N80 Problem

When I want to connect a N80 to computer via cable, it says: USB device not recognized  Why? And another problem!!! When i want to install some apps(over Bluetooth) it says: File corrupted! I've tried to install it on my friend's N80, and it worked perfectly! The app is Nokia BarCode Reader...downloaded from nokia.com HELP

  • N80 Problem. Pls Help!!!!

My N80 has a big problem. After installing the latest firmware V5.0719.0.2 RM-92 through nokia updater, I cant hear sound from my ear piece. The keytone sound has gone eventhough is activited in the profile. I can only use the loudspeaker to hear sound and voice from call.
Is it the firmware problem or my hardware????
If it is the firmware problem, how can I reinstall the previous version?
    Pls help!!!

Yes, that sounds just like a worn ribbon cable. Perhaps you should get it replaced. I am not sure where you are but supposedly it only costs RM50 (€12)to replace in Malaysia, so not too expensive.

  • Nokia n80 problem with bluetooth

    hello all
i have an n80 which i have given to my mother.
there seems to be a problem with bluetooth. i can connect it to my laptop by bluetooth and use the connection to browse the phone and transfer files but for some reason when i try to sync with outlook the connection always fails, all the time, no matter what.
can anyone think of any reason for this?
i have tried looking for firmware updates as i havent used the handset for 18mths but i cant find the pc cable so it wont identify the phone when i run a search.
any suggestions (apart from find the cable!) will be appreciated

Not being technically qualified enough on specifications of Bluetooth 3 all I can say is that Bluetooth SDP = Service Discovery Protocol seems to be absent fron N8, whereas it is present on say 5800XM and N97 Mini which appear to behave faultlessly with Toyota Bluetooth unit if this sheds any light.
Happy to have helped forum with a Support Ratio = 42.5

  • Another N80 PROBLEM (I think?)

i was stupid enough to get an N80 on ORANGE... eversince the phones constantly connecting to orange internet without even a warning!
has anyone else had this problem or do you think its the sim
is there anything i can do to fix it!

    Seraphin,
Dont know what your problem is but you seem to constantly be giving insults to people who dont conform to your ideas or suggestions here.
I have spoken to many people who are not happy about the operator firmware because of problems it gives them because of restrictions and the way that the operator configures the phone so that you have to use their sevices, especially in the begining withought realizing and actualy being charged a large amount of money for these services.
I made one suggestion that somebody can take or not, its up to them, not you..the suggestion wasnt meant for you.
I know many people who have upgraded from network specific firmware to non network specific firmware, and some of those upgrades were done at Nokia sevice centers and the warantees on those phones are still intact. This rightly or wrongly has been explained to them by the NSC and if there is a problem with warantee then this is the problem of the NSC that the upgrade was made.
please keep your personal insults to yourself, or as I have suggested to you before PM me and I will answer you directly, as you keep telling us to the point that its getting boring, these forums are for help and advice, I dont see insults either helpull or good advice.

  • N80 problems with 02 sim

When my N80 has an 02 pay-as-you-go sim card in, I get a "General: System Error" every time I try to read an SMS message. This effectively hangs the phone and I have to remove the battery to stop the beeping and carry on the error causes.
If I put in my Telstra sim card, then there is no problem (even with the same messages).
I used the Nokia Software updater to confirm that the firmware was current (it is) but tried reinstalling it all anyway, which made no difference.
Any clues as to what I can do to correct this problem? My N80 was purchased in Singapore, and is not under contract to any UK service provider.

Is it something to do with the sim having to be registered for the 3g network? I'm sure somebody had the same problem when they first got an N80 as the sim supplied was not 3G
Is that an N95 in your pocket or are you just pleased to see me?!?

  • Various N80 problems

    Hello all!
I'm a new Nokia N80 owner.. I've used SE's for the past 6 years and thought it was time to move to a smarter phone..
Well.. I've had the phone a month and it's all gone wrong, several times.
Firstly my photos stored on my phone and on my 1 gig memory card were no longer showing up on the phones gallery and the only way to access them was to view through the File Mgr. application. This would take forever and a day to load... but eventually they did.
I thought the smart thing to do would be to upload the latest firmware.. I did this and the phone died a horrid death giving me the 'Contact retailer' message after booting up.
I tried the hard reset etc and nothing worked so I took it to carphone warehouse who told me it would be ready to collect free of charge in 24 hours.
I returned the very next day to be told the phone had been sent away and could take up to 4 weeks.
Anyway, last week Thursday I received my phone back and woopie, it turns on and functions.. only.. it functions to the extent it did before i tried and failed the firmware update.
    So.. my current problems:
I cannot view images / movies in the gallery
When I use the datacable it automatically disconnects itself just toward the end of doing whatever action it is doing.. such as:
I tried to move the images from my phone to my desktop pc .. it moves the files then brings up the window to tell me it is deleting the files from the phones card memory.. around the 75% mark it tells me connection to the phone has been lost.. even if I do not touch the phone, the pc and am in another room! My USB sockets are fine it is not them!!
PLEASE!!! Any help would be most gratefully received and I would do a big smile.
    Ta.
    Jamie

Don't understand this: I've never had this problem with my N80 - even using old firmware.
My guess - and that's all it is - is that maybe you had too many pictures for the gallery to cope with (the fact it takes a long time to open the directory in File Manager suggest you have a LOT of files in there) ..

Usually this is because the connector at the bottom of the phone is dire. Basically, if you so much as breath near the PC, the cable or the phone you get a brief interruption to the connection and everything fails.
Sounds like this may not be your problem, though. You could try uninstalling and re-installing the cable drivers on your PC, but I don't hold out much hope.
I think I would go for using Bluetooth (slow, though) or a card reader (fast, if you have one but no good for synching contacts etc).

In this case I would simply disable the delete option in the Image Store Settings and delete the pictures using File Manager on the phone - if you use Mark All and delete it's fast to do.

  • N80 problems after last FW update

    I have the following phone:
    Type:RM-92 (N80-1)
    Code:0527480
    FW version:V 4.0707.0.7 (28-03-2007)
After upgrading to this firmware, I was faced with two rather irritating problems.
    1) I've made a backup of the phone. After upgrading the FW, I restored the backup. Now, when I power up the phone, it says "Installing" after it boots up. Then, after a couple of seconds it says "Untrusted software found on memory card, install manually blah-blah". I installed all but one of these "untrusted" files, but I cannot remove from the list one which I no longer need. Application manager is set to allow all aplications and never check certificates online. Question is how to remove this sis file which I no longer need and which is, probably, causing this to happen.
And a mental note to Nokia, if they ever bother to read this - don't try to make the phone smarter than it should be - if I say I want to allow installation of all software, do not bother me with "untrusted" stuff.
    2) a bigger problem is that service commands do not work. Tried entering them on the standby screen and from messaging/options, same thing happens. The phone says it's "requesting" the wanted data, but no reply from my service operator appears on the screen. It's not a probem with the operator, as other phones work correctly

  • N80 problems

    Hi everyone
Im new to this place so sorry if you have already been asked about this.
I have a new Nokia N80 on orange running firmware version: V 3.0614.0.3 and I have a few problems with it. A firmware update may work but just wanted to confirm it will!?
The problems I have found are
My background/wallpaper picture always disappears after I restart the phone
The memory card sometimes goes missing and the only way to get it back is to restart the phone
A message saying “phone out of memory try close some applications and try again” comes up sometimes when I try to play a video or zoom in over 50% on pictures. I have moved all pictures and videos to my 128mb memory card and it still displays message. Only way to solve it is to restart the phone and then it works for a bit.
The phone has become stuck on loudspeaker and the only way I could stop it is to restart the phone. This has only happened once but was very annoying.
As I say im sure a firmware update would solve the problems but just wanted to make sure. Also if anyone could tell me where to find a Nokia service centre near Leeds I would appreciate it.
    Thanks
    Martin

I too have the video playback fault, is annoying when you have to reboot your phone when there is nothing actaully running in the background. My web browser also freezing sometimes and needs locks the whole phone up.

Played... The conclusion is - hardware problem. Tapping with finger in area of speaker helps.

  • Wlan on N80 problems!

Hi! I have noticed some problems with the N80s Wlan capabilities! Sometimes i have no problem what so ever to connect to a Wlan, i just choose the connectionpoint from the list connecting to a webpage and it connects. However, several times now it wont connect. I choose the connection point and it tryes to connect, but after a few seconds i receive a error message where it says something like; the wlan could not be found! This happens both when there is a WEP encryption (and i have the key) and also where there is no encryption. I have tried this on atleast 10 different W-lan networks, the only one that worked was my neighbours, until he put on WEP encryption
The other networks have been in town in different malls and cafe´s and so on and have all been free networks to use. So my question is, is there any easy way to configure the phone to be receptive to most Wlans or do i as a connecting user have to set up each connection point manually, even if i dont know what the settings should be? I could include that i have called nokia about this, and not very surpricingly they told me that they can only inform me about the basic phone settings, everything else such as connecting to a Wlan, have to be done by my self, gahh!
    Cheers all!

Just out of curiosity, remove the security from your router and see if the N80 sees it.

Your N80, has probably been "grey imported", and was not meant for the Chinese Market! :-(
Nokia Software Updater looks for the production-code of your N80, and installs/updates the firmware accordingly!
