Hi,
Since I upgraded my N80 to the latest verison of the firmware my O2 balance alerts don't work!
Any Ideas???
Many Thanks

Yes, it's a bug. There's a post about this in the software updates forum. It may be an idea to have a look in there.

People here in Brazil that have unbranded (generic) firmware of N80 could update it to v4.0707.0.7.
But the problem is brazilian firmware's lost ALL topics related to builtin applications, like Camera, Real Player, Contacts, Log, Gallery, etc...
If you open any application and press Options-help, you will only get the message "No help topics available".More suprisingly, if you open "Help" application, you'll realize there are no help topics at all for builtin applications. The only help topics available are for applications that have been installed either manually, or automatically by NSU, like Adobe Reader, Zip Manager or Resco Photo Viewer.
That's a great drawback, as "help" application could even replace user's manual in previous firmware, cause there were lots of topics...
It definitely happens with Brazilian firmware and needs to be fixed.
Maybe it occurs with some other countries' firmware too...

    Don't tell 'em that!
    They'll never release the firmware
Tell 'em something like the firmware improves the photo quality by using a different compression algorithm. Sufficiently confusing to get by them, I reckon.
I did quote potential battery life improvements, etc etc, but to be honest she threw me by asking why I wanted it!! I did mention potential battery life improvements too, which drives me nuts.
Anyway, we shall see (without baited breath)..

  • N80 4.0707.0.7

    Hi,
I 'upgraded' my nokia N80 to version 4.0707.0.7 and find my phone is a lot worse then before.
The Bluetooth looses connection randomly and is crackly at best now, it was bad before but is even worse now !!!
I think in a effort to save battery life they have set the screen to go blank immediately after the time out and the blue led starts flashing. It used to display a moving time bar for a short period before - no longer !!!!
Nokia PC synch stuff stopped working, it could no longer recognise my phone, so I had to upgrade that also.
    SORT IT OUT NOKIA.

    Hi there...
Yupz... i'm totally agreed with rmistry22,
I've listed all my n80 problems here after upgraded my firmware to version 4.0707.0.7 :
-Music player will be open automatically when push n hold the multimedia key. It can't be configured any more... (before it can be configured by pressing multimedia key n select "configure")
-No shutter tone when taking picture in camera modes but in video modes got...
-Wlan scanning : when i select "start browsing" after the scan, there's nothing happen! it doesn't even open a web browser too... sumtimes when surfing it say "no wlan found... bla bla bla" (it's really hard to get a stable connection which is easy before...)
-The other thing is, i'm from Malaysia and i'm using Maxis Hotlink network... when i dial *122# to check a balance of my prepaid there's nothing happened also... (blank screen) i mean no dialog box appear... i don't know why... this is not happened with my previous firmware before this v4.0707.0.7...
I hope nokia will update the firmware for us...
This is WISHLIST for the next firmware:
    -Fix a calendar
-more stable n fix all the bugs

  • N80 problems after last FW update

    I have the following phone:
    Type:RM-92 (N80-1)
    Code:0527480
    FW version:V 4.0707.0.7 (28-03-2007)
After upgrading to this firmware, I was faced with two rather irritating problems.
    1) I've made a backup of the phone. After upgrading the FW, I restored the backup. Now, when I power up the phone, it says "Installing" after it boots up. Then, after a couple of seconds it says "Untrusted software found on memory card, install manually blah-blah". I installed all but one of these "untrusted" files, but I cannot remove from the list one which I no longer need. Application manager is set to allow all aplications and never check certificates online. Question is how to remove this sis file which I no longer need and which is, probably, causing this to happen.
And a mental note to Nokia, if they ever bother to read this - don't try to make the phone smarter than it should be - if I say I want to allow installation of all software, do not bother me with "untrusted" stuff.
    2) a bigger problem is that service commands do not work. Tried entering them on the standby screen and from messaging/options, same thing happens. The phone says it's "requesting" the wanted data, but no reply from my service operator appears on the screen. It's not a probem with the operator, as other phones work correctly

  • N80 Code 0528792 - "No available updates"

My N80 was changed four time from my Nokia Service Point because of keypad problems.
Today my Nokia Service Point told me that Nokia now send a complet new phone not only a repaired one.
At home I've checked the firmware version:
    V 3.0617.0.6
    03-05-2006
    RM-92
    Nokia N80 (01)
It's a little bit strange to get a new phone (not a repaired/used one) with an old firmware...?!? So I've tried to update the firmware using the Nokia Update Software.
Message: "No software updates available for your phone"
Where is the problem to update an original nokia n80? My first N80 was without a provider branding, my second and third N80 had the correct v4... firmware version. Now one step back - a new N80 with old v3 firmware...
    Perhaps someone has an idea...

    Hi !
I got a week ago my N80 form a friend second had.
    Code: 0528792
    V 3.0614.01
    31-03-2006
    RM-92
    Nokia N80 (01)
It seams that this is the oldes firmware ever with no chance to update in any way.
I tried to install some S60 software. But most of it does not work.
Is there hope or do I have to dump that thing ?
    Greetings

  • N80 on the Nokia Software Updater

    Dear updaters,
We are pleased to announce the inclusion of Nokia N80 to the list of products supported by the Nokia Software Updater.
There are two things to note:
    1. Not all variants may have the latest software. New variants are constantly being updated, so if your variant is not included, please check back again soon.
    2. If you have installed the SMS accelerator patch for your Nokia N80, this will need to be re-installed after the N80 software update. The SMS accelerator patch is available from http://www.europe.nokia.com/A4149142

  • N80 - Outlook Sync fail since update

I have a N80, just updated (via PC Suite and NSU) as advised due to it rebooting itself a few times a day.
Ever since the update I cannot sync with outlook, I tried taking the battery out with no joy.
    Any idea's?
    Thanx in advance

It says "Nokia PC Sync - Not Connected", but at the bottom it says N80 connected via bluetooth (cable also works), It won't even let me select a phone in PC sync. everything else works on the PC sync inlcuding Backup/Restore.

  • N80 v4.0707.0.7 two problems

    Hi,
I have updated the firmware and afterwards I encountered two problems.
    1. I used the back-up to memory function and after install I restored it. The problem is every time I switch my phone on it says it cannot complete install, go to Tools>App.Mgr and reinstall the programs yourself. In there I can't find anything that I can install, everything is installed.
    2. After the firmware upgrade, I had another Menu Button called Internet. It contains the Internet Phone. After restarting the phone because of the memory restore, it dissappeared. So now I am back to my original menu system.
    Can somebody please explain...
    Thanks
    Ailean

    1. Could be you have uninstalled apps on the memory card.
    2. Look in the My Own folder for the Internet stuff

  • N80 v4.0707.0.7 Sleep Mode Problem

    Hi every body,
    Menu\Tools\Settings\Phone\Display\Sleep Mode
    Originally It's ON.
It Should go in Sleep Mode 20min after ScreenSaver, but why it don't work true.
Sleep Mode Start, Quickly after ScreenSaver!
    Why ?

Hi, I have the same firmware version and my phone behaves the same - screen saver kicks in a few seconds after I lock the keypad, and then sleep mode kicks in right away.
I also noticed something else which I wonder if anyone else has noticed: the phone has entered sleep mode, so the screen is blank and the blue light is flashing. Then I receive a call, and answer it by either sliding the phone up or pressing the answer button. After I end the call, I notice that the blue light is still flashing, and it continues to flash as I use the phone to do other things, when the phone is obviously not in the sleep mode. The blue light will only stop flashing after the phone has entered sleep mode again and is "awakened" by me sliding it open or unlocking the keypad, i.e. not by answering a call.
Has anyone noticed this happening to their phone? If I understand correctly, the only function of the blue light is to indicate that the phone is "sleeping" so I think this is a bug. Thanks for your input.

  • N80 firmware updates

Hello all... this is my first post in this discussion...
i have a problem with my N80 ... i just updated its firmware today from v3 to v5 using Nokia Software Updater... evrythng run smooth (so far..) .... however the only problem ive encountered is it wont detect any wireless network... even i try keep the closest range to the wireless still it wont detect .. can somebody help me on where did i go wrong??
thanks and hoping to get a very quick reply

Is it just with the one wlan or have a you tried a few. If it is with all wlan's then I would suggest reinstalling the update  or resetting the phone. I updated my own N80 to V5 almost 2 years ago now and had no problems and it is still working well.

  • N80 Firmware changelog?

Is there a Nokia certified website or source where I can find a history of N80 firmwares and what changes took place in each one?
A changelog would be absolutely fantastic to help verify that new firmewares really fix observed problems.
Also, it could be used to check if I have the latest firmware (I know I could just hook my phone up and sync it, but I'd rather have a simpler method since I've seen the Nokia Software Updater program fail on me a lot hence I don't trust it).
Currently I have an N80 running 4.0707.0.7, updated just yesterday from the previous version.

Being a computer program and well familiar with embedded systems myself I was afraid the case would be that Nokia doesn't release the details of each firmware update. Honestly, I think that is a form of sort of "corporate programmer cowardice."
Regardless, you bring up another good point: N80 users certainly should NOT load the new 4.0707.0.7 firmware as it has some severe problems.
Just to help future searchers get this:
Nokia N80 4.0707.0.7 firmware is broken and bad, do not upgrade or load this firmware.

  • Whether only s60 3.2 can support update fw Over-th...

why i only see the n96 and n78 use the FOTA?
how about the s60 3.1????? like n95/8g n82 and so on???
my n95 8g can not use the function!! why???
    the setting problem?
    Do better than the best!

No one knows exactly why they didn't use the FOTA system on FP1 devices.
Numerous FOTA trials have been carried out over the years (some N80's had a FOTA update) but it's not until recently the system has matured enough to be widely used.
It's unlikely that FOTA will be used on FP1 phones now that FP2 and S60v5 have been released.

Hi - I updated mine and it is great. Here are some simple steps I picked up and followed off the GSM arena blog
    1) Make sure you have the latest PC suite (6.81)from : http://europe.nokia.com/A4144903, or other local regional sites.
    2) Install the Nokia software update application sw from http://www.nokia.co.uk/softwareupdate (note you need 256MBytes of RAM on your PC or it will not install and you getan error message)
    3) Then program your phone
    a) Backup your phone memory (ROM) using PC suite (to preserve your DRM activation keys etc).
    b) Copy your files (Music, Videos, Documents, Images etc) from the device HDD to your PC (recommended to use USB Mass storage).
    c) Copy your applications, themes etc (original SISX, Java etc files before you installed them) from your HDD to your PC (Do not simply copy the installed directories/files over)
    d) FORMAT your HDD
    e) Proceed with SW update (note you need to be attached to a charger and not in offline mode. Do not answer or make call or disconnect the device during this process)
    f) Reset your phone memory by typing *#7370# (code 12345) (recommend this just to be safe)
    g) Restore your phone memory using PC suite
    h) Copy back your HDD contents from your PC to your clean HDD
    h) Re-install your applications/themes

  • Pearl with memory card works until synch with desktop mgr

I have a Pearl 8130 and a 4gb MicroSD HC card.  The card has been formatted and I used the Roxio software from desktop mgr to move stuff to the card.  All was good.  Now each time I connect the pearl and sync with the desktop software, once I disconnect from the laptop, the phone doesn't recognize the memory card.  I have to "add" it each time and then it works fine.  Any idea why my connecting to the desktop software would somehow make the phone no longer see the memory card?  I searched in the support forums and nothing came up.
    Desktop Mgr ver 4.3.0.17, smartphone v 4.3.0.97
Media card support On, Mass storage mode On, Auto enable Mass Storage Mode Yes, Total space 3.7GB, Free space 3.4GB
    Thanks.

hi Sanj, you may try to delete everything form the memory card with a card reader under windows, or also may try to format the memory card to fat32, and then try use it again with your phone. I recommend to format the card with the phone after it started successfully.
