N82 wlan problem

I can't connect to any public hot spots..i dont have a wireless router at home so i can't chek if i can connect to one..its annoing mainly because when i bought it it was working smooth..besides this problem i LOVE this phone ..if anyone knows how to solve it ill be gratefull..ty

As the Wlan function is embeded in the firmware, the only thing you can do yourself is to reset your phone.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
First try these
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
If this doen't work, try this.
*#7370# - Reformat your phone

  • WiFi (WLAN) problem - in the same room a iOS 5 device connects, iOS 6 not

    Hi all,
I won't say that it's a proof for the iOS 6 WiFi/WLAN problem. BUT, it's evident that my iPhone 4 with iOS 5 sees all WLAN-networks and connects - my new iPad with iOS 6 doesn't! And I'm using the two devices in the same room. In addition my new iPad didn't have connection problems before updating to iOS 6.
Apple Software Engineers - please help and release the next update to fix it

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

  • Logic remote wlan problems

    Hey, guys,
I'm experiencing connectivity problems when trying to connect Logic Remote with an iMac running Logic Pro X. Both in the same network of course, all other apps requiring to connect the iPad with any Mac in the network work very well, internet is fine etc. Seems Logic remote connects for a second, than it disconnects again, saying WLAN is weak or unreliable (which isn't the case), sometimes no connection at all. All operating systems up to date.

I also had this WLAN Problems and solved it:
1.) Try to remove all controllers you added earlier (also Logic Remote) under setup..
2.) Restart Logic an Logic Remote -> This should re-add Logic Remote to your Controllers.

  • ANOTHER NOKIA C3 WLAN PROBLEM

Ok, I'm not able to choose wlan or gprs internet but untill I was trying to open the Internet via WLAN tel says 'service not available''.'' activating default in all applications'' does not work, simply because it's getting back all my options from WEB and I''m connecting the Int via gprs again. What should I do? any ideas? maybe it's all about my router or so? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

    Hi, this is Paulo Bral™,
I recently got an Nokia C3-00 mobile, and I faced so many problems with Wi-FI connection of this phone that I decided to share my experience with you guys.
I am going to write here the definitive guide to fix all WLAN problems you may encounter (and this is something that not even Nokia Support was able to do) - are you ready?
First of all, I am assuming you have the knowledge about Wi-Fi networking (SSIDs, Channels, Security, and all the terms related to setting up a decent Wi-Fi connection), second, you need to have full acess to your router, as we will configure everything from the ground, third and last you will need a tool called InSSIDer from Meta Geeks (Google it) to perform diagnostic tasks explained below.
    Analyzing the networks around you
First off, you need to spend some time running the tool InSSIDer on your PC to collect data from Wi-Fi networks around you as they may be the cause of your connection problems. We will use these 2 visualizations: "Time Graph" and "2.4GHz Channel" to monitor the networks around - if you dont know what you are doing, better close this page and start running away.
    Configuring the router
After collecting data from the networks around, now it's time to set up our router. I found out that I have other 15 networks around me, and I found out here that most of them were using Channel 6, the same I was using. Also some of them are using the Channel 9 and 11. In this case, I set my router to use the Channel 1, as nobody were using it and it is also far away from other Channels being used. After some time collecting data, you will be able to see which Channel has no user or less users, and you must choose it. The security of you WLAN is your choice, as it does not have any side effects. I suggest using WPA2 as it is the most secure of the 3 this mobile supports. BTW, don't ask me how to configure your router, ask Google for it!
    Testing WLAN connectivity
Now it's time to test WLAN connectivity with your reconfigured router. Try opening some pages, try watching YouTube videos... If your mobile is working OK, with no connection errors or timeouts, your problem was only the interference caused by networks around. But, if you still experience problems like timeouts or errors opening pages and YouTube videos, you need to continue to the next step.
Using router QoS and Static IP
If you have an very fast internet (10MBPS+) you will need to slow things down, as this cell phone does not really support fastest internet speeds, now you have to know your cell MAC address, make it use an Static IP, and configure QoS to reduce the downstream speed on the cell phone IP to 3MBPS max speed - BTW, not all routers supports this, if yours don't support it, get another router, I recommend Cisco or LinkSyS.
    Still having problems
The above steps solved my problem for a while, as the phone were working a little better with my Wi-Fi, yet I experienced some timeouts and errors opening pages. Now the next step will require a PC connected to your network and this will reduce to ZERO the timeouts and errors opening pages.
Keeping the Connection Alive - for bad routers
If you have a generic (not Cisco or LinkSyS) cheap bad router, you will need this step! I noticed that even when the cell phone were showing the Wireless icon, the LED indicating Wireless on my router was not always turned on, so I understood my router was like "ignoring" the cell phone connection and just stopped responding to its calls. To fix this bad router behaviour, you will need a PC connected to your network, and prepare yourself to laugh: All you need to do is "keep pinging" the cell phone IP as this will keep it connection alive. The simplest way is to create a .BAT file with these 3 lines inside:
    :autoping
    ping <cell phone IP>
    goto autoping
Now save it on your desktop, use anyname.bat as you wish - now run it and connect your cell phone to the WLAN. You will notice the difference, as it will work so stable like if it were connected using LAN cable!!! You will never have connection problems again!
Well, that is it, following this guide your cell phone will never have WLAN problems again (well, at least on your WLAN).
    Best regards,
    Paulo Bral™

  • Possible N82 WLAN Defect?

Having just got my shiny new N82 I've tried to get it connected to my wireless network. I had some problems getting it to see the access point.
It seems that although I've specified the settings correctly and set the Network Status field to "Hidden" it still wont find it unless I turn on the SSID broadcast.
I have had some awkward devices that need this to be turned on when they were initially configured, but the N82 will actually lose the connection as soon as I turn it off again.
I've tested this with two different models of access points and get the same behaviour with both.
    Mobile Device:
    v11.0.117
    10-12-07
    RM-313
    Nokia N82(68.02)
    Access Point 1:
    Netgear WG602v3
    Firmware v1.2.5
    Encryption: WPA/PSK
    Access control by MAC enabled
    Access Point 2:
    3Com OfficeConnect Wireless 11g Cable/DSL Gateway
    Firmware v1.02.15
    Encryption: WPA/PSK
    Access control by MAC enabled
I don't know if my N82 firmware is up-to-date. I haven't tried updating it since I'm running Vista and waiting for the NSU issues to be resolved.
    Cheers,
    Barry.

This has been an issue on many nokia smartphones. It's possible that it was fixed in the v20 firmware update as it did include some WLAN tweaks.
You should try to get your phone updated. Do you have access to a friends XP machine?
Some people have said that the updater works on vista if you run it in XP compatibility mode. I've not tried it myself and it's entirely at your own risk.
Just out of interest does it work if you change the security type to WEP?

  • N82 wlan won't stay disconnected

    Hi
In my block of flats there is a public wifi server that you can connect to the internet through. i was told it was free, but when i connected on my n82 i found that you had to pay, so i gave up.
Now, whenever i'm at home my n82 (black) connects to this router even when wlan scanning is off! drains my battery really quick! i've tried disconnecting but after a few seconds it connects again automatically!
How do i stop this from happening? It's so annoying as drains my battery really fast.
Any help would be much appreciated
    James
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

problem resolved - ish - go out of range of router. go to tools > settings > connection > access points and the delete the offending access point. have to go out of range in order to break the connection

  • N82 wlan

i have N82 . and i also have wlan connection but when i try to access it from my mobile it does nor get connected and the error comes"web:nogateway reply.please help

Hi, I'm using N82 and had same problems before, but now have found the solution after fiddling with all options available on phone. I just hope this can solve your (and everyone else's) issue(s) on this subject. But if it fails, then I'm afraid I cant help any further (as mine is OK).
PROBLEM: It used to be that whenever I had free WIFI coverage, my N82 discovers WLAN, it refuses connection when opening browser by responding 'no gateway connection' etc.
CAUSE: My phone was actually trying to open browser under 'default' connection settings, which in my case was my home WLAN AP.
SOLUTION: Open web browser (and stop process if required), then go to Bookmark manager and select 'Edit'. Here, WLAN connection is set via 'Connection' or sumthing, where its normally set to 'Default'. Now change this to 'Ask me manually' or something (Sorry-my N82 is out of battery right now so cant find the exact words). And trying again at WIFI areas should be A-OK!

  • N82 WLAN and Bluetooth Headset

    Hi Guys,
    I have two problems:
    1. I have a Nokia Bluetooth headset HS-36W and my Nokia N82 does not seem to detect it. However, my Nokia 7610 was able to detect it and I was able to use the headset. Is HS-36W not compatible with Nokia N82?
    2. I tried using WLAN but was a failure. The connection was open so NO user ID or passwords were required. Error was WEB: NO GATEWAY REPLY. Others using a laptop was able to access the network. Is there any problem or is there something required from me to do?
    Appreciate your advice.
    Many thanks!
    SW: 20.0.062

Check your positioning settings first: what is your access point there, and what is your positioning server address? The access point should be a GPRS access point, defined by your service provider. Write down your default positioning server address and replace it with supl.nokia.com that usually works well. If it won't, you can always return back to your default server. Usually the server is automatically correct on N82.
You can't use WLAN connection for the Assisted GPS and most likely also WAP is out of the question. You'll need to use a GPRS connection in order to get the current satellite status without waiting outside for several minutes. If you don't have a GPRS data subscription, you're out of luck. Contact your service provider for this.

  • GT70 2PC - WLAN problem

    Good day,
I recently bought a GT70 2PC with the following specs:
    processor: i7 4810MQ 2.8 GHz
    RAM: 8GB
    graphics: Nvidia GTX870M
Ethernet: Killer e2200 Gigabit ethernet controller
WLAN: Killer Wireless-N 1202 Network adapter
    The problem:
I connect to the internet via wireless. When I play specific games I experience lag spikes (latency not FPS). Specifically League of Legends. I experience 30 ping constant, and then every 1-2 minutes it jumps to 500+ for 2-3 seconds and then goes back down. It is extremely frustrating. I tried playing Diablo 3 and didnt experience this, so I think it might possibly be specific to League of Legends. Just to note again, I have 100+ FPS constant, its not a graphics problem.
    The troubleshooting ive already done:
This is not an issue with my fiber optic internet connection. I connect the laptop via ethernet cable and then the problem doesnt occur. I also used to play on my old laptop on the same internet connection without the lag spikes via wifi. I game far from my router so getting a cable is not a good solution, I paid an arm and a leg for this laptop I should be able to play on wifi if I want to. This also cancels out that it may be any other software causing the issue, its a fresh install in any case.
There is a sticky post called How to fix issues with Killer Lan/WLan. I followed the steps and currently do not have the Killer software installed, I only have the drivers installed. However, this did not help at all. I did this procedure 3 times out of desperation. Did not work for me.
I contacted MSI support. They told me to update my graphics drivers after I made it clear this is a latency issue. (I updated the graphics drivers the day I got the laptop in any case.). I responded to there feedback but they are taking long to get back to me, I am really hoping someone on this forum might be able to help.
I checked resource monitor and also used software called Process Monitor to log all CPU and network usage while I was playing. The lag spikes were not visible in this data to my knowledge.
I tried toggling bandwidth control on and off when I still used to have the Killer software installed.
    My thoughts:
The fact that there is a post about people having issues with the Killer WLan makes me think that the wireless network adapter (or its drivers) are definitely the problem. However, after trying the fix in the sticky post and it not working makes it feels quite hopeless at this point. I do have the latest drivers installed. I feel like my only option is to wait for new drivers to be released and just hope that its fixed in the new drivers, but who knows how long that will take. Im thinking of sending the laptop back to where I bought it from but if this is a known issue affecting all laptops, id probably have the same problem with a replacement. Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Svet,
Thanks for the link but unfortunately it did not solve the problem. According to device manager the driver version has gone up to 10.0.0.287, but the lag spikes are still exactly the same.
Further, I installed a game called Day of Defeat, to test if this is a problem specific to League of legends or if its a general problem. I have the lag spikes in Day of Defeat as well so its not game specific.
Do you think it could be the Killer Network software causing this? Again I tried with bandwidth control on and off. Is there any way I could get these drivers without the Killer software or do you have any other possible solutions I can try?

As it seems that BT Home Hub 2.0 has a "Draft 2.0 802.11n" (pre standard) WLAN access point functionality it might be worth looking into your Home Hub's WLAN settings (look into routers documentation how to access it's configuration, usually you need to login with PC using a web browser) and seeing if there is an configuration option available that would allow you to disable the 802.11n support.
Typically most 802.11n WLAN access points and routers allow WLAN their radio to be configured to either (a)/b/g/n or (a)/b/g wireless modes and if you switching of the "n" functionality might significantly improve your routers interoperability with 802.11b/g devices (such as Nokia 5800XM).
In case you are not able to disable "n" completely (i.e. b/g mode) then take a look if there is an option to choose between 20MHz and 40MHz WLAN channel width and set it strictly to 20MHz (instead of to "Automatic" or 20/40MHz).
Sometimes also switching your WLAN network to another channel might help as well as ensuring that there aren't any external devices nearby operating on the same 2.4GHz frequency band (other WLAN networks, Bluetooth devices, cordless phones etc.) that might be causing interference issues.

  • Nokia N8 WLAN problem

    Hi all,
Sorry if this has already been covered!
I'll keep it simple....Nokia N8, had it connected to my home broadband router yesterday no problems, disconnected it overnight and today when I go to the 'WLAN wizard' section (in settings), it shows my router as a known network, I go to connect and it says connection failed and goes back to 'known network'.  As far as I know I haven't changed any settings on my phone since I was connected to it so not sure why this is happening.  Grateful for any suggestions!

    hi,
I've got exactly the same problem.
*I tried changing my routers wireless security settings from WPA to WEP which temporarily solved the problem. Then all of a sudden it starts failing to connect.
*Changed it to no security, didn't work
*Tried disabling power saving mode, didn't work.
Called up the Orange customer support and they advised me to stay away from this phone as its seriously faulty, and that was from 2nd line support (not first).
if anyone has any other solutions that might work please let me know.
