N85 making internet connection when starting up

Everytime i am starting my telephone after it has been switched off it makes a connection with the internet. If there is no valid wlan available, it will make a connection via GPRS. I didn't know untill i saw a bill of 20euros for internet. I never use internet via GPRS, so i checked my telephone. It will connect for only a couple of seconds and send 1 kb en receive about 15kb.
Does anybody know what this could be? Or do you have a solution for this? I checked all programs i've installed, but none are checking for updates or whatever.

Have you installed any applications that require an Internet connection or set up mail? If so, the moment you reboot your phone or turn it on, it will automatically try to connect. an easy thing to do is to edit the current Internet profile and put in bogus connection info, such as an IP address of 1.1.1.1 or something like this. You can also create a new profile and do the same. You might also try deleting all Internet profiles. You can also check for apps that need the Internet and remove them.
Simply changing to "when needed" will not necessarily stop the connections because the applications will say: "I need to go to the Internet" and they will still do it. You need to disable the Internet profile.

  • Why does everyone at my work loose their internet connection when I update Adobe Cloud Products?

Why does everyone at my work loose their internet connection when I update Adobe Cloud Products? We are on a 20mb broadband connection and there is around 20 people using computers at my work but when I start my Adobe Cloud Product update or when I try and download my Adobe Cloud Product everyone at my work looses their internet connection and so do I. But the update keeps downloading and installing.

I am sorry FooWingLi but the difficulties you are describing sounds more like a local network configuration issue.  I would recommend working with your I.T. department to investigate this matter.

  • No instant Wlan connection when starting up Satellite L650

    Hello,
I have had connection problems with my L650 Toshiba for the past couple of months.
I bought my laptop a year ago (October 2010), and everything was working perfectly until April 2011.
The first few months, my computer would connect automatically to the internet once it started up.
Since April 2011, my computer takes about 2 minutes to connect to a wireless internet connection when I start it up, whether it is my home connection or work connection.
Once it does connect, the wireless connection works perfectly.
The problem does not come from a wireless router because it happens with all wireless connections. Furthermore, I have tried updating the drivers for the wireless adapter (Broadcom 802.11n) with no success at all.
I would be grateful if someone could provide possible solutions to the problem.
    Thanks in advance.

So what is the problem exactly?
The Wlan connects fine but it takes two minutes until the connection has been established?
    Right?
Well, it could be possible that something is running in the OS background and therefore it takes some time until the notebook could connect to the Wlan.
In my case the notebook needs some time to connect to Wlan because the virus scanner and CCleaner run at the startup and scans the HDD and the system.
After that the notebook connects to Wlan.

I get a message "The Itunes server could not be contacted, check your internet connection" when trying to check for Ipod Nano software updates. I have a 1st generation Nano and haven't updated the software for a while. My internet connection is working. Was thre a change in the internet address for NANO software updates? Do I have to reconfigure something in Itunes to point to the correct address?

What version of iTunes are you using?  The latest is 10.6.3. In iTunes, choose Help -> About iTunes to check the version number. If it's lower than 10.6.3, download the latest version from here.

  • How do i get an internet connection when i am out of range of my pc

hi...i have a 4th generation ipod touch...no problem with internet connection when i am close to my pc...but when i go out and am away from my pc i dont get a connection....... why is this and how do i get a permanent connection.................thanks

Because you iPod requires a wi-fi connection.  It is not 3G or 4G like the iPhone.  As lllaass said, you can get a portable wi-fi source that uses 3G or 4G technology, but there is a monthly subscription fee.

  • 7510e printer loses internet connectivity when it goes to sleep

I own a 7510e all in one printer, I connected it wireless again after having it connected with a USB
cable, I had to do this because my printer loses internet connectivity when it goes to sleep or if I get a power outage, this has been going on since I purchased it last year. I got a new wireless router/modem combo from my ISP server and hoped that would solve the problem but it has not.
I cannot get any apps except for those that are on the front of my printer which are just for small kids. I am now told that this printer has been discontinued and 7520 has replaced it, I do not wish to spend another $200.00 in less than a year for a printer. It is registered with HP connected and I have a Efax # and HP connected address, I did everything correctly but it seems that each time I set it up wireless it messes up my desktop windows 7 home premium 64 bit, cloud services told me not to use  IE 10 but we are ready to download IE11 so I am using IE 10, this time HP support assistant quit working and I could not even uninstall it until I downloaded microsoft fix it and then redownloaded it from HP web site.
If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it, I am not on a home group yet it always tells me I do not have administrators permission to do a lot of things, I am the only user.

    Hi emma22
Here is a document for Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates.

I checked and there is no way to turn off the sleep mode on this model.
I included a document for Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection and to try Solution three: Assign a static IP address to the printer. You will need to get your It department most likely to set this up for you if you don't have full admin rights.

Delete and recreate your settings in the Network preference pane. If you're connecting to a wireless network, also delete the AirPort network password(s) in the Keychain Access application.

  • Timecapsule kills internet/wifi connection, when starting backup?

Everytime my timecapsule start backing up, my wifi/internet connection is killed?
I still see my airport in the top bar wifi logo, but no internet connection
I have to restart timecapsule before i get my internet back
Im on a imac 27" fully upgraded with OSX Lion
    Anyone?

Unless you're backing up more than one device, a Time Capsule is a rather expensive Time Machine device.
That display shows that you're connecting over the 2.4 GHz band, which tends to be slower with an ideal connection, but tends to hold up better over distance and through interferences such as walls.
Is there any way you could connect your iMac to the Time Capsule with an Ethernet cable, at least long enough to run a test of a Time Machine backup.  Before you run such a test, be sure that there's an Ethernet connection item in the list in the Network panel of System Preferences.  To assure that you're using the Ethernet connection, you might also want to turn off the iMac's Wi-Fi feature.
Still another option might be PowerLine equipment.  For less than the cost of an AirPort Extreme you could have near-Ethernet speeds without the need for a cable.

  • Lost internet connection when computer moved only 5ft!

I wonder if someone can help me with this odd problem I've been having. I have a Mac Book Pro that is wirelessly connected to the internet via Airport Extreme. I also have a Roadrunner cable modem hooked up to my TV (in the Living room) and to Vonage (in my home office about 30 ft away). The Vonage phone box is connected to Airport base station (also in the office) and the base station is connected to my PC (also in the office). My Mac Book works fine when it is on my dining room table, but once I move over to the couch (which is only about 5 ft away, but closer to the cable modem, Vonage box and Airport base station), I lose my internet connection, even though it shows that I have a strong Airport signal. Not only do I lose the connection, my Vonage phone box starts to blink (it should be a steady green light), and my phone stops working. My internet connection on my PC also stops working. Once I move the Mac Book back over to the dining table, everything works again (after a few minutes). What could be causing this, and how can I fix it? Everything was working fine up until about a few days ago. I was able to move my Mac Book anywhere with no problem. Now I move it to the couch and everything shuts down! So much for the convenience of WiFi. Help if you can, please! Thank you.

Since you mentioned that everything was "working fine up until a few days ago," do you recall making any changes (hardware/software additions, security updates, etc.) that could have potentialy modified the configuration of your MBP? How about in the environment? Added or relocated any electronic equipment, especially ones, like cordless phones, that operate in the 2.4 GHz band? • I lose my internet connection when i sync iTunes and ATV. Please help

Ive just bought a new Apple TV and I am trying to stream TV shows and movies from my iMac via the wireless network.
The ATV found the right network instantly and I wrote in the password. Ive paired the iMac iTunes and ATV and I can see all the episodes and movies on my TV.
When I want to start to watch any of it, it loses its connection to the router/network. And so does the iMac. I havent had any trouble with the iMacs connection to the network until now. If Im not trying to watch anything on my TV, the internet is fine on both the ATV and iTunes.
Does anyone have any experience with this?
Ive tried to fix the DHCP in my router settings, but im not even sure what that means, let alone if it helps When i lose the internet, I can still see the network name, but when I try to connect, it says that connection timeout.
    I have a D-Link DI 524 router.
    Thanks so much
    Lisa
EDIT: If I exit iTunes my internet connection is fine. As soon as I start it and iTunes starts to sync with ATV, I lose the internet. Anyone know why and how I can fix it?
I forgot to add that WAN settings in my router says that I have Dynamic IP Address.
    Thanks

Okay.. When i stop the syncing between the ATV and itunes, I can watch a movie/TV-show for about 30 seconds, then the network will timeout.
So i know the atv is working. I have a feeling its the router that is too old? I will try to upgrade its firmware tomorrow, as i was told i couldnt to this when connected to wireless?

  • [Solved] How Can Internet Connection to Start Automatically?

I have a fresh install and if I run "sudo dhcpcd eth0" then it works fine, but it doesn't start by itself.
    I tried
    sudo systemctl enable dhcpcd
    but the response was
Failed to issue method call: No such file or directory
I knew how to do this when we had rc.conf.
How do I do it now?
Last edited by CaptainKirk (2012-11-15 19:48:44)

Ah, righto. I was looking at the page but I was stuck on the "Establish an internet connection" section, which actually says dhcpcd is started automatically--I guess that means just for the live CD. I didn't find the "Configure the network" section.
    Thank you.
