N91 8GB differences?

hey people,
I recently sent my N91(4gb) in for repair because the hard disk was failing, i recieved my replacement phone yesterday and on checking the HDD size its 8gb (woo! upgrade!) now im a bit confused as the phone itself is silver, the same as the 4gb one but i want to know if its got the internals of an 8gb one because i wouldnt mind buying a stereo bluetooth headset if it is (the 4gb one didnt support this).
Are hard drives swappable in the N91's and were there any software features added to the 8gb edition which i could see to confirm wether i have an 8gb in the body of a 4gb?
my firmware is
V2.10.013
15.09.06
RM-43
N91 (01.01)
thanks for any help you might be able to give

This hard drive thing you're talking about has been discussed before, and i'm sure an 8gb will fit into a 4gb device. Check this thread out.

If you took it to a Nokia Service Centre i don't think it will void the warranty if they have changed the hard drive, In the meantime i think you should contact the service centre/repair centre who changed the hard drive for more details, they may have changed some other hardware in the phone.
Reason why is a 8GB hard drive with a 220mhz ARM-9 is a crazy combination, it's making the phone slower. They could have also changed tthe processor.Message Edited by 6280 on 04-Mar-2007

  • System errors on N91 8GB

The warranty on my N91 8GB has recently expired and since it has my phone has started acting wierd, it gives me system errors when frequently, sometimes it drops the network and will not detect any if i do a manual search, the music players acting funny its skips songs ramdomly even though i have set the playlist as repeat all and the shuffle function is off...
all these errors seem to be fixed temperorly if i switch off the phone and start it again to be switched off again when i come back from my break at work (
how do i fix these errors??
Also had another question would using Bose Tripod headsets on my N91 drain out the battery faster??

About the problems, unfortunately it's hard to know what can be causing the problems.
What I've done in the past if this has happened is RESET the device with *#7370# and then start installing stuff again. IF it still acts up then I also format the HDD. It's a pain having to load it again but if you send it for service they will reflash it and re-format it anyway.
About the BOSE headphones question, I don't think the BOSE headphones will drain the battery any faster than other headphones. Do you know what the impedance is on these headphones?

  • Nokia N91 8GB A2DP support 3rd Party Stereo Bluet...

    Hi...
Can Anyone confirm that does Nokia N91 8GB's A2DP(stereo Bluetooth) support 3rd Party software Stereo Bluetooth Sound? like
LCG Jukebox, Smartmovie , Power Movie etc...
    N73/N73ME A2DP does not support 3rd party apllication (LCG Jukebox,Powermoive etc)bluetooth stereo sound.But The set (N73/73ME)A2DP support only default music,video player(real player)stereo Bluetooth.
I want to know real things abt Nokia N91 8GB A2DP with 3rd party software..

I have a Nokia N73 and a Parrot MKi9000. I wanted to use the Internet Radio application to listen to streaming radio via bluetooth AD2P connection. Nokia N73 firmware updated last, supports this standard, but only for applications installed directly with the operating system: (Standard Media Player and RealPlayer).
If you start only "Internet Radio" sound does not pass through the bluetooth connection, but I noticed that also enable the media player to hear the sum of the two sounds.
The solution I found is that of creating an MP3 file of about 30 minutes with a background of ambient music very low (not too much else if there is total absence of sound, such as interruptions in the buffer, the system soon after it disconnects). I set the standard player so that will loop through the MP3 in the background.
Then I turned on the application "Internet Radio" and select the station to play. Once started streaming the music you hear on the car speakers.
I think this trick may be useful not only to listen to the radio via the internet, but also for other applications that do not activate by default bluetooth AD2P streaming and other Nokia devices, or other Bluetooth hands-free systems.
    Ciao

    - Hands free speaker is the same as the old N91, maybe it works a bit better but it's marginal.
    - If you had problems hearing the ring tone in N91 you would probably still have problems with this phone
    - Visualizations are good. Since the visualizations are the Album art, bars and the o-scope, they don't really require any type of high resolution to look good.
    - I've tried all kinds of phones and still the phone I use for Music is the N91 8GB, it's just the best, and it's not that bad once you load up the right applications.
    Another important post off loco.
Though I think the visualization speed shoul be increased.
So, N91 is better than N81? (In term of audio quality?)

  • N91 8GB chinese product code

Hi All, Does anybody know about Chinese languages product code of N91 8GB ? My mean is which product code of N91 8GB has Chinese language ?
    N8,N97,N96,N86,N95 8GB,N85,5800,N79,N918GB,N82, N81, N93, N80, N73ME, N70, 6680, 6600,5320,5130,7610,7650,,SIE SX1...................

Well I got the phone on the 02 network, therefore it came with all the 02 themes et all preloaded onto the phone. The phone itself isnt branded (there are no O2 gliphs or markings on the handset for example) - but im guessing that the firmware is the O2 variant.
I might go and get it unlocked though if that can be done, because waiting for operators to release "verified" firmware updates takes around 6 months by which theres another 3 versions out...Message Edited by hapkuab on 14-Sep-2006

  • N91 8GB care of hard disk

I had a n91 4gb a year back and used it only for 2 months.as after that it gave hdd problems. now i have the n91 8gb and was wondering if it had to fall from my hand would it give hdd probs. like hanging??
At last a nseries phone im truely happy with THE N82

Interesting.. I did not know that the Nokia N91s has accelerometer built in. I love this feature which I miss in Nokia N80 or should be there in Nokia N95. this will help in playing some games where you dont need to bust the keys even systems like the Nokia 5500 3D sensor.. wow..
Recently, I watched a youtube video where an IBM hack allowed using the IBM laptop accelerometer, used for hard disk safety purpose only, to play games by moving the whole laptop !!! this wont be feasible unless you are a gym freak but it is possible to do the same on a mobile phone .. hehe.. of course with delayed response

  • N91 8GB speaker

Is the N91 8GB speaker better than the old N91 4GB??
At last a nseries phone im truely happy with THE N82

Yeah, but if you like to listen to Music the N91 Music player and controls are the best way to go.
Not to mention the audio quality and now BT stereo.
I tried N93 but once I was used to the N91 music player it was difficult to use the N93 and not enough can be said about having with you an 8 GB of storage. (N93 only had a 512 MB card).
I've used it to transfer big files from work to home, to store temporary files, etc.
These past holiday season I had my playlists made for Dance music, listening, etc. and took the audio cable and a pair of powered speakers with me to some get togethers with friends and it was kool to have all this music with me and DJ for everyone with the N91. Everyone really enjoyed it.

  • N91 8gb vs N95 8gb vs N81 8gb

Want to buy one of the three
i just care about the music (quality)and about talking on the phone....thats all
please suggest which is the best!!!!

I would have to agree. If you are serious about audio quality through the 3.5mm connector then the best one is N91 8GB.
The speaker of the N91 is good but not very loud so if you are going to do a lot of listening through the Hands Free speakers then the N81 is probably better for that.
But an N91 8GB with external BT speakers is best. Also you can get an external GPS module like the LD-4W and use Maps to navigate this works very good. You put the LD4W in your car windshield (suction cup) and connect via BT to N91. GREAT!
Anyway the cons of the N91 8GB:
    - Size (it's on the bigger size)
    - Screen rez (low rez screen compared to newer devices)
    - Limited ammount of RAM and Phone memory (not very good for multitasking or installing lots of programs)
    - No expansion beyond the 8GB
    - Hands free speaker is not very loud
    PROS:
    - Best audio quality in the 35 mm connector
    - Price (I've heard that now a days it's come down a lot in price)
    - Stainless steel housing (very nice color and feel in your hand)
    - Very resistant HDD, you can count on this baby working even if you drop it many times
    - Dedicated remote connector. This makes it possible to use the keys in the remote without having audio clicks (N95)
    - Lock switch
    - One key music access. just press play
    - Decent video capabilities for video playing. But not as good as newer devices.

  • N91 4GB and N91 8GB, Are they competing against iP...

    Hi,
I'd just like to know, Is Nokia Competing agaisnt iPods??
There was an iPod 4gb version - pairs with N91 4GB but then an iPod 8Gb BlACK version came out, then a N91 8GB BLACK version also.
Is Nokia Competing agaisnt iPods or have they just updated the N91 4Gb with a Double size Hard drive?
    What does everyone think?
    Nokia N95
    V 20.0.015
    0546553

    I would hope they compete!
Actually, so far as I'm concerned, any phone that plays MP3s beats an iPod hands down simply because I have to carry a phone and having one that plays MP3s means I don't have to also carry something else.
I used to carry lots of devices - phone, PDA, FM radio, MP3 player etc etc - and I had pockets like hamster cheeks. I'm totally sold on having one device that does an acceptable job of a bunch of things rather than having lots of separate devices that just do one thing, not matter how well.
Re the iPhone, I guess I'll wait to see what it actually offers when it comes out. The initial announcment was of a nice looking phone that would be 2 years out of date by the time it was released.Message Edited by patc on 09-Mar-2007

Nope, besides Nokia stopped production of N91/8GB. It is natural newer FW for N91 is abandoned. The last was 2.20.008 and it was released AGES ago-and the phone is still buggy. I gotta disagree the N91 8GB is still as buggy as N91. It has 3.10 and is very stable on my N91 8GB.

    Hi guys...
please help me in identifyng softwares and games for my N91 8gb...
    thnks

Any SW or games that are designed to work with S60 3rd. Edition should work with N91.
Just keep in mind that N91 is not QVGA so some themes or apps that ONLY work in QVGA mode may not work in the N91.
