In Seattle, can't get connected to Clear on the Nokia n810 wimax.  Running Maemo 4.1 (Diablo) and have the clearwire-settings update on it.  With Clear, we checked the MAC # carefully, and in the Nokia n810 connection manager, the device picks up the Wimax signal, and there's a strength bar.  This is as far as I can go.  I get a message about provisioning, and the Clear rep. then says they are provisioning the device from their end.  Then, nothing.  Clear can not pick up my device, nor can I finish connecting to their service.  Just get an error message about unable to connect.  The signal is good, and I have tried it from different neighborhoods around the tower.  Tech. support speculated that maybe the device only works in xohm or former xohn markets, and not markets where Clear came in fresh with the newer (incompatible) equipment.  I found a "Wimax Positioning Quick Reference Guide" put out by Verizon, which shows the Nokia n810 wimax device as a xohm device, in the Baltimore, Chicago, D.C., Boston, Dallas, and Philly market.  On the other hand, the chart showed wimax-ready notebooks as listed devices for Sprint/Clearwire for Atlanta, Las Vegas, Portland, Boise, Seattle, Chicago, Dallas, Phlilly, Seattle, San Fran, New York, D.C., etc.  Finally, Clear said they did not think one of their Connection Managers would work, as the device was meant to connect directly to the wimax.  I have also heard that in xohm markets, the xohm modems were not compatible with Clear when they began rolling out service in those markets.  Can anyone make sense of all this?  Do I have any chance of getting clear wimax on my Nokia n810 wimax in Seattle?

  • Newbie needs best non-phone internet tablet

I'm on a quest for the "right" device for my needs which are primarily music and movie viewing but I want a good browsing experience with some texting. Every time I think I've found a great solution it turns out to be either 2 years old or so bleeding edge I can' get my hands on it for months. I'm here to ask about the N810 WiMax (or other) edition. It looks pretty darn good but it's already a dead item. Have I missed the current iteration of it? They can still be found. Would you buy one now given what else is out there?
I do not want iTouch or Zune (don't like that they are proprietary).
Found Creative Labs and liked their Vision Wide which has a huge screen but is as old or older than the N810. Their newest item XFi2 has a 3" screen which seems a bit small.
Also considering something from Archos. I was looking at their 5 v 7 and decided while the 7" was lovely it was too big. Then I noticed they JUST released a 5" tablet with Android. It looks pretty HOT... but it's so dang new I can't get one in time for an October 24th flight which is what prompted my wanting a tablet for movie viewing in flight.
I'm open to all input be it Nokia or other options. Thank you.
    Sheila in Seattle

The iPhone works fine over cellular. You did mention a certificate - I am going to guess that this may be the issue.
If you open Safari on the iPhone and connect to your OWA, do you get a warning? When you viewed the cert in IE, is it self-signed? If so you need to get it on the iPhone. The easiest way is to set up gmail or something similar on iPhone and email it to yourself.
when it come in email your iPhone will immediately recognize it as a file that you can import it. Select it and import it, then you should be able to connect to your Outside Exchange server.

  • N810 (Internet Tablet): Is it possible to have the...

    Hello,
I have a brand new Nokia N810 with a built-in GPS. There is a Map application from WayFinder (a company that is only contactable via a non working web form!) included with the device. The map application starts fine, and have maps for my country (Sweden). When the application starts it also starts the GPS. That is, the GPS icon appears alongside the connection, bluetooth, etc icons att the top of the screen. The "View->GPS view" menu pops up a window showing the number of satelites it have found, and it does find satelites!
Now my problem is that there seem to be now way whatsoever to make the map actually show the GPS position! There is a "View->Show actual position" meny entry, but it has no effect. If the map shows Sundsvall (a city high up north in Sweden) and I'm in Stockholm, the map still shows Sunsvall after I select "View->Show actual position".
There is also an icon at the bottom right of the screen (looks like a plus with a box around it). I have no idea what it does, but nothing happens when I press it. I though it might be "show my position", but it is as useless as the meny entry.
Is there any way to get the map to show the actual GPS position ?
I also installed the MaemoMapper applictaion, which according to its documentation should also be able to make use of the GPS, but it fails talking to the GPS no matter what I do. I have selected the /dev/pgps device as suggested by the application, and I have verified that the device exists in the /dev filesystem, but it refuses.
Could it be that my built-in GPS simply does not work ? If so, how do I prove it is faulty so that I can return my N810 and get a new one ?
Thanks beforehand for any help or suggestions.
    Best Regards,
    Tommy Svensson

I had the same experience as you describe, but I did get it to work. First, go outside. It doesn't work from a windowsill in my experience. Car should be OK, too! Second, Maemo Mapper doesn't seem to find the GPS until the built-in Maps application is running also. I think I also used the "GPSD host" choice. I don't really remember because I didn't like Maemo Mapper even after I did get it to find my GPS. I purchased the premium nav application, and it works great for me. You get a car-friendly GUI that isn't there in the default version. In the car, it takes a minute or two to find the satellites.

  • Intel Wimax 5350 not working with windows 7/t400

As someone who uses server 2008 on my desktop, when i received my t400 a few days ago i balked at the idea of using vista.  so i decided to download and install 64bit windows 7 (from vista 32bit...i did a clean install though...i believe).  i had not heard of anyone having trouble with wireless drivers in windows 7 and indeed intel states on their website that windows 7 will automatically install the drivers for the 5350 wireless card.
unfortunately, when windows 7 installation was complete the drivers were not installed and i did not have internet access.  so i had to take the usb wireless adapter from my desktop and plug it in to access the internet.  windows update did not fix the issue.  so i installed the visa 64bit intel drivers and windows told me that my wimax device was recognized, the drivers were installed, etc.
except the wireless card still wouldn't work!  currently under network adapters it is listen as local area connection 2/network cable unplugged/intel wimax link 5350.  i don't understand this...shouldn't it be listed as a wireless network connect as my usb adapter is?
i think the problem might be that under device manager, i do not have a driver for network controller, pci serial port, or pci simple communications controller.
this is quite frustrating and i really regret not having put more thought into this windows 7 installation.
    thanks for the help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    I've got a T400 with a Intel 5350 and Windows 7 x64, I downloaded and installed the
Intel® PRO/Wireless and WiFi Link Drivers-Only for Windows Vista* (3298KB) and the
Intel® PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Connection Utility for Windows Vista* 64-Bit (9206KB) from the website listed below.
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com
Furthermore, my "Intel(R) WiFi Link 5350" and "Intel(R) WiMAX Link 5350" listed in the "Network Adapters" category, I dont have any "Wireless Network Connect" category at all.
    Hope this helps!

  • TS1398 I have wifi problem with WiMax router.

I tied to do all of ways. but it was useless to me using wimax rounter.
When other iOS version of iPhones & other android phones connect to my WiMax rounter, speed of download is average 6Mbps. Speed of upload is average 4Mbps.
but when my iPhone5 using iOS6.1b4(sure, I tired to test on iOS6.0.2) connects to the router, speed of download is average 0.3Mbps, speed of upload is average 1Mbps. sometime speed of download is 4Mbps, speed of upload is 2Mbps... what can i do??

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

  • Error in Email on N810

I have a N810. About 2 weeks ago the email app stopped working. When I start the email app my Inbox appears and after about 10 seconds there is a dialog box that says Error occurred. There is no other information and the email app closes. I am unable to check settings or anything as email just produces this error and closes.
I have done a software update as well as a refresh of the OS2008 install and I still get the same error. Can someone assist in some further diagnosis of what is wrong? There appears to be no log file that I can find.
Interesting thing is that the email checking that goes on in the background and pops notifications of new email is still working but I cannot look at the email.
I am able to look at the email with my regular email app on my mac with no issues. I have installed Modest and it works although it is not very stable at the moment and does not integrate into the tablet interface like the original email app does.
It is possible that the local email store is corrupt and I would happily delete that except I do not know where it is in the file system.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    I found the answer myself.
In SCOT, SMTP setting, Output format for ABAP list needs to be set as 'PDF' or 'TXT' instead of 'HTM'.
With HTM, it was going in for error for spool email.

  • Flash9 on Nokia N810 does not recognize microphone nor camera (works   or not?)

    Hi.
I'm testing a Nokia N810 to port some realtime webservice on
    this kind
    of platform (really good device).
I can read everywhere in the web that n810 comes with "full
    Adobe Flash9
plugin" but this plugin seems not be able to recognize
    microphone nor
camera hardware. I would need to publish at least an audio
    stream (with
    fcs): is possible or not?
and with Nokia E90 (Flash Light 3)?
    thank you.

    Hi Massimiliano,
N810 has FP9 pre-installed and is supported in the browser.
What camera and mic are you trying to access on the device?
Have you used any sample code from Flash authoring to test
    this out?

If you are in the US I had a similar problem, all the US phones connect to 3G by default no configuration needed, but N9 was a bit different. I ma on T-Mobile US, got my N9 went to store, acquired a new Micro SIM, popped into my N9, couple of seconds later, it says T-mobile, can make calls, but wait what no 3G??
    So heres what I did,
    Go to Settings-->Internet Connection
    Swipe on Internet Connection
Touch Connect to internet, click on T-Mobile web2go (maybe something else in your case), viola you have 3G now (mine says 3.5 not sure why)
Then touch/click Edit networks and make sure you mark your 3G internet connection as 'Automatic'
    Hope this helps!!
