N93 firmware???

It seems that Nokia has definitively forgotten about N93! I'm still waiting for new frimware that will fix some of the bugs that i found in the last on 20.0.058-or something...
For example, when i record video, wich works fine when in automatic mode, and if i put it in night mode it shows only black&white colors!!!??? What is that about??? The phone that is supposed to be all about video, optical zoom and everything, can not work properly in night mode video recording... This bugs me alot. And this is not only bug, also sometimes, it just stops responding when i'm trying to call someone. I keep pushing the "green" button, but, nothing. Are there people, N93 users, who are experiening the same things??? So, NOKIA, PLEASE GIVE AS ANOTHER FIRMWARE, WHERE THESE BUGS WILL BE FIXED, so we can continue using N93 and the other phones untill the rest of our lifes... (just joking )) But really, i think we deserved that much...

Yes, but i think that ngage was released for n95 after they released a new frimware for this device, so i'm thinking, maybe that's a hold in releasing ngage for n93???!!! Nevertheless, what you wrote is true, n93 users seem like excluded gruop of people, but the phone was really expensive, and we did buy it, so really, we do deserve to be treated like the rest of nokia users. I know that this is probably just "blowing in the wind", but i can't help hoping that maybe they will hear us and finaly release a NEW FIRMWARE for the n93... I really don't want to change the n93 because of the camera, optical zoom and all, it's a really great phone. But still, i'm having idiotic problems with it, the ones i wrote about in the begining, and i really don't know why is it such a problem fixing these bugs and releasing new firmware... ??!!!

Daniel, have you tried emptying your phone memory? It might be that the update is not working, cuz the phone runs out of memory. Try clearing your browsers cache and cookies, deinstalling all software installed in phone memory, disable any downloaded theme, empty your mailbox (if it is in phone-mem), and move your photo's and videos to your memory card. Then reboot and try again.

  • Nokia N93 (firmware V20) issues

    Hello,
I bought (on February 1st) a Nokia N93 that I quickly upgraded to firmware V20.
Even with that firmware, I still have some very annoying issues :
    (1) I expected to personnalize my ring tones on the calling number basis, like on my previous Nokia telephone. Although I think that I found how to do this, it doesn't seem to work : the calling number is correctly received, but the telephone doesn't seem to make the link with the corresponding contact list entry.
    (2) There seems to be two different web browsers on this telephone, one for the Internet, and another for the WAP.
The WAP browser seems to have a lot of trouble in correctly displaying pictures in WAP pages : about one picture out of two is shown as a (about) 2x2 pixels tiny "picture". In order to correct it, I have to move my N93 screen to the landscape position, and next to move it back to its previous place.
    (3) When watching a video using the N93's Real Player, the video is not displayed full screen at the beginning. In order to do this, I have to STOP the video, then open the "Option" menu, and select the "Read in full screen" command. But when I watch it full screen, if I press any key, the display reverts to tiny size without stopping, and I have to restart the whole process for going back to full screen.
I didn't find any command for displaying full screen without stopping the video. Did I miss something ?
On such a tiny screen, I couldn't imagine anybody willing to watch a video otherwise than full screen ... Why isn't this the default, or at least being configurable for becoming it ?
    Best regards,
    Gingko

Yes, about "contacts", I already did that.
I can select the appropriate ring tone for each contact, that way.
But the problems is that, when this contact later makes a phone call to me, and although I correctly receive his phone number from my operator, and although his name and his phone number have correctly (hopefully) been entered in my contact list, and although I selected a ring tone for him (either directly or via contact groups), the N93 doesn't seem to be able to find the corresponding number at the time of the call, and the display shows only the phone number with the default ring tone, like if I never created this contact in the list.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Loooong period of latest N93 firmware.

Has anyone heard a rumor of next firmware after 20.0.058 for N93. There seems to be "practice" of buggy software sent out to market in Nokia. In My company there are lot of us who has nokia phones and every new superphone N95 etc.. has unacceptable range of bugs when released. After that new software is delivered few times during about 1 year period. Then new models arrive again with more and more bugs. This causes that there is no time to fix bugs in year old model anymore. This is annoying because in my company all workphones are nokia models. This are still only my opinions not my company's opinions.
i'm afraid there will not be any new firmware for N93, even when there is much bugs to fix.
    Yours truly

I'm really afraid of this behaviour, how can a user buy another Nokia phone, with the fear that soon it will not be supported and it will be left with a lot of bug?
How can a user buy the N93i, if he know that soon it will not be supported, because it will not sell much?
I, have to pathetically agrre with you.
Nokia may be forgot about N93, all their efforts are now pourin out on N93i, it is now supportin AADP via recent SWQ update.
While, there is no news bout N93.
I guess, the current N93 users should send e-mail to nokia under contact us .

  • N93 firmware update???

I just wondered if Nokia are ever going to release a new update for the Nokia N93? I've had my device since Jan 07 and thought updates for this device would be regular, but since the last update (version 20.0.058), i've neither seen nor heard whether there is a newer one in the pipeline. Does anyone know if or when we can expect one?
    Cheers people

Yeah that's the big question every N93 users are asking among themselves for more than a year - when will Nokia decide to launch a new firmware for this device?
Now that the new Ngage platform is released, I am curious to see if the N93 owners will fully support it since they have been more than patient for a hopefully new firmware that will improve their phones - any comments on that?

  • N93 firmware 11.0.034

when will be accessible new firmware for N93 ver. 11.0.034 on nokia software updater? thanks for answer.

I wish people (including Nokia it seems) wouldn't keep telling N93 owners to get an update at a Nokia Service Centre. In the UK at least, there is no update available.
You're just expected to put up with what is actually a faulty good until someone pulls their finger out at Nokia and sorts it. Why they don't properly test their software and get it right first time at Nokia I don't know. I guess it's because we're all brainwashed into thinking bug-riddled software is OK and that there's nothing wrong with having to wait for a fix and then having to fiddle around taking the phone to a service centre or plugging it into a PC.

  • Nokia n93 firmware problem

    fall seven times, standup eight

It is not possible for you to roll back updates. However, you could try resetting the phone.
Always remember to backup your phone before performing resets as your data may be lost.
    First try these
*#7780# - Restore factory settings - resets all the settings to the default
    *#7370# - Reformat your phone
If the above two don't work then try try the "3 finger deep reset" which is depress these three keys simultaneously "*" "3" "green phone" and then power on phone whilst keeping those same three keys depressed until you hear start-up tone.
This wipes everything in the Phone memory that is not part of the ROM.

  • N93 new firmware and media key

Ok, I asked this in the software update forum, but to no avail and i hope someone can answer me in here
I recently upgraded my N93 firmware to V20.
Now I've noticed that before the upgrading I could press and hold the media key to access the musicplayer instantly and after the upgrade when I press and hold the media key it starts the catalog download function.
I want to know if this was intended to act this way and if I could (and more importantly: how!) reassign the media key back to access the musicplayer with only press and hold.

i dont think he is holding down the key...maybe just pressing it...i also used a friends N93 and it has the same problem...sorry Nokia considers these things "feature"
im not sitting and waiting for 85.8mb to download again....i'll just sell my N93 and keep the N93i which by the way
    1.takes better photos
2.No black and white recording in night video mode
    3.Better display
    4.battery lasts(shockingly) as long as the N93
    5.auto focus in video mode
    6.no crashing(as yet)
    7.better build
8.can use the outer screen to take self potriats(reflection)
    9.better "looking" phone
    10.no fw problems
what i dont understand is how the N93i and N93 are the same phone only a few minor adjustments and Nokia cant seem to get the N93 working but the N93i is great....cant they apply the same fw on N93i to N93?

  • Any news yet?

Has there been any officially released information concerning the status of the nokia n93 firmware?

It will be on the front page of every newspaper in the US. There's no point in asking here; we are the last to know.
Although I'm puzzled by your choices; t-mobile is the worst carrier with the most limited coverage in the US. AT&T has much better coverage.
Verizon has already refused to support the iPhone, even before it came out. They were Apple's first choice. So talk to Verizon, not Apple. And Verizon's network is not compatible with GSM, which is the worldwide standard that the iPhone runs on. So it would have to be a specially engineered phone for Verizon (or Sprint). As Verizon plans to migrate off of their current technology by 2014 it would hardly pay to make a custom phone for Verizon's current obsolete network this close to its retirement, wouldn't it?

  • N81/N95 8GB Biggest Marketing Hype Ever from Nokia...

Nokia say N81/N95 8GB is a pure Music/Gaming phone. I had the N81 for 3 Days & I'll tell u straight the N81 sucks big time. Audio quality is poor via headsets n it doesnt stand a chance against N91. but quality of sound via speaekrs is better on N81. N81 can be classed as a gaming phone coz the games look awesome on it
Fink nokia should take off music from their slogan n keep only gaming on ! u would expect nokia to make better music phone as we move into the future but instead der music build quality just keeps going down the drain. If nokia say it is EU Restriction on volume how come Sony Ericsson phones dont have EU Restriction on volume? Its nokia they dont want to make a phone that does everyting All in One so thereofre they limit things on ther handset!
BTW the executive director for nokia was interviewd by the press & they askd if the nokia n81 will have same audio quality as n91 n he said yes but were is the quality gone? wat a lie. Nokia Executive Director/Nokia need to apologise to their customers n compensate those who bought a phone that cann not perform the job as N91 in music!
However finally the N81/N95 8GB are only going to get 2 - 4 firmware updates & that's, it going to become dead like the N93 firmware. where expensive model widout any updates! This is marketing hype by nokia. all der doing is just misleading customers n also adding 8GB wow! on n95 u can bu MicroSD upto 32GB n dat is a wow!
So becarefull peoples! btw me returned n81 back to vodafone.

  • Nokia N93 new firmware

When Nokia will provide us a new version of firmware for N93 whit A2DP – Bluetooth Stereo ?

It looks like there's not going to be any further firmware update for our n93. I wrote to Nokia Care Spain and this is what they answered me:
    Dear Mr. Parra:
Thank you for contacting Nokia Care.
There's no scheduled firmware update for this device. It was designed as a mobile phone that featured a videocamera, but it doesn't have any 3D acceleration chip, so it's not designed to be used as a gaming console.
Please, don't hessitate to contact us for future asking

    The original in Spanish:
    "Estimado Sr. Parra:
    Atentamente,

I can't believe it!! Nokia has decided to completely abbandon the users of the device that once was his flagship phone, and one of the most expensive ever!! I hope he isn't well informed, because the n93 does have a 3d hardware graphics acceleration chip...or not?

  • N93 suggestion for new firmware

The N93 does not allow for multiple button press (at the same time), which disqualifies it for gaming. That's to bad, because it has a 3D-accelerator chipset, TV-out, good buttons and landscape mode... PLEASE consider fixing this in the new firmware, PLEASE!

The most logical solution is to add a function to the firmware to navigate through albums or playlists.
The shuffle already has the ability to restart the playlist by pressing the play button 3 times.
Next playlist (or album) could be: tap '>>' 3 times ... while paused press the '>>' (because who really needs to fast forward while paused on a SHUFFLE that you can't see how far you're fast forwarding) ... while paused, press and hold the '>>' button.
And to put even more options (but might be too confusing or comlex).. would be to have different functions depending on whether or not shuffle or continuous play is selected.
IE: when most people are using shuffle, they still like to shuffle playlists or sets of music that they chose ... when people are using continuous play, they usually are listening to albums.
And to top it all off, even allowing people to manage their own firmware would be amazing, but make troubleshooting tough for the bonehead users. (Letting people decide what series of buttons would do what function).
Regardless of the way to solve the problem, shuffle's DO have a problem of being nothing more than 1 playlist, i think many would agree... yes?
