N85 keypad light problem

My n85 numerical keypad approximately 5 seconds after the light is off, the buttons on top of the light is on normally, pressing the numeric keys the light side still does not open when you on/off keylock or slide open and close keypad light back normal(on)

it is most probably a bug in the firmware, the only solution to this issue would be to wait for a release of another fimware hoping that this might get solved, tho it does not have to. i had issues with the keypad on the frist firmware but that got fixed since v11....was released

  • Nokia 6500slide Keypad light problem

I am having a problem with my nokia 6500s, the keypad lights with the numbers on will not switch off unlike the buttons on the top((select etc))
Can anyone give me any help??
    Would be really grateful.

    Hi
I have the same phone...8 months old..actually it has been in for repairs 3 times..the new one they gave me to replace it is is for repairs as I type this.
My keypad lights go off after a few hours...whatever buttons I press..the keypad lights will not come on.  Sometimes the delay is 3 or 4 days..but they eventually don't come on.  The only thing that resolves it for a few days/hours is to switch it off and on.
I suggest you take it back to where you bought it.
    Hope it helps.

  • Nokia 6680 - Keypad Light Problem..

Hi can anyone tell me why my keypad light switches itself off while the screen remains bright? Its impossible to text in the dark!

I have often wondered this, mine does exactly the same. I have S/W Vers 4.04.07.
I can only presume that it's some sort of battery saving feature that Nokia have put into the unit. What the unit should do is keep the keypad light lit whilst buttons are still being pressed and then only turn off when no keys are pressed for a certain amount of time.
    Any ideas people???

You could try to hard format the phone. Keep in mind this procedure will completely erase all your phone's contents (3rd party apps, settings, wifi access points, contacts, themes, web bookmarks, etc), so first you will need to backup the phone using Nokia PC Suite.
    Here's how to do it:
Power off the handset, hold * 3 and the Green call button and switch on the phone. keep the keys held until the phone is fully powered up.
It's a bit difficult, precisely because Nokia wants to avoid users accidentally formatting their phones.
Once the phone has been formatted you will need to reinstall NGage (you can download it and install it directly from the phone browser), and possibly some other applications that came with your N85, so I recommend you to first make sure you can get the apps for reinstallation.
I don't know if this will solve the problem but other than the hassle of backing up the info and reinstalling the apps, it's worth a try in case you can not locate the offending 3rd party application.
    Good luck!

  • N85 keypad backlight problem

I find an annoying problem with the backlight, if I power on the phone in complete darkness there is no backlight on the keypad, so I couldn't key in my PIN correctly and will lockup the SIM !!

Just try to reset the factory settings to default.
    A soft reset:*#7780#.

  • When i try to wake my macbook after sleep the keypad lights up but the screen stays black. I have to switch off and restart. How do I fix this?

After my Macbook goes into sleep mode it sometimes won't wake. The keypad lights up but the screen stays black. This problem has only occured after updating to OSX 10.7.2.
All I can do is switch off and restart. Then any programs I have not 'quit' all open.

    OK, I have a fix.
After spending about an hour online with Apple Care without success, I did a reinstall of the Lion OS. It fixed the problem.  I was concerned that I would lose data or settings, but the reinstall was seemless and everything was the way it was before the reinstall except that the "black screen on wake" problem was fixed.
I started the reinstall before I went to bed and it was waiting for me the next morning.
Here is a link to the page on how to do the reinstall:

  • Keypad lights

Anyone besides me have this problem? Whenever I switch from letters to numerals, my keypad light goes out. It only comes back when I switch to letters. What kind of **bleep** is this? If you're in a dark room, you're screwed. It's like using braile.

    Hello,
I think you can try two things : the soft reboot, and if it does not work, the hard reboot. Don't worry, you can't lose data with these two reboots.
    Soft reboot :
    1) Hit the three following keys at the same time :
    - Alt
    - Right Shift
    - Delete
    2) wait 2 minutes for the Blackberry to wake up.
    Hard reboot :
    1) your Blackberry device is on
    2) remove the battery and wait for a minute
    3) Put the battery back
    4) wait 5 minutes for the device to wake up.
Please tell us if it works for you.

  • N95 + keypad light + battery

I dont know my fone is problem or not thus I post it here. My n95 every thing is fine. However, when the battery indicator shows 1 line only, it means may have the notification "low battery", the keypad light some times doesn't work. I mean if I slide up the fone (or slide down), the light which make keypad brighter doesnt turn on. At the beginning, I thought my be the light is faulty, then I tried to make call to my fone, then I can see the key pad light flashing as normal. If my fone is full of battery, the key pad light of course always on if I slide up/down the fone. It only doesn't on if the battery is low (may be on but for few seconds, then off) . I'm wonderring because I dont think the software smart enough to do that saving.
Any one can check it for me? because can't find any around me use N95 to make sure.
    Thx

You can adjust the light sensitivity so that the screen & keypads brightness alters accordingly to the environment it is in.
    Tools> Settings> General> Personalisation> Display>
Light Sensor. I have mine set in the middle of the slider bar so its not too bright in a dark place, yet bright enough outdoors. Its also a fairly good setting for battery life.

    Hi Antonis,
I hope the below can answer your questions:
1- If you are using the Nokia C3-01, then the notification lights is indeed available. You can set it through: Menu>>Settings>>Display>>Notification details>>Set it to Show. At the same time, make sure that the light effects are set to "On". To do so, follow these steps: Menu>>Settings>>Lights>>Lights Effects>>On.
Once you set up the above on the Nokia C3-01, whenever you miss a call or a message, the notification light in the middle will work. It is actually located on the silver colored bar between the green and red buttons for calls. Also, the Nokia C3-01 has a very good battery life. Therefore, it might actually fit your requirements as it is a touch screen phone with a standard keypad for SMS typers such as yourself.
2- As for the E52 and the E72, they are actually both great phones and both of them have the notification lights. You can refer to the previous post for steps on how to set them up.  But from personal experience, the light effects on the E52 is actually brighter than any other phone that i have seen. So, since you are also interested in the keyboard of the Nokia E52 for SMS purposes, I think you should go for that one.
3- However, as far as Blackberry is concerned, I would recommend you to contact them directly for any details or help on their phone's features.
In conclusion, if you wish to have a simple "Old Fashioned" but sophisticated phone, I would recommend you to go for the Nokia C3-01. However, if you wish to have a smartphone with all the above features that you require, then the E52 would be a great choice as well. All in all, the decision is in your hand

  • Nokia N85 so many problems but no responce from No...

I’ve now read lots of complains concerning the N85; loose slider, rebooting, video recording is hopeless and so on. I’ve have for now 12 days been the owner of two N85, and I’m sorry to say, that I agree with the mentions complains. I’ve Nokia fan for years and had own about 8 differenced Nokias and none have been so defective. And worse - no response from Nokia.
I can only recommend not to buy a N85.

Name these supposed Nokia phones that you had that have not had as many problems.
No one here says that the N85 is without problems. It has a few. Your slider issue is well relative. On my N85, my friend thinks my slider is great, as do I but I like the slider on his more, so your statement about the loose slider is more opinionated than fact. The other things are software related and if you know anything about embedded software development (it appears you do not. I could be wrong though), it takes time to write the code, put it on a ROM and test it. It is not a 5 minute fix and in this case I would rather Nokia take a month to fix it right than to rush it and have certain people come back and post that Nokia issued a **bleep** patch. You surely catch my drift. It is quite simple. Look to the upper right hand corner of your web browser, hit the Contact Us button and let fly your screed. I am sure they will hang on to every word you say. But for the time being, give it a rest. We all get it, over and over and over. My N85 has issues that I want addressed but filling up a forum with the same kind of posts is not going to make Nokia work any faster.
P.S. Please name these phones you have had that have no major issues (hardware does not count) related to software (this is easy to fix). By the way, I have had almost every major Nokia device produced, to include the original Communicator. Mine was production model 102, so I have quite a bit of experience with Nokia products.
Your recommendation not to buy an N85 is falling on deaf ears because currently here in Finland and elsewhere, the N85 is doing quite well.

  • E52 Keypad Light LEAKS!!

    Hey,
Bought an E52 this week..of many Many keypad light leaks..the one below the Home key's the worst; you can actually see an LED. In low light situations, this actually gets to you.
This picture is from a Lebanese handset reviewed by somebody at Symbian-Guru..its the same in my Indian handset..
Went to a Nokia Care centre where they showed me a spare keypad cover..I turned it around and there's a HOLE in that spot on all E52 keypads!!
If somebody could please explain the logic behind this...?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gopi A.

I suppose it's not just on the E52 then. The light leakage also occurs in the E72 and many have mentioned this flaw, thinking it's only their unit that has this design defect.
In the E72, it has exactly the same light leaking under the Home key. There's also a slighter light leaking beside the left soft-key and also beside the right-soft key. (probably not as bad as the E52 for the light leaks on the sides of the soft-keys).

My 8520 curves keypad lights don't dim after the screen back lights have switched off. Please help, this is eating my battery life!

Have you tried rebooting the device by removing the battery?
If that doesn't work, have you loaded any 3rd party apps?

  • 6680 keypad lights,help plzzzzzzz

i just bought a new nokia 6680 and with every other phone i've had when you press the buttons the keypad lights up????!but the keys on my nokia 6680 sometimes light up when i press a button and sometimes dont???????? is this normal

In the upper left corner in the front of the phone there's an ambient light sensor that has an impact on the keypad lights and display brightness.
When the phone is in a bright environment according to the sensor, the keypad doesn't light up unnecessarily.
When it is dark[er], the keypad lights turn on.
    Helps conserve battery power.
