N85 bugs/wishlist for future updates!

Hi.... just wanted to post some bugs and wishlist(necessities) for the next firmware upgrade....
1) Show date and time the message was sent when you read a message in the message screen instead of having to go to details.
2) Repair/Update the multimedia menu because my video submenu doesn't work and doesn't detect the videos i have(strange because the nokia video player detects and plays it),
would be nice to have a reset/repair/refresh key for the multimedia menu. Multimedia Menu is basically not functioning properly and needs to be updated because otherwise its just a useless key...
3) Update Realplayer to support 'continue watching movie' from where we stopped it, like in the default nokia video player.
4) Option to manually add/remove standby screen items like wlan, calendar, search, etc.
5) Fix restore factory settings because you can't create new profiles after you reset to factory settings....
6)  Change the Download menu to Ovi store(1 only) because I have two icons, one shows 'Store' and the other 'Ovi' and are the same, don't know why.
7) Install Nokia Photo Browser as the default photo browser instead of having to use the app separately.
8) Fix keypad lighting because it gets screwed up sometimes and doesn't light up when i'm messaging.
9) Improve the volume of the music player. Why is Nokia6151 louder than my mobile >.<!
10) Free navigation on nokia maps for N85 without any bugs(heard there are some in E55)
11) That all the above are fulfilled!!!
Thanks in advance....
P.S. Please guys post your bugs/wishes and help in improving the device firmware.....

Sometimes it doesn't show my other access points except WLAN when i want to use the net or check for updates..... It's very annoying.... Oh and for godsake make smileys built-in instead of having to install the app.(i know there's AnimatedSMS, but its very irritating if u want to reply to a message through the reply option, since there u can't use smileys unless your friend sends a message with smileys )....

  • Palm Pre - Email and Other Bugs/Issues For Future Updates

Great phone overall, and glad to see there is a support community.  Couple things I noticed that I wondered if other users know of fixes to:
    - All emails lose line breaks, in that all previous replies are smooshed into one long run on sentence including title block
    - Email notifications don't disappear when action is taken on PC
    - Be able to delete emails and contacts from the phone without deleting from PC
Other issues not e-mail related, but not sure which forum to post under:
    - Cut and paste shortcuts with launcher button don't work (which is why I had to retype all this)
    - Cut and paste doesn't work on text you didn't type such as web content
    - Add URL entry box to browser menu, or a button for it directly on screen (similar to back button)
    - Alarm clock set for weekdays doesn't shut off on weekend
    - Snooze and dismiss buttons should be moved further apart
    - Alarm clock made part of online backup (late for work the next day when I exchanged my phone)
    And most importantly:
    - Use cattle prod to get Adobe to release FREE Flash plugin app for browser and make sure to beat Apple to it!

#1 should be to fix the "Next Sync in 0 Minutes" bug with the email. I have the issue and tried everything under the sun so far to fix it. I'll be calling palm tomorrow to see what they can do, however in my research I have found dozens of people posting this issue online, and there are only temporary fixes that work for one sync.

  • IPhone wishlist for next update

Hi, anyone knows where to send a wishlist for the next update? :-D
I recently bought an iPhone - I am very happy with my choice, and also the update to 3.0 is very good. But I have 2 things I really wish for.....
    1. Be able to change sms tones without jailbreaking
    2. Hear the sms tone with headset attached - when I get a call the sound goes via iPhone speaker, but when I get a sms the sound goes into my headset?!? Strange behaviour

That is normal behaviour. The things you describe are not really important to most people. Not much chance of Apple doing it. We have the great 3.0 and people are still not happy. If you want those things you described, Get a NOKIA.

  • Is FF V17 update compatable with Mac os x 10.6.8 and where can i find this info for future updates?

I got caught out once after an upgrade on a previous vers of Mac OS X when FF ceased to work so don't want to make the same mistake!

hello Caznco, yes firefox 17 is compatible with your OS - you can refer to www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/17.0/system-requirements/ (for future versions you'd have to exchange the version number in the url).

  • My Wishlist for WebOs Update 1.4.5 - ALL REASONABLE AND Somewhat EASY.

I just bought a Palm Pre and I love it far more than any windows or blackberry phone I ever had and far more than my old iphone. Its also, in my opinion, more of a draw for me than the android is.
And I am sure that even though I am posting this, many users have mentioned this and Palm is aware. But I figure I could voice my opinion and hopefully make these things more of a reality than not. Now basically the options I added would help me to work better with my Pre. But there are some items that just need to be there which are in almost all smartphones these days. I put two ** next to those items. The other stuff would just make my life easier as well as other peoples lives and would put the pre ahead of the competition. I know most of these can be used by adding patches. But its a hassle to have to add them and then remove them everytime an update comes along. So for now, I say go ahead with the planned 1.4.1 WebOS update. But I do think that by 1.4.5, it should have these features.
    So here goes:
    Contacts:
    *Support for LDAP Syncing
    *More than one photo
    *Add  videos of the person
    **Categories
**Better search including the ability to search for categories or in general even in the notes.
*An option to link Contacts to their spouses and children.
**Add more options for anniversaries and dates and such and have it show up on the calendar automatically.
*Ability to add a different video and or photo to each type of phone number.
**Ability to Jump to a letter or category.
**A sorting feature to sort by companies, phone number, last name, first name, address, etc....
*Ability to add a middle name as well as a Maiden Name.
*Ability to add more than one note and child.
    Calls:
*Ability to customize what details are shown on the call screen, such as what phone number they are calling from, multiple photos or even a video of the person.
**Ability to see Received calls, missed calls, placed calls along with a duration and timestamp. (I know some of these are there already).
*Add a fast dialing system for the first digits 1 through 0. Basically you can assign a number to speed dial. Holding that button will allow the speed dial to dial automatically.
**Before dialing from Missed calls or contacts, let it ask you if you want to call. Dont just call right away.
    Verizon Specific:
    **Support for Visual VoiceMail
    **VZ Navigator 5
    *Vcast Videos and music
    Calendar:
    **Ability to search calendar
**Ability to see colors on month view.
*Year View - This is possible. I have seen this on other devices with smaller screens.
*Ability to add a contact to the Calendar Event.
    *Attachments from the calendar.
    Messaging:
*Changing the theme of the IM screen.
**Seeing the character and page count as we type
*Automatically changing to MMS to add Video, sound and pictures.
**Ability to beam messages and conversations.
*Ability to not only view as conversations, but also individual messages.
*IM logins for MSN, MSN Live, ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, Facebook.
    Camera:
    **Add support for Panaramic view
**Add support for digital zoom in and out using the volume keys and multi touch.
**Add an option for Shutter Sound
**Support for Face recognition and light detection.
**Ability to set the resolution of the pictures and videos being taken.
**A menu option for all of this.
*Add features for Focus and Exposure.
*Image modes such as Black and White, Watercolor and other colors.
**Scene modes such as Landscape, portrait, Sunset, Dusk, Night time and Action.
*After taking a photo, let it come up with an option on if you want to save or discard the photo, while it shows you a preview of the image.
**An option to add the photo video to your contacts, facebook, google Orkut, Twitter, MySpace, photobucket and others.
**Ability to send as MMS after taking the photo/video along with an option to resize it to MMS size quality.
*Timer so that the camera can shoot after a specific time.
*An option to add backgrounds and scenery.
    Browser:
    **iPhone Spoofing.
    *Ability to send page link
**Ability to remember passwords and logins
**Ability to type in a new web URL while on any page.
    Messaging:
    *Smiley faces
    Device Settings:
*A setting where you can tell it to never shut off if its plugged in. This way the device is always on while being plugged in.
    *Led Notifications.
    Launcher:
    **Ability to add new pages
**Ability to set how many items are displayed per row
*Ability to have page tabs and either name them or go by number.
*Ability to change launcher background or make it transparent.
**When moving an icon around, can there be a way of doing a cut and paste on the icon, rather than dragging it across screens? One option would be to hold your finger down, it cuts it, then goto the page you want to move it to and click on it and it gets pasted.
    New Features:
    **An on screen Keyboard
**Many if not all apps and features should support the accelerometer, landscape/portrait and instant flipping.
*An option to control the transitions when flipping with the accelerometer.
*On the launch bar, add an IM icon since a lot of people use that more than the E-mail Icon.
*On the launch bar, Add a speed Dialer contacts view which would display 15 contacts by photo and you can click one to dial.
*An ability to start with the launcher opened or with just a background,
    Title Bar:
**Date and time with day of the week: Day of the Week mm/dd/yy hh/mm/ss/am-pm: EG: Mon 2/12/10 11:13:05AM
**Put the percentage of the battery next to the battery icon.
    Music Player:
    *Add an option for bookmarking.
**Add a scrollbar to move to a position in the song.
*Ability to create your own playlist.
    *Ability to find Lyrics online
*Basically whatever the music player remix can do.
    Bluetooth:
**Ability to sync with other Microsoft devices.
    Volume Settings:
**Add from loudest to quietest to Vibrate to no sound at all. I miss the vibrate option on this phone as a setting.
    Enhancements:
    **Better battery life
**Faster loading (Even though I think it does well already)
    **Bug fixes.
    Possible features for programming:
    *Support for Allegro
    *Support for LUA
*Support for OpenGL (If its not supported currently)
*Support for QT (If its not supported currently)
    *Support for AngelScript
If anyone wants to add or agree, go ahead. But please use the same format as I just did. Thanks for listening Palm.

Holy crap your asking for a lot. Some of it I certainly agree with, but, some of it frankly would appeal to too few users or is so much beyond what the competition is offering in the price range that I wouldn't hold your breath. That said, you asked for a few things that are already there that you were perhaps either unaware of or maybe don't function the way you would like them to (in which case be more specific.)
**A sorting feature to sort by companies, phone number, last name, first name, address, etc....
-There are some sorting features available. When in the contacts main screen, press the menu bar and go to preferences. The top option labeled "List Order" is a sort function. Available options are "First Name," "Last Name," "Company & first name," "Company & last name."
*Ability to add a middle name as well as a Maiden Name.
-If you tap the menu bar while editing a contact you will see an option for "Name Details." This will bring up a screen with fields for Prefix, First Name, Middle Name, Last Name, and Suffix.
*Ability to add more than one note and child.
-Not sure I understand the need for multiple notes, but each their own etc... As for child, the field is labeled "Children" I'm not sure why you need anything more than to separate multiple childrens names with a comma. Just curious as to why you want an individual field per child (not judging, just curious.)
*Add a fast dialing system for the first digits 1 through 0. Basically you can assign a number to speed dial. Holding that button will allow the speed dial to dial automatically.
-This is already there. When viewing a contact (not editing), press the menu bar. Second option down is "Set Speed Dial." Once there Palm has done you one better than 0-9 by offering you nearly every key on the qwerty keyboard. Caveat, best as I've been able to determine the press and hold only works in the phone app or home/launcher screens.
    *Ability to send page link
-This can already be done. While viewing a web page, press the menu bar, then Page. One of the options is "Share." Selecting this will open a new e-mail with the link and embed a .png thumbnail of the page.
**Ability to type in a new web URL while on any page.
    - Unless the system "carat" is in a text field of some sort at the time. Just starting to type will bring up the address box.
    *Led Notifications.
    - As someone else pointed out, this was added with 1.4.0. It's settings are located within "Screen&Lock" on the 3rd launcher page. I don't know what affect having a 3rd party patch addressing the same functionality would have if you played with the built in settings while the patch is installed.
**Add from loudest to quietest to Vibrate to no sound at all. I miss the vibrate option on this phone as a setting.
    - Not really sure what you're asking for here. Volume keys can get you from loudest to no sound at all. There is also a physical switch next to the power button which depending on what you choose in the "Sounds & Ringtones" on the 3rd launcher page can be either silent or vibrate.
*On the launch bar, add an IM icon since a lot of people use that more than the E-mail Icon.
    - If you're talking about replacing the e-mail icon with the messaging app, you can do this now. It's done the same way you move icons within the launcher.
*On the launch bar, Add a speed Dialer contacts view which would display 15 contacts by photo and you can click one to dial.
    - This can be accomplished by a number of 3rd party apps. Check the App Catalogue.
    Okay onto my soapbox:
    Contacts:
Yes, LDAP is an old and useful early net protocol. But it's also one that has fallen largely into disuse. Not saying you shouldn't use it or like it, but you may be the first person I've seen even mention it in a good 6-8yrs.
I'm not sure why the need for multiple contact photos. Definitely don't see the need for video other than the play with it once "ooh nifty" factor. You acknowledge it's "gimmicky" and then expect Palm to provide it free as opposed to buying a 3rd party app. That's not something that many people are going to want let alone need. If you want it, and someone agrees with you and wants to develop it then you can pay for it. Personally, I'd rather Palm being a smaller company focus its attentions elsewhere including some of the points on your list.
Agree 100% with categories and better searching as well as the need for birthdays/aniversaries etc. showing up in the calendar.
    Calls:
More details would be nice but again I disagree with mult photos or video.
I too would like it to be a little less quick to dial. I'm thinking a press and hold on the screen to dial rather than an additional confirmation prompt. In my mind that would be enough to guard against accidental dialing without being a nuisance when dialing is desired.
    Verizon:
Visual VoiceMail would be nice definitely. However it's support may not be a Palm issues so much as a Verizon (and/or what ever subcontractor handles that for them) issue. No comment on VZNav and Vcast, have never and don't use them.
    Calendar:
Funny thing about the adding contacts to events. The under-the-hood support for that functionality I've discovered is actually there. It seems there is just no way to access it when creating or modifying existing events. I recieved an mms with an event from a blackberry that had persons attached and when loaded into my calendar I was able to see and IIRC even modify attached e-mail addresses (which Synergy resolved to the appropriate contacts in my phone.)
    Messaging:
**Ability to beam messages and conversations.
-Not sure what you mean by this. Beaming used to refer to IR transfers. Pre/Pixi don't have IR transceivers so I'm not sure what it is your asking for.
    Camera:
Panorama wouldn't really be useful. The camera is fixed zoom with a physically determined aspect ratio. All Palm could do through software is crop the top and bottom of the image so that what's left is a panoramic looking image. It would not however be any wider a view than what you would getting taking a landscape oriented photo. Unless of course you mean taking multiple photos that would get stitched together which is another matter entirely.
As for the rest, I think your giving a smart phone camera too much credit and using to replace a purpose built camera. I've occasionally seen one or two of the other requests in smart/camera phones but never all. Being a full on camera is just not what they're designed for. Obviously you can ask, but I wouldn't hold your breath for Palm to add those features. The demand is probably not there among the majority of the userbase and targeted demos for the devices.
    Launcher:
Everything you've asked for is available in PreWare as a patch. I've got several of 'em installed. The code to add launcher pages was apparently already within the OS and the patch merely enables this existing code. So I imagine much of these requests will be officially enabled at some point in a future webOS update.
    Other:
I'm curious, in your follow up post you state that face recognition has been on every other smart phone you've owned. Which phones? I've never seen that on anything other than proper cameras (possible exception may be iPhone 3GS which I haven't played with.) Regardless, don't expect it on the Pre. It's a fixed focus camera so face recognition will do virtually nothing but take up processing power (well could be used for exposure but...)
Not trying to be critical but a lot (but not all) off the stuff you asked for is probably way to niche in terms of the majority of users or potential users for it to be worth Palm to devote resources to over other future features and bug fixes. Some of it might be nice to have (including much of your camera list,) but I'd have to call it low priority since much of it can be done in other ways (off phone) without much difficulty or potentially with 3rd party down the road.

  • 4.4Kitkat Wishlist for new update

I think some of Z1 users experience 4.4 and i would like to ask them to put your wishes for a better change for the next update. I now sony is listening to there consumers.
I would like to see more settings to change like for messaging, screen brightness, wallpapers, fonts, keyboard etc. Those simple things that can't be change in Sony UI i know this could be possible just like those Apple, Samsung, and HTC interface they can change tons of settings if sony could deliver this to there consumers i believe sony will be at the top.
Hopefully someone will listen to this pls put your ideas too...

  • Wishlist for future of Aperture

Ok, so the problems are out there now and are pretty obvious. Now assuming that much of the already discussed issues are resolved what would you all like to see in v 2? (or hopefully 1.1!)
I for one would love to be able to synch my libraries from my powerbook (in the field import and my main library on my Powermac.
a quick compare and import would be great.
Also, Support for Kodak DCR would be nice too. But that will likely be in a system update not an aperture update.
    T

Through this past week of installing and pounding my keyboard I have realized I use CS2 too much in my workflow for Aperture to ever be more than it really is.... iPhoto 6.0
All I would want is for Apple's delivery to match their claims(from http://www.apple.com/aperture)
    --"all-in-one post-production tool for photographers."
--" the most powerful image processing in the world, Aperture is fast "
--"It also supports the Adobe DNG format."
And, they can give up on this one: "the first all-in-one post-production tool for photographers." the FIRST? Ever heard of Adobe? Like Bridge/ACR/CS2??

  • Request for future updates.

Please figure out how to stop changing my desired settings.
Every time you push an update you are altering my save as preferences.
When using CR Save Image, I am able to select my default File Naming scheme, File Extension, File type, Metadata, and Quality level.. But with EVERY update of the software, this gets reset. STOP IT!

Some folks may not be clairvoyant, but I actually do have almost a sixth sense with regard to what other people are saying.
    0.  You posted something difficult for someone who doesn't use Photoshop just as you do to understand, and you posted it in an abrupt tone, as though you're in charge.
    1.  Station_two had a little trouble understanding you were talking about the Save dialog in Camera Raw - or assumed others might have such trouble - and may have felt a bit put off by your tone, so he requested you to try to relax and do a more complete and detailed job of writing up your request.  He provided a helpful link that basically says those things.
    2.  You either didn't "get it" and/or are still upset and are looking for confrontation rather than problem resolution.
Now, as to your original issue...
It would likely be more pertinent for you to ask the Camera Raw folks in the dedicated Camera Raw forum.  The Camera Raw developers hang out there:  http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw
Though I was able to derive what you're asking, you would do well to describe a bit more of the context, and maybe even put up a picture so that everyone knows just what settings you're talking about in what dialog.  Edit:  I see you've done some of that in your most recent post above.
I get the feeling that the saved settings in Camera Raw have a different format each new version, they may be stored somewhere else (or in a different format), and there's some effort to migrate settings from version to version.  It may just be that this particular group of settings has been overlooked, and by asking nicely you might get your wish.  There's also a site for requesting new features:  http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family
Everyone understands that using this software can be frustrating at times, and we all paid the high prices, but just keep in mind that most of the folks here are just other users, trying to be helpful, and people can get offended by a person with an attitude.  It's been proven time and again that using a forceful tone is less likely to get you positive results than being humble and asking nicely.  I've done it too - and it just doesn't work.

here is how they respond to our requests now.
"there's no such plan. Nokia Link is targeted for Nokia N9 users. As you've seen from comments by Pia, for Nokia N9 decision was to use new, lightweight desktop sideloading product."
    and how we thought,
"With the very limited functionality (lightweight?) of Nokia Link it is completely against that what customers want. We bought a high quality device which works quite well OTA but which is almost worthless when a company does not allow synchronizing an Exchange server due to security concerns.
I think Nokia does everything to prevent the N9 to become a very successful phone which sells better than all the announced and published WP **bleep**. This decision which was taken by someone to provide Nokia Link as the only connectivity software for the N9 is absolutely not customer oriented. Nokia was known to produce high quality innovative phones. Unfortunately this time is over."

  • Wishlist for future versions

As it stands now, I don't know how many other locations I'm signed into skype.  I don't know if someone has compromised my password, they are signed in at some other location and they are able to watch my chat.  I would like to be able to know how many other locations I'm signed into and I would like the ability to sign out all locations except the only I'm currently at.

On a whim I decided to go back and check my e-mails again. It turns out that I was mistaken, and I did receive a notice that the topic was removed.
I missed the notice originally because I wasn't accustomed to the different From and Subject content. Looks like I scan my messages too quick!
While I do think these sort of topics should be allowed (or at least, they should have their own space alongside the other Dicussions), I have taken this opportunity to review the Terms of Use and I realize that my topic was in violation. I apologize for the mistake.
Take care, and brush up on those Terms, everybody.

  • Is there an Adobe Edge (code) CC Roadmap that shows Adobe's plans for future updates of Edge?

This is something I'm extremely interested in seeing for this family of Adobe Products as many really awesome projects (namely Open Source) do this so that early adopters and beta testers have a general idea of what is to come. Hopefully someone within this forum or one of you wonderful Adobe employees could guide me in the right direction. Or if such a thing doesn't exist, perhaps it'll inspire you guys to make one!
    Cheers!

  • Suggestion for future update

Assuming I can upgrade to ST 2.0 at some point without losing my custom icons... I just read about a tool called Speed Launch that essentially you give it the programs you need to open all at once, and then one click opens them all. I have several tasks that I open 5 or six things to do, and a single Simple Tap button that I could build to open all of them at once would be incredibly useful. -Michele

You can do that today by writing a .bat file and then pointing SimpleTap to it.  I have attached a sample .bat file that opens notepad and calculator - but you could modify it to do anything you want.  Then, using SimpleTap 2.0:
    1.  Click the "+" to create a new tile
    2.  Choose "launch a program"
    3.  Browse to the .bat file

  • What is the oldest generation of iPad that will still allow me to run IOS8 and allow for future IOS updates?

Buying a used iPad... what is the oldest generation of iPad that will still allow me to run IOS8 and allow for future IOS updates?
    Thanks

An iPad 2 will do it...for awhile. Realize that it's seemingly on it's last legs as far as iOS updates go and performance will not be great enough for today's demanding games. Also realize that a big part of running apps smoothly is how much system RAM (the memory area that the apps actually run in) the device has. The iPad 2 has 512 MB which is adequate for most apps but not for some. The iPads above the iPad 2 all have 1 GB of system RAM and the iPad Air 2 has 2 GB.
The time will come when the iPad 2 can no longer be updated past a certain iOS version (as the iPad 1 is) so it will be more difficult to keep up with apps that you want to be using. This will eventually happen to ALL devices so you'll have to judge if you want to be at the tail-end of iOS updates or at least have a bigger buffer with a newer iPad.
