N80 UPnP

Hi, i have a N80 and a wireless network connection connecting my laptop to the internet. I just set up my phone to connect to my laptop. I can see the files on my laptop but when i select one on the N80 it just says waiting for device. Is this normal?
I am using Windows Media Connect and a Netgear router.
Thanks for any help

Update: I have just connected my XBOX 360 to the whole wireless thing and im starting to get confused! Once i go to the Home Network option in the Gallery I see "FRANCIS: 1: Windows Media Connect" I select it then brows to a music file which i then select. This is the bit that confuses me, a pop up appears saying "Select Device" and the only choice is my Xbox 360. I thought that it was supposed to find the files on my laptop (as it did before i connected the xbox). Anyway im still having no luck on streaming the selected music file to the phone so if there is anyone out there that could shed any bit of light then i really appreciate it.
Thanks

  • N80 restarts when try to use uPnP

I have a N80 Internet Edition with firmware 5.0719.0.2 and I installed the Home Media Server application from the CD.
I use windows XP SP2 Professional and a Comtrend CT-536+ router.
But when I try to enter in home network in the Gallery, the phone restarts in 3-4 seconds, I think that when it detects the PC.
Also I have updated the Home Media Server over internet.
    What I can do?
    Thanks

Problem is related with phone I think.
Can perform a soft reset or hard reset.

  • N80 WiFi Upnp connection trouble

    Hi,
Have setup N80 for WiFi and can use the internet through my linksys router. The problem is when I select gallery> home network> the waiting for devices just sits there. The PC's on the network cannot see the phone either any thoughts?
    Cheers

No, I don't think it works like that I'm afraid. If you go to www.simplecenter.com you can download the media server software and when it's all up and running you can copy pics/music from/to your phone to/from the PC, view pics in the Phone Gallery on your PC, play music on your phone through your PC etc.
    Hope this helps.

  • N80 home network and WWW

I have recently purchased an n80 and I am trying to get the home networking and internet functional through my wirless router. So far I have had little success. I have enabled upnp on my d-link router/modem . I have installed The simple center software on my laptop and uploaded files to share. I have setup an access point on my n80 and I have enabled sharing. The shared folders on the n80 have also been selected to share all files. The simple center software has been allowed to operate through xp's firewall. THe only thing I am not sure about is the port forwarding on the router. I have a trigger port and a public port in the applications gateway section of my router . I have entered the ports listed in the simple centers setting section (1900,49153,49154,49152). I have these numbers in both the trigger port and the public port on the TCP protocol.
Occasionally I can connet to the internet. However when I close the connection down and try to start it up again sometimes it does not work , showing 'unable to perform operation'. The only way to re-establish the connection is to power the router down then backup(reset).
The same goes for the home networking. I had no success a all on the first day of trying. Went to work. When I came back tried it again and it worked perfectlly ?? Now on the third day it is working ocassionally.
Anyone else had simmilar problems ? If so any soultions would be appreciated ! The phone itself seems to be pretty glitcy. And battery life isnt the best either. Apart from that eh !

Forget that - just sussed it out...
    I'm using v3.0617.0.6 (03-05-2006) RM-92, Nokia N80 (31.01)
I can't seem to get anything using the browser - I constantly get "Out of memory" errors, even when trying to use GPRS.
It moans something about "packet data" and then bombs out...

  • N80 & HOME MEDIA SERVER, HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY GOT I...

Has anyone actually got their N80 to connect to thier pc's using the Simple server home media server software, if so what firmware have you got on your phone and what access point / wireless router are you using ?.
My N8- connects to my network just fine and can browse the internet just fine too, and I can also query my N80 using a upnp test program and it shows up just fine using that so it shows the upnp is not getting blocked by anything, but some some reason it just will not show up in the Pc software and when you try to connect to the pc with the N80 all you get is searching for devices..........
When I quey the phone with the test program I get :
    Description: Multimedia Device
    DeviceType: urn:schemas-upnp-org:device:MediaServer:1
    FriendlyName: N80
    Manufacturer: Nokia
    ManufacturerUrl: http://www.nokia.com/
    ModelName: Nokia N80
    ModelNumber:
    ModelURL: http://www.nseries.com/
    PresentationUrl:
    SerialNumber:
    UDN: uuid:f0086e4c-f219-10e0-ae0f-0016BC7B14C
    UPC:
So it seems to be working......

its late and i have not read your post in full (too bad).
if you've got the server installed (plus UPnP enabled on your router) you should see your phone. if the server can see it you will see a large picture of the N80 there, check the tabs. if you can't do anything with it (like i experienced initially), make sure you got into your actual phones home network sharing settings. i have to share the phones contents each time i use the sever. this finally makes the server see the phones contents as it displays additional tabs once properly connected (i.e. copy to device, copy from device).
    give that a go.

  • Help needed with N80 media player problem

    Hi,
My other half owns a N80 and he deleted something on his phone and now when he goes into media player it says there are no tracks. All the songs are in his track library but you have to manually select which songs to play instead of playing them all.
Is there a way of getting the media player to find the songs?
    Thanks, Carrie.

  • [N80] Is it possible to share files using WLAN 802...

    Hello.
I dont have a Bluetooth connection but I would like to share files between my computer and my N80 using the WLAN not bluetooth.
    Thanks

maybe if we could get a Symbian emulator for windows , we could setup the WLAN connection and then share files from Symbian to Symbian.
but when you share files using bluetooth you are also making a connection Windows->Symbian.
therefore is kinda weird.Message Edited by macnet on 11-Aug-200705:18 PM

  • Can some one translate these instructions D-Link DI-524: installation as wireless HUB/Bridge   General  ON ALL TYPES OF ROUTERS DHCP SERVER HAS TO BE DISABLED ON ALL TYPES OF ROUTERS UPnP ALSO HAS TO BE DISABLED OTHERWISE YOU CAN SEVERELY HINDER OTHER USE

    D-Link DI-524: installation as wireless HUB/Bridge
    General
ON ALL TYPES OF ROUTERS DHCP SERVER HAS TO BE DISABLED
ON ALL TYPES OF ROUTERS UPnP ALSO HAS TO BE DISABLED
OTHERWISE YOU CAN SEVERELY HINDER OTHER USERS IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD!
    Practical example: D-Link DI-524
The DI-524 is a wireless router.Although the manufacturer doesn't mention this, you can also install this device as a wireless hub.Of course this is not supported by the manufacturer. Therefor you have nowhere to go in case of any problems Plug in the power cord of the DI-524. Do not yet connect the network cable!Search for existing wireless networks with your computer. Connect with the router. This can for example be done like this:
Click the start-button (at the bottom in the left corner of your screen).
    Go to control panel
Go to internet connections (you may have to choose classic representation first)
You can now see your wireless network card, among other things. Right-click and 'View available Wireless networks'.
Connect to the router. In most cases the router will be called 'default'.Check your IP-address: you get an IP address from the DI-524
    Go to the start-button
    Go to 'Run'
    Type 'cmd' and press enter
    type 'ipconfig' and press enter
your IP address starts with 192.
Surf to your router with your regular browser. For this you need the address and a password, which you can find in the documentation.
In this case the address is 192.168.0.1
Now you must secure the router. For this it is best to use WPA-PSK
Your key is a randomly chosen sentence. Don't make this sentence too short.
    Warning: Case sensitive!
You cannot reach the router anymore now.
Go back to your network card via "make connection". Search for your wireless network again and make a new connection
You are asked for a key. Supply this key the way you configured it in your router.
    Surf back to the router.
    Disable the DHCP server.
!! YOU HAVE TO DISABLE UPnP ON ALL TYPES OF ROUTERS
OTHERWISE YOU CAN SEVERELY HINDER OTHER USERS IN YOUR NEIGHBOURHOOD!
for this, go to Tools, Misc and switch off UPnP
    Save these settings.
If you do not have a D-link router, look up in the manual or somewhere else where you can disable UPnP
Now you cannot reach the router anymore again.
It is only from this moment that you can connect the router to the modem.
Important: Use one of the 4 LAN ports. Never use the WAN port!
Go to your network card via the control panel. Right-click and "Repair"
Now you should get an IP-address in the range of 10.nnn.nnn.nnn
If you still don't have 192... you've made an error. The DI-524 still functions as a router and this is not allowed!

There are no Mac based instructions. The router is accessed and adjusted the same way whether you are using a Mac OS X, Windows or Linux. As noted in the other post it is done through your web browser which works the same from any computer. Even a Chrome Book.

Thank you for that what I have been trying to do is extend the range of my wifi witha second dilink router. I was hoping for some mac based directions to achive this rather than the PC based as presented. Thank you for your ireply Paul

  • Can I use a Nokia N80 as a modem for my G4 PowerBook?

I'm about to spend a month in Italy and will take my G4 PowerBook with me. I need to buy a new mobile phone and thought that if I buy the Nokia N80 Internet Edition I can also use it as a modem for my PowerBook and connect using UMTS or EDGE. I already have a prepaid SIM card with TIM (Italian mobile service provider).
Has anyone successfully used the N80 with their G4 PowerBook?

  • Remove Calendar display from N80???

Is there any way to remove the upcoming appointments from the home screen on the N80, i have a great picture on there that is blocked out by some upcoming calendar entries. I cannot see how to remove these in the manual.
    Any help is greatly received.
    Regards
    Craig

    Hi Craig,
You can do that by turning Active standby to off via Menu > Tools > Settings > Phone > Standby mode > Active standby > Off.
Unfortunately, this also take out the Active standby applications, a.k.a the row above the upcoming appointments.
    Cheers. ^_^

  • N80 vista x64 portable device driver

    Hi,
When connecting the N80 to USB and selecting "Media Player" mode, vista doesnt find an appropriate driver. I installed nokia suite 6.83. I remember that this worked at somepoint, but I somehow managed to delete the nokia n80 entry via uninstall from the Device Manager->Portable Devices. It now shows up under Device Manager->Other Devices with an "exclamation mark". If I right-click and do an "Update Driver Software...", vista doesnt find anything. Forcing it to use the "Portable Devices->Nokia Windows Portable Device Driver" doesnt really help either: windows media player 11 doesnt show the device to sync with.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Chris

    I would try re-installing the PC-suite.
My favorite N80 applications: Nokia Mobile Search, Smart2go Beta,
    S60 Internet Radio, Mobile Weather.

  • Windows Vista & GPRS-internet on N80 through BT

    Hi All,
Did anyone face a problem with N80 in establishing a connection to a mobile GPRS internet using One-touch Access from PC Suite (via Bluetooth!)?
The error is that PC Suite doesn't find any suitable modem (In OS modem list, a standard bluetooth modem figures).
Tip - the same phoneset, same GSM provider and same PC Suite on another PC (XP sp2) - no problem.
    Would appreciate any help...

same problem for me as well.. I can dial from the bluesoleil interface though but i prefer to do everything from Nokia PC-suite

  • PC Suite doesn´t connect to N80 IE after upgrade

I recently got the new N80 IE. Everything was fine using the version of PC Suite which comes with the phone. But after upgrading the the newest version, the USB cable connection doesn´t work anymore (using the phone as USB disk still works). There are no error messages. When trying to connect via cable the connection assistant just doesn´t proceed when i press the "continue" button. I´ve uninstalled all components. I started the Reg Cleaner but with no success. Any ideas (ok haven´t tried to install the old version)

Thanks for the advice. It works! But now, although PC Suite shows that the phone is connected 'Nokia 6020 connected via IrDA', I can't get the programs within PC Suite to connect. When I start Synchonise, it says phone not connected. When I select a phone, the 6020 is listed, and when I click on connection to select Infrared nothing happens - I can't proceed further from here.
