N91 problem

Hi, I have a problem with my nokia N91. Recently I have upgraded my phone's firmware to version 2.00.052 and from then i can't install signed .sis and .sisx files on my HDD. The problem is really bugging me, but I don't know how to fix it. Also when I try to install these files to phone's memory, though it installs, but the programs and games seem to crash on execution or in program/game menu. Is there any solution to this?

PC suite can be a bit dodgy. Make sure you are only using it to backup your phone memory and not the HDD (see the HDD user guide that the User advice tips I posted points too). Use USB MS etc. ie) After a sw update you should re-install all your sis files from the beginning again etc
Also if its your contacts you care the most about (I know i do) Im not sure if you know you can back them up using the HDD. Go into contacts, select them all and mark the, Then copy them to the HDD. It puts them in a folder called "other". Then drag and drop to PC

N91 problem sending SMS with non English character...

Hello I own a N91 4GB version. I have upgraded to version 2.20.008. I checked recently and have not found a newer version available for download.
When composing an SMS a counter appears on the upper part of the screen, which shows how many characters remain and how many SMS(s) will be sent.
When I use my native language, i.e. Greek, the counter starts as usual with 160 characters. When I type the first character it drops to 69 characters and then it works correctly decreasing the counter by 1. The result is that the phone sends more than 1 SMS even if there are no more than 160 characters.
The problem does not appear if I use English characters.
Is there a way to fix this? Do other users have the same problem?

I haven't seen N91's exact menu but i suppose it has similarities with my N95. They both run S60.

N91, PROBLEM DOWNLOADING UPGRADE SOFTWARE

I CANNOT DOWNLOAD ANY UPGRADES FROM NET, INCL. FIRMWARE.
I AM USING THE CORRECT CABLE (DKE-2 USB) AND I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT PC SUITES...STILL NO JOY. ALSO BACK-UP FAILS, STATING NO CONNECTION TO PHONE, ALTHOUGH PHONE IS CONNECTED. IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH SOFTWARE ALREADY ON PHONE. PLSE HELP..

My camera of my n91 stopped working and showing error: general feature not supported what should I do I don't think its hardware problem in camera I just taken out and refitted that but what could be d problem can it be software problem.

It might be worth you trying to do the following resets:
Soft Reset:
Enter into your keypad *#7780# and when prompted, enter the default passcode 12345. If you have changed the code, it will be the code you changed it to.
A backup will not be needed as this will not delete any data.
Hard Reset:
This will erase all data on your device, so a backup is recommended before you do this.
Once backed up, enter *#7370# and when prompted, enter 12345 as the default passcode.

N91 Problems! Anyone else?

I love my new phone, but it drives me mad!
The battery only lasts a day if that - and no im not using it all day every day!
Wont accept itunes (surprised? neither was i)
Having trouble transferring music, will refresh but doesnt seem to add the music until it feels like it, even though its on the drive.
Theres a few design flaws, but i have to live with that (camera on back even though its a video phone,extra small buttons, only a minute for the recorder, its big and heavy!)

my battery life was rubbish too, but ive found that turning off the dual band reception vastly improves standby battery life this setting can be found under tools/settings/network/network mode. switch it to GSM and itll last a lot longer in standby.
other things which help battery life are not having bluetooth on permanently, not showing the avalibility of wireless LAN's and closing background processes (most applications close automatically, but the nokia podcasting beta dosent, and sucks up a little more juice)
however, even after all this i have also found that after an afternoon of radio/music or some moderate usage, the battery does drain rapidly. the best and only real solution is to have the charger on your bedside table and leave it charging overnight.
when you add music via usb the N91 usually asks you if you would like to refresh your music library due to a recent usb synchronisation, if it dosent you can force one by going to the music main menu, then choosing refresh music library, this should add all your songs to the music library.
as for the itunes thing, nokia teamed up with microsoft to provide WMA compatibility on this phone (not DRM), so no AAC+ protected content from apple im afraid.
My video recorder allows me to record indefinately (well.. it says 1hr)have a look at the settings of your video recorder and make sure its using the hard disk as storage, if it is, you might be nearing your capacity (how?!)

Nokia N91 Problem

I started transfering music from cds to the N91,I got to 278 tunes&then after that any cds/songs I send across to it from cds it plays back all crackly&desorted!! I can recieve songs from any mobiles via bluetooth&play back no problems but when I try from my laptop with cds it no longer works.
Ive formated the hard drive&that didnt work so now I can only recieve music via phones.
Can anyone help please????

What are you using on your PC to rip music?, which format are you using?, what is the bitrate?, how do you transfer the files to the N91?, what did you do after the 278 song?
I have over 500 songs in the N91 plus videos and pictures and have no problems, I want to help but you need to provide more information about what you are doing.

N91 Problems

HI there,
I'm having few issues with my N91 which are:
-While I’m playing the music, and I receive a call. The phone “freezes” …I have to restart the phone (by taking off the battery) to turns back on.
-Also the phone turns by it self.
I have changed the battery, I have installed the latest firmware few times but still the same problem
i took to a local cell phone repair shop since Nokia Canada doesn't support N91, I was told I need to " flash ' the phone even with flashing the local technician still is not sure. if that would solve the problem

Nu version is 2.20.043.
If the restart issues stil remain then I would strongly suggest y to take it to NSC anyway.
Cause since I Updated my N91 to 2.10 it did not give me any pain and currently I Have no plan to upgrade to 2.20.
Heard it has made a little development in ram uses.

ps:defragmenter gave me horrible pain.One thing though. Defragment usually needs about 20% of free space on the Hard Drive. That means about 1.6 GB of free space.

It should be in yr PC but I wont use it for N91 since I have more than that required space and once I tried it stopped at 3%, i disconnected it,again connected it as USB Drive and it showed me some of the worst language icons I have ever seen in my life.I also cried.

Nokia n91 problems

i am having so many problems with my nokia n91, it is unbelievable.
. i cant connect to wifi, i have found an open source, set, access points, cant connect. (spoke to numorous techs at nokia, they all say its all correct).
. music screen keeps freezing, unable to get access.
. cant play music through mp3 scroll at front of phone (changed equalizer settings) twice, each time cant use scroll after.
(as equalizer settings are in music, i cant access, as screen freezes)
. same as above with earphone control
(whats the point of having settings if they mess your phone up?
. sometimes phone cant find music, i have to play, each one individually, or press repeat all to play them, very annoying when you have to do it regular.
. standby screen freezes regular.
. i have one mp3 song, set for all contacts, some contacts have a different ring tone when they call, i have checked all my contacts and settings, they all show as using the same mp3.
. when my battery runs out, the screen saver disappears and the origanal screen comes back on phone, it is very annoying, having to keep changing my screen saver back.
is this phone dodgy or what.
i am going to visit my local nokia support centre next week, but if anyone can help me in the mean time, i would be very gratefull.

What programs have you installed?, are they installed in the phone memory or the HDD?
How much memory do you have free in the phone memory?
What applications do you have running when this happens?, Long press of the Menu key (right hand side key) will show the open applications scroll with the joystick to see them.
It's very easy to blame the device, but sometimes it's something we do that causes the device to miss behave. I've experienced some problems with some of the applications that have been poping out for S60 Rel 3.0. It got so bad I had to re-format everything.
Now the phone is working correctly again. I didn't install anything. Just added music, pictures and videos, and everything works fine.

so i am asking anyone own it to send me this key

It is actually up to you to backup your Phone memory (ROM) using PC suite (and you HDD using USB Mass storage etc) before you bring the device in for repair. Sure these were the promotional sings that came with the phone but how do they know you did not have additional DRM activation keys for ringtones etc in memory
It may have been that the service centre guy the first time was not busy and did you a favour (backed up your phone ROM data, they never will do the HDD) but the reality is the do not backup your data.
The centre I went to was quite clear on this with me (thats why I went home and backed things up before I switched to 1.10)

N91 Problem - Breaks between songs

Can anyone tell me why the music player in my N91 creates breaks between songs. It is a major gripe for me because i listen to a lot of DJ mixes. as the music is playing and the second song is being mixed into the first one the music suddenly pauses for a second or two then immediately starts with the next song. Is there a cure for this? or do we have to wait till Nokia actually does something about this with a firmware update? i'm sitting with a lot of cd's i can't listen to because of this problem

But its not possible yet now.
BECAUSE,
the WMP 11 of my PC plays songs without any break.
Do y know why?
Because the CDs are remastered with that option.
But notice:when the WMP or whatever that ripps off the tracks of the CDs they [I am sorry] ripp each song and thus require break in the songs.
And the N91 plays the songs or the RIPPED-OFF songs in it that means with break-up ripped offs.
Like LPs HYBRID THEORY:consider this album's each song is technically mixed with each other and when we play in the CD systems or in PCs they are also played gapless.
But once they are ripped off at the same time they are broken into pieces.
But if y know any software that ripp off CD tracks without breaking the lines let me know.
I have been disturbed since WMPs inability to ripp off tracks with the breaks

Nokia N91 phone memory problem

I have owned this Nokia N91 for a year and 9 months. Phone memory is a problem as i cannot recieve any messages. The message, not enough memory to recieve message(s), delete some data. I have taken absolutely everything off the phone memory except messages, contacts, and calender data, yet i still have something taking up 14 of my 15MB's of memory. What can i do as i can't recieve any messages. I have tried allocating messaging memory to the hard drive but i am presented with the same problem. Please help as i need to keep this phone working till May.

N91 application manager problem

hello, i use N91 n after hard disk format themes installed do not appear in application manager(not a single),so i cant delete(uninstall) them.
But I managed to uninstall those themes by deleting them from the hard disk using my phone as "Mass Storage" device, but the themes remain on the log in App.Manager and if you try to reinstall them you get the message "unable to install file".
I was wondering is there a way to clear the log so that the theme can be reinstalled or any other solution.. wat do u think is the problem???
my application manager was working properly before n then suddenly it started giving this problem.

From what I can deduce, the hard disk format removed everything on the hard disk and not phone memory. Depending where you stored your themes, it could still be in phone memory, unless you selected hard disk. What you could do however, is try to download the themes again and overwrite the data on the hard disk and application log. I don't think there is a way to clear the log unless you do a hard reset, which will erase everything from the phone, so consider it only as a last resort and backup your phone before you do it.

N91 Sim Card Problems

Hi Have been using my N91 since September without any problems up until a couple of days ago, when out of the blue I was getting "SIM CARD REGISTRATION FAILED" so I phoned O2 they said there was no problem with there Sim Card. I have tried the Sim in another phone and works OK so then tried a T-Mobile Sim Card, that registers but won't let me make or receive any calls, there is an icon on the screen that according to the manual is "ALL CALLS TO THE PHONE ARE DIVERTED TO ANOOTHER NUMBER" but when I try and cancel all diverts it come up with operation failed.
I have been looking on here for a solution but I can't seem to find anybody that has been having the same fault, now I have tried the *#7370# & *#7780# with and without the Sim in the phone, plus I have formatted the HDD but still the same problem.
Hopefully someone can help please!!!!

I had the same problem, but after updating the software version the problem get resolved. Try to update the software version. If your current version is up to date then re-install the software once again and hopefully you will get rid of the problem.
Go to Product Support to download the software.

N91 major problems

Within the first month of my having an n91 I was experiencing problems with the phone. It just hangs daily and does not allow you to even restart the phone without removing the battery. I thought it was a software problem so I had the firmware upgraded - three times! Now it has been sent off for repair. Has anybody had the same problem with the phone and if so what was the result?

hey guys. My n91 has given me probs over the last month.
I opened the bak cover one day. it gave warning msg. i put it bak on. then it immediately said hard drive unavailable.
After a couple days it came around. it said it needed a format. So i formatted it. it worked fine for a few days then when i'm playing music or something while accessing hard drive, then it wil freeze. Hard drive goes unavailable again. It comes around earlier then it needs another reformat. I do it, it works fine again. Then it goes faulty again after a few days. i eventually had to format it like 7 times over the past month.
silly phone. now i just dont fiddle too much.
can anyone assist me.
o yes i have also installed newest software update recently. one format ago. V2.10.013
I'm not too sure but i think when i opened the bak cover at that time, the disk was still being accessed and the sudden decrease in air pressure may have jerked the read/write head and may have possibly damaged it. You should know that all hard drives need a certain amount of air pressure equilibrium. That accounts for that hole you see on hard drives saying "do not cover".

N91 images in gallery problem

hi evry1 im new,
Just got my nokia n91 but already got a problem wich seems similar 2 evry1 else, i have loaded all of my pictures onto the hardrive using nokia pc suite, on the computer it says that my pictures are there on my phone but when i open the images folder in the gallery, they aren't there but my hardrive memory says that they are, so any ideas on how to get them back into the gallery?

no i just copied the pictures from my computer folder to the n91 images folder on the hard drive, it does say they are their when i click on the n91 images hardrive while connected to the computer and when i go onto the memory details of the hardrive it says the images section is being used so the pictures are actually on the phone they just arent being shown in the gallery.
but ive just found out that if i change the camera settings so that when i take a picture it saves in the phone memory instead of the hard drive, i then go onto gallery and the pictre i took is there so could it be possible that the gallery is automatically showing the pictures in the phones memory instead of the ones in the hard drive?
if so does anybody know how to change this?
