N80 TV out cable compatiblity via Firmware update!

yea like N93,N93i,N95& now new nokia devices like Nokia 6500 slide, all got tv out cable connectivity,so you can see your pics &,surf the web on a tv screen etc.
I just want to ask the Nokia Software updater Team that Is this possible that we might get the Tv out cable connectivity with the upcoming N80 firmware?
I think N80 can be connected to tv via Nokia AD-15 plug, just need the required components in the upcoming firmware.thanks

Because the phone lacks the required electronics to generate a TV signal.
If you want a phone that supports a TV-out signal, switch to an N93, N93i or N95; at least those do.

After installing an SSD into my optical bay, I've found out I need EFI Firmware Update 2.2. I can only find 2.3 which is not supported on my Mac. What can I do?

You do not want EFI 2.2, it bricked many 2011 MacBook Pro machines.
EFI 2.3 is the fix. Software Update should install it if you need it, but it goes to the boot drive as that's where the hidden EFI resides.
Check out this link of machines and their EFI versions
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1237
Also if your SSD should be in the hard drive bay as it makes a better boot/applicaitions drive, not a good storage drive as it wears out with repeated use and is not "scrubbable" like a regular hard drive
The hard drive should be in the optical bay and used as a storage drive, you have things all messed up inside your machine, Apple doesn't support or expect the optical drive to be used as such to begin with, then as a boot drive is just asking for trouble. So use the optical bay as storage and not as a boot bay.
Also you can't install OS X or Windows or use a Firmware restore disk because it only works from a internal optical drive, which you have removed.
    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT2213
You need to learn all about cloning etc., as you have no other means to boot the machine.

i had a 6630 phone. and as i can see it can be updated by downloading the latest firmware. i had done all the instruction on dowloads and so on. i also manage to install it on my pc. i also setup the phone and the pc only to find out that the program (firmware update) is causing my pc to hang. please help me what to do.

What, exactly, makes you think the update wasn't installed properly?
I suspect it either worked (and your phone is operational), or it failed, and you wouldn't even be able to turn it on at all.
You could try reformatting the memory card and the phone, to see if it makes a difference:

  • 5530 firmware update found but not compatible?

    Hi,
the phone is a french 5530 (no fimlock, no netlock, a free phone), a firmware update is found from nokia, i can download it from the phone. Then it restarts the phone, and a white screen appears with the update bar. But then it just restarts and on the home screen the message appears that it is not compatible with my network provider? I really want to update... but how?

I'm having exactly the same problem. I even tried downloading via laptop, but it wont complete the installation.
I am so sick of my phone freezing or switching itself off I have just rang my contract supplier and they are going to arrange to get a new phone sent out. I did ask if I could have a different make of phone as I don't have much confidence in this one, but they will only exchange for the same.
Let's hope a new phone solves the issues!

  • Firmware update - Cable Telstra Gateway Max - Netgear C6300

Firmware update - Cable Telstra Gateway Max - Netgear C6300
Good news. Over the next couple of weeks we will be rolling out an update to our Telstra Gateway Max. The firmware updates will roll out in the early morning and this process is expected to finish by mid May  for all devices.
    The current firmware: Version 1.01.06
    The upgraded firmware: Version 1.04.02
    UPDATE 10/06/2015
I have confirmed that the roll out was halted so that additional fixes can be included.  Those who already received the most recent update will also receive the next update.
This should resume over the next few weeks.
    What you need to do
Nothing. The new firmware will be remotely upgraded on active Cable Broadband services that have this gateway connected. The upgrade will occur during the early morning so as to minimise disruption to the customer. The gateway should automatically go through the process of upgrading and come back online when finished. All settings will be retained.
If you experience any issues with the gateway not coming back online, restarting the gateway should resolve in most instances.
Customers who connect a new modem after the roll out has been completed, can expect their modem to be automatically updated within 48 hours of registration.
    What’s better
The majority of the updates are improvements the previous firmware version. These include:
    • Flexibility in supporting larger external media storage devices such as external hard drives and USB sticks
    • Greater stability in the Wi-Fi
    • Improvements to VPN tunnelling functionality in the gateway
    • Media streaming improvements
    • General gateway Control Panel (GUI) look and feel improvements
    What’s new
    1. Wi-Fi Mesh, is a new feature that is developed to work in conjunction with supported Telstra Wi-Fi range extenders. It allows for a single wireless network name to be shared by all devices and automatic connection to a stronger Wi-Fi signal source within your home.
The Telstra Wi-Fi Extender Max is expected to be launched in late May.
    2. “Time of Day Parental Controls” feature, giving customers the ability to put rules on individual devices connected to their gateway, based on time. This complements the already existing “Keyword Filtering Parental Controls” feature that was already available, giving customers greater control over the viewing habits of users.
Customers can access this new feature by logging into the gateways’ Control Panel via the Basic or Advanced menu. To do this:
    i. Type in http://telstra.gateway/ in a web browser on a device that is connected to the gateway (either via    Wi-Fi or Ethernet cable)
    ii. Begin Parental control feature
         a. via the Basic Menu by clicking “PARENTAL CONTROL” along the top menu and select the “Time of          Day Access” tab
         b. via the Advanced Menu by clicking “ADVANCED VIEW” along the top menu and select the “Time of          Day Access” along the left hand side menu
    iii. Click on “Add Rule”
iv. Setup a rule that applies to the customers’ needs and click “Apply” to Save.
Rules can be applied for each individual device or by network type i.e. Ethernet or Wi-Fi.

  • Firmware update N80 with Vodafone

Well finally last night I got to upgrade my N80 to 4.0623.0.41 of the firmwear. I was so happy...........
..until I started to use my phone, pronlems and lots of em.
Themes that I have used before on my N80 and have functioned/looked as they should. Now in idle mode, have a hole in them, through to some theme I dont even have. (The area looks similar to where a picture would go if you choose one in edit theme)
I can't pair with my Mac now, this used to be one of my most reliable bluetooth connections, even though I read elsewhere people were having problems with this.
Also, until I did a firmware keypad restart, it wouldn't open themes. Well it would, but it would crash and kick me out straight away. This is fixes now.
I cold take pictures and they would not show in gallery. But there where on phone as I could explore to them.
But what a joke, I really am slowly loseing faith in Nokia, looks like I'm joining quite a few people. I thought I would never get any other phone apart from nokiaMessage Edited by stevieh590 on 14-Nov-2006

Sincerely, you think it might work cos you read somewhere it is supposed to work or it might work cos you've seen it working or at least somebody actually told you it worked?
I'm having the same problem and I've read through ALL this forum and NOWHERE I've read no whatsoever working way to solve this issue. And the fact that this is entirely Creative fault never cease to amaze me. We updated the exact way the instructions ordered and the updater killed the player.
Now I believe that there is a part of the problem that the admins still don't fully grasp, and that's the fact the the updater, any firmware updater, once the issue manifests, DO NOT see the player connected anymore. Although it is in reality connected accordin to Windows and the typical symbol of successful connection on the player. Connection that it is not useful for the updater NEVER see it anymore and the player won't go out of Recovery Mode because of the simple life fact that THERE IS NO FIRMWARE IN THE PLAYER, hence even battery recharging it is going to be an issue.
Still can't believe why they keep that updater online.

    1. i wish i can remove the 2 shortcuts (horisantal ) wich is : 1.wireless scanning + 2. calender , if there exisit some option to display/remove display of them
    2. if there is a way to remove the themes painlessly
    3. i want my special files pics/videos etc not to be displayed in the gallary that contain all multimedia files ( even though what i put in a seperate folder ) if i can check what folders only to be displayed in galary

  • How do those who don't watch boards find out about firmware updates?

Since 'Software Update' doesn't alert users to firmware updates, I wonder how those that don't monitor these boards and other 'Mac news' sites find out about firmware updates?
Yes, Boot Camp made headline news in many major newspapers and those who wanted to install it found they needed to update the firmware first.
But, had I not read about it elsewhere earlier, I would not have known about the second MBP firmware update (which, apparently, solves some of the 'whine' issues - I've had no whining but I like to keep my firmware, in particular, up to date!).
Just as a note to Apple - you've a database of all who have registered their MPB's (at least those with AppleCare if not those who simply run set-up with new Mac purchases). If firmware updates aren't included in the 'Software Updates' procedure, shooting off an email to those with machines that might be in need of firmware updates may save a world of grief to overworked phone support techs.

Yes, I'm familiar with the support page but my point is that not all (in act, likely very few) are familiar enough with that page to go to "Top Downloads" to find firmware updates.
On page 25 of the MacBook Pro Users Guide, Apple DOES suggest, in the next to the last paragraph, suggest "For support information, user discussion boards, and the latest Apple software downloads, go to www.apple.com/support."
But if a new user is having problems he or she is more likely than not to pick up the phone first - and although there's the 90-day phone support and 3 year phone support for those who purchase AppleCare (which new users may not - particularly if buying from, say, CompUSA or other stores who push 'extended warranties' even with the purchase of products whose manufacturers already provide LIFETIME warranties) Apple has thoughtfully provided automated Software Updates (which Windows switchers understand all too well!) but no automated way to be lead to firmware updates. It's my feeling that if firmware notification were included in SU notifications, or via email, it might reduce the number of phone calls and result in happier computers.
While I enjoy reading all the Mac news on a daily basis, a lot of users don't and there may be an even greater number who don't know the wheat from the chaff (or even know where to find the wheat!).
Some firmware updates are critical, some of minor importance, and some (more and more of late, it seems) just a bit cryptic (for instance, 1.01 says "This firmware update is for (MacBook Pro)/iMac (early 2006) computers with Intel processors only. It now runs on localized systems that use languages that read right to left." and then lists the languages supported - which do not include Hebrew or Arabic, two "languages that read right to left".
The only reason that I brought this up is that there are a number of sites that reported that the firmware update alleviates some of the 'whine' that some MBP users are reporting (and now I am reading of 'hum' issues - forget GarageBand! An hundred MBP's could replace a symphony!). Now is that true or not? Apple doesn't say - some users report yes, some no. And as there are no whine or hum issues on the iMac, I doubt 1.01 would 'solve' any of those problems with that machine (and interesting, too, that the "iMac (early 2006) Firmware Update 1.0.1" isn't in the "Top Downloads" section as is "MacBook Pro (early 2006) Firmware Update 1.0.1": what's up with that? Are there really more MBPs out there than Intel iMacs? Or are MBP owners running Windows in Arabic more than Intel iMac owners? Or just hopeful that the update does, indeed, help with the whine problem.
I keep getting off topic (sort of)...
...my point is that it would be simple to notify, and simpler for (in my opinion), Apple to notify customers of firmware updates.

  • Does zeroing out another Macs HD through TDM remove a Firmware Update?

    Hello,
If I zero out the Physical Volume on an iBook G3 which had a Panther installation, while it's connected to my Intel iMac running 10.4.10 & using Target Disc Mode and Disc Utility, what happens to the Firmware Update 4 .1.7?
I need to know if that Firmware Update needs to be applied again from OS 9.2.2 prior to upgrading to Panther again OR can I just install Panther on the iBook again as I'd already applied the Firmware Update?
Does zeroing destroy the Firmware Update? Can I use Disc Utility on an Intel Mac to zero an iBook G3 or do I need to use a PPC and Target Disc Mode?
I'm thinking of installing Panther again on the iBook using TDM and a PPC iMac but am concerned about whether the Firmware Update will still be intact.
    Message was edited by: Spawn_Dl3y

That's the answer I was hoping for as I don't want to re-install Panther on the G3 again and have serious probs with not having the Firmware Update present ....
Can I install OS 9 instead of Panther on the HD without any conflicts ocurring seeing that the Firmware has been updated? Is the Firmware backwards compatible with OS 9?
Thanks for your posts Niel and Johnodd4

  • Xperia Z2 Firmware Update via PC Companion = FAIL!

I appologize if this is a duplicate post.  I searched the forum before posting but it seemed similar posts weren't exactly the same issue(s) I'm experiencing.
I'm getting the notification that there is a firmware update for my Xperia Z2 tablet but that I am required to use PC Companion to download/install it.  However, for some reason PC Companion refuses to detect that my tablet is connected.  I've tried multiple usb ports and two different computers.  Under device manager it doesn't show any device driver issues and the usb drivers are installed and up-to-date.  However I constantly run into error message after error message.  The tablet is set to MTP mode and connected via the included Sony usb cable.  I've followed every wizard, prompt, guide, etc. but in the end PC Companion still says there's no phone/tablet connected.   Would be so much easier if it would just download the update to the tablet like EVERY other android device I own does.

  • 27 inch thunderbolt display blacks out after Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2

Bought 2 new 27 inch TB displays for two different machines and after a couple of days the Thunderbolt Firmware Update 1.2 appears on my Mac Pro with one of the displays installed. So I install the firmware update.  Now my display blacks out periodically and I keep getting Graphic Display Errors with a request to sent the errors to Apple. Running a 32 GB Mac Pro (late 2013 circular style) I have three monitors connected (two 20 inch cinema displays and the new 27 inch display). This machine is supposed to be able to handle three 4k monitors or 6 standard TB displays.  I've seen the posts about the blacking out with this monitor but I didn't have any problems before the firmware update and now I've got them pretty regularly.  I had the blacking out problem on an earlier monitor and took one of the monitors back and Apple gave me another one and this is the replacement.  Same problem, but this one only started after the update. I'm hoping someone from Apple reads these messages and can let me know what's up.
BTW, I also have an older 27 inch Apple monitor that ran perfectly on this machine so I'm disappointed that I spent all this money and now get the blacking out issue.
    Mac Pro (Late 2013)
    Processor 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5
    Memory 32 BG
Graphics AMD FirePro D300 2048 MB

I have my Thunderbolt display connected to my MacBook Pro and have been experiencing the same issue, getting worse over time.  The folks at my local Apple store did not know what to do about it.  So, I looked around and tried different thing.
The one thing that seems to be working is to System Preferences > Build-in Display > uncheck “Automatically adjust brightness.”
    I hope this helps.

The only thing I can identify as an issue is that your Windows Firewall is running and iTunes is not enabled in it, so this may be the source of your issue. Here is an article for you that will help you rectify this situation:
