N82 attempts constant wifi connection

My N82 is constantly attempting a wifi connection to my home router, and I don't know why. I have uninstalled every single app that uses data, and checked the settings of those I can't uninstall (as they don't appear in App Manager) to confirm that this connection is not being requested anywhere.
WLAN scanning is set to Off. Running firmware 31.01.016 (upgraded from 20.x today but hasn't fixed this).
It is specifically interested in my home router - if I am out of range, it fills the Log with attempts to connect to it every 2 seconds. Even when I am in range of other routers which have their details stored in the phone, it will ignore them and try and connect to my home wifi.
The constant attempts to connect only stop in two circumstances:
when I am in range of my home wifi router and it can successfully connect, or
if I out of range but I explicitly request a different data connection (e.g. if I connect to browse with GPRS, or connect to a different wifi router).
Obviously this is killing my battery life. I get about 8 hours when away from home. It's driving me crazy!
Any bright ideas would be much appreciated.

if you had upgraded the firmware on the AEBS to 7.6.3 that could be causing the problems. Revert back to 7.6.1 to see if that fixes the issue.

    I experience the same issues as some other posters here with the MacBook Pro, Lion, and certain networks.  All other devices (Android phone, Windows laptop, iPad...) deal with the situation just fine on the same networks.  The MacBook however gets its knickers in a twist:
    I get perpetual "Sending request..." messages at the status bar of Google Chrome.  All applications fail to find internet, despite full bars.  This was only an issue since upgrading to Lion.  A reboot of the Mac will always solve it, meaning it is not the router.  Rebooting the router often does not solve it. Turning WiFi off then on sometimes solves it.  Quitting Chrome/Safari sometimes solves it.  But rebooting the Mac always solves it.  This indicates it is an issue Apple really need to address.
    Are there any ideas here?  I have made sure there are no DNS entries.  I have deleted my home network several times and re-added it.  I have hard reset the router, and been through three (that's not a misprint) routers.
    I doubt it is a hardware issue with the Mac as it only started with Lion, on the same Mac.

    Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
    Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iOS device connect before?
    Try the following to rule out a software problem:                
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
    .- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network      
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points

    If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    I just bought an Iphone and when it attempts a wifi connection It asks for a password to my network which I have totally forgotten. When I tried to access the setup site (192.168.1.1) a dialog box popped up with the following message "A username and password are being requested by http://192.168.1.1. The site says: "WRT54GS". I couldn't get to the setup screen because as I said I have forgotten the password. What must I do? My router is WRT54GS and I am running Vista Enterprise. Thanks, Wrogers814

    If you forgot the password ....use admin as password without any username ... if that only not works .... you need to reset the router by holding the button for few seconds ....
    Make sure that power light should be solid .....

  • Downloaded 8.0.2, able to continue to connect to internet via wifi for approx. 2 hours, then, wham, no wifi connection, and when I attempt to join my wifi network, and enter my code, i am told that the code is incorrect.  I rebooted my IPad 3, nogo!

    I uploaded 8.0.2, able to continue to use my IPad 3, use internet, WiFi connectivity OK.  Then, about 1 1/2 hours later, I loose internet connection, and WiFi connectivity.   I rebooted the IPad and attempted to rejoin my WiFi network...no go, message says my password is wrong!!  I then, pursuant to a suggestion in the message boards, entered "Forget Network" and then attempted to again join my WiFi.   Again, message says "password is wrong"   Password is correct; I am on the internet on my desktop via my WiFi network!!    Is the 8.0.2 "update" defective and/or compromised??     My partner, who has an IPad Air, also updated to 8.0.2 this afternoon and has had the same problem!!!

    Actually, we up-loaded the new OS in the early evening!   We now have WiFi connectivity, and this is how it was achieved:   turned off the power to our WiFi modem, then turned it back on; wifi booted up; in IPad's Settings, WiFi:  toggled the Wi-Fi button off, waited a short while and toggled it back on; choose our network and entered our passcode...IPad finally accepted the passcode.  However, at the top left-hand portion of the screen, we now have a "No Service" statement, yet we are wifi connected and have internet service on our various apps!

  • My iPad 2 loses wifi connection on home network?

    My iPad 2 loses wifi connection at home, iPhone remains constant and macbook remains constant. iPad rechecks every couple of minutes, then about every 15min or so loses connection, then I have to reselect network. Wifi is working on husbands iPad and iPhone without problem... suggestions?
    Is a pain while surfing - suddenly get the "no internet connection", have to exit and go to settings and reselect the network. Frequently takes more than one attempt to reconnect.

    Try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
    Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
    If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.

  • Constant WiFi problems

    I have constant problems with iPad wireless connections. Even when attempting to use iPhone Hotspot, the iPad will only connect 50% of the time - the rest - "Unable to join network"! Whats going on?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • Wifi connection issues with Home Hub 5

    Hi can any body help because I am starting to get very frustrated with the Home Hub 5 and it's wireless connection.
    infinity 2 was installed at my house in the beginning of September, everything worked Ok for three weeks then for no apparent reason the hub kicked out all of my wireless devices (phones, kids iPods, tablets etc) at 6:45 one morning. When I got home from work I rang BT and was told to perform a Pin reset. This seemed to work but less tham 48 hours later at exactly the same time in the morning the hub kicked out all of my devices again, this time I just pressed the restart button on the top of the hub and everything reconnected but the Wifi range within my house had dropped. A few days later the hub kicked all my devices out again (each time it has done this the light on the hub has remained blue showing it is supposedly working OK)
    One evening this week the hub of its own accord cycled through all the colours of lights indicating problems and that it was restarting. Today at 10:15 the hub kicked all my Wifi devices out again. I have contacted BT every time this has happened and told them about the poor range of the Wifi signal.
    I do not want to be restarting/resetting my Hub every couple of weeks i need a permanent solution.
    One of the reasons I switched from TalkTalk to BT when fibre became available was the fact that the Home Hub 5 was supposed to be the best provided router by any of the networks, being the only one that is an AC class router. The thing costs £130 if you want to by one. Quite frankly the £60 TP-Link dual band router I bought when I was with TalkTalk had a better range and was more stable. I would switch back to that if I knew BT's router settings (but they like to keep that a secret)
    I really am beginning to regret switching from TalkTalk. Please someone restore my faith in BT.

    Sorry its taken a while to reply to your post.
    I wanted to try BT's latest attempt at a solution before i tried your idea.
    Since your reply the Home Hub 5 has dropped the Wifi connection to my devices another three times.
    The second time less than 30hours after BT's so called fix, which was to make sure the 5Ghz channel was not syncing with the 2.4Ghz channel. Tonight it went again and BT's response was to take the router out of smart channel selection and manually select channel 9,6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 36,40,44 or 48 on 5Ghz. Well I havent even bothered with that, if the prats at BT would look at their records they would see they have already suggested that.
    This HH5 is the most unreliable piece of garbage i have ever had the misfortune to use. WHY OH WHY did I leave TalkTalk
    I have tonight tried your solution. Fingers crossed that this works.

  • Device is connected to to a wifi network but does not have access to Blackberry services over wifi connection

    please help me, my blackberry curve has been working perfectly fine (everything network and wifi connection are working great) since i got it but all of the sudden when i connect to our wifi at home i noticed that the wifi logo on the upper screen is grayed out. i checked the manual and it says: device is connected to to a wifi network but does not have access to Blackberry services over wifi connection. i dont  know what to do, i tried the hard reset (removed batt for 1 min while phone is on and put it back in) i also tried to remove the wifi profile and added it back up but still nothing seems to work, my service provider has BB services available on my phone, i can received BBM, pushed email, use FB on my phone using my network but i cant use my wifi to browse.. what should i do? help me please!

    With a PC, the Windows Firewall and/or the anti-virus software will sometimes block an attempted Internet connection.
    Check both applications to see if you can find a "blocked" item and then take steps to "allow" the connection.
    If still no luck, temporarily disable the wireless security for a short period to see if the PC can connect that way. If it can.....then you know it is security related issue.
    See if the PC can connect using a setting like WPA-PSK-TKIP. The equivalent Apple setting would be WPA/WPA2 Personal.

  • Updated to 5.1 this weekend and lost wifi connectivity on iPhone 4 and Ipad 2

    This weekend I updated my iPhone 4 (AT&T) and iPad 2 (Verizon 3G, wifi) to 5.1. Since the update (went flawlessly), I have been unable to connect to wifi networks anywhere. All that I get is the continuously running circle that shows it is trying to connect (but never actually does). I have RESET all Network connections numerous times, did the 'Forget this' connection on everything, etc. They will no longer connect to places that I have always connected to (Home network, CLE Airport, Hilton, Work, etc...). I can connect to all networks fine with my laptop and blackberry, but I just get the constant connection circle with my iPhone and iPad 2. Can anyone offer any other advise?
    I have tried:
    1. Reboot (Soft)
    2. Reboot (Hard (Home and Power button)
    3. Forget WiFi connection
    4. Reset Network Connections
    5. Tried 6 different Wireless (wifi) networks that I have always been able to connect to with no luck.
    6. Airplane Mode with wifi on...
    7. Turned 3G off...
    Desperately awaiting some assistance, I do not have cell connections in our facilities or the hotel, so basically have a useless device right now!

    I have the same problem with my Ipad 2 16gb WiFi, I bought it in US on march (I don´t live in US) I returned to my country and updated the IOS to 5.1.
    One week ago the wifi signal dissapeared, I get the continuously running circle that shows it is trying to connect too.
    I tried to reset it, to restart it, I even erase all content and settings but the problem continues.
    As you can imagine an Ipad without internet connection is useless, I have opened a case in Apple Technical Support.
    All I want to do is to return it
    The question is if It will be possible to replace it or change it by other apple product. I will go to US again next month.

After some time the properly configured WiFi connection will be dropped, which results in connectionless devices. The WiFi AP is disabled after this, and so a timed reconnect will not succeed.

    That really shouldn't affect it.
    I'm a little stumped because I haven't seen this issue with this device before. The only similar issue I found was this, and it's unresolved.
    Have you tried doing a hard reboot of the Slate 21?

    You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
    Your router may not have given your iPhone a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the "i" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
    Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPhone (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
    If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc.

  • I am unable to connect to Face Time with WiFi connection?

    I am unable to connect to friends with Face Time.  There business premises has WiFi they connected to each other to show how it worked.  When I tried to connect 
    One after the other neither would connect to my iPhone 4.  I tried again from my home with my WiFi connected but still no connection possible.  Spoke to my network operator they explained it is nothing to do with network contact Apple.

    This problem is getting me down - Blue Jay headphones work perfectly with every other device and computer we own but cannot be found by our MB Pro (late 2011).  This same MB is very difficult to pair with 2 other Bluetooth devices - taking several attempts each time and providing poor sound quality.

    From the home screen, touch the applications tab (located at the bottom of the display). 
    Touch Settings.
    Touch Wireless & networks.
    Touch Wi-Fi settings.
    Touch Add Wi-Fi network.
    From the Network SSID field, enter the appropriate name then touch Done.
    From the Security field, touch the drop down menu.
    Touch the appropriate security option.
    If presented, enter a password into the New and Confirm new password fields then touch OK.
    None
    WEP
    WPA/WPA2 PSK
    802.1x Enterprise
    From the Wireless password / WEP key field, enter the appropriate password / key.
    To view the password as it is being entered, touch Show password (enabled when a green check mark is present).
    Ensure additional settings (e.g. Peer to peer network, password type) are configured appropriately (if applicable) then touch Save.
