N80 syncronisation problem

i have just installed the latest pc suite verion 6.85.14.1, and i was trying to syncronise the calender enteries from outlook to my phone.
But when i click on synchronize option, the "synchronize now" option is not highlighted. So i am unable to transfer calender entries to my N80.
Any help will be appreciated.
ps- The drivers are installed and all other application within pc suite are working fine.

  • N80 Gallery 'problems'

    Hi!
I have been a 6280 user and have just upgraded to the N80, i have a couple of minor problems and irritations which may be simple to solve but i can't find them.
In the gallery there is the option to look at pictures and videos but i would prefer to look at one or the other and not both at the same time. I would also preferrably like to only browse a folder at a time not all 300 or so pictures.
Finally, is it possible to view the pictures with the phone in 'portrait' mode rather than 'landscape' as they would then be bigger on the screen.
    Many thanks,
    Engelkott

The Gallery can be used to limit what's shown only by using the Albums feature of the Gallery app (which just alternate views to subsets of the full content).
Unfortunately, not a very practical feature in my opinion. I'd prefer to be able to organize them content to different directories (folders), instead, but the Gallery app designers have taken a differeny route. Maybe they'll come to their senses some day and it gets changed back.

  • Nokia N80 startup problem

hello everyone. i have recently bought a nokia n80. i have been uploading new themes on my cellphone and one of the themes messed up the screen. so i turned off and on my cellphone and this message pops up. it says "Phone start-up failed. Contact the retailer." can someone please help me fix this problem. i just had my cellphone for least then 1 month. i do appreciate if someone can help me solve this problem.
    thank you.

You will need to take this to a Nokia Care Point.
Once your phone is giving the message "contact the retailer" its a fatal error.
You have already lost all phone contents not saved to sim and MMC.
You can find your nearest NCP to you at the Store Locator
Also from the IMEI you gave, your handset holds no warranty in the EU.
It was a handset which was produced in Nigeria.
You will only be able to get that fixed there.

  • N80 sound problem.

Hi, my N80 is about 15 months old and been working fine till now.
When i make or receive a call, i don't hear anything. I have to put it on speaker or use headset to do that.
(i think it may be hardware issue)
I am not to sure what the problem is, and i will greatly appreciate if you can help me sort it out.

Yes, I think w have more or less isolated the problems to the ribbon cable between the slides. If it is then it will get worse as the cable continues to wear each time you slide, so it will just be a matter fo time before it goes completely. That cable also connects your display so that may experience problems as well.
Cable problems are unfortunately quite common with the N80. You will have to check cost of replacing it with your local Nokia Care Centre. I don't think it is very expensive. It is only a cable after all.

  • N80 button problem

Does anyone experience this problem in N80? I just got the N80 month ago and everything go fine. Until fews days ago, I just notice that sometime there are some of the buttons in the front peice is not work.
I wonder if these is effect from upgrading miniSD card to 1GB, so I swap to use the 128MB that come with the phone. But the problem still persist.
It should not the physical problem of the button itself, because some happen on the up button, down button, C (backspace) button, and some other button on the front piece and happen to 2-3 buttons in the same time. This's very annoy me especially when I want to type a mesage or modify phone book item.
Any recommend would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Noom..

you can do the soft reset *#7780# or the hard reset *#7370#
Soft will only delete the things not needed, like the Cache I believe but the hard reset will make the phone like it was just out of the box. Always backup to the memory card if you are able to and always double this by using the PCSuite.Message Edited by taffytafftaf on 23-Oct-2006

  • N80 display problem

    Hi all,
I own a nokia n80 firmware version V 4.0623.0.42, which should be the latest update.
My problem is that when I open or close the slide, the display goes corrupted and after remains white. To come again back to normal, I have to open or close again and after a while it comes ok. I tried to reset and as well updated software but to no success.
I opened as well the mobile and noticed that on the back of the slide there are 2 pairs of contacts. 2 in line and 2 vertical.
Does anybody knows for what these contacts are ? Can they be the cause of my problem somehow ?
    Regards

I tought that maybe those pins reset the display. Since they work on the far limits when I open or close the slide.
Problem is how they work in sense of voltages
So what do you think that's wrong ?
Ok if those are the pins i am thinking of my theory is that because of the static or whatever they are what recieve the radio waves to make recieve calls texts radio internet 3g and all that. If there are other pins that aren't these i am not sure.

  • N80 issue / problem

Sure the N80 is a great phone. I don’t mean to talk down the N80 or Nokia for that matter.
I paid $1011 aus for my N80 and the sms screen don’t even fit
(The first 2 letters are missing from the left side of the phone for each word)
I'm feeling a bit ripped off here.
I am going to get a replacement handset tomorrow because the service center said this is the best idea, but I think it’s more a firmware problem not a handset problem.
Also the gallery is great but if only there was a way to organize it into folders and not just show every images on the phone.
So what i’m trying to say is I buy a expensive phone that can’t read / write sms and I can’t organize / hide my images from the gallery.
Does any one know what the rumored firmware V4.XXXX will fix / do for the N80 and when I will be released?
Like I said i'm not bagging the N80 or Nokia I just want to fix a few problems that many people seam to have.

    Hi,
I have had this problem for the past 4 months with my N80, mine is the UK black generic N80 (Bought sim free), and I am also using O2, this problem was semi regular until recently when I just couldn't recieve or send messages at all.
Today I updated my firmware via the updater for the first time since purchase, from the first release to: V4.0623.0.42 and recieved a whole mountain of text messages, since then I have had no problems but of course it is early days yet.

  • N80 SMS problem/restarting (!?)

    hi.
I have a few problems, i don't know if they are linked.
I'll start with a background story. I had UltraIMpro, and F-secure anti-virus (both trial versions) on my N80, both had run out of subscriptions. I noticed that my phone had started to restart tself a lot, sometimes about 3 or 4 times a day, i knew it was doing this because that F-secure screen always appeared after it had restarted, asking me if i wanted to do a scan, as usual! I always just exited the program, and have scanned for viruses, there arent any!
Anyway, this Restartign thing got annoying, and then another thing introduced itself! I was with some friends, and both of them said they had texted me earlier, but i hadn't received them. The next day, i turned my phone off, and when i turned it pon again, i got the 2 text messages. These messages did not appear when the phone restarted itslef, but only when i turned it off myself. This happened once more, after which i got **bleep** off and decided that maybe i should back-up my data on my 1GB card and hard-reset the phone, maybe this would solve the problem i thought.
So, one night, i tried to do this, and i got the error message "Memory card full : close some applications and try again" now, i have 540mb free on this card, and no applications running on the phone. Even right now, it wont let me make a backup, Could anyone explain this??
So, having failed that, i wondered if these extra applications were annoying my phone, so i uninstall the useless ones, F-secure and UltraIMpro, and surely enough, i go and run a few tests, and the SMS's seem to be arriving fine and imemdiately. Is that logical at all? Is there a phoesable explanation for this?
I can't tell if that has fixed the restarting problem, as i uninstalled F-secure, which was the only thing telling me that it was restarting, but i haven't seen it restarting yet, so i also hope that problem has blown over.
So, basically, i was just looking to see if anyone could help me with this memory backup problem, and if someone could explain all of this gaffuffle!
    Thanks!
my phones in order of appearance : (starting 3 years ago!) Sony CMD-Z1 plus, Motorola timeport, Nokia 3310, Nokia 3410, Sony Ericsson T300, Sharp GX10i, Sharp GX30i, Sagem My-X-2, Sony Ericsson V800, Sony Ericsson P900, Samsung D500, Sharp 902, Nokia N80 (got mugged by 4 20 year olds). Motorola V3, Sony Ericsson K610i, Samsung D800, LG Chocolate, Nokia N70!
I change phones a lot, have had 11 different handsets in 2006!!

    ok lets start:
restarts.....delete all apps on the phone including themes etc.(use pc suite to save what you need on your pc)i believe this prob stems from the f secure trying to still read your system and cant cause its a trial so its not completing the operation and basically hindering the other apps
text messages- n80 has a lag in sending text some prior users have complained that it freezes for 40secs when they sent text messages.....please dont worry about this its a firmware problem/bug which if you go to a nokia service centre it can be upgraded to the latest firmware in the uk...be patient as well as nokia has also introduced over the air and downloadable firmware upgrades....unfortunately the n80 is not yet available....so its nsc or wait until it is(it is very easy to do this as ive upgraded one of my older models which is available.....click on home on the top of this page and at the bottom left there should be some info on this)
memory card- i have found that certain cards do not work well with mobile phones i suggest sandisk which sem to work well with mobile phones.....that memory problem seems to have been a bug to others i didnt have this prob(2gb sandisk memory card) so i guess this is dependant on the actual handset some give this prob others dont.....firmware upgrade is expected to change this hopefully.....
lastly as said in the first answer save your stuff to your pc and then you can master reset your phone this helps as well (press *#7370# on the active standby screen) but remember all data will be lost including contacts so save everything!!!!!

  • N80 MP3 problem

My wife's just got her new N80 and it seems to have some issues playing MP3s. There's quite a few i've just transferred straight from my SE K750 to the N80 that upon trying to play them the phone just says "Unable to play media clip". They're just standard MP3's nothing special, some work some dont. I've googled the problem and it seems many people with N70's had th e issue but unfortunately nobody ever replied with a fix.
Any ideas? They all work no bother on both my SE K750 & her old SE S700.
We've tried transferring using the USB cable & via Bluetooth just to rule out corruption but its the same files that dont work every time.
    Thanks

from what u stated it seems that:
    1. u at one point removed your memory card which means that u must personalize again
2.you moved the song from the folder it was in originally again youll need to personalize
thats the two easy solutions the hard solution:
your phone may have a firmware problem given the version that you have....and youll need to take it to a nokia service centre to upgrade.....
lastly, before doing that what you can do is delete the song completely and then put it back on using nokia pc suite into your selected folder....try these solutions and let me know what happens

Thanks a lot pfloding for your input. It seems though to be a different problem - your phone suddenly drops quality of 3G and WLAN communications. I would definitely have contacted Nokia or whoever sold you this baby ‘cause from what you describe it looks faulty to me.
I don't think it is a hardware problem, as battery life, 3G reception and WLAN suddenly works much better. My guess is that something in the WLAN implementation causes the phone to go into some kind of fruitless loop, wasting battery and interfering with 3G. I have turned of the WLAN setting "Show availability" now (WLAN works fine anyway), and so far things seem better!

  • N80 led problem

    Hi
The blue led on my N80 stays on all the time.It does not flash anymore, just stays on.
Could anyone help with this please
    Thx

    Hi Malloc,
I supposed you meant that the LED stays on, the moment your N80 powers up.
Do you want to try and format your N80? This will wipe out your data and applications on your N80 though. Thus, you will want to back up and/or sync your N80. You may want to prepare the installation files for your added applications. To format you can either:
    - Enter the follow: *#7370#
    or
    - Power off your N80, hold down keys "3", "*" and "Green", and while still holding those 3 keys, power up your N80. (You may need an additional pair of hands. ^_^
(Note: The 2nd method is more powerful than the former.)
In case you did a back up and will be restoring it, do check if the problem is solved before the restoration. And if the problem comes back after the restoration.
Let us know your decision and outcome. Good luck and God Speed.
    Cheers.

  • N80 Major Problem

When I started my N80 yesterday the keypad changed from letters en numbers to some weird symbollanguage.(1=!, 2=", 3=£,...)
This means that I can't enter no numbers so I can't use my simcard because I need to enter my PIN-code!
I can't make no phone calls or send any messages.
All the other things are working fine.
    EDIT: I can't do a hard reset because I can't enter the code *#7370#...
The 3 key combination also doesn't work, when I do it I give a completely useless phone, the keypad doesn't work at all)
    I didn't upgrade the firmware
But when I read here about the new version I thinks it's beter
    to do no upgrade.
    Can someone help me?
I need some help very soon because I need my phone!!!
