N9 PR1.3 update

Hello,
I have a portuguese N9 64GB, product code 059M1L6.
Although in the portuguese nokia site is stated that the current release is the 40.2012.21-3, my phone only has the PR1.2 30.2012.07-1.398.1_PR398.
Is there a schedule for the roll out of PR1.3 or my phone will never have the update?
João

@JLagarto
Pretty sure that there was a recent post from another use whom had given up hope and then pleasantly surprised that PR1.3 had appeared. Warranty considerations apart you are however free to install whatever you want upon this open source device!

  • All quiet on the N8 PR1.1 update front - Nokia fai...

Whilst the vast majority of N8s around the world have received this update there seem to be a large number which are "stuck in the system".
In a separate thread ( /t5/Software-Updates/Official-Nokia-N8-PR1-1-Software-Release-Schedule/td-p/923407) Nokia were providing a regularly updated spreadsheet of when the update would be available by phone variant. That's not been updated since the 24th February.
Whilst I can accept that the release date may not be in Nokia's control, I feel they've shot themselves in the foot by starting out with good comms then letting it drop. In the thread we were promised that the update would be available within 5 days of the dates in the spreadsheet but with those dates being nearly 3 weeks past many of us are still waiting with no (promised) forthcoming information - and no update.
Shame - Nokia seemed to be doing well.

NOBODY HAS A CLUE WHAT IS GOING ON AT NOKIA!!!!
I have rang Nokia customer service, I have rang Vodafone customer service. Neither of them have a clue what PR1.1 is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NOKIA!!! This whole PR1.1 **bleep** is one of the main reasons why I am SERIOUSLY considering jumping ship. I WANT MY UPDATE NOW.
Nokia Care contact centre staff are only able to help you to know what is the latest version of software for your particular device's product code, they will not be able to tell you when an update will become available - update schedules for Nokia devices, like those for most other major phone manufacturers, are not currently published in advance.
If your device is a Vodafone variant (ie: it has the Vodafone-customised version of the software), then Nokia will only be able to offer the update to you when it receives the approval from Vodafone. Approval for operator-variant software updates is a process undertaken at commercial level between Nokia and the operator concerned, just as Nokia Care staff cannot provide you with advanced scheduling, I doubt that the customer support staff of your operator will have information regarding update schedules for any devices that they offer.
Software updates are phased in due to the wide range of regional, national and network variants. Nobody questions the frustration of customers whose device is not yet able to receive an update that is already available to others, but this is regrettably unavoidable - particularly in the case of operator-variant models.

  • Nokia update PR1.1 - Nokia N8

    Hi guys!

bluegnu, I totally agree that it's not an ideal situation but it's what we've got at the moment and others aren't much better.
I too am excited about this upcoming update and the year in general but too many people have a habit of turning excitement into bitterness when things don't happen exactly when they expect them to (or as they expect).
What a lot of people don't understand is that Nokia is still in the process of taking full control of symbian after the foundation ended in a mess. As the year goes on we should see more updates, more features, more quickly and possibly more news coming directly out of Nokia. Hopefully things will continue to change for the better as the year goes on.
Remain positive, take rumours with a pinch of salt and most of all enjoy your phone as it is treating any updates as bonuses. That's always worked for me

  • BIGGER FONT IN PR1.1 UPDATE

I have been told that the PR1.1 update comes with a bigger font although is still non adjustable. It does help in the readibility department in view of my aging eyes. Can anybody with PR1.1 installed in their N9 confirm this? Thank you & looking to all your replies soon. Cheers mate!

    @diff
Pretty sure that I posted N9 v Lumia 800 font comparision recently but no noticeable difference upon N9 between PR1.0 & PR1.1 as far as I am concerned, although both these devices are woefully inadequate when it comes to accessibility and however much iPhone is slated upon this forum it at least addresses these issues as per screenshot:

  • N9 PR1.2 Update rollout

Hi All, work up this morning to the exciting news of PR1.2 for my Nokia N9. When I checked this morning it was not available yet.
Any time frame on When the update for my Australian unbranded cyan N9 with 20.2011.40-4.299.5_299 software will be available?

    Hi!
Here's the official information that I got from our Nokia team in Australia.
“We’re pleased to be bringing the Nokia N9 updates to consumers in Australia and New Zealand.  We are currently working through the technical requirements, and with our operator partners, to ensure a smooth update process for consumers.  We don’t have visibility on timings just yet but hope to make available as soon as we can.  Please bear with us while we work through this detail.”

  • N9 AFTER FIRMWARE PR1.1 UPDATE

Hi guys, would anyone of you out there want to share with me your experience after your N9 has been updated with PR1.1? (As of now PR1.1 is still not available in Malaysia) Like is it now a better phone than before? I'm still emotionally attached with this phone even though I have sold mine just before the PR1.1 was released. Guess I pulled the trigger prematurely. My biggest complain is the small default Font size & I have been told that with the PR1.1 update the Font size is somewhat bigger now. Blame it on my aging eyes - LOL! I'm seriously contemplating getting another N9. The hardware is just awesome & out of this world. Cheers mate & hope to hear from you guys soon.

I will have to second overlord above on this one. I have set uo two mail accounts which works just as it should.
I have noticed that the phone multitasks better and that my wifi signal and performance has improved - not much but enough.
For some reason I believe that the volume on ringtone has gotten a bit louder with PR.1.1 along with volume during call, but it might not be at all.
All in all very happy with the update and looking forward to the next one. Meantime I will enjoy this piece of perfection

Any ideas or techie tips to solve this? Thanks

This is brilliant news!! I know Nokia are often quite secretive regarding changes and bug fixes in firmware, but there appears to be a serious issue with a number of 64GB devices (particularly Austrian black 64GB handsets). Serious stability issues, random reboots and app crashes plaguing a number of these devices
Do you know if there might be a fix to address this particular problem?
The N900 suffered a similar random reboot issue just after launch that was completely fixed in the first firmware release (start of 2010). The key thing here is many users are waiting to send back their phones if they are genuinely faulty but at the same time, many will wait to try PR1.1 if it addresses this problem.
Do we know if there have been any stability improvements, particularly targetting Finnish made 64GB models?
I have mine boxed to be sent back to the supplier today (to order again at a later date), if PR1.1 solves the problems I'll definitely hold off and I'm sure a number of other users will too.

  • Bluetooth stopped working after update to PR1.3

After updating my N9 to PR1.3 the bluetooth stopped working. Trying to connect it to my laptop or other phone is unsuccessful, only get "Transfer failed" message. Anyone has this problem, too?

    @RSmaster
PR1.3 still transfers OK to my Mac, although always takes longer to go through than from Symbian device!

Based on past experience I'd say we Kiwi's will have to wait at least a month for Vodafone to get their act together. Hope they prove me wrong.
We haven't got that last App update yet, hopefully they skip it as it's rolled into 1.1 anyway.
Comments I've seen indicate the changes in 1.1 aren't big enough to warrant messing with the Product Code.
YOUR KIDDING ME! YOU GUYS DIDNT GET IT EITHER!
Man that blows! Everyone on Optus got it!
How do you know that Apps Update is rolled into PR1.1?

  • Updating to PR1.1.1

Update available via App Manager (3.2010.02-8.203.1)
    50MB free rootfs.
    Testing and Devel catalogues disabled.
Prompts to update via NSU but NSU states phone is up to date (51.1)
App Manager log is empty and I have the 203 (UK) variant.
Not overly bothered as it's only a minor update but I suspect it may be necessary once PR1.2 comes along!?

From the little experience I've had of this problem, it seems to be because a package on the phone is screwed up and half installed..this seems to stop the phone from being able to install big updates..
I might be able to help you fix this problem, it seems to have worked in the past.. but getting the info out is a bit tricky.. How comfortable are you using the x terminal?
If not very, you can try this (relatively) easy test:
Open this link on your phone:
    http://chris.intrepid.cx/N900/debug2.sh
Save the file in the documents folder on your phone
Open an x terminal and type this command exactly:
    sh MyDocs/.documents/debug2.sh
When it finishes (it will take an age!!) you'll find there is a file on your device called debug2.txt.. If you can pull that file off and post it here as an attachment, or email it to me, I'll have a look through and see if I can spot something that might be causing the problem..

    Hi,
can you please provide more info about your configuration? It would be useful to have quick voice input keyboard version, harmattan version (pr.10, pr.1, pr1.2 - you can find it in Settings->Info), language and regional settings, other input methods installed and everything you think could make your phone different from others. Yours is the very first (and until now unique) bug report for the v0.1.7 and it would help a lot to have as many info as possible to fix your issue.
    Kind regards,

Hi Ebalaf, can't help you I'm afraid but to say there seems to be a few inconsistoncies with this latest release of 1.3. Maybe people have been installing dodgy software? N9 should be clean of all **bleep**. It's a clever os and would not suffer fools gladly! I am in the UK and have yet to get the fabled 1.3 update. However, what is it anyway? As long as we have the basic ingredients, who cares? Flash it or re install.

  • C7 can't update to Anna from PR1.2 (v014.002)

I'm having a problem with trying to install Anna on C7 bought direct from Nokia Direct (which no longer exist) in UK.
I managed to update the firmware to PR 1.2 (version 014.002) a while back. The details are below:
    Release: PR1.2
    S/W Version: 014.002
    S/W version date: 2011-03-01
    Custom version: 014.002.228.05
    Custom version date: 2011-03-28
    Product Code: 059D495
    Type: RM-675
    Latest update: 7-7-2011
But when I run the Software Updater, the phone says No Updates Available.
I also connected the phone to my laptop and ran Nokia Suite (v3.2.100) and it also said "Your device is up to date. It has the software version 014.002 installed."
    How can that be correctt?
My wife's C7 (bought through Vodafone) had no problem with updating to Anna.
What's the problem? Why couldn't my C7 be updated to Anna, and why does the phone and Nokia Suite software updaters said the phone has the latest software?
I'm in the UK and both the phones were bought in the UK and one managed to update to Anna but the other couldn't. Can anyone help?
    Thanks

    Hi JackB
Thanks for looking up on the Nokia server for my product code.
It surprises me that Nokia, to this day, continues to mess things up with even the simplest things like trying to update the phone software. It doesn't need to be this complicated, surely.
The other C7, which managed to update to Anna (v022.014) has product code of 059D0V6. How come this handset works and the other doesn't?
What do these product codes refer to? Are they for different markets? This phone that I'm having problem with (the one with product code 059D495) was bought from Nokia Direct (which no longer exist as a service). So, that's even more puzzling.
    Cheers
