N800 and BBC Listen Again
I recently upgraded my n800 to OS2008 and now can't get BBC's Listen Again features to work. When accessing such a site from the BBC and pressing the Listen Again button, the correct site comes up but nothing is playing. The BBC says I need RealPlayer installed so I follow their links to Real.Com and try to download RealPlayer 10 for Linux. When I hit Download RealPlayer, a blank screen pops up and nothing happens.
I also downloaded a version of RealPlayer directly from Real and saved it in the N800's Documents as an .exe file. But then when I try to open it, I get back a message saying "Uanble to recognise file type." When I try opening it with Application Manager, I'm told the "Installation file is corrupted."
Any suggestons?

You can listen to the BBC over wifi no problem (in the UK at least), and all the listen again links I have used worked perfectly without having to open Real Player separately - the link itself just worked.

According to this wikipedia article, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IOS_version_history, you need an iPod Touch 3rd generation or iPad 1st generation as minimum to run iOS 5.1. However, if you are going to get a new (or newish) device, I would recommend getting a more recent model for a bit of future proofing - the next time the BBC updates the app it will probably raise the minimum version of iOS too.

My Apple TV and IPad drop after x mintues from "Home Sharing". To restart it, I need to close iTunes on my Windows 7 PC, open it , then I can listen again X minutes (15-90 minutes) to my music via "Home Sharing". Any idea why? What worked for you?
I believe if you updated your Apple TV, you need iTunes 11 to make it work.

Problems installing Adobe Air and BBC iPlayer Desktop
I'm running Windows 7 32 bit on an ASUS netbook with 2mb ram. I installed both Air 3.7 and BBC iPlayer Desktop using Google Chrome. I downloaded 3 BBC programmes. Two ran fine but the third wouldn't start and I kept getting a message to try again later. I deleted this programme and downloaded it again, with the same result.
So I uninstalled both Air and the BBC iPlayer Desktop, the Air exe file and the two folders at the following locations:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\AIR\ and
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\BBCiPlayerDesktop.xxx
Since doing this each time I try to install Air either on its own or with the BBC iPlayer software I get the message part way through installation:
"Sorry, an error has occurred.
An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
I have run the Microsoft Fix it programme and still get the same result.
I have tried everything on your Trouble Shooting page apart from the bit about the elevated command prompt, but as I'm the sole user and administrator, that seems unnecessary.
I have closed Chrome and tried installation using Windows Explorer but with the same result.
I have tried all the above with Microsoft Security Essentials running and disabled. And I have tried the same with Astrill on and off.
I have had a response from the BBC with much the same advice as appears on your trouble shooting page.

1. Store message in database
2. do some processing
At step 1, if there is any issue with the database connection (e.g. database is not available etc), I rollback transaction. My idea is to leave the message on queue for now and retry it again after some time unless the database is back again. "Maximum retries" of the listener port is set to N but since there is no retry interval available, all N retries are done in a flash and my listener port stops working. I am on windows 7 and I upgraded to the newest verison of firefox and now it will not open. I have removed firefox completely and uploaded it again and that did not work. I then made sure it could get through my firewall and that did not work. So my latest attempt I removed firefox 10 again and uploaded the beta version hoping that would do it and once again nothing. It will not open at all. Please help - is there a live chat or a number to talk to someone at Firefox?
I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

Delete the broken links in iTunes then look at your purchased list to redownload.
If this happened because you were deleting files from the iTunes folder in Finder, don't. You have to let iTunes do all the deleting and moving or you will end up with broken links. -
Extensions like Ghostery, WOT or AdBlock stop working after two or three times. Restarting the webpage in a new tab the extensions will work again for several times and then stop again. Has anybody an explanation or a workaround for this bug in Safari 5?

When I try to right click now instead of getting the menu it goes into a new tab showing recent searches.I have to go back and right click again to get the menu and do what I wanted in the first place.Is there a way to fix this.This is really irritating.I like firefox but I'm ready to go back to Chrome. You're right-clicking a link? I can't think of any setting that opens a blank tab when you right-click in a page. It's also strange that it would occur on the first click but not on the second click.
Does this affect all sites?
Are you expecting Firefox's context menu or the site's context menu?
One thing that comes to mind is overriding the site's own right-click handler by disabling scripts from capturing the right click. This is set under
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content
To the right of "Enable JavaScript" is a button to access "Advanced" options. If it's checked, uncheck the box for "Disable or replace context menus". -
I don't know what happened. All of a sudden, my settings have been changed, my homepage, and EVERYTHING. No matter how many times I go in and change them again, the SAME pages open up when I start FireFox and I am constantly being asked if I want Yahoo as my start page and default search engine. I click the box 'do not ask me again' and it comes up EVERY TIME. I change things like I don't want history remembered, and when I reload FireFox again, it's back to the way it was BEFORE. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I don't know why this is happening, or how to fix it. What do I do??

I have been trying to get Firefox to open up and everytime I double click on the icon nothing happens. I have gone to the task manager and deleted it from the process list and tried again and still will not open. I have even tried deleting the program and downloading it again and it still will not open.

MacBook Pro doesnt start. When I start my lap top, it shows the apple and the line uploading but it only goes like to 1/3 and then it goes blank for some seconds, then it turns off by itself and turn on again and happen the same, apple logo, line .. the noise like-fan going on, then turn off and turn on again. when trying to play FarmVille with Firefox on my laptop, a window continually pops open with the title "about blank" then it closes, and pops open again right away. Because of this I can not manage to do anything on the FarmVille screen. This does NOT happen on my desktop machine. Both are running Windows 7 64 bit. How can I prevent the window from poping up all the time? Something is continually sending a request, but I do not know what it is. Thank you for any help or suggestions. By the way, Google Chrome works perfectly, but I prefer Firefox.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I have a template that I am able to plug different pictures into at different times. The problem is that when I plug an image into that template, I find that the image is either too big or too small. Is there a way to plug the image into the template and resize the image (and not the template itself) OR will I have to go to the file with the original image and resize it there and then try to plug it in to the template to see if it fits------and if it does not fit, go back to the original file with the image and resize it again and see if that fits---and so on and so on...........? I have tried the" image size" option but it's hit or miss------mostly miss!

Jut create a Smart Object from the layer containing whatever it image it is that you are "plugging into your template". But you do need to learn the application at its most basic levels.
