If it only took an hour then your battery probably wasn't fully drained or your phone was switched off. Charging time varies depend on the condition of the battery and the charger used. It also charges more quickly if the phone is switched off during charging.

Yeah, I have to say I'm not satisfied with the power usage on this baby, at all. Sure it has 2 cpus (see specs), sure nice graphics, camera *with slash*, bt, wifi, etc .. But as soon as you start using these features, and god forbid you forget to say switch off your wifi scanning off or the like, the phone just starts turns into a power drain.
I find myself on many occasions reaching for the phone just to find that it has starved itself and turned off.
My previous phone was Nokia 9500, the ol communicator. Bulky, ugly brick, by nowdays standards, but I'm still impressed with its power management. That phone even now with old battery, still lasts for 3 days of good usage.
I'm not saying those phones are really comparable. N82 is obviously your whole multimedia system & more in a pocket.
But I find that features-to-power-usage/management on this phone forces me to always stay close to power sockets.
Battery needs in N82 needs a thorough overhaul given the phone is feature loaded. Lets hope with firmware fixes whether Nokia is able improve the power management and increase talk time & standby time.

  • N82 Battery problem when using Micro SD card

My N82 normally will last a couple of days on full charge however when I have my microSD card inserted the battery life reduces to about 4 hours.   It is a type 2 sandisk card, can anyone help with this?

Just hold down the Menu button to see if any applications running.
It might be an idea to upgrade the firmware with Nokia Software Updater as that version on your N82 is original one upon release, but if network branded device may be limited.

  • N82 battery problem after update to firmware 30.0....

I Have my n82 since August and after the update the battery live it´s only for one day. Any idea why?
PS. Before the update the battery live was normal.

here are the test. If i play N-Gage non stop on v30, n v20 firmware. On v30 firmware the battery after 1 hours n 30 odd mins it will say battery low then battery bar will go backup to 3 bars lol. then after 20 more mins it will die out. Where as v20 i can play ngage non stop for about nearly 3 hours. Do remember ngage games with sound n display brightness is at the lowest. Both on each n82.
    What I have found...
    V31 - Battery not good
V30 - Battrey acts weird saying battery low then it goes back up to 3 bars lol. mysterious charging lol
    V20 - Battery just great
    V11 - Battery rubbish

  • N82 battery problem

I usually charged my old 6610i every time the 'battery low' alert comes on..

    please help..
PS.. I usually keep my phone on during charging.. Maybe offing the phone may help.. i haven't tried that out yet.. will sure do that in the next charging session..

  • N82 battery life getting worse

    Hi
I've had a black N82 for about 3 weeks and over the past few days noticed that the battery life is getting worse.
I charged it one evening last week and within 24 hours it had fully discharged. Over that time I did not take or receive any calls, send or receive any texts. I kept WLAN scanning switched off and played a small 30 second clip of video once. For about half of the time the phone was in a strong 3G area.
I recharged it again and within 18 hours I had 3 bars left (this time I had used WLAN for about 10 mins and sent a couple of texts). Left on "active standby" overnight (as usual) in a wek 3G area it had discharged by the following morning.
For the first two weeks of ownership I have been able to get much more use out of the phone between charges. I have not changed the useage of the phone since I owned it but I now find I am charging it almost once a day rather than once every 3 days.
Am I doing anything wrong? As I live in a weak 3G area wondered if I am better of switching off 3G and if so how I do so. I think I spend about half the time in a strong 3G area (at work etc).
    Any advice gratefully received.

Have you installed any 3rd party applications recently? That could explain why your battery performance has got worse.
I once installed a screensaver on my old N80 and whilst it looked fancy it pretty much killed my battery within half a day's use. As soon as I removed the application the battery performance returned to normal, which for the N80 wasn't that brilliant anyway
    Just a thought.
*EDIT* I just had another thought, do you have your N82 paired via Bluetooth to a PC running PC Suite? This will also run your battery down rapidly as the PC Suite software will initiate a BT link automatically whenever the phone is in range and has BT activated. This will also kill a battery much faster than normal.

  • Battery backup is getting worse in my N82

    Hi all,
I have used my N82 for 3 months now. earlier the battery used be alive for 2 days at a minimum. but nowadays i must charge my cell atleast once a day to its maximum.

    Hi arunkumarscts
You might like to download this application to your device:
    http://www.forum.nokia.com/main/resources/user_experience/power_management/nokia_energy_profiler/
It will at least give you an idea of energy consumption on your N82. You are also quite fortunate in that mine hardly lasts out the day with minimal use, although two hours per day of Bluetooth connection to a Nokia CK-300 carkit must take it's toll on the battery.

  • N82 new battery not working as expected

    Hi
I bought a new N82 BP-6MT battery. Now I see when the battery drops 1 bar from full, it skips through all the other bars and goes to only 1 bar remaining! This happens especially when I use a power hungry application, like games or GPS navigation.
Is there something I can do about it? Is the battery faulty?

Make sure you have a look at our Pool of Knowledge article regarding that subject:

  • Want to Save the battery more on your N82?

Simple, Knock off the 3G in:
    Settings >>
    Phone >>
    Network >>
    Network Mode >>
Knock this to GSM and not dual mode
This will increase your battery life, obviously if you use 3G alot don't bother, but how many people do?
    Hope this helps.

I've done this on my last 4 phones.
I always disable 3G on all of my phones because of the weak O2 3G signal at home and work.
It's also a good solution to connection errors and random reboots.
Obviously it's not a good idea to disable it if you use a lot of data or make (or receive) video calls.
These figures may also be of interest:
Talk time: up to 190 minutes (WCDMA),up to 260 minutes (GSM)
Stand-by time: up to 210 hours(WDCMA),up to 225 hours (GSM)
Still images: up to 290 pictures (with flash)
Video capture: up to 110 minutes (VGA, 30fps)
Video call: up to 120 minutes
Video playback time: up to 200 minutes (VGA, 30 fps)
Music playback time: up to 10 hours(offline mode)

  • Poor battery on N82 Black

Hi my N82 was really good on batt for first 3 weeks but now barely lasts 6 hours standby time! It seemed to coincide with some sort of symbol/icon which came on the front screen by the battery symbol. Its a X shape, almost like flower or propellar shape. Does anyone know what it is/means and/or if it could affect battery life?
    Thanks, keith,

    Hi Keith,
I have a similar problem with N82. I noticed that my battery wouldn't last out the day and only had it four days. Not even been using it properly yet because my other contract is still running.
I read this post and checked ut my connection manager. Although WLAN scanning is off when I opened the connection manager I noticed that every 30 seconds or so it would attempt to establish a connection to a hotspot, a few seconds later it disappears because it cannot connect as that is my works wireless lan connection. I now watched it for about 10 minutes and it continually trys to connect. Its not in the WLAN list because obviously it not available and I can see from my log that its being trying to do this for the last few days!
How can I stop this from happening because it isn't listed anywhere - it just seems to remember I used that connection once!
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Higher capacity battery for N82?

Hi, wondering if there are batteries available for the N82 than the 1050mAh BP-6MT battery?
Just now I've got an unmetered internet package, use the bluetooth more and regularly listen to music on my n82, I can run out of battery within a day!

Phones are designed to work with the battery they ship with and no others.
You may find a battery from an alternative manufacturer that has a greater capacity than the original Nokia battery, but you are exposing yourself to risk by using it. Many of these so-called compatible batteries are in fact manufactured to shoddy standards and seem fairly prone to leakage and even explosion in some cases. Quite apart from the health hazard, any damage to your N82 caused by such a battery would immediately void the N82's warranty.
The best solution by far is to purchase a second BP-6MT and carry it around charged. If the one in the phone does go flat, no worries. Just switch the phone off and replace it. When you get home, charge both up.

  • N82 10 hours Battery

My N82's battery started giving me problems and I replaced it with a new one bought from Nokia for 10kd (about 40 dollars) three days ago.
    Now the problems are
1- It takes atleast 6 hours to recharge.
2- It doesn't say 'battery full' unless I turn my phone off and recharge it.
3- The first point of the battery lasts for about 8 hours*total idle. The rest last for about two hours or one 10 minutes phonecall.
There are absolutely no applications installed apart from whatsapp, the bluetooth is permanently off, and so is wifi (search and connection both off).
Should I take my battery back to Nokia centre for replacement? Or is it a general problem in all N82s? In that case I'll have to get another phone because 10 hours is just impossible to live with.

Certainly not normal behaviour. You could install Nokia Energy Profiler from here just to see what current is being consumed:

  • N82 low battery life

Hi, I have had a Nokia N82 for about 2 weeks and noticed early on that the battery went flat after about 24hrs. Over the weekend I loaded about 400mb of music onto the memory card and since then it goes flat in about 12 hours. (poss coincidence?)
Could there be any applications that are constantly running (GPS, WLAN etc...) that are causing this or just a duff battery?
I'd be grateful for any advice.
    Many thanks in anticipation,
    Mark

I have finally fixed my problem now and it was definitely the wireless thing as I had changed all my other settings to minimise battery use.
Even though I had disabled WLAN scanning and reduced its power setting I still had entries every minute or so in my call log trying to access my WLAN which was saved as I had used it before.
In the end I deleted this WLAN and all saved WLAN's from my phone and the problem stopped as it no longer appeared in the call log.
I can now say that my battery lasts for days at a time rather than about 24 hours.
This should solve your problem if.
I dont have any problem as you mentioned here but then also my battery stays for only for 24 hrs (less than 24hrs if used constantly) Any solution?
Please reply for my posts also! Thanks in advance.

  • Bought spare battery for my N82... isn't performin...

Basically I bought a NOKIA BP-6MT battery off of Ebay from a UK seller with very high feedback and it seems to last about half as long as my battery that came with the phone. Mild (1/2 hr) Sat-Nav usage in addition to very light day usage takes off around 3 bars whereas with my original it takes off 1 max! I charged the new battery for around 9 hrs but it still performs very poorly in comparison to my original.
The packaging appears genuine... and it has a similar holograph to the original (though a slightly lighter colour)... is there anyw ay to tell if this is genuine or not, or is there any other reason for this awful performance? I was not exagerrating when I said my original battery that came with the phone performs twice (or even more) as good...

Thanks for the info, I hadnt seen that page yet. Well... the hologram on mine doesn't look as good as the original battery I have (which is obviously the same as on your page), and the hologram colour is much lighter, not the brown colour of the original. Are Nokia batteries different shades of hologram, or should they all be murky brown?
Either way it seems like a fake... the battery only cost £7 overall and they are much more expensive online in retail stores so maybe I should have researched better. What's worse is the seller is no longer registered and he had over 12'000 feedback too... i'm usually so careful with Ebay... *sigh*
