N85 update to v30 bugs

hey all, just updated my n85 to software update 30.019.53.1 and i gotta say its a step backwards. i can no longer refresh my library to pick up new music, it wont connect to the net to download pod casts, but the same connection will browse the net ok. It just seems to be a really flaky update. anyone else having the same problems? does anyone know if Nokia are even aware of the bugs in the release? theres alot of articles when you google "n85 library refresh not working" so it seems like a reasonably common occurance.

I agree that it's a step backwards. Slow to connect to home wi-fi (or won't connect - "no gateway reply" ) Won't connect to several InternetRadio stations any more (eg all the GotRadio stations). Overall slower to do anything.
The update said it failed with 1% remaining...appeared unable to re-awaken the phone. Told me to remove battery and USB cable, then cycled again and failed again, but the phone shows the new version

N85 Update to V30

I'm trying to use NSU to update my n85 to V30 but it doesn't seem to be working correctly. During the last 20 seconds of the update, the progress bar stops. Then my phone restarts. Then NSU sits there for a while like it's not done updating (but why restart the phone if it's not done?)
After the phone restarts it looks like it's done and seems fine but the progress bar on NSU is still going. After a while it quits and says "Device recovery.. lost connection with your device... please replug device and click OK" I replugged and clicked OK. The phone goes into "updating mode" again (buttons are lit up and screen is deactivated). Then NSU says "update complete". Wrong. My phone goes into infinite restart mode and can't boot up all the way (shows NOKIA logo, then white screen, then turns off). I hard reset with the "octopus reset code" (hold star, 3, green call button and power button).
Then I tried reinstalling update a few times. Then I tried updating from XP instead of Vista. Then I tried removing the SD card. NSU still stops during last 20 seconds.
My phone claims to have V30 so what the heck. I reinstall update again. When it says "please replug your device" I decided to cancel the update at that point. The phone boots up fine after the 20 second NSU freeze but I'm afraid it may get damaged because it isn't completely updated.
It seems to be working fine so far but I want to get it to successfully update.

Try this.. Uninstall Nokia PC Suite and NSU from your PC and restart it. Now search for "Nokia" and even in hidden folders and delete everything. Now download latest version of Nokia PC Suite and NSU and install it in your PC and restart it again. Now turn off firewall and antivirus software and connect your mobile with PC. Now backup all the data of your mobile using Nokia PC Suite backup utility (for safety, if any problem persist). Now restart your mobile and connect it with your PC using original data cable. Now run NSU and do the procedure as written in NSU. Don't run any application in your PC or mobile. Don't touch your mobile untill "successful update" message appear in NSU. Tell me, it works or not.

Saving\updating issue or bug in C5?

When I update buttons or even text in captions, the changes do not seem to be taking effect after I close the project, so I have to continuously go back and make the changes either on my local mathine or if another developer opens the files from our network. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Typically we use the network drive to store and pass the projects back and forth. I am checking to see if others are actually editing on the network drive. I am experiencing this on my local HD as well, with changes that I made last week not being reflected when I open the file locally today (no network drive involved). I am wondering if this is a cached project issue.

Hi there
From what you are asking it would seem that your mode of operation is to make edits to a project while the project is on the network? If so, that's a pretty awful way of operating and is fraught with issues.
The preferred way of operating is to only edit a Captivate file while it is on your local hard drive. Then if you want it on the network for others to make edits, copy it there. When others need to edit, they copy it locally, edit and copy it back.
This also requires careful coordination so that simultaneous edits aren't made. Then one person saves back to the network and his/her changes are saved, the person number two saves back and blows their changes away and replaces them with the changes they made.
In other words, in this situation, whoever saved last wins. So you need to be very careful about coordinating who is making updates and when so that only one person is making and saving changes at any given time.

Update an existing bug doesn't show the new test run "steps to reproduce" in TFS

Hello all...
So let's say I have a bug. Then I run a new test because I've been told it's fixed. This second test fails. I choose "Update an Existing Bug" and I'm presented with the window that looks like I'm reporting a new bug - all the info is there. I save
and close, go into TFS, refresh...and I all I see is the original bug that I reported, but none of the new stuff I just did. Where is that new stuff? I would expect it to push the old stuff down, and the new stuff I'd see above. My developers get mad at me
because I've moved their tasks back to "To Do" but they see the old bug and complain that it's fixed, even though I have new info to report, they don't see it. I'm in VS/MTM 2012 V4...

As you said that you did not see the new bug report in TFS after you
reporting a new bug - all the info by choosing "Update an Existing Bug" option in test runner.
I suggest you need to check if you can see the new bug report by selecting
Testing Center->Test->Verify
Bugs.
(1)If you could not see the
new bug report in the bugs list, I doubt that you may be not update an Existing Bug successfully.
Therefore, I suggest you can refer the following link to create a new bug report by the update an Existing Bug.

CollectionEvent update vs. move (Bug?)

I have a strange behaviour and would like to know if this is
a bug, feature or miscoding by myself.
I have an arrayCollection with several objects displayed by a
DataGrid. If a parameter of one of the objects changes a
CollectionEvent.COLLECTION_CHANGE event is dispatched by default.
This work fine so far and the event.kind of this event is "update".
The problem is that the DataGrid is sortable. If the property
changed that the DataGrid sorts on the event.kind will change to
"move" and no "update" event is dispatched at all. If this is a
feature, how do can I access the changed properties? The "update"
event includes a PropertyChangeEvent in the items Array, which is
pretty handy. But this doesn't work if the event.kind is
"move"

N95-1 V30 Bugs & Issues

Let's discuss the bugs and issues with the new V30 firmware.
What I don't like about V30 are that
1- when the N95 starts, the standby screen goes blank for less than a second for once.
2- There are now too many applications installed on the phone (if you check the Application Manager you will see the list) occupying the memory.
3- Also after updating from V21, V30 crashed when using bluetooth. Seemed like it had problems with bluetooth. The crash was bad that you could only restart the phone by taking out the battery. After 3 re-installs now the bluetooth works fine.

Did anyone see any difference at the Sound ?
The sound at the music player seems lower quality now.
I have tried to restore to defaults and change the equalizer settings again but the sound is just Cr@ppy.
Its seems like the sound is being compressed, especially in the high volume and even more at the bass parts as expected.
Its like the sound is being struggled, more mid and some high but not real voice and clarity.
It reminds me some cheap Chinese mp3 player.
I had the V23 and the sound was crystal clear and
balanced.
If this is the price that I have to pay for some more minutes of music as the Nokia say for this Upgrade then I prefer to hear the half and have some descent quality.
I just hope that they ll fix this in some newer version and that they are not doing this just to make the Music versions look better in sound.

N95-1 V30 bugs :(

Hi all! Dunno if it was discussed before, but here is my list of bugs that I got in new V30 firmware on my N95-1:
1) Web browser crashes when visiting YouTube and some "big" sites (more than 1mb), that's annoying
2) Nokia Maps 2.0 crashes sometime(specially when i get connection from satellite)
3) Small bug in Music Player - for example you added 4 songs to memory card and after what you pressed "Refresh" button it shows you that was added 1 song (when you added more than 1).
4) Sometime when closing camera, camera app. don't close properly (black screen, press red button and it exit)
5) Barcode reader crashes sometime
I got N95-1 with 4gb memory card. FW- 30.0.015
On phone I didn't installed 3rd party soft that may cause this crashes. Please help me to fix it. Thanks!

I've noticed 4 out of 5 of those problems.
1) is more to do with the hardware, specifically the amount of SDRAM in the phone. There isn't really enough to process large web pages.
2) is one I'd never noticed because I tended to use google maps rather than Nokia maps on my N95.
3) seen it too. In fact, if you add a whole load of tracks, for each track it counts while refreshing the library, it does in fact detect 10 of them.
4) this sometimes happens if you're doing something else at the time or if other applications are open. As you say, it's easily solved by pressing the red button.
5) I've seen this with barcodes that are difficult to read.
All but 1) could really be considered bugs. What I don't know is if there will be any more updates for the N95 series of phones at this point in their life. They've been around for a while and Nokia is more likely to be concentrating on newer models nowadays.

Visual Studio (2012 / 2013 etc) crash on updating VSO / TFS bug on check-in

I'm posting about this bug today after triggering it no less than 5 times in a row (because of my bad habit to press Ctrl-S often) each time losing my check-in comments and having to start again after restarting VS2013.
Simple to reproduce, all you need to do is open a bug in Visual Studio, make a change to the bug outside of VS (e.g. by associating it with the build) then saving the bug. Crash.
For example:
Open project with pending changes
From Team Explorer - Open Work Items / Open Bugs (or any view containing items)
From Team Explorer - Open Pending Changes
Drag and drop any bug to the "Related Work Items" section below comments
Write a comment
Hit Ctrl-S
Crash.
Also trying to update the bug / item itself after checking in (e.g. to close the item) will cause this.
This bug has been around for at least the last two major version, can someone please fix it? (Save me throwing another mouse through the monitor :])

Base on steps that you provided, I made a test in VS2013 update 2 with TFS 2013 update 3 and VSO, it works fine.
So, I think the issue is in your VS or environment. Please refer to these steps below to narrow down this issue and deal with it.
Create a new user account and run VS, then do the test, if it works fine, I think there are something wrong with your profile and you could create a new account and copy current user info to it.
Check your OS with some tools, such as
Sfc /scannow
If your environment is OK, let’s check your VS.
Use
devenv /log to gather log and check the error form log file.
Try other commands to fix, such as devenv.exe /safemode, devenv.exe
/resetskippkgs, devenv.exe /installvstemplates, devenv.exe
/resetsettings, devenv.exe /resetuserdata
The devenv.exe tool is located under your VS location/Common7/IDE.
If the issue still exists, please repair or update your VS.
On the other hand, the issue of the bug has been around for at least the last two major version, which is related to TFS, I suggest that you should open a new thread in TFS forum.

App Store update button displays bug message after updating, iOS 6.0

In iOS 6.0, after updating an app in the App Store, a weird message appears on the update button.
The button remains active giving the choice to update twice or more.

Dude there are many bugs in ios 6 it is not safe to use.

N95 will not restore backup after update to v30

have read numerous forums about similar problems however nothing about upgrade to v30 and nothing that would solve my problem...
Please help!
So... Ive updated the telephone from v20 to v30... tried to restore my backup and nothing. It shows as if it was restored but there is nothing on the phone...
Ive tried everything there was to try as far as I know or could have read...

Absolutely nothing works!
There are all my job contacts in my contacts and messages and all my appointments in my calendar and since the computer Im using is new I have nothing on my Outlook yet...

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

[N97 mini - UPDATED] Well known bug: "camera alrea...

I updated my N97 mini device to latest fw which is 30.04.
Like whenever I capture image with my camera, after capturing image I can't interact with the handset.
Rather it shows "camera already in use".
I have to wait a lot more rather usual time in order to delete captured image or interact. Is there any solution of this?
I heard of some mod which arent authorized can fix it. But i don't trust those, neither I think is acceptable to be forced to put "custom" firmware to solve a problem Nokia should have fixed asap.
Of course I won't buy another Nokia cellphone anymore and I will discourage friends (and they are really many) to do the same because of lack of support.
Please:
- don't tell me it is a problem of my phone because it is not (all people with N97 mini have the same problem)
- don't tell me to reset it or to re-update firmware because it is useless (and I have already tried it)
- tell me you are awared of the problem and it will be fixed in the next coming firmware release because it is the only thing worth saying
