, it is not found.
I do hope someone here can help mé out, Since I lost all connection, no sync with calendar is possible, no installation of apps, no installation of maps, no backup.....you get my drift?????
My smartphone is now a normal Cell phone, only avaible for calls!!!
    Thanks
    Gerrit

    Hi GerritBeylemans,
Could you please try out these steps:
Exit Nokia Suite (File -> Exit ) and Disconnect you device from your PC
Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Devices and Printers
See if your device is listed there. Right click you device and delete it.
    Now connect you device
A bubble notification, "Installing device drivers for your device will appear up", click that bubble
See if all the things go successfully
If it is all OK then start Nokia Suite (If not, then take a screenshot of that and upload it in reply to this post)
Start Nokia Suite and see if your device is shown as connected
Now try out updating your phone software
I hope it will help you to connect your phone via USB.
If you still encounter the error, we would need logs as a next step to investigate it further.
For your bluetooth device, I would recommend you to check which bluetooth hardware is in your PC (Check the user manual of your PC). Then download the exact same drivers for your device.
When your bluetooth device is working properly, then you will be able to connect your phone to Nokia Suite using bluetooth.
    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Nokia Suite Team.

  • N80 PC Suite not-connecting via USB

Connected once via USB cable (CA-53), but won't connect again.
    N80
    PC Suite version 6.80.53.3
    Windows XP Pro version 2002
    Service Pack 2
No anti-virus running or firewall upon installation.
    Phone data cable mode-"PC Suite"
No USB connection "beep" on laptop.
No error message, just the typical "working" icon.
Did spend some time searching the discussion site, but couldn't find anything.
Appreciate any suggestions or help out there in cyber...
    Thanks

I do not recognise the PC Suite version ? If there is no bleep sound, if indicates that the physical connection does not happen, so pressing the connector firmly to its place might help, also changing the usb port in your pc
