N80 problems with 02 sim

When my N80 has an 02 pay-as-you-go sim card in, I get a "General: System Error" every time I try to read an SMS message. This effectively hangs the phone and I have to remove the battery to stop the beeping and carry on the error causes.
If I put in my Telstra sim card, then there is no problem (even with the same messages).
I used the Nokia Software updater to confirm that the firmware was current (it is) but tried reinstalling it all anyway, which made no difference.
Any clues as to what I can do to correct this problem? My N80 was purchased in Singapore, and is not under contract to any UK service provider.

Is it something to do with the sim having to be registered for the 3g network? I'm sure somebody had the same problem when they first got an N80 as the sim supplied was not 3G

    Sounds like your iPhone is locked to AT&T. Contact them to see

    when i open it and type the pin code after 10 seconds restart
    it does it every time when i do it
    i dont want to lose my contacts
    what can i do ?

  • Nokia n80 problem with bluetooth

    hello all
    i have an n80 which i have given to my mother.
    there seems to be a problem with bluetooth. i can connect it to my laptop by bluetooth and use the connection to browse the phone and transfer files but for some reason when i try to sync with outlook the connection always fails, all the time, no matter what.
    can anyone think of any reason for this?
    i have tried looking for firmware updates as i havent used the handset for 18mths but i cant find the pc cable so it wont identify the phone when i run a search.
    any suggestions (apart from find the cable!) will be appreciated

    Not being technically qualified enough on specifications of Bluetooth 3 all I can say is that Bluetooth SDP = Service Discovery Protocol seems to be absent fron N8, whereas it is present on say 5800XM and N97 Mini which appear to behave faultlessly with Toyota Bluetooth unit if this sheds any light.

    I have inserted a SIM Into my tablet Z. (mobile broadband) It finds the card and the operator (Telia), but when I disable Wifi and enable mobile data there is no Internet connection. Is there some setting I must do in the tablet, or is it more likely something wrong with the SIM?

    I also have this problem with my Xperia Z tablet 321.  My network operator (Ovivo) appears in settings>mobile Network Settings>network operators but in Xperia>internet settings>Select operator, it does not
    I chose the network that carries Ovivo (Vodaphone, I believe) and the Xperia downloaded the internet and MMS settings.  I restarted the tablet but Firefox and Chrome both continue to say I am not connected or am Offline.
    I'm not convinced this is a settings problem as the tablet shows 3-4 bars mobile signal - it may be due to the network operator?

    Only the operator to which the iPhone is locked can unlock it - nobody else (including Apple). M-Tel do offer iPhone unlocking. You will have to contact them again. http://www.mtel.bg/
    If you were sold the phone as "unlocked / SIM-free" but actually were given a "locked" handset, you will need to return it to the retailer you purchased from.

    iPhones bought in the USA are usually locked to the carrier and can't be unlocked. so, if you are using another SIM than the original one, your phone will be locked again to this original carrier after the update.

    Did you already try these steps?
    Restart the iPhone.
    Try another means of reaching the activation server and attempt to activate.
    Try connecting to a known-good Wi-Fi network if you're unable to activate using a cellular data connection.
    Try connecting to iTunes if you're unable to activate using Wi-Fi.
    Restore the iPhone.

    Hi...I have just obtained a secondhand iphone 5.  I'm not technically minded  and I don't understand 'geek speak' so please be gentle.  I have done all I can think of to bottom this problem. I have switched on and off.  Tried different o2 sims (including 2 brand new) that I know are fine, restored to factory settings, changed carrier from 'Auto' to O2 and spent ages on line with o2 chat but everything at their end is absolutely fine. Everything on the phone seems to be working apart from the phone aspect of things. All incoming calls go straight to voicemail and show on the phone as 'Cancelled calls' and when dialling out,  I can key in the numbers and get the keypad tone (not dialling tone) but as soon as I press the green key to make the call, all that happens is the keypad pops back up onto the screen. The phone was bought on ebay as an o2 phone (the photo showed Giffgaff on the phone's screen but I understand this to be one and the same?) and as being 6 months old but I have put the serial number into the support website and...surprise surprise..,it must be at least twice that age as the warranty has expired.  I have made 2 attempts to have a web chat with Apple Support,  have reached the 'You're all set, we'll be with you in 2 mins'  and have been left hanging there for over an hour on each occasion,  so I've given that up as a bad job!!  Any help will be much appreciated...and also, will Apple charge me £25 for each of the aborted chat attempts, please?  Over to you...hopefully and many thanks in anticipation.

    This is entirely a carrier issue.  If your carrier (airtel) doesn't provide service outside of Mumbia, this has nothing to do with your iPhone.

    i bought a iphone 5 should have been unlocked to accept any sim in any country. the Cyprus sim i put in allowed me to open it after inserting my pass key and it shows a signal. then it comes up with this message and wont let me go any further..  "only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate the iphone. pleaee insert the SIM card that came with you your iphone or visit a store to receive i replacemrnt SIM card". the phone didn't come with a SIM so what would the problem be? it seems like it may be still locked to a service provider......

    Try taking the sim card out and re-inserting it and seeing if this helps or try and get hold of another sim card.
    If any of these don't work then your only other option is to take the phone back to where you purchased it and check if it is truly unlocked or not. 
    Noone here can help you with that unless you go back to the place where you bought the phone in the first place.

    I bought my iphone in the U.S. from at&t. Now I am traveling in france. Yesterday I tried to upgrade the iphone to the new ios 6 version and in the end the phone asked me to insert the compatible sim card that came with the phone. I have been using a gevey iphone unlock card with my french sim card so i have never tried to jailbreak my iphone. So I tried to jailbreak the phone so my foreign sim card can activate it, but it just did not work out. Now I am trying to have my original at&t sim card sent to me. I want to know if it will still work to insert my old at&t card to activate my iphone after failing to jailbreak the phone. In addition, because I am traveling abroad, I suspended my at&t service for now, will that affect its ability to activate the phone?
    I would really appreciate if anyone can give me a response to my length problem. Thank you so much.

    I bought an IPhone4 from an apple store in london and have been using it for a month now with no problems. I`m on holiday now in Malaysia and cant seem to get connected. It keeps saying No Sim and says the same on the settings function. It shouldnt be locked, as bought from an apple store. what can be the problem then? any help would be deeply appreciated.

    Many other SIM cards/operators?  Presumably this is an unlocked LTE playbook.
    If not provided with the playbook under a contract, is the SIM card suitable for use in a Playbook?  
    The "cannot resolve" problem can be browsr cache needing to be ceared but often means you are not getting to a good DNS server, and maybe not even a good internet connection. 

  • N80 Problems - with Hearing

    I was using N80 from past 12 months and yesterday when i was on a call suddenly it stoped me from hearing the voice of the caller.
    I tried to call him but the same i cant hear anything... but they are able to hear me.
    And i dont know what is the problem, i am not ablet o heare anything unless i activate "Speaker Mode" when i receive a call.
    Can some one help me out on this, thank you.

    Played... The conclusion is - hardware problem. Tapping with finger in area of speaker helps.
    Have a suggestion that this could be caused by bad contact between speaker and board. Any ideas?

    I just bought nokia n97 unlock and  when i put sim card in it work as normal, but one problem is it show the massage indecator that <SIM memmory full> and the envolop sign still in there all the time. i just wonder is there any ways to elimenat the massage indecator on my phone.? is this cuase from SIM card or phone?  can anyone give me some advice on this issue. also i try everything but  it doesnt work. please help .. thanks you

    do you have another sim card you can try in the phone or another phone you can try the sim in ? If so you can find where the fault lies and either replace the sim or have the phone repaired ? If you have no contacts or sim messages on the sim it may be faulty !

    Hello, earlier today my phone had a message saying Sim Card not present, or something similar to it. Later that day, I looked again at my phone and it told me to connect my phone to itunes and restore it because it wasn't able to get service. I did so, and now I keep getting error 1002 after it does the recovery process. Is there an easy solution to this problem?
