N9 Nokia maps (latest version)?

I have a China branded N9 with PR 1.3.
Last week I was able to update my maps directly from my phone.
Map version 4.2.55; map data is 0.2.45.12 (release data is 23 Oct 2012).
I read that the latest version is 0.2.46.103.
Does this mean that I got a downgrade? (According to my N9 and Nokia Suite, my maps are up to date).
Regards,

Is there another way to upgrade my maps to 02.46 version?
Map data folder structure remains the same as upon Symbian devices with data in (16) folders 0 - 9 and a- f so it is possible to manually download compressed .zip and place in cities/diskcache following proccedure outlined by ovikovi HERE upon Symbian devices.
Whilst this worked for me being familiar with it as essentially a Mac user, others have run into difficulties and it also has the disadvantage that although latest map data can be utilised you won't get it listed with a nice green tick beside the countries by this method; consequently I would hate to stop anyone's map application from working.

  • History missing within Ovi Maps (latest version)?

    Hi There..
With the trial I had with 3.0.1 I was able to use Maps and it's history. When I clicked to travel by car, set destination, I was able to select 'History' there.
The strange thing is, since I upgrade to 3.0.3 / FW40 (latest free version) the 'History' option was gone. Only Search and From maps are still available. I did a lot of navigation since the installation but the 'History' button did not came back..
At first I thought it was something with the software but I did a Hard-Reset (Camera+Green+Red) and did an update using SW-update. Still the same. I formatted my microSD card just before I did the reset just to make sure it wasn't the data on the card.
I also downloaded the Europe maps for offline instalation but this does not resolve the issue.
Any ideas? I could not find an answer on the internet. History accessible after upgrade from FW v31 to v40. Why is it gone on my Nokia 5800 Express Music (FW 40.005)?
    Thanks in advance,
    With kind regards.

    1. If you're running on the latest version for your product code and it states in the page on maps.ovi that your version is compatible, it should be fine.
    2. Installing to phone memory or mass memory - you got nothing,. Nothing you ever do will make the map application install to anything other than phone memory.
    3. What you should do first is go to Maps>Settings(wrench)>Map>Maximum memory in use. As much as possible it should be set to 50% and above. I have mine set to 70%. It may be that the phone is not saving history since you have already consumed the memory you alloted to the maps application. Also please check that it is set to use mass memory/memory card, as even if the application is saved to the phone, the maps advisably should be in the mass memory due to its size.Try to use it a few times and see if it finally saves history.
    4. Failing in the above procedure, you should delete all maps, uninstall both ovi and nokia maps, and then delete the cities and qf files in the phone and/or mass memories. Turn off your phone and remove battery for 5 min, then reboot and install.
    5. If the above procedure still fails, you may have to consider a hard reset.

  • Nokia Map 2 version ?

Latest version for Map 2 is ? mine one on my N95-1 is v2.0 wk21 b02...Is that got latest version released on 9/6/08 ? coz got more cities covered....anybody can help?

Only problem is that the New Nokia Maps Version 2 still does not work well finding businesses and Canadian (Quebec) Addresses.
I have to give up on the Nokia Maps and use Google Maps to get my destination information.
Also the exit numbers for a lot of the Canadian Maps are incorrect(even with the latest maps) and seen some bad and missing directional information. I just wish there was an easier way to report these problems than only on this discussion forum.

    Hi knownothing
Last version of Nokia Maps v2.0_4503 here:http://europe.nokia.com/A4984199
Latest version of Nokia Maploader allows you to connect both in default PC Suite mode and Data transfer mode so don't get Windows warning for removing USB mass storage device and more options of Maps, Voices and Store available in Maploader.
If you into Connectivity > USB > USB mode - choice of four connection modes.

    Hi leobox1,
The latest PC suite version is 7.0.8.2. So if you are not using this, then uninstall the current PC suite and download the latest version.
Next, go to http://europe.nokia.com/A4984199, to update both the Nokia Maps in your N85 to version 2 and also download the latest Nokia Maps Loader version 2.0.2
Note: If your N85 is brand new, you must use your N85 GPS application at least once before you can use Nokia Map Loader.

  • Nokia Map Language Problem

I have reinstalled nokia map to version 2.0 in E66, and downloaded the map through Nokia Map Loader. I'm in China and I downloaded maps with Chinese language, while I set English as my phone language.
When I click Optioin -> Search -> Places and search places near by,  the results are all in English. While if I go offline first then search, the results are in Chinese. How can I set my online search language to Chinese?
I guess there might be some option to decide search language, but I cannot find it. It should not be affected by my phone language, since before the installation my phone language is also English while online search results are in Chinese.

    Hi edwinxi
I think that you would have needed to set phone language in Chinese to achieve this result.

  • Nokia Maps 3.0 on 5800 and problem with external G...

    Hi,
I have just updated Nokia Maps to version 3.0, but unfortunately, when I try to use an external GPS (as I always did successfully with Nokia Maps 2.0), the menu asking for GPS device association continues to pop-up and it makes Nokia Maps 3.0 completely unusable. Things work fine with the built-in GPS, but I need the external one to save power and in situations that are particularly cumbersome such as among skyscrapers. What should I do? Another thing: I have already a Drive licence, but I cannot see the 3D buildings: what should I do? Thanks!

    Hi lorluin
You must have enabled it by going to Settings > Phone > Application Settings > Positioning > Positioning methods and enable "Bluetooth GPS". Does it make any difference if you open GPS Data application and leave it running and then start OVI Maps?
Are you "On" or "Offline" when trying to see 3D buildings?

  • The latest Nokia maps version(00.02.41.123)

    Whole Europe:
    http://static.s2g.gate5.de/map5/maploaderzip-00.02.41.123/312.zip
As I have not seen any discussion about this version 00.02.41.123 of maps here, does it mean that no version other than map appl v.3.06 is able to work with these maps?
Map application v.3.06 works on the following phones:
     Symbian 3: N8, E7, C7, C6-01
    S60 5th Edition: N97, N97 mini, X6, C6-00, 5800XM, 5235, 5230 & 5230 Nuron

    http://symbian.clanteam.com/indexmaps.htm
The map link is from the above site. There are countries too. The bad thing with the Clanteam site is that they do not mention very exactly what their maps are.
Maps for the latest version of Ovi Maps (the former Nokia Maps) from maps.nokia.com, and for the latest beta test version of Ovi Maps 3.x.
Maps for Ovi Maps (Nokia Maps) 3.x
Those are the (Beta) maps for application 3.06
Or I don't know whether Nokia calls those maps beta any more!!!
The most interesting thing with the appl 3.06 and  the maps -00.02.41.123, is whether those
work with other Nokia phones than those mentioned in the first post of this thread!!!
Or whether the app. 3.04 works with the 02.41.123 maps?? Some one wants to try?
I know it's frustrating to download such a huge package (2.8 Gigabytes) but it's up to Nokia to facilitate that.  I need the whole Europe for planning the summer trip.  I've 00.01.23.112 version of maps( from cityindex.xml-file) and appl. 3.04.  Those are not working  very well.
I need quickly figure out whether I need to replace my  car navigator  with a new one or can the current Nokia maps and appl be updated in a way that  those can be used for planning the trip and are useful during the trip. It's hard to know what is going to happen with the maps in the future. Perhaps Nokia makes the latest "beta" maps and appl available to all "smartphones" perhaps not.   I bought C5-00 and it has certain limitations: small screen size for navigation, perhaps too weak gps chip, slow processor and too little memory. But the small size and weight makes it very practical to have it with me once abroad.
Hardly Nokia minds if some one who has managed to download the whole continent makes it available to others through a file sharing site or similar!! The maps are free and it's in the interest of Nokia to share those maps to so many as possible. There are plenty of problems with the maps already, hardly they want more customers who are complaining all the time not getting what they want. Newer versions of maps and applications come with improvements..

  • Tracking option in Latest Nokia Maps gone

Hi everyone, Ive updated my Nokia Maps on N95. Used their 3 days free trial, and now the tracking option has disappeared from the route menu. On the old version you could plan a route from A to B, and instead of Navigating there, you could use the Start Tracking option. This seems to be no longer available. Now if I plan a route, it wants me to buy the navigation stuff. Has any one else had this problem. The maps app is practically useless now unless you want to buy a licence key.

I too was made a victim of Nokia's failure to inform 'Maps' users of the lack of Tracking capabilities in the latest version of Nokia Maps.
I couldn't have been more dissapointed with the latest installment of a program which i had previously been very happy with! My reasons are simply,
    1) I don't think the interface is accesible as that in previous versions of Nokia Maps
    2) The lack of tracking capabilities
Like so many of you in this discussion i updated Maps and found i disliked the update and wanted to revert back to the latter version, easier said than done but i managed to do it...
First I performed a Hard Reset (*#7780#): WARNING, i recommend backing up the phones data first, i found this out the hard way!
After setting the country, time, date etc i found that Nokia Maps and a number of other Applications had been replaced by another set of icons and were named differently, eg. Nokia Maps now couldn't be opened and was called Smart2Go.
To rectify the apparently worsened problem i downloaded the Nokia Software Updater which informed me that although i had the latest Firmware i could reinstall it - i did this and PROBLEM SOLVED!
I hope by sharing my experience others might have their problem solved. I think the solution lies in reinstalling the phones software on Software Updater.

  • Fail to install latest version of Ovi Maps

I tried to install Ovi maps 3.03 but during the installation, it says there's not enough memory and it asks me to delete something from the C:. But I didn't really put much in C: and I don't know what I can delete without affecting the system.
So, when I open "Maps" now, the old version still pops out (it says 3.01 when I click into "About"),
but apparently the installer in the PC suite thinks I have 3.03 already.
    What should I do?
    Thanks.

I just saw your post that the old version opens, but the ovi suite says that the latest version is already installed. I had exactly the same problem a few days ago: the error was that the stupid software installed the new maps version as a seperate program, instead of updating the old maps version. Everytime I tried to launch maps, it still opened the old version, and when I tried to reinstall the new one again (because I thought that it didn't work the first time), my phone would tell me that there isn't enough free space left. The solution was to delete both maps programs in the program-manager and then install the latest maps software manually using the file from here: http://maps.nokia.com/ovi-services-and-apps/ovi-maps/downloads?lid=nav_navq1_link_downloadovimapswit...

  • Nokia Maps - pre-launch version bug

    Hello,
I've just installed the latest version and it seems that it doesn't show properly street and city names with unicode characters - this worked well in beta version. Now map data looks very weird e.g. in Poland, because there are no Polish letters at all (instead there're some weird chars). The same problem exists in 'search' and others parts of the application.
    Tested on N93, v20.0.058
    BR,
    Jack

I found another bug - when you search for cash mashines nearby, application shows doubled entries in results list (e.g. machineA, machineA, machineB, machineB, C, D, D, E...).
Everything was tested on N93 with latest Polish maps (downloaded by Nokia Map Loader 1.1).
    BR,
    Jack
    P.S.
I'm slowly becoming main tester of this application
