N91 new firmware, unable to fast forward or rewind

I just upgraded my Nokia N91 to the new 2.00.052 firmware and run into a problem. After the upgrade, I can no longer fast forward, rewind or pause tracks encoded in eAAC+ format. If I do attempt to do any of the above actions, the song pauses and just won't unpause. However, the problem doesn't occur with songs encoded in mp3 format.
I have tried formatting the hard drive and erasing the phone memory and updating the firmware again, but to no avail. I have been using the latest versions of PC Suite and Nokia Software updater.
This is pretty annoying, as these are fundemental operations that one might want to do when playing a song. And I love the eAAC+ format, don't want to go back to mp3.
Does anyone have any suggestions at all?
Cheers

Well, I don't use eAAC+ songs that much, but I can confirm that I have the same problem
It only plays the song from the begining.

  • Z1 Unable to fast forward/rewind music

I wondered if anyone could help me with this. Within the Sony Walkman app the function 'Press and hold' to fast forward or rewind doesnt work. When you use this feature on my phone it just skips tracks on release of the button regardless of the length of time the button is held down. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me? Cant find any similar issues searching round the web. Thanks in advance
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Are you in the overview screen where you just have a small song bar at the bottom of the screen and the screen is showing your other albums, if yes, than you can't fast forward or rewind. Press on the track that your are listening to, to reach the screen that is showing the cover art of the song and some sort of bigger track controls. On this screen you should be able to fast forward and rewind the song.

  • Subtitle buttons - fast-forward and rewinding issue

I am new to DVD Studio Pro 4 and I have project that uses a subtitle button over a video track to provide users with the ability to go "back" to the previous menu - the menu in which they selected the track.
There is a problem using this method however, when fast-forward or rewind is pressed, then the track starts to play again, the back button is now hosed. My thought is that this is because of the chapter markers not being refreshed in the middle of a subtitle, only at the begining and end like bookends.
Is there a way around this? If not, are there any buggy issues with locking down the user controls for fast-forward and rewind? Any help would be much appreciated...
    -charlie

You can lock out the User Ops for Fast Forward Rewind or whatever you want. Probably a good idea if you are using the track as a menu effectively.
If however the track is amovie and you want them to go back to the menu where they selected it you can target the menu for any track to go back to a specific menu. Click on the track and check out the Inspector near the bottom where it syas Remote Control. Target the menu you want people to go to back to when they press Menu on their Remote

  • Ipod 123 update no fast forward or rewind

Since I updated my ipod firmware to v. 1.2.3 I can no longer fast forward or rewind music or audio podcasts with the fwd / back buttons or using the scrolling timeline. What's happening?

I am having this issue as well. I just upgraded to version 1.2.3 on my 30GB iPod video two days ago. I found while listening to my podcasts on the way to work today that I could no longer fast-forward or reverse. When I tried to do so, it started the audio over from the beginning and from there became completely unresponsive as far as advancing or reversing was concerned.

  • Why can I no longer use my headphones remote to fast forward or rewind music videos on iPhone since upgrading to ios7?

Why can I no longer use my headphones remote to fast forward or rewind music videos on iPhone since upgrading to ios7?

The YouTube app is not included in iOS 6 (I think because the licensing agreement with google ended). You will either need to try one of the YouTube apps from the store (there is an iPhone optimised app from google, and other people have said that they are working on an iPad version), or (if this isn't the version that you have tried) try accessing the mobile version via Safari : http://m.youtube.com (you can create a home screen shortcut for the site)

  • Crash when fast-forward or rewinding in videos

My 5G 80GB crashes when fast-forward or rewinding while playing a video. I can fast-forward about 5 times, then it crashes and I can't fast-rewind, it crashes the first time I try it. My videos are 5 minutes or 30 minutes in length and it doesn't matter which I play :/
I also noticed that when I play a video without fast-forwarding or anything, the iPod crashes at the end of the video...
Any suggestions? I'd really like to use that feature on my iPod, with the click wheel it is so comfortable to do that.

    Thanks for your fast reply!
And sorry for my late response...
I've tried the Five Rs multiple times, they didn't help. I also tried those sample videos, although only 3 of them can be played on the ipod: sample_iPod, sample_iTunes and sample_mpeg4... my iPod doesn't crash in these videos... I used this program to convert my videos for my iPod: http://www.ipod-video-converter.org/
    I used mpeg4 compression.

  • Fast Forward and Rewind keyboard shortcuts in Log and Capture

In FCP, I want to assign the Fast Forward and Rewind buttons (in the Log and Capture mode) to buttons on the keyboard. I've assigned the functions using the Keyboard Layout in the Tools menu but it doesn't seem to be working like it should. In Log and Capture when I use the mouse to press the Fast Forward button, FCP stops the miniDV deck and fast forwards the tape as fast as possible without showing any picture. However, when I invoke the keyboard shortcut I created all I get is the picture moving a few fames per second instead of the tape stopping and fast forwarding as fast as possible. The same happens with the Rewind keyboard shortcut as well. Any ideas as to why, and how I might be able to fix this?
The computer I'm currently working on is a Dual 2 GHz PowerMac G5, 2.5 GB RAM, Final Cut Studio (Final Cut Pro 5.0.4).

When I press the fast forward or rewind button while logging a miniDV tape the video stops and then the tape fast forwards or rewinds at a MUCH faster rate than L or J ever give me. That is the behavior I am trying to get from a keyboard shortcut.
Not possible via keyboard shortcuts, unfortunately.
Even if you map the Rewind and Fast Forward functions to keys in a Custom Keyboard Layout - for those who didn't know, yes, there are specific commands for those functions even though they are not mapped by default - those shortcuts will not within the L&C window. We're stuck pressing the buttons.
Forgot to mention: the only time you're able to invoke the true fast forward or rewind function is using Shift-I/O (that is, Go to In Point or Out Point). Of course that only works if you have the necessary In/Out point set...

  • Unable to fast forward.

I have the latest version of Quicktime installed on my MacPro.
I recently installed the real player app and since then I am unable to drag the Quicktime cursor to fast forward through a movie.
This occurs with any .wmv movie. Even though I have the latest Flip4Mac installed.
I have tried trashing all of the real player app and files that I can find, to no avail.
    Any ideas?

    From RP support site:

  • Unable to fast forward through podcasts

I've recently noticed that I can't fast forward through podcasts on my iPod touch, specifically with NPR All Songs Considered ones (I don't listen to any other ones, so it may not be specific to these ones). Its annoying because I can't pick up from where I left off listening. Every time I try using the bar to move through the podcast, it starts over from the beginning. Is this intentional? Is it specific to the podcast?

This is a long standing problem with iPods and appears to be specific to podcasts that get encoded using LAME, arguably the best available encoder anywhere.
From what I can tell from searching over the years, this is due to the iPod looking at a very old style header (XING) instead of the proper field in the LAME set header. This is as near as I can figure out from the posts.
This causes problems like the iPod thinks the track is shorter than it really is (a good example of this is a long MP3 like one disc of an audiobook) and stops prematurely. Very annoying.
In the case of the NPR podcasts, the bug in the iPod causes crashes when you try to fast forward or seek.
Neither of these problems appear to be related in any way to "remember playback position", so don't necessarily go down that route.
An easy way to check for this issue on a podcast is to highlight it, and then right click, select Get Info. If you see LAME as the encoding, look out, your iPod will possibly not play it correctly.
These same podcasts play back absolutely fine on any other player, and over the years it has been consistently narrowed down to a bug in the iPod.
I sure wish Apple would fix this. I just had the same problem with a recent podcast on my 2nd gen Nano, so we loaded it onto my son's brand new iPod. I thought surely Apple would have fixed this by now, but sure enough, still broke on the latest Nano version!

  • Unable to fast forward podcasts

    Hi everyone,
I have been having problems with trying to fast forward podcasts. On the occasion that I have to stop my podcast halfway through, I am sometimes unable to start at the point where I start. I've tried fast forward to the point where I've stopped but am not able to do so.
Can someone please tell me if we can actually fast forward podcasts? I've tried the 5R's and it still doesn't. I vague recall being able to do so in the past.
Please advise. Thank you in advance.

I have the same problem as well. Whenever I want to fast forward certain podcasts they restart from the beginning. On my other Ipod the same podcast can be fast forwarded fine. I have tried a reset which oes not help. The hidden diagnostic commands indiciate that everything is ok. Does anyone have any answers?

  • Unable to Fast Forward Through A Song Without It Restarting the Song

    Hello,
I have a new 5th generation 80gb ipod. If I attempt to fast forward through a song, it moves the clock ahead, but then restarts the song. The same also occurs if I try to rewind back in during a song. At first, I thought it was a touch issue, but it is not.
Also, when a song starts to play, the clock clicks off 3 or 4 seconds, then starts back at 0:00, but the song keeps playing normally. Any suggestions? Thanks.

sounds like a bug on the new ipods to me

  • Current firmware let you fast forward through audio files w/ virtual button

I know it didn't allow you to fast forward/rewind using the virtual buttons with earlier firmware. I do that all the time on my 5.5G iPod to skip through commercials.
I think with earlier firmware that functionality worked on video, but for some reason NOT audio.
Also, if the Touch turns off, or you switch programs or something, does it "remember" what you were playing last when you go back to the audio player program? Or would I get stuck drilling through menus every single time I do something else or it switches off?

My first guess is that the camera is set to 12bit audio. OnLocation handles that correctly sometimes, but it other times it basically assumes 16bit audio, which produces a Chipmunks effect. To the best of my recollection, however, when the player is in that funky state, only the audio is affected; there's no stutter or fast play of the video. So you may be running into a different problem entirely, but let's start by ruling out the 12bit explanation. To check this, you can either find the setting on the camera or check the metadata in OL--just type "Audio Sample Type" in the Metadata panel's search box.

  • Can't Fast-Forward or Rewind when iTunes is minimized

When iTunes is minimized and I hold down the right arrow to fast forward, the track only advances like 6 sec and continues to play. BUT when it's expanded it continues to fast-forward until I let go.
This never happend before I upgraded to iTunes6.
Is anyone else having this problem?

Really? Sorry to hear that. It fixed it just fine for me. (I say that now, but watch it not work for me soon. heh) I didn't have to re-start for it to work, so.
I wonder what it is that is making it work or not work for different users.
