N900 + Ovi Suite 3.0.0.282 Beta + Bluetooth

Hello.
I'm having trouble connecting my N900 via bluetooth to Ovi Suite. I used to use PC Suite (about 10 months ago), but after some time the drivers were suddenly removed both from the PC Suite package and Windows Update as well, which made me try OVI Suite since it should support the N900.
Bluetooth do find my N900 when you search with the native program, but only 1/4 drivers are found, like this:
Here's my system info:
Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.282
PC Connectivity Solution 10.50.1.0
Connectivity Cable Driver 7.1.36.0
Nokia Ovi Suite Software Updater 2010.44.0.60888
Maps Service API 4.0.24.1
Nokia mPlatform 2.7.44
Ovi Desktop Sync Engine 1.4.1.42

- USB Modem Driver 6.1.7600.16385
- EHCI eUSB Miniport Driver 6.1.7600.16385
I've reinstalled Windows 7 several times last 10 months, so I don't think it's my particular installation that is causing problems.
Regards.
EDIT: If anyone wants to know what manufacturer made my bluetooth stick, I don't know. It is a cheap black stick with the bluetooth logo on it and the text "Bluetooth" to the right of the logo.

Hi please download and install official Nokia Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284 from www.ovi.com/suite
Have you installed something special to your Nokia N900? Like "remote control" software or something else, which could add additional Bluetooth interfaces?

  • [N900] Ovi Suite USB Connection

    Hello *,
I am unable to connect my N900 via USB to the most recent version of Ovi Suite. I have the latest firmware installed on the N900, in particular PR 1.3. Connecting it via Bluetooth works fine. "PC-Suite" Mode is selected. But no connection is determined. I have double-checked the problem with my old E90, which connects correctly.
I am not quite sure, but I believe that this problem occurred since the upgrade of the N900 to PR 1.3. There have been a couple of other problems occuring since then. After deploying the PR 1.3 upgrade bluetooth OBEX functionality stopped working, as did the Explorer Plugins provided by the deprecated PC-Suite. A switch to Ovi Suite did not get things better.
    Any suggestions are appreciated :-)

dude do you have preenv games on mydocs ? that migth casue it to stop working .
anyway for me ovi suite was always painful, but it never works for the first time, for some reason it only works when i connect it for the second time, and i go add new phone.......
how did you update to pr1.3 ?
Reality is wrong....dreams are for real... 2pac .

  • N900 Ovi Suite Compatibility

Is N900 already compatible with Ovi Suite. Or it won't happen within the next five years...

    epends on your machine.
if you are using the 64bit machine....not really at all, if 32bit, not good, but better then 64bit.
i do not recommend 9/8 suite for n900 yet.
if you need a sync solution, see below.
    download pc suite @  http://www.nokiausa.com/get-support-and-software/software/nokia-pc-suites/compatibility-and-download
DO NOT USE THE OVI SUITE
if you have ovi suite installed, then uninstall it first.
then install the pc suite from the link above.
after you have completed the installation, reboot your pc.
upon reboot, launch the pc suite (if it has not already) (i would set the settings to launch with windows start up)
when the software is running, click on the blue &green yin~yang icon for sync.
click on the phone icon, it will pop up a box to help you find a phone.
plug your phone in the usb cable, choose the pc suite on you n900
click on searcy icon onthe phone connection pop-up.
once your phone is connected, then go back to the original box that youclick on the phone icon, and click on the wrench icon to set up what, and how you want synced.
if your contacts and calendar are up to date on your pc, and you want to start fresh, then chekc the box for replace all data on the handset, and then sync.
after that sync, go back into the wrench and change that setting to how you want it to sync, otherwise, everytime you sync, it will completely change all the data to what youhave in outlook instead of adding and syncing all appointments, etc back and forth.
if you have bluetooth on you pc, then it is just as easy to do it that way.

  • Connect To Internet with Ovi Suite 2.0 Beta

I've moved from Nokia PC Suite 7.1 to Nokia Ovi Suite 2.0 Beta and can not connect to the Internet with my phone, everytime I try to connect by going to Tools/Connect to Internet it says I want to select my home operator from a list, then I select New Zealand as my home country and Vodafone NZ as my operator and when I connect it says Nokia Ovi Suite could not connect your computer to internet via vodafone NZ, is this possible? or should I go back to Nokia PC Suite 7.1 where it worked ok or at least worked?

    Hi,
First of all its great you have tried to use Nokia OVI Suite 2.0, which is still in beta as you are aware, for time being, my suggestion to you is you can use Nokia PC suite 7.1 till Nokia OVI Suite 2.0 graduates from beta labs, once its live, you can use Nokia Ovi Suite 2.0   Because NOS 2.0 is in BETA, you cann't expect it could do everything ....

  • Ovi Suite Mac?

Hi, just wondering if you can use Ovi Suite on a Mac?? thanks

Final word on Ovi Suite for Mac: Never going to happen.
    http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-ovi-suite-3-0-beta/discussion/21168/when-is-ovi-suite-for-mac-c...
The link above is to a moderator post regarding Ovi Suite development at Nokia's beta labs. The author is teemukoo and a direct quote from his post includes, "Sorry to inform you that Nokia Ovi Suite for Mac is no longer in our plans. It was release as an internal alpha, but never made it to beta.".
So after more than 3 years of eagerly waiting for Ovi Suite on my Mac, they abandonded the product without ever even releasing a beta. I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was looking forwad to having this functionality...
I suppose that back in September 2008 when they said "no mention of the timeframe", they kept silent for a very good reason. ( source for this quote: http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10038201-1.html )
At least the not-yet-released Windows Phone models from Nokia will already have Mac support, according to the beta-labs post linked to above. Not sure that this makes me feel any better, though Microsoft can't be much worse at Mac software project management than Nokia has been.
I suppose I'll take this as a good thing: insead of sitting here in a Bad Relationship with the Ovi Suite team, we've just now finally broken up. The relationship is over, like breaking up with a girl/boy-friend they can't let us down anymore. They are now only an ugly memory.
In these past few years of waiting for a Mac version, I've eventually gotten myself a Windows PC (changed jobs from a Mac centric office to a Windows centric office) and I have to say: Ovi Suite for Windows leaves a lot to be desired too. The only real reason I keep it installed is for updating my firmware; or it would be if there was ever a new firmware released for my region (Anna is due to come out about 1 month ago, right?) - I assume it will work when the time comes, but I've never had occasion to be able to try it.

    N95-1 ---> N97-NAM ---> N900 ---> E7-00 + N900 (I use them both)
(N95 was pretty good, N97 had potential but utterly failed to deliver, N900 is absurdly good. Those of you wondering, "should I try N900/Maemo/MeeGo"? The answer is a resounding YES)

  • Nokia PCsuite wants to update to Ovi Suite

Hi, I have Nokia PCsuite 7.1.40.6 installed. I'd heard there was an update, but unsure if I already had it I selected Web->check for updates. I was given an option to "update" to Ovi Suite 2.1.1.1 However since I use an N900, ovi suite is not compatable (serious omission) Is there an upgrade logic issue here. It's fine if Ovi suite is offered as an additional install, but if it's purely an "update", following that path will lead to loss of function in some cases & should be corrected,

You've the latest PC Suite. OVI Suite is a seperate installation. You can also get OVI Suite here:

  • N97 - Ovi Suite Connection Problem - Windows 7

    Hi all.
I have N97, firmware version 20.0.019 (t mobile - **bleep** with the old firmware updates.... )
I am running windoze 7 with all updates etc.
I have the latest version of nokia Ovi Suite and the latest version of Nokia PC Suite.
I am reluctantly trying to get used to using ovi suite instead of PC ever since Nokia's update page seemed to suggest I should be using OVi suite with this phone.
Anyway bluetooth connection is working fine. I can do all syncs with everything on bluetooth.
USB connection is not, when the phone is connected, and I select PC Suite on the phone, the phone and PC then get stuck in a sort of loop where the PC is "installing drivers" and the phone keeps asking me to select PC Suite mode.  Occasionally I get an error message saying I am stuck in file transfer mode.
I have also tried this after going into settings and setting USB connection mode to PC SUITE only, with Don't Ask selected.
This is profoundly frustrating and also renders the ability to update phone software totally useless because you cannot update via bluetooth, only USB connection.
I am getting mighty peeved off with Nokia's ability to get firmware, and software products right.  Come on guys, hire some decent developers, and/or start responding to feedback from customers like me.  (I'd happily beta test any software, I've done it before for an online game......!!!!)
I am considering selling my N97 online, and just buying an unlocked HTC HD2 after over a decade of using Nokia phones.
    help!
    R

Amazing that so many have responded to this post, and not one has come close to the right answer... I've had the same problem for a while, and at first I thought it was just my old XP notebook - which had more than one problem - or the general poor performance we've come to expect from the N97. I couldn't even sync on Ovi. But with my new Windows 7 notebook in hand, I was all excited to finally update the firmware on my phone - which had been stuck on v12 for a while. Imagine my surprise when I still had the same problems with my brand-new notebook. I started browsing around for more help than this thread, and found that Nokia has released a software update program seperate from Ovi Suite. Just google "Nokia Software Updater for Windows 7" or whatever version of windows you have, download & install. You might need to kill three "Nokia..." processes in the Task Manager to let it run, because it seems Ovi suite has these processes starting up with Windows. (Amazing when they program applications to do that without your permission!) Why on earth would Ovi Suite need to run three processes on my machine anyway, if I haven't even started up the program after reboot? But still, this program wouldn't connect to my N97 via USB. I clicked on the icon in the system tray showing the drivers installing after I plugged it in, and found the culprit: The installation of the driver for "MTP USB Device" failed. Googled that, and found that there are a lot of people having problems with that, from cameras to cellphones to mp3 players. Tried a few suggestions I found, and ended up having to uninstall all my (brand new?) USB controllers (under "Device Manager") and deactivate Windows Media Player from "Windows Features", reboot, then re-activate Windows Media Player - something to do with MTP Devices getting their drivers from Windows Media Player. Not sure if it was one or both of these fixes, but then Nokia Software Updater connected to my N97 with no problem. Installed the software update, and now all is good again. Incidentally, after the software update was complete, a whole bunch of different drivers were installed when I connected the USB... the main one changed from "Nokia ... Parent ..." something to "Nokia... Flashing..." something - and Ovi Suite connects fine now as well! Good luck to everyone who had this problem - it's been fun.

  • Ovi Suite mangled ALL of my birthdays (and maybe o...

    Dear All,
    I am running Outlook 2007 SP2 on a Windows 7 SP0 64-bit with Ovi Suite 2.2.1.23. My phone is an E71 with firmware 100.07.76.
I have a new laptop and all of my contacts and calendar entries are on the phone, so I need to synchonise my phone with the fresh profile.
OK... So, I downloaded Ovi Suite and ran the synchronisation over Bluetooth (the first time it has worked for me before). Everything seemed to go well...
...except... my birthdays are screwed up. On the phone, they are correct - i.e. My friend Phil's birthday is on the 12th February 1977, so his calendar entry shows up every 12th of February.
On Outlook 2007, Ovi Suite has somehow transfered over all of the birthdays as starting on the birthday and then weekly into perpetuity!
I can understand why this happened - obviously, the encoding in the phone says that the calendar series is every 1 units, starting on the birth date, but Ovi Suite, instead of interpreting the unit as years has interpreted it as weeks!
    How stupid!
Does anyone know how to fix this? Also, if I delete all of my calendar entries in Outlook, then will I kill the ones on my phone? I NEEED my calendar entries!
    Regards,
    QuietLeni

  • PC Suite & Nokia Ovi Suite via Bluetooth on Nokia ...

I had a tough time in getting the Nokia N8 in sync with the latest Nokia PC Suite which will recognise the N8 (version 7.1.40.9) together with the Nokia Ovi Suite through bluetooth. It was a nightmare! I don't use to have any troubles in connecting any Nokia phones via bluetooth but I do have a problem with the N8.
After searching through various forums and blogs, I have come to a conclusion. There is a workaround the problem when it pertains to the Nokia PC Suite. I rarely use the Nokia Ovi Suite because the Ovi Suite would not allow me to sync calender items for more than 6 weeks. With the Nokia PC Suite, it will allow a user to sync any items for 99 years! Can you believe it? However, not all are lost. The Ovi Suite is better in terms of installing updated maps on the N8 though. You would not be able to do so on the Nokia PC Suite.
When it comes to synchronising your N8 with your PC Suite/ Ovi Suite via bluetooth, you need to take care. The steps will be as follows:
    (1) Install the latest Nokia Ovi Suite and or PC Suite Suite version 7.1.40.9.
    (2) Don't run Ovi/Nokia PC Suite. If they are running on the taskbar, right click to exit all of them.
    (3) Enable bluetooth on your N8 and then right click on the bluetooth devices icon at the bottom right of your laptop.
    (4) Once you have right clicked on the bluetooth devices icon, select 'add devices'.
    (5) Follow the prompts on your N8 and also on your laptop/pc.
    (6) Please make sure that your N8's bluetooth is on 'discoverable'. Otherwise your laptop/pc will not be able to pick up the signal.
    (7) Follow the instructions given and then reboot your laptop/pc.
After that, you would need to fire up your PC Suite or Ovi Suite but not both at the same time. Use PC Suite to sync your contacts/messages/calenders while use the Ovi Suite to install and update your map on your Nokia devices.
    Good luck!
Please THANK me by clicking on the ****WHITE STAR** ( Giving KUDOS) the big GREEN BOX to your LEFT .

    Thanking You

Pls help. I'm able to connect my N8 to my laptop's win7 home premium but not to OVI suite or PC Suite.
They get connected with N8 over cable but not over bluetooth. PC Suite says "Can not authenticate the phone" and ovi suite keeps checking the "Phone's bluetooth capabilities".
    Kindly help.

Enable Bluetooth wireless technology on your computer.
Edit the Bluetooth settings of your mobile device. To do this, go to Settings > Connectivity or Connection depending on the term used on your device. Turn Bluetooth on and make your device visible to other Bluetooth devices. Then other Bluetooth devices, such as your computer, are allowed to find your mobile device, and can start connecting to it. Refer to the user guide of your device for more detailed instructions.
    Troubleshooting Bluetooth connections
Bluetooth is not available for you to select In the list of connection types, the Bluetooth option can in some cases be disabled. Should this happen, the reason might be one of the following:
You do not have appropriate Bluetooth hardware or software installed on your computer. You have not turned Bluetooth on in the Bluetooth settings of your device.
You have not made your device visible to other Bluetooth devices.
To edit the Bluetooth settings of your device, go to Settings > Connectivity or Connection depending on the term used on your device. Turn Bluetooth on and make your device visible to other Bluetooth devices. Then click Search again.

  • N97 Mini with Ovi Suite 2 unable to transfer anyth...

Hi. My wife has just got the new N97 Mini. It has the latest firmware and the Ovi suite is the latest version. The problem is I installed Ovi Suite and it asked me to connect mt device, so I plugged in the supplied USB cable, My windows vista said new device and started updating drivers,  it then said there was a problem and then the sevice layer in windows said  there a a incompatibility with the device driver, in windows device manager there were 2 entries for the n97 mini, one of them had a yellow excalamation mark next to it. Ovi suite said it had detected the phone but I can not move anything onto the phone, I then uninstalled Ovi suite and tried to connect via bluetooth, the connection seems to be fine as windows device manager only has 1 entry, and Ovi suite detected the phone, how ever I stiil cannot move any files onto the phone, the only way to move files to the phone is to select mass storage and then I can drag and drop using windows. Any help would be great. Thanks.

    Hi pearsonquinn,
    Could you check following:
    - System information (Help - About Nokia Ovi Suite - System information - Copy text to clipboard)
    - N97 mini SW version
    - PC model
    - Can you see the phone icon in Nokia Ovi Suite main page?
    - Are messages and photos visible in Ovi Suite?
    - Can you transfer files to portable device visible in My computer?
    - Could you attach screenshots of following situations you are describing:
" ...the sevice layer in windows said there a a incompatibility with the device driver..."
    and

  • C5-03 : ovi suite can not connect net.

My C5-03 can surf net individaully.
With OVI suite it can connect via only bluetooth and not via USB.
    Sync is possible via bluetooth.
When I try to connect net in laptop using  ovi suite via bluetooth,no connectivity is possible.
    What is the solution?

Around the same time today I was having issues with OVI Suite giving similar message but wondered whether more to do with software update side of things. In my case already updated and working yesterday so shall try another time after re-booting PC.
Nokia Software Updater can need Firewall to allow the following processes:
    nsl_host_process.exe
    nsu_ui_client.exe

I've been delving into the daemon on the phone that appears to be responsible for "pc suite" communication with Ovi suite / PC suite..
I'd love some linux support for just that.. stuff an entire suite, it'd be good to have some low level support.. integration with existing linux software would be much easier to achieve, then..
It looks horridly complex.. makes debugging a PITA
