N82 Nokia Maps v2 upgrade

Hello i was wondering if anyone else has experienced problems with the v2 of Nokia Maps ?
A couple of days ago i downloaded v2 of the maps to my pc and then to my N82, everything seemed to be ok,updated the maps, purchased a years licence and i thought that was everything done !
When i activate the navigation for a route it just freezes on 'Calculating Route'!??!and goes no further and is really anoying as i cant use the navigation and have payed for a years licence !!!!!!
anyone any ideas ???

Hi beefy122
You didn't mention whether you have just updated N82 firmware to v3.0.0019 at the same time in which case there may be a need to check Assisted GPS default access point.
As grayburn has suggested use the "delete existing maps" option in Nokia Maploader v2.0.2 prior to downloading your regional maps.
Keep us posted if still experiencing issues here.

    Yes you can

You'll need to install new maps via map loader though as the old maps will not be compatible.

  • N82 | Nokia Maps | Firmware

Hi everybody! I am new on this forum, so don't slaugher me...
Ehm, as you can see, I own a N82. When I press *#0000#, it tells me that I have the firmware: V30.0.019.
I've heard about that many other N82 users have the V31.... firmware. But when I check the Nokia sites on my phone, it says that the V30.0.019 is the newest firmware for my phone... Why's that?
And another thing; one of my buddies also have the V30.0.019 firmware (same as me), but his GPS (Maps) is version "v2.0 wk32 b04", and I have the "v1.2 wk48 b01". In the summer of 2008 I remember that I had that version on my phone, but I have no idea why I have the v1.2 now. Anyone knows why? And how can I get the newer version? I really like the newer version better.
Aaaand another thing. I have a problem with the Map Loader.
I tried to install the Loader (again today), and the first time I clicked it, it worked perfectly! But the second time after I downloaded it, the same thing as before happened. It seems that it works like one time after installing it, and then it doesn't. Why's that? Anyone can help me? Here is a little video about my problem (remember to have the annotations on YouTube ON): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=py0f5kBdUh4&feature=channel_page
It works like a charm on the other computer in the house, but not on the laptop. I have no idea why.
I love this phone! I just want to "fix" these "problems" I have.

    Hi timbuktu
Apart from the need to backup essential data, a "three finger reset" as described in Paragraph 45 FAQ to Nokia Software Updater here may well do the trick:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4577229#faq45
and by reverting to the original firmware pre-installed version of Nokia Maps it is a satisfactory point for upgrading to later ones albeit v2.0_4503 or v3.0Beta

  • Nokia N82 Nokia Maps Freeze!!

3 days ago i bought my new nokia N82, And when i run Nokia maps application after i close it the mobile freeze!!!
The Store from where i bought it has given to me 3 other N82 mobiles and all of them had the same problem!!! I believe that all Nokia N82 that are for sale in greece had the same problem with mine cause one of my friends bought Nokia N82 from another location in greece and had the same problem
Is there a way to fix it?? or i have to hope that the other phone the store gives me will work?

first did you check for the latest firmware for your phone? there also might be an update for your maps, try that and see if there is any difference if this does not change anything then try :
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default ( you will not lose any data)
Make sure you back up your data as you will lose all of it when you perform option 2 or 3 on this list.
    *#7370# - Reformat your phone
This you perform as a last resort. Nothing else is working. Turn off your phone, hold the following buttons while pressing the power button. (the default code is 12345)
re-flash - hold the following buttons *, 3 (number button) and talk/green key. turn on the phone and do not release those buttons until you see the Nokia boot up screen.
If these codes are not working the only thing for you to do is contact your Nokia Care Center/Service.
You know what I love about you the most, the fact that you are not me ! In love with technology and all that it can offer. Join me in discovery....

  • Nokia N82 nokia maps problem

I've bought my new Nokia N82 about 2 days ago, and have already got a problem which bothers me a lot.
Basically whenever I open nokia maps, it freezes the whole phone.
I can't even turn the phone off, so have to take the battery out to restart the phone again.
The phone has got the latest firmware on it so not really quite sure what to do.
Is it possible to reinstall nokia maps. If so, could someone let me know how.
    If not, any other solutions.
If this has been answered anywhere else in the forum please let me know where it is
    Cheers

  • N82 Nokia Maps update fail

    Hi,
I have a problem with my phone. The phone was turned off by mistake during Nokia Maps update. Nokia Maps do not work at all now. When i push button "Maps", I don't get any reaction. Nothing happens. Could you please give me a piece of advice, how i can to reinstall Nokia Maps or something else? I was trying Nokia Maps Loader, but it did not help me...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try reinstalling it using the same procedure you used whe updating. If this works fine but if it doesn't then you have to reinstall the previous version and then try updating again.
Because Nokia Maps is embeded in the firmware, to reinstall the original Nokia Maps version, you have to reinstall the firmware. To do this, you have to use the *#7370# reformat phone code. Before reformatting you need to backup all data in your phone because your phone will be wiped.
After reinstalling the firmware, you will find that you are back to the previous version of Nokia Maps. Now try updating again. After you successfully update, delete the "Cities" folder on the memory card, use Nokia Maps at least once. Now finally you can use Map Loader to download latest maps.

  • N82 Nokia Maps Favorites

    Hi,
I just bought N900 and want to transfer my N82 maps favorites to N900. I tried going around different options but could not do it. Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi, the latest Ovi Maps version for N82 enables you to synchronise your favourite to your Nokia Account (A common account that enables you to sign in and use most of the online services from Nokia, particularly the Ovi services, which Ovi Maps is one of them). Do you have a Nokia Account?
This enables you to bring your favourite online and sync to any other phone that supports them. I am not sure if N900 has this option in its version of Ovi Maps?
    was: 3310--> N80 v5.0719.0.2--> N82 v31.0.016; now: 5800xm v40

  • N95 v12 and Nokia Maps.

    Hi.
I made a "mistake" just after I got my N95 and updated the Maps program. Not the entire firmware since it's not avaliable for my phone yet, just the maps program.
Now I've understood that I used to have the tracking feature before I updated, I don't have that now.
If I run the 12.0.013 update again, will I get the original version of Maps with tracking back?

    The King of KINGS!

    Hi godzilla12
You might have to try other method of hard resetting which is "the three finger reset" as detailed in second part of Paragraph 45 of FAQ to Nokia Software Updater here:
    http://europe.nokia.com/A4577229#faq45
Unfortunately I would not suggest trying to install Nokia Maps v3.0 on your N82 as I found on my v30.0.019 that although application would run on a newly formatted phone as there is then sufficient memory, the available maps currently are lacking in detail in rural areas compared to those of v2 and are inadequate for my needs!

  • N82, nokia maps2 strange problem!Delete maps

    Hi,
I'm italian and I have a great problem with Nokia maps2 and my n82.
I have install application (nokia maps2) and I use it first time with my wi-fi connnection. I install nokia map loader 1.3.8 download my Map(Italy) and all is ok.
When the application start all is ok, I see the map and I can navigate. Close application and after 2 or 3 hours I restart tha nokia maps 2 and the map is not visible.
Browse my memory card and I see that the diskcache folder is empy!!! Why??? But if I check the memory capacity the free space is always the same.
I try to format my microSd but nothing. I try to reinstall nokia maps 2 but always the same error.
I try a lot of time but I don't have any ideas...
What the problem? My microsd? I have to reset n82?
    Thank's,
    Mattia

    My best guess would be:
Restart or if you prefer the hard version - Reset phone.
    Format memory card.
Install maps application (the version you prefer eg: latest) to the phone.
(I found that the latest firmware upgrade still gives you the latest .V1 version.)
Download map-loader to your(or your friend's or stolen computer)
Download and install maps using your computer to your phone using Map-loader via usb file transfer connection.
Take someone to pizza or Lenticchie di Castelluccio with your gps.

  • Upgrade Nokia Maps with Linux

I don't use Windows. Is it possible to install latest version of Nokia Maps 3.0 on my 6210 Navigator with Linux? I mean where can I download sis file? Then I can transfer it on phone via USB or BT and install.
May be I have to buy Windows to upgrade phone software?

    Hi,
The Nokia Maps Updater is currently only compatible with Windows Operating System (XP and Vista). This would be the main method of updating to Maps 3.01.
On some devices (e.g.N97) Maps updates are available via the Software Update application in the Device Menu. It might be worth checking if you have this available. (note that this requires donwloading data over the air, and so to avoid costs it is recommended to connect via WLAN)
The .sis file is not available as a seperate download for Maps 3.01
An alternative is to download the Beta version of Maps 3.03, however please note that Nokia Care line cannot offer support for beta products. If you are interested please check out http://betalabs.nokia.com/ovi-maps

  • N82 turns off with Nokia Maps

My N82 turns off several times when I start applications like Nokia Maps. How can I resolve this?

    Hi hugo_q
Apart from need to backup essential data first, I would have suggested reset to "factory settings" by keying in *#7370# followed by 12345 (default Nokia lockcode unless altered by yourself) and then install latest OVI Maps version from here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/product-support/maps-support/compatibility-and-download#/nokia-n82/
As these older S60 3rd FP1 devices are shorter on phone memory it is usually best to install just after carrying out reset. You did say in first post that applications like Nokia Maps caused issues so perhaps it needs a clear out. Also assuming here that you have v35.0.002 firmware installed.

  • Nokia Maps Upgrade and Traffic Alerts

My Nokia maps has started unexpectedly trying to pursuade me to upgrade , when in fact it seems it really might mean I think pay and re-authenticate. I think the software runs really well on my E71 but will not pay another £70 to keep using it. I might if it was an well needed upgrade, but what I have is great.
But what really irritates me is that a month or two back the system talked me into taking a years entitlement to traffic alerts which are somewhat dumb
( it doesn't take cogniscence of where you are being guided to other than in the list order, the alerts are out of date like all alerts in the UK radio/internet/road signs etc. and it doesn't even have the intelligence to realise that you are going north etc. when if gives you a pointless southbound alerts )
but what really irkes is they took a years worth of money for alerts on a software package with a month or two's lifetime. I would be happy to continue using the current version and not pay for the upgrade. Any solutions out there to continue using the present version and not take the upgrade ? ora route to take to get a refund on the alerts ?

Nokia do things the opposite way around to most sat-nav providers, instead of charging upfront for the software and updates, the software (which can be used for things other than sat-nav as radical says) is free and you buy a licence for sat-nav use to fund continuing development of the software.
Your phone came with a free trial - all GPD-equipped Nokias now have 3, 6 or 12 month free trials in most markets (the period depends on the model - 12 months for high-end phones like the N96,6 for Navigator-branded models like the 6210 and 3 for most others). I changed to Nokia Maps from the Windows-Mobile software "Destinator" because updates were getting hard to find. Nokia does at least keep its software up to date, and it is fast becoming a great package.
As for the traffic updates, these are dependent on the source information, and these services are still pretty much in their infancy because few people use them at present. The Nokia Maps application relays to you the information that it receives from third parties. As for your contention that it took a year's money for a short-life package, this is down to you. Why did you accept a year's subscription to traffic updates if you were not certain you would renew the navigation licence? It was your decision.

  • Nokia Maps 3 doesn't install on N82 v31.0.016

    Hi,
I tried to install Nokia Maps 3 with the Maps Updater. It loaded, downloaded the software, and reached the point that told me please install in the phone. The phone promted me to install the application, paused and wrote that it can't be installed because it is an internal application...
Can anyone suggest something. I have the Greek firmware, but i don't think this is a problem..Every other app and the maploader installs successfully, including earlier updates of Nokia Maps application.

Maybe you should post your query at the link below as i think you might get more of a response there, no one from Nokia graces this board.

  • Special characters issue with Nokia Maps on N95

    Hi there,
when using Navigation in conjunction with Nokia Maps on my N95, all streets and towns which contain any special character in their name (for example: é, è, ü, ä, ö, etc…) do appear as unreadable garbage on the screen of the N95.
I only noticed the problem after having purchased the 3 years license Navigation upgrade (EUR 99.99) and immediately notified Nokia. That was back in October. Since then I have called them at least 10 times and ultimately I have asked for a refund as no solution is still available.
In all these calls with Nokia, the only reasonable argument I heard was that maybe (!!!) the new software update version 20.0.015 released back at the end of November could solve the issue. Unfortunately, for my phone (which is a branded one) the update is not yet available.
Today, after calling them again, I was told that Nokia’s policies do not foresee refunds and therefore my request has been rejected. I was told to bring my phone to a Nokia Store and see if they can help me (I don’t see how). I was also told that maybe I would have to send-in the phone for repair.
This is soooo frustrating that despite the 3 months of patience and all the money spent for the N95 (not quite cheap), the navigation upgrade and the phone calls to Nokia, I still have the same issue. I will probably end up filing a complaint with a monthly consumer’s magazine in the hope they will publish my story.
After all, it may not even be Nokia’s fault but rather the guys who are responsible for the maps, but if Nokia accepts to have a commercial venture with a vendor, than they also accept liability for the joint product. And by turning down my legitimate request for refund, they have proven not to give a **bleep** about people like you and me.
Forgive me for the long post - needed to release some of the frustration...

I have been using an N95-8GB since Nov.'07. From my experience with this phone that has a built-in mass memory besides the phone memory. I had trouble retrieving some of the softwares I have installed. For eg. I have saved some themes in the mass memory & I could not find it when I want to delete it. There are some 3rd parties games software inside where I cannot even delete
This is what I don't like about the phone. I have bought an N82/Black recently as it uses an external memory card.
Coming back to Nokia maps. Personnaly, I don't think they are that good & I have problem downloading it into my phone from my PC after having downloaded it from Nokia.
By the way the Nokia map is not even the latest map 2.0. Is still a 1.0
I used Navfone map software & it works OK in the 8GB. You have to purchase it.
    I have used a couple of N-series phones in the past ie. N-90, N-70, N-71, N-73, N-80/Black, N95, N-95/8GB & now N-82.
Common with all N-series phones. After you have disconnected when you are done with your call you have to wait for a while before the word "disconnected" disappears.
The more features it has, the more problem you are gonna to encounter.
Unless you want to download softwares into your phone & have a good camera thats where the N series phones come in.
For normal usage, a 40 series phone will suffice.
