N86 temperature range and battery charging

Hi there!
I was wondering, can somebody tell me which is the working temperature range of the Nokia N86? I looked it up in the data sheet, in its manual, and it's nowhere to be found. I'm asking this because there are some damn chilly times over here (about -17 C) , and really don't wanna damage my phone.
Also, can the usb charging damage the phone's battery? I mean, I'm plugging and unplugging the USB cable pretty often, therefore the phone is "mini-charging" a lot, so to say. It's my first USB charging phone, until now I was used on charging the phone once a couple of days only, so I'm at least curious about it..
Thanks!

Hi zomgdude
Nokia are strangely reticent about device operating temperatures but I think that I have seen -40 Centigrade to +85 Centigrade quoted as temperature testing range for devices, although what parametesr refers to a successful outcome are not made clear.
For an iPhone containing similar components storage environment is quoted as between -20º and 45º C and operating environment as between 0º and 35º C with either short battery life or thermal cutout expected at either end of quoted operating range as you might expect.

iPhone 5 getting really hot and battery charge not lasting very long at all??

Try some of these to save battery time:
Settings>Notifications>[Turn off any notifications you don't need]
Settings>General>Software Update (Make sure you're up to date)
Settings>Brightness & Wallpaper> Auto-Brightness on (And that your brightness is not to the max)
    Settings>Privacy>Location Services>Turn off/Stop apps from using it
    Settings>Bluetooth>Off
    Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data>Manually
Settings>Wi-Fi> Off (When you don't need internet when you're out and about)
    To stop overheating, note these:
    Operating Temperatures: 0° to 35° C (32° to 95° F)
    Non-Operating Temperatures: -20° to 45° C (-4° to 113° F)
    Hope this helps!

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.
    (B) Reset all settings
    Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings
Note: Data will not be affected but settings will be reset.

  • Ideal temperature range and how to maintain it

    Hi,
I bought a new MacBook last week. I have a little issue about its temperature. On Apple support page it says the ideal temperature range is 10 C to 35 C. However using iStat I see that my minimum CPU temp is always 45 C and when I do some intensive tasks or open more applications it goes up o 65-70 C. Is this OK? Whats the practical temperature range?
Upon searching through some forums, it seems I am not the only one that is getting this. But it really worries me as the base of the MacBook really gets warm. Also this cant be good for the internal chips. Please suggest some ways to maintain the temperature.
    Thanks for the help.

Oh, I guess that representative may have said the wrong thing. Anyway, stedman1, do you know of a page on the Apple website that states the thing about the computer being 100 degrees Celcius?
    Thanks.

  • IPod mini serial number and battery charging

This is a weird question that I hope someone can help me with. I purchased a refurbished mini (silver) on eBay for my daughter, because I love my mini, but I couldn't by a new one. I'm having battery charging issues (it won't hold a charge even after being on the charger (USB to Mac iBook) overnight. I wanted to see if there was still warranty available on it, but when I typed the serial number on the back of the iPod into the "check warranty" box on the Apple support home page it said it wasn't a correct serial number.
The back of the iPod (from top to bottom) has the apple logo, an HP logo (I wonder if it was originally packaged with an HP computer?), a weird holographic sticker of some kind, the size (4 MB), then the serial number. The serial number does look significantly different than the one on my blue mini.
Could it be that apple handed the warranty support on this iPod to HP?
iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   iPod mini (blue)

    Kyle,
Thanks for your help. I will check the Hp website for warranty information for her iPod.
I keep my iBook set to never go to sleep when it's on the power adapter (I regularly charge my iPod overnight on it, and always use the power adapter when charging).
I reset her iPod and it seems to have solved the charging problem. It may have been an indicator problem — I saw some posts about that. I am having my daughter listen to her iPod all day today and see how long the battery lasts.
    Your post was very helpful!

  • Voltage range of battery charger for iMac accessories?

Is the US-sold battery charger (for iMac accessories with two batteries charged at once) working from 110 to 230 volts (with US-plug though)? Thanks.
    Pierre

Since the charger is rated at 5 Watts, and you have 5 Watts there that should work.

  • Need Assistance with battery and battery charger U450p

I have an ideapad U450p. until today, this computer was served me exceptionally well.
for the past 2 years now I have had battery issues but because I was always able to plug it in, I did not worry about it. Yesterday, my charger has intermittently stopped charging and now I have to wiggle the cables around just to get it to connect. Since my battery doesn't hold a charge this is a problem since I get blasted with the alarm and computer shuts off.
I tried to find how to purchase a new adapter and battery but the lenovo website doesn't seem to have any information about the U450p. it spits out that my product is discontinued and sends me on a wild goose chase to some crazy off market sites.
i need this computer to be in tip top shape because i am working on my doctoral thesis and about to defense in 6 weeks. i can't have this problem and I can pay anything for proper battery and charger.
    where do i find them?

    hi torontostudent,
Your charging issue might be similar to this thread and it's not caused by a faulty charger but a loose DC-IN jack (it could have wear out over time if you unplug / insert the charger everyday). Upon checking this part, it's removable and replaceable. You can have it looked at a local computer repair shop see if they can reattach the loose part by soldering it to the board.
For the battery replacement, you can obtain it from the lenovo spare parts website - www.lenovospareparts.com (If a part is out of stock, click on Help at the upper right hand portion and fill out the contact form).
    Best regards,

  • Zen Sleek and battery charg

I just purchased a Zen Sleek and I am currently charging it. The manual says it will take approx. 2 hrs. to charge, but it is running on 4 hrs.
It zipped past bars one, two and three. It is currently still showing as charging on the third bar, and has been like this again for 4 hrs.
How long does it take to complete, I'm hoping I don't have another bad Creative product on my hands.

It looks like I got my second defecti've Creative product in 5 months. FIrst, my Micro goes back for a refund because of the headphone jack, now the Sleek has an issue with the battery not fully charging. I read their knowledgebase, but I have found posts regarding others who have had to return their Sleek because of this defect.
Well, I will get a refund, and will NEVER touch Creative again, I have a Rio (which works great 00% of the time). Since they're gone, I will find a manufacturer who doesn't ship defecti've products at least in my case 00% of the time.
Go ahead, flame away, I'm not visiting this board anymore, so have fun. I'm not buying an iPod, but Apple doesn't ship crap at the rate this company does.Message Edited by Allen5 on 2-25-2005 2:34 AM

  • Nokia 1600, USB and Battery charging

    Hi,
I want to use my 1600 to connect via a virtual serial port on my PC, and control it via AT commands.
However, when the phone is connected to the USB port does it charge? or do I need a spererate charger (and does the USB connector on the phone allow enough room for this?)
Also, does the 1600 software allow for a virtual port to be setup and communicate using AT commands?
    Thanks

Hi - as far as I know there are'nt any drivers from Nokia's side for the 1600. So I am not sure how you are going to do it.
But if you get it right let me know as I am interested in using cheap phones as AT modems.
    Thanks.

  • Weird battery charging behaviour

Ok, I'll start by saying that this is a problem that has been coming and going for quite a while (definitely months, maybe years). But for the sake of illustration, I'll describe what happened today.
So last night I was using my laptop on the couch (not plugged in) and fell asleep. Woke up to a dead battery. No problem, I plugged it in and woke it up and was good to go. Several hours later I noticed that my battery charge was still at 1 or 2%, though clearly it was running just fine off AC power. Looking at the light on the power adapter, I thought it was completely off until I read a few support posts and found out that "dim green" is an option. Upon close examination, yep, dim green. System Information said the battery itself was ok (cycle count 153, condition normal) but not charging. Under AC Charger Information, it said Connected: yes, Charging: no.
Unplugging and replugging the adapter a few times didn't seem to do anything. There's no obvious gunk in around the terminals. I shut down and reset SMC, no change. Finally I just fiddled with the adaptor (unplug, replug, flip around, wiggle up and down) until the light turned briefly green, and then orange. Now it's clearly charging (up to 38% now, and battery icon has a little lightning bolt) although System Info still says it isn't charging.
Oh, hang on. I just quit and restarted System Info, and now it says it is charging! Huh.
Addendum: While adding tags I noticed that the light on the adapter is back to dim green. System info still says it's charging, and battery % charged numbers are still going up.
I'm guessing it's an issue with the magsafe adaptor, just not sure how you end up with a temporary situation where the laptop can run on AC power but can't charge the battery.
Oh, and in case it's relevant: I'm running a 13" mid-to-late 2009 MacBook Pro, the kind with a non-removable battery, though I did have the battery replaced (by a friend who is Apple-certified) less than a year ago. The AC adaptor I'm using is the one that came with the computer. I'm pretty sure the problem pre-dates the new battery (since it comes and goes, and because I spend a lot of time using the laptop at home while plugged in, I don't always notice).

I had this exact same problem with my mid-2009 MBP as well. My adapter (white connector) has suddenly stopped charging the computer and displayed a very dim-green LED instead of the normal orange or bright green.
I came to the conclusion that the adapter has been shorted out in some way (possibly due to old age) and that was the cause of this. Sure enough my local Apple retailer sold me a new adapter that everything has been fine ever since. I even enjoy the new design - the metal-tipped connector that faces sideways.
Unfortunately the adapter cost me $80, but was a small price to pay as opposed to replacing my laptop. Since this sounds like the exact same issue I faced, I would recommend you purchase a new MagSafe. Just make sure you get the right one for your model (should be a 60W MagSafe)
    Hope this helps you out!
