N81 8GB Firmware availability

I know Im not alone here, but Im just wondering how many other N81 8GB owners here are still stuck on V11 firmware?
There are many claims all over the net stating that V20 is available, but it is infact not the case to all N81 8GB owners.
Does anyone know when the N81 8GB will officially get new firmware, because V11 has a serious flaw in it, that the Navi Wheel has very poor response.
Thanks

I would like to ask when will Nokia release the firmware for APAC region? I've seen the APAC firmware leaked in certain forum however NSU do not have the latest firmware for it yet. It still showing me the latest firmware as V11.0.045

APAC Firmware for N81 8GB V20.0.056
I am really dissapointed with the efficiency of Nokia and I have been a Nokia User since year 2001 (Nokia 3310) and I have bought more than 20 different model. I hope Nokia should take my request into consideration and release it quickly for the APAC region as EURO had their firmware upgraded already. My phone product code is 0554833.

• N81 8gb firmware update - language change?

Hi Everyone,
I've bought an N81 8gb which has Chinese, English, and Melayu as language set. I'm currently living in China and therefore the Chinese language set is crucial; however, I know that N81 8gb is not officially released in China and therefore, there is no official firmware update from China.
My current device firmware is at V.10.0.053 RM-179. If I use the PC suite's software updater, will I lose the chinese language set on my phone? Has anyone lost their languages after updating?
I'm a bit weary to do try because I updated my girlfriend's bought in China N72 which reverted to the Nokia Europe site but the device software only had French, English, Italian and no Chinese after installing the update.

It's not possible to upgrade offline.
The nokia software updater needs an active broadband internet connection to be able to work.
As an alternative you could get our phone updated at a nokia care point.

• N81 8GB speaker...

N81 8GB Firmware: V.11.0.045 , recently I’ve heard ‘pop’ sound every 10-15second +- when I listen to music through loudspeaker. A small 'pop' sound but its quite annoying. Is it the firmware problem or my speaker problem? Before this I didn’t notice at all. The speaker is working fine, but there is the pop sound, can anyone from nokia tell me why?

• N81 8GB Phone memory is not available !!!

I am using N81 8GB. So far I know brand new N81 8GB has 16MB of free internal memory and somewhat 8GB of free external memory (where internal memory in the phone memory and external memory is the memory card.
Last three months it was asking me “Phone Memory” is out of space whereas I used only 2GB out of 8GB mass memory.  I installed everything in Mass memories. Recently it was asking me , Phone memory is not available. I used “OVI suite” with  cable and found 24MB already used 0(zero) space available. Then I deleted all programme, music, video and  and others from “Mass memory”  and formatted it. Even deleted everything except default program. Then I flashed the Mobile from OVI update suite. Version has changed but found 21MB is occupied out of 24MB. Now tell me what’s the solution to free the spaces?
I can’t receive more than 3 or 4 music (small) files via Bluetooth. It asks me to free the inbox space. So far I had total 10 text message (SMS) in inbox. Why it should ask me whereas I have enough memory( 6GB) in “Mass Memory” ?
Is there any solution?
Solved!

At last my N81 8GB  Phone memory problem is solved by using the command

Second Step:    Factory Reset (R S T 0 ?)>>>
*#7780#
After contact address sync from OVI.com , Now Phone memory is
7.48MB used
16.9MB free
total = 24.4 MB

As with any kind of product from any company, a new Nokia phone model may be put on sale anything from a couple of weeks to several months from the public and press launch.
There are also a number of factors outside of Nokia's control that have to be taken into account -
(1) Once launched and made available for sale, many operators and high-street retailers will only order new stock in accordance with their normal routines, ie: they might place orders with Nokia at certain intervals, or they might not order new stocks until sufficient numbers of their existing stocks have been sold.
(2) Once Nokia has orders for the new model, stocks have to be distributed to the operators/retailers, who then have to get the phoens into their own distribution chains to the various outlets.
(3) In many markets, operators dominate the mobile phone market, and in these cases you can bet your bottom dollar the phones will be repackaged in the operator's boxes with the operator's versions of the firmware before it hits the shop shelf.
(4) SIM-free phones are, in many markets, only available direct from the manufacturer or from independent retailers. Nokia does not decide how many phones will be SIM-free, ti depends on the individual market as to how dominant operators are.
(5) Sales dates will also vary from country to country

• N-Gage on Nokia N81-8gb.

Hi,
I have got an original N81-8gb (RM-179) the one that came with a demo version of the n-gage application before its first release. (Or pre version 1 of the n-gage 2 if you see what I mean).  I have had no problems with it (or the device) until I came to update the n-gage client to the latest version.  Unfortunately the client fails to install (regardless of how I get the installer on the device) with an error about it being a"built-in component" which I suppose it was when i first had the device, but I was able to install the first full release version.
I'm running the latest firmware 21.0.10 (Or something like that, its reported as being up to date with the Software Updater) and Have tried uninstalled everything and even reset the phone to factory defaults all to no avail.  As a side note I also cannot even uninstall the n-gage application as it doesn't appear in the AppManager and pressing the 'c' key on the icon to delete also fails.
Does anyone have any ideas as the customer care email address is completely useless as they don't seem to bother reading your email and only tell you to...
1) Install the latest firmware (I already am)
2) Install the n-gage app (I can't thats the problem)
3) Reflash your n95 (I don't own one)
4) Goto 1.
I just hope that someone else has had this problem and can help. Thanks in advance.
- Skavenger.

Do a hard reset, and then try again to install the n gage application into your phone.
Hard reset (the three key code/reset). Turn off the phone. Press and hold three keys together, the green/talk key, the * key and the number '3'.Then, turn on the phone and don't let the three keys before you see the nokia hands logo/nokia boot up screen.Warning! You will lose ALL your phone's data/files!

• N81 8GB production stopped in INDIA??

Guys,
I am considering to buy a good and decent slide phone and couldn't imagine more than N81. I was a little confused about the flavour whether to get the N81 2GB or the N81 8GB version. I just thought of giving it a little hands on and went to a nokia priority show room nearby.
The dealer informed me that the N81 8GB production has been stopped. Can any one of you confirm the same, have you guyz had the same problems??  I need to know the battery life and speed of the N81 memory card version with a 8GB memory card?
Have any one had serious problems with N81 and i have second thoughts on 5800, but itz a piece of plastic **bleep** i don't even like the UI design and the buggy touch screen hard to get things work?
Does the N81 8GB version use all of 8GB as internal memory escpecially for some problems with "Need more memory consider closing other applications" problems?

The N81 and N81 8GB have a fairly small internal phone storage memory space (around 12 to 17MB free - depending on the firmware version - coming from the factory).
With the N81 you complement it with a memory card.
With the N81 8GB you have 8GB of secondary mass memory (a separate drive).
Note that this is storage space (to store files, install applications to).
Both models have the same amount of run-time memory (DRAM) available for applications; 128MB in total, and about 40MB free after boot.

• N81 8GB blue flash lens and very poor picture qual...

Hello.
I have purchased the N81 8GB yesterday and have two enquirees regarding the camera and the lans. The flash len's is tinted blue which make's taking photos with it, appear as an overall cool tint has been applied to the picture. I have searched the internet to find to why it is blue to no avail. Is this normal?

Secondly, the 2MP camera quality is appaling. I have seen many test shot's taken with the phone however nowhere have I seen such poor image quality. I am thinking an firmware update might fix this issue. Currently the phone has FW 11.0.045 installed and I am told via Software updater that the FW is up to date, however an quick internet search reveal's that the newest firmware is in the 20x range. (Region setting perhaps?)
Please enlighten me reagrding the previous enquirees.

And what kind of a question is that. I brought it from an nokia representative.
Ill try to take it to nokia care centre.
Hmm it is very hard to justiify If I have scratched the len's or what not. Can you verify is the len's of suck phones as this one mentioned can be scratched easily with an fingernail? If not then it might be the protective film which somehow is challanging to remove (providing the phone has any)

• N81 8GB update

i have N81 8GB its product code 0552048 i  always hav  pc suite remainder say new software update available 21.0.010 and whn i try 2 update my device no responce its say no software available now whn i try check my product code on nokia web site it say Sorry, there is no software currently available for that product code via the Nokia Software Update tool. plz hep

is your phone branded to the provider? if it is then only provider can approve an update for your phone. if the phone was bought unlcoked/unbranded it could also be that the product code /region has not gotten the firmware update release yet. updates are released over a course of months sometimes even longer if translation comes into play. so these could be the reasons why you can't udpate your device
