N85 FM transmitter inactive

Hello,
At first, sorry for my english, I'm french  ;-)
I have a problem with my nokia N85 FM transmitter.
When I want activate my FM transmitter I clik yes on the keypad and the status rest at off.
With my first N85 i had no problem with FM transmitter, it worked perfectly.
But now, it's impossible to activate the FM transmitter, the status rest always at off. I have reinstall the firmawre (v11), hard reset, origin configuration, change frequency, but nothing change, it's impossible to activate.
So please help me.
Thx

The FM aerial is in the battery cover, which can become a bit dusty and dirty.
Try cleaning the contacts (see picture) with the tiniest amount of vodka and a hard pencil eraser - une gomme, n'est-ce pas? I knew my school French would come in useful one day!

  • N85 FM Transmitter problem

Hi my N85 doesn't have any FM Transmitter options on it.

right but where did you get your phone from? if the phone was bought online or some other retailer, they could have sold you a unit that was meant for a region that does not allow it. it does not matter if they allow it in your coutnry, it matters where you got it. what is your product code? usually starts with 05.....

  • N85 FM Transmitter

I bought this N85 in Hong Kong without knowing that the FM Transmitter feature is not included. Now back in the USA, and it is legal to use FM Transmittion. Question is - How can I enable or install this feature to my N85?
    Any recommendation will be appreciated.

  • Nokia N85 FM Transmitter power

    Hi,
What is the transmission power of N85 and covered distance.
Is there any Build in antenna for the trans.. or need to connect
headset. If in build antenna means may i use it for FM receiver.
    Thank you

The FM Transmitter will not work with a headset plugged in. Also the power output has to be limited as you have actually become a radio station. It would depend on your country.

  • Nokia n85 fm transmitter

    I have nokia n85,
I did update it to version 31.002.
fm transmitter is disappear ! and I can't found it

There are some countries which will not allow you to have a transmitter. - Some phones was released with it in one of those countries, and then it was removed with the next update. - I don't know if this is the cause of your issue...
I've also seen a few people with handsets claiming that they have bought it in a country whic allows transmitting, and are in a country which allows transmitting, but still the transmitter app was removed with an fw update. - In this case you should contact nokia by clicking the "contact us" tab on this page or/and contact your nearest Nokia care point to see if they can install a fw version which has it. - You find your nearest Nokia care point here: http://europe.nokia.com/support/repair-and-recycle/repair/care-points

  • N85 FM Transmitter range

Hi does anyone know if it's possible to boost the frequency range of the FM transmitter outside of the standard 87/107mhz? I have a set of wireless phones that normally use a base station with an FM frequency between 826/950mhz and it would be great to be able to use them on the move.
I imagine this is a long shot but reckon it'd make an interesting use of the tech.
    Any suggestions welcome.
    Ludo

No, that is not at all possible. It cannot be modified, even if it could those frequencies are well outside the range that FM hardware could handle.

  • Fm transmitter missing after updating my n85

    Hi everyone,
I've buyed N85 and i was exited about all the features that it brings. Later I've decided to update it's firmwire to get the improvement and i just wished that didn't do that.
Well the problem is when i've tried after 2 days to use the "FM transmitter" it was missing and couldn't find it or activate it
plz i need the solution for this issue. If it was discussed before plz send me the link coz i couldn't find any
    thanks in advance
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

What has most likely happened is that you were sold an N85 that was originally designed to be sold in a country that prohibits the use of FM transmitters.  The retailer will have altered the phones software (details of how are not allowed here) so that the FM transmitter was re-enabled. They should have made you aware of this as it can also affect the warranty.
When you update phones they rightly revert back to the correct software for country it's designed to be sold in.   This will have undone the retailers modifications.
You should take the issue up with the retailer that sold it to you.  You could also try a nokia care point for help but they may not be able to depending on what the original retailer did to it.

  • Helppp n85 problems!!!

I have a nokia n85..it have many problems
1- when I put my mobile in charge it stills rebooting many times!!!
2- the FM transmitter can't be activated!!!
3- and the biggest problem that's my mobile don't read my memory card and I'm sure that it is a problem of software not hardware..
    please what can I do???
    (sorry for my english)

Try a soft or a hard reset.
Factory settings reset. In standby, dial *#7780# and phone's security code (the nokia's default security code is 12345). This reset restores phone's original settings.
Soft reset. In standby dial *#7370# and phone's security code. Soft reset deletes ALL your phone's data.
Hard reset (the three key code/reset). Turn off the phone. Press and hold three keys together, the green/talk key, the * key and the number '3'.Then, turn on the phone and don't let the three keys before you see the nokia hands logo/nokia boot up screen.

  • Nseries and N85 experience

Had a Nokia 6131 until a 6 weeks ago and was convinced by my service provider upgrade to N85.
I'm frustrated and amazed by the actual downgrade in the user experience by Nokia:
    1. The phone comes with no smiley emoticons. Even the the only suggested application for download (Animated SMS), does not provide a reasonable solution, as it's sending animated icons, not compatible with phones that do not have the same application installed.
    2. During call, the phone goes too early to Stand-by mode, which requires pressing a digit twice in order to send a DTMF signal to an answering system.
    3. Calendar - setting a meeting: the default is No reminder, Private meeting, no way to change it.
    4. When sending SMS, there is no "recently used recipients" list
    5. Media player is loosing playlist items during work, needs restart of the phone.
    6. The upper 2 function buttons are very hard to press, often the phone reacts as if the the Multimedia was pressed, when other buttons are actually pressed. No way to disable this button.
    7. There is no option to easily add a large number of songs into to a playlist (check button on a list, or adding a full directory). The songs have to be added one by one.
    8. There is no option to edit a playlist by an external application like OVI.
    9. There is no so scientific calculator installed.
    10. The FM transmitter signal is weak and narrow band - causing low audio quality and much noise from remote stations.
    11. The GPS reception sensitivity is poor.
While the phone is packed with features and capabilities, Nokia has compromised their quality as well as the most important and frequently used functions of a cell phone, resulting not more then a toy - a mediocre toy. Certainly not a tool for serious users.

    Hi yorams,
As you've read, welcome to the world of S60, where no such user-friendly, logical facilities are available.. coz it's a serious phone.
The most common reasons (excuses) you will get will be , it's a powerful platform (which it is unable to handle the simplest of the previous phones functions), it's a new OS which will require at least about 10 years before the bugs are iron out and it will be a great OS for a great phone.
By that I mean, a phone is a phone. Just use it to call and receive. Yes.. there are tonst it of functions and programs preloaded, but most likely only used by certain people ( likelyhood the persons who decided what to put into the phone).
I have a N85, which I ditched for the 5800, which I ditched for the N96, which I ditched for another company's touch phone.
My point being with reference to your points
Point 1) Smileys... I cannot believe which idiot decided that smilies are not necessary. We see smilies here on posts, their discussions etc.. Don't tell me they arbituarly decided that NOKIA users do not use smilies...
Dear Nokia Co.. I guess it won't be difficult to let the users ( we, who buy your phones) decided whether we need smilies like a choice in the menu . You've managed to squeeze in so many duplicate menu items that one rarely use, yet those things that users want, you leave out...  I'm sure you can let the users decide - SMS to have smilies - Yes or No...
    Doesn't that solve a problem.
Of course when you mention the N-series don't smile coz they are high end user phone , does that mean that those Nokia phones that have smilies are for the low end..
     Point 4)
That is because I'm sure the Nokia developers feel that you will only and only will send 1 SMS to one person within 1 week (I assume they have taken a survey while designing their latest powerful S60 UI ).  Thus no recent used list.
The rest of points I can't really comment coz I don't really get to use them... I'm a call and text guy, thus you will see in my thread those are the points I was screaming about..
I feel your pain yorams... Welcome to the agony of the S60 or whatever version.. but I still believe, it's not the platform that created the mess..
It's the People's Touch (by that I mean those working in the finnish company)..

Hi, I also have a new N85. I tried to use the FM transmitter but also without luck. I get absolutely NO NOISE at all. Have tried with different stereos. Nokia must solve this problem or I'll have to make a reclamation on this phone and reclaim my money back.

Please note that the Bluetooth, WLAN, GPS, and FM transmitter antennas are located in the back cover of your device.

  • Nokia N85, and my problems with the Nokia N96

    Hi there,
First of all, i have both phones (after buying the n85, because of issues with the N96), when i go to send a large file from the n96 to the n85 via bluetooth, it wont allow it as it says not enough memory, it seems that you can only send, what free memory your phones internal system has, im deeply confused as the video im sending is over 88mb, and was passed down from my previous nokias without any problems whats so ever, any ideas anybody??????
Secondly i feel a fool, as i bought like i said the n85 because of the problems with the and i quote" flagship model n96".... well, i can honestly say, ive wasted my money, because after installing the newest firmware 11 on it, it has since been running like a dream, albeit like it should have done last month, but i musnt grumble, now i need to decide which one to put on an auction site.
ps the n96 was bought with 3 network, the other from an auction site, both work fantastically well with the 3 network.
    ashton

Hi, beg to differ, I would sell the 96. The 85 is far better,OLED screen; a battery that lasts for days not hours; FM transmitter for when you are in your mates car who doesn't have a bluetooth radio; it breathes!!! is sleeker and of course it has a lens cover, for crying out loud why didn't they fit one to the 96!

  • IF-statement in Personas that is checking if control is inactive?

    Hi,
I have this simple script in screen personas that is clicking the option: "Attachment list". Everything is working great if there is attachments.
If there are no attachments the option is "inactive" or "greyed out". This will result in a script error.
I thought this was going to be an easy fix by adding IF statement to the the script. But howerver I specify the critera for the IF statement the script will always try to click the Attachment list. The condition will simply always be TRUE.
Am I missing something here or is it not possible at this time to script an IF statement that is checking if the control is inactive or similar?
    Best Regards,
    Oskar Söderlund

There is another way, but it will get a little tricky.
Outside of the transaction IE03 you can check for the existence of attachments for a piece of equipment by looking in table SRGBTBREL. Field TYPEID_A will be "EQUI" and field INSTID_A will be the equipment number, zero-padded on the left to 18 characters long. Use SE16 to look in the table and you'll get the idea.
You could wrap this test in an RFC-enabled ABAP function and call that from your Personas script button. Use the return value from that RFC to decide if attachments exist or not and how the script should respond. Details for how to write such an RFC and call it from a Personas script are in this blog: Calling RFCs from a Personas script.
Like I said, this isn't straightforward and perhaps Personas scripting should include an active/inactive test in addition to the exists/doesn't exist test. Until then, however, there is a way if you don't mind a bit of ABAP programming.

    Hi,
It seems objects are locked in transport request. Check the 'object directory entry' for the object and find out the transport request/task under which objects are locked. Remove the objects from TR or release the request and then try to activate.
    Hope it helps.
