N900 .. how about battery life ?

Hi,
Nokia, congratulations with your very promising N900 !
However, how about battery life ? I can't find any info about it.

That's because it was only announced in the press yesterday. No reviewers have had the chance to test it yet...

  • Question about battery life

    Hi everyone,
I got my refurbished MBP 13" mid 2010 model two Friday's ago (July 16) from the Apple online store and I have some questions about the battery life....
Immediately after I got it, I followed all the battery calibration instructions from apple.com/batteries (and did it again after it because I was unsure if I did it properly). While it was charging, I was installing some recommended applications, one being coconutBattery. In the additional information section, it said that my MBP was 7 weeks old, has gone threw 10 battery load cycles, and had a original battery capacity of 97%. I am now at 17 loadcycles, with 94% original battery capacity.
Now to how much time I get with the battery... I have done some testing of my own, such as watching some movies (Tron and Star Trek First Contact, I'm a geek :D), basic web browsing (5 tabs open, reading blogs, watching a couple of 3 minute youtube videos) and listening to an audio book (iWoz) with a tab or two open. The best battery life I have gotten (basic web browsing) was 5 1/2 hours, with 60% LCD brightness, keyboard backlight off, and bluetooth off, with just Chrome and coconutBattery open.
Is this the average battery life for everyone else? I bought this because of its supposedly good battery life, and though I am very happy with my purchase, I just want to make sure that I have a fully working MBP.
    Some other notes:
The battery meter next to the clock sometimes says that 98% is fully charged (I think it is just a glitch)
The estimated battery life is between 9-11 hours when brightness is at 30%-40%, airport and bluetooth is off, and keyboard backlight is off when I am doing text editing.
    Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Forgot to say I have the 2.4ghz 250gb model.

  • Why is apple not paying heed to pages of complaints about Battery life in OS X Mavericks?

    The header says it all:
I have a MBA, Mid-2013 Model with the fourth Gen- i5 Processor, with the pre-installed software, I was getting around 10 hours with my usage, only non native apps were Microsoft Office for Mac and Google Chrome. Now I have been working the same way since I upgraded to Mavericks the day it was released and since then I notice the following and several users are noticing the same.
    1. I have not seen battery draining in sleep mode with the previous install of the OS X? Why is it happenning to this version?
    2. There were no issues with Chrome with Mountain Lion, why do I have to remove chrome and use Safari with the latest install, even doing so with all it's power saving features, I am not not able to match the battery life I got with the former OS.
    3. I see that none of these complaints happenned when users installed the Golden Beta? why with the retail version???
I have done the resets and all recommended by the forums, I see a better number in the time remaining - but the drain is pretty much the same, I don't see the logic of a PRAM Reset or a SMC reset is going to change OS performance.
I get about  7 hours now, which is way off the estimate of 15 hours? Is apple on some sort of denial? Well, i can see paid articles going on about the extended battery life, but none really pointing towards pages of users complaining about this?
Is there a magic wand to sort this out? Any help insight appreciated, or atleast an acknowledgement that Apple's team is working on a patch/upgrade, roll back with some sort of time line?
( I am a mac user for the last 10 years, so this is not a critique, a genuine concern combined with disappointment for the first time with OS X Claims)

Thanks for the reply. My battery was just recently calibrated and was working fine until yesterday, so I'm pretty sure that is not the case.
I also have been reading that installing Adobe Photoshop might also be the problem, which I also did Wednesday night, though looking at the activity monitor, there are no processes that would be overrunning.
Anyone else have an issue similar to this?

  • Question about battery life on brand new mbp

I have had my mbp 11 days now, and the battery life seems very short.
I have tiger woods 08 installed
20 minutes of playing and the battery life is down from 100% to 20%.
This seems very short, its not only playing games, the battery life seems to go down very fast when browsing the internet etc.
    Cycle count is 8.
Can anyone tell me, is this what i should expect?

In particular read the article on calibrating the battery. If you haven't done this, then I suggest you try it first. If problems persist then followup with a call to AppleCare or your local Apple retailer.

  • My ipod touch has a short amount of battery life of around two hours, but i installed an app that tells you how much battery life left, it said 4 hours, how come? is my ipod touch battery faulty?

my ipod touch 8gb, ios 4.3.2 has a short amount of battery life of around 2 hours, but i installed an app that tells you the battery life remaining, it said 4 hours, how come? is my ipod touch battery faulty

    Some useful info would be:
    What generation is it?
    How old is it?
If it's older than the 3rd generation, then the battery may have run its course (or iOS 4.3 is taking a toll on the battery).
If not, then you might have some issues leaving the wi-fi on and fetching data as well as running apps in the background that abuse location services and notification. Make sure those are off, or only running when necessary. If you see a small arrow in the top right corner (that isn't the music "Play" arrow), then you are currently running a location based service that can drain battery.
Also check your brightness settings, these can really pull battery life.

  • Is there any way to find out how much battery life you have on you're Bluetooth Magic Mouse and Apple Keyboard on your Windows Partion?

I'm a avid gamer and for my gaming needs most of the games that I love require Windows ,but due to my constant clicking I drain my mouse battery very fast so I always have backups. Is there anyway I can check how much mouse battery I have left so I can be sure before I start a gaming session that I'll be fine? Switching back and forth between partions is an option ,but I find it as more of a last resort then something to do normally.
    Thanks in advance!

call them, tell them you NEED a new battery installed, and they need to tell you when they can do it.  That is their job to help you! Give pushback if necessary.

  • I have 1.6 ssd version, and wondering about battery life

When i charge my battery it goes to 100% (in a reasonable time frame actually) but if i leave it plugged in it loses percentage to maybe 97% over a period of time. Then i unplug it and it goes to 80% real fast, in like maybe 20mins. Is this normal? How long should you expect if you are surfing net listening to itunes and maybe working with Microsoft office in between, out of the battery?
    Thanks for input.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • HT1222 How is battery life for iPhone5 ?

    It's not like 4s

Then, real life battery depend of your usage like brightness, CPU usage, wi-fi, bluetooth, etc.  By the way, you should post in the appropriate iPhone forum not in iTunes.

  • HT4623 How expand battery life

I face problem with my new iPhone 5 battery
It drining the charging very fast

Put the phone down and stop using it.
Seriously though, kill any apps running in the background.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

  • About Battery Life

I bought a macbookpro in April this month, but my battery can only last for no more than 2 hours, should I change a battery or are there any other solutions?

If it's in warranty, you should contact Apple Support or make an appointment at the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store.
You might consider calibrating your battery. However a new MacBook Pro purchased only 6 months ago should not be having battery problems - you should check in for warranty support while it's still under warranty.
If you purchased a used MacBook Pro that has a user-replaceable battery, I can suggest OWC as a reliable source for replacements.   If it's one of the newer MBPs that does not have a user-replaceable battery then you can still make an appointment at the Genius Bar for out of warranty service.

  • Question about full cycle charges and battery life

So I've had the new iPad since day 1 and absolutely love it, though recently I've noticed that my battery life doesn't seem to hold up as well as it has in the past. I've done three full cycle charges since getting it however during my latest one I accidently brought along my iPod wall charger and not the one that comes with the iPad. My iPad was fully discharged and I plugged it in assuming that in the 7 hour window I had that it would be fully charged within 5 hours, but this was not the case due to me having the wrong charger. After about 7 hrs of charging it was only at around 60-70% so I had to unplug it, bring it home, then plug it in once more using the correct charger. Probably a fairly obvious question but does this not count as a full cycle charge because I unplugged it? Should I perform another full cycle charge even though this most recent one was not even a week ago. I know you're supposed to completely discharge your battery as few times as possible so it worries me having to do it again so soon.
About battery life, I've noticed lately that my iPad battery seems to be depleting quicker than normal, and was hoping that perhaps this was caused by being overdue for a full-cycle charge which I may have flubbed as seen above. I'm aware of a majority of the little tips and tricks to prolong battery life however I'm not so knowledgeable on the "do's and don'ts" of charging the actual iPad so any information on that would be helpful. I should also note that unfortunately I accidently left by iPad in a hot car for a little over an hour and was tremendously devastated knowing what this can do to the battery, so could this be the main cause for a seemingly weaker battery?
    Thanks for any feedback!

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • HT1222 how much does this update redu e battery life?

how much battery life does iday update loose?

An update is never designed to reduce battery life. A small handful of users complain about battery issues with every single update.

  • What about this battery life???!!!

Has anyone come up with an optional battery. Even with the Advanced Killer, my battery doesn't last an entire day. And I don't talk on the phone much at all for it to go dead like it does..Help!

The great one strikes again! I love my HTC extended battery. Not like we have tons if accessories to purchase with this phone. May as well enjoy life like me and not worry about battery life. I'm a heavy user on WiFi mostly. This battery will get my heavy use to the end of the day plus a pinch more. Just in time for Mr Phone to charge when I get my charge sleeping.
