N82 camera noise

just curious when you are about to take picture does it make noise or it works without noise as though it is adjusting lens.

tongue is too confused on what to speak

I think you'll find that all Nseries devices (if not all Nokia S60 devices) give out a small beep once the autofocus has locked onto the subject (and the viewfinder frame goes green).

  • In-camera noise reduction

This question is directed to the technically knowledgeable out there and has to do with in-camera noise reduction settings. Although I'm shooting with a 1D4, I would guess the same would apply to all models. In a nutshell, is in-camera noise reduction (assuming it's enabled) applied to RAW files or just to JPEGs? If it's applied to RAW files (which is all I shoot), have any of you shot RAW with noise reduction disabled, and if so, how were the results? I tried to do a search here on this topic but was unable to find any information. Thanks.

No, with all due respects, it is Long Exposure NR. Why would it make it worst with High ISO if it is "High ISO Noise Reduction".
    6D Manual page: 128 - 129
5D Mark III manual page 144-145
"Images taken at ISO 1600 or higher may look grainier with the [Enable] setting than with the [Disable] and [Auto] setting"
With Auto setting, camera will not do LENR if the ISO is higher than 1600.
I've tested this and it's give many kind of artifact with high ISO from time to time. Others it just gives more noise.
    Hi,
    - Great to know, thanks! It's very surprising indeed.
LENR is supposed to remove hot pixels and noise due to long exposure. It's (sadly) surprising the in-cameras LENR may be worse than in post...
We'll take a review about it , since shooting long exposure at higher than ISO 1600 is not uncommon for astro photography.
I think 5D Mark 2 didn't have this "problem". Will check that too.
    - The manual tells that in-camera High ISO NR applied is lower at high ISO than the NR that can be applied in post, not "worse", sorry, my mistake.
    Thanks once again.
EDIT: The User manual of 5D Mark 2 doesn't tell anything about this matter. The manual of 7D does, as well as 6D and 5D3 as you mentioned.
Since I used to work with 5D2 I didn't realize the 5D3 could be different. Or at least the manual of 5D2 doesn't say the final result of LENR at 1600 or higher could be worse. Good thing to keep in mind.
Sitll doesn't understand why the result "may" be worse, the 5D3 has enormous computing potential with the Digic 5+
This seems to only affect if  LENR is set to "ON" / "Enabled", not to "Auto". Very likely a more agressive NR is applied in such case.
    We'll carry some test indeed.
    EDIT 2:
In just brief tests with the 5D Mark 3 we found some inconsistency on the results between setting Long Exposure NR to "OFF", "Auto" & "On".
We set High ISO NR, Peripheral Illumination Correction and Chromatic Aberrations to OFF, to see only the effect of LENR in JPG (not RAW yet).
This camera (5D3) applies High ISO NR even when you set it to OFF (very noticeable in video mode).
At ISO 6400 we didn't see a hot /stuck pixel (even when LENR set to "OFF") that appears at ISO 3200 when setting LENR to OFF or Auto. Of course "ON" deletes all hot /stuck pixels, but also increaed grain.
We all already know that the more the sensor heats up (shooting and shooting long exposure stills - or using Live View for stills or video), the more noise we'll get in the pictures (and video).
So far we couldn't get a "rule". Sometimes the "Auto" works better than "ON", it seems it depends on the selected ISO value and how hot is the sensor too.
I pesonally don't understand WHY the LENR delivers more grainy images when set to "ON", if the NR is more agressive the grain should be finer than in "OFF" or "Auto", so it doesn't make sense...
We'll test the 5D Mark 2 to compare with 5D3 in this regard

  • Camera noise on my macbook

just now, i was online as usual and heard the camera noise like a photo was being taken.  it didn't include the countdown tones from photobooth so i'm wondering if i've just been hacked for the first time and what suggestions are there for security.

If the green light next to the camera lights up, SMILE! You're on Candid Camera!!
Note that the camera is just another service the OS provides to any app that needs it. Skype, MSN Messenger, FaceTime, to mention a few, are apps that use the camera as well. Heck, I  even have a movie cataloguing app that uses the camera to grab the barcode off the box to expedite classification!
So, if you hear the click, be sure to be wearing clothes, Facebook can be a nasty place.... And you will want to audit what apps are running (as well as what webpages too, IIRC at least one of the FB online apps can take a pic too!). BTW, if the camera clicks, so can the mic be on as well.
For the camera, a bit of electrician's tape can work wonders. For the mic? A vow of silence??

  • Does LR store the in-camera Noise Reduction settings in it's Metadata?

I am trying to understand the impact of in-camera noise reduction on High ISO images. To do this I have taken a series of pictures with different in camera Noise Reduction settings. I have then imported them into LR. What I want to know is whether I can see the in-camera Noise Reduction settings in the metadata stored in LR?
    Thanks

If it's proprietary to the camera maker, you won't see it in LR. Won't most of that in-camera stuff be stored in the MakerNotes? If so, you can see the sort of info via Exiftools - see an example here http://forums.adobe.com/message/6155513#6155513

  • Digital Camera Noise Removal?

    Hi,
I'm a long-time Paintshop Pro user and have decided to switch products because Corel really hasn't done much to improve on PSP. In PSP9 there is a one-click feature called "Digital Camera Noise Removal". It cleans up the grainy look from digital camera noise, etc. What's the equivalent in PSE 5?
    Thanks.

Because digital noise is very specific to a particular camera, to do this effectively you really need a tool that knows about those characteristics.
However, PSE does have some filters for this - like Reduce Noise.

  • N82 Camera Fault Please Help...

    Dears:
I recently bought N82 Middle East version, from I2 dealer in Jordan with 2 years guarantee.
I noticed a severe victory fault in the camera.
A huge amount of green and pink noise filled the LCD and appeared in the token films and photos too.
Some times this noise disappear or decrease after a while of using camera.
Now I’m in Syria and I asked I2 dealer to replace my mobile with a new one if it was a hardware fault, because I don’t appreciate the idea of repairing my new device. It wont be new any more.
Is this a software or a hardware issue?
Do you have an advance information about this fault?
I would appreciate a quick replay.
    Thank you Very much.
    Regards,

Not to sure mate, i thought it could have been app's running in the background.

Hello, I've had my N82 for about 6 months, Every time I try to turn on the camera the symbol that shows the flash is charging comes up but the camera never comes up. All I see is a black screen. • N82 camera release button not working

    Hi,
It seems that the camera release button on my N82 has stopped working. When I press it nothing happens - netiher halv-way or at full pressure. Hence the camera doesn't focus either.
    *#0000# gives me:
    V 31.0.016
    09-12-08
    RM-313
    nokia N82 (03.01)
    What can I do?
Assign another key to be the the camera release button?
    Will resetting the phone work?
    Any other suggestions?
    Regards
    Erling

Got it... but then I lost even more.
The reason why the camera release button wasn't working was because my SDHC had become corrupted. Long story short I got it formatted using the panasonic SD card formatter... and runs a could of checks to ensure it's healthy....
Then I took it to my Nokia phone to format it but here it FAILS!
SInce then the card seems toast. It's not recognized by my phone(s) - it's not recognized by my PC. Not in XP nor in Ubuntu....
    Sad!

  • Camera noise reduction

Hi I've just got a new iPhone 6, and i love it. However, I've noticed that what i see in the live view before i snap a photo, and after i snap, is totally different.
It seems apple's new noise reduction is a little too strong for my liking.
reuslting in a huge loss in depth and color and details.
On my iPhone 5, i used to be able to take really close up photos of my shrimps, and they looked fantastic. extremely detailed for a phone camera.
I expected this to be better on the iPhone 6 because of the new lens system and overall camera and phone processing power.
unfortunately, this is not the case.
The videos are better because the phone doesn't seem to apply any Noise Reduction filters after it is recorded.
can apple have a function to switch off noise reduction entirely? I would love to be able to choose.
also, please allow manual control of the camera settings! like VSCOcam and such. thank you!

  • Turning off camera noise?

is it possible to turn off the click noise(like a camera flash) my iphone 3GS makes when i take a photo... without turning phone onto silent????

Remember that in some countries, such a feature is illegal to prevent 'inappropriate use' of a camera phone without the camera subjects realising it.

  • Camera Noise Help Needed

When recording music or stage presentations with my Canon DV, I get a mechanical hum in the audio. It sounds like the camera is recording its' motor noise. Does anyone have some advice for getting rid of the hum? I have played with the audio filters but I really don't have a good grasp on their uses.
    Thanks fo any help.
    Joe

    Hi(Bonjour)!
Try to isolate the frequency of the hum for your camcorder.
I found that the Hum-Filter in audio filter folder work well for me.
Sometimes, an external audio editing app like Sound Studio or Audacity can do a better job.

  • Camera noise..in the dark...

    Hi
    lets do a test...
    bring the camera up
    put to superior auto mode
Now go into a dark room (best to do at night with lights off)
Now what do you see... if its lots of purple snowy effect down both sides
Then this is pure noise of the camera shown to you.
Now then how do you get rid of this noise
    go to manual
go to settings and change the ISO to ...well anything....
the noise in the dark will go all together apart from ISO 3200 it will start to come back
so what would you say is the noise in superior auto?
A higher ISO that we can not use in manual?
here is the thing tho ...in manual as soon as you choose `any` ISO the image stabilier switiches itself off...?
So is the noise to do with the image stabiliser or a higher ISO we cannot use in manual mode...

rictv_me - I don't feel insulted You are right another time.
Higher ISO speed = more noise. That's the way digital sensor works (it's called grain on analog film). You can compare it to sensitivity to the light, but there must be any light anyway.
Even professional DSLRs can't shoot without any light, because light makes a photo. In image stabilization mode phone sets ISO automatically to be speed enough to capture the scene without making moved photo. And it is digital process, so there is no way to use IS with custom ISO, it can't work this way.
When everything have failed already, try to read the manual.
Kudos mean I am helpful. Am I for you? Then support me back

  • N82 Camera Fw 30

Hi everybody my N82's camera wont work anymore after software update from v20 to v30 if i open the shutter nothing happens if i go to camera in the menu the little camera opens what is this a software bug? i tried to reinstal the update but nothing still the same problem is this common and what can i do about it soft reset, hard reset or take it to nokia care center.. a little advice is appriciated thx anyway
    Nokia Lumia 1020 + Sony Xperia Z1
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's not a common bug in this version but you will need to reset your phone to get it to work again. Because of UDP reinstalling the firmware won't cure this issue.
Back up everything you need to keep then try the codes in order. If the first code fails to fix it then try the second then third.
Reset to factory defaults (*#7780#) : Restores settings but preserves user data (photos, 3rd party apps etc)
Reset (*#7370#) : This reformats completely the C: drive. All applications and files stored on this drive will be lost and clean default files will be rewritten.
    Hard reset:
    1. Switch off the phone.
    2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
    3. While holding these buttons, hold the power button for a second to switch on the phone.
    4. Release when the phone shows the nokia hands logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
It may take a few attempts and very flexible fingers.
If that fails to solve it then something has gone wrong with the camera so take it to a nokia care point.
