N93 software update ?

Has anyone tried the software update for the N93, what does it really fix? camera issues, bluetooth, program installs or add A2DP.
I'm a little nervous about doing the upgrade, I take it its not operator tied ie vodafone/o2 etc. as mine is unlocked and wish it to remian this way.
Downloading now will try this afternoon and leave feedback, please let me know if anyone else has found it a benefit.
Thanks

Ok reformated the phone so had enough memory to retry update, had to down load the 76 mb AGAIN !! for what reason Nokia only know.
Started update and guess what phone turned off, won't turn on install failed according to the software would I like to retry errrr! How as the software corrupted the phone and won't turn on! £500 of rubbish it is now.
So I though i'd find out where the nearest Nokia service centre in High Wycombe was. so went through the postcode info then searched after a long delay to be told the following. [an error occurred while processing this directive]
Can anyone tell me where there is a service centre in High Wycombe Bucks England, Please as I'm sick of the software failure and lack of service by Nokia. NEVER again will I buy from NOKIA.
To add insult to injury Nokia want 76p per minute phone support, which I shouldn't need if there software worked in the fist place.
One very very unhappy customer I will tell anyone I meet not to buy Nokias they have wasted Hours of my time, because they can't sort out their software and have major faults with their phone.
CAn anyone advise of a service centre in High Wycombe.

  • Nokia N93 software update

    Hey,
I have Nokia N93 phone and I'm trying to update its software, I did it actually before but this time it was different, NSU downloaded latest firmware from internet the in install phase; the phone disconnected from PC for unknown reason; so my phone has no software now and the pc can't detect it anymore.
    What should I do??

First remove the battery for 5 minutes, reconnect the battery, connect it to your pc and run the updater again. Leave it for a few minutes and it should go into recovery mode.
If not disconnect it and try a hard reset.
    Hard reset:
    1. Switch off the phone.
    2. Hold down the following three buttons: Green (the call answer button), * button, and '3' button.
    3. While holding these buttons, press the power button and switch on the phone.
    4. Release when the phone shows the nokia logo or shows other signs of life like the language selection screen.
If that fails to fix it try the advice offered in this post by drummer27:
    /discussions/board/message?board.id=swupdate&message.id=14152#M14152
If that still fails then the last option is to take the phone to a nokia care point.
Care points/service centres and repair info:
    UK • Europe • Asia-Pacific • USA •
Canada • Middle East and Africa
Elsewhere: Click here, select your country, go to the support section, then select repair.

  • Nokia N93 software updater

Why has it taken so long for Nokia to solve the FW problem with Nokia B93?

Although this forum is mainly meant for Nokia phone users, but I believe Nokia needs to make statement on some of the critical complains of their customers. This will truely vindicate that Nokia is connecting people not otherwise.

  • Software update N93

    Hi!
CAn anyone tell me when it will be possible to update a n93 with the nokia software updater ?

I cannot successfully connect the phone connect using the USB cable and the Nokia software updater programme. Apparently my N93 connects well using the USB cable and using the latest (66.81.13.0) Nokia PC Suite. However when I start Nokia software updater (1.1.30en, which I thought was of recent design as well) the USB connection is terminated. Of course the software updater doesn't work that way as no phone is found. When I cancel the software updater, my connection is automatically restored... Anybody a clue ? I tried the programme already standalone (in that case you must download cable-drivers, normally found in PC Suite) on a different PC and I also tried it on another USB port.

  • Error in Phone Software Update page ???

    When looking for a software-update for 6131
    -> Update over-the-air
Step 2/6 says Back-up data ... to memory card ...
I might be blind, but I didn't see a backup option on my 6131.
    Did anyone see?
Perhaps it's an option for S60 phones!?
    Greetings

    Hi,
I checked the software update link on Nokia-UK site and found the follows info in update over PC:
Personal data such as contacts, photos and messages stored in the phone memory may be deleted during phone software update. Before updating your phone software, we recommend you back up this data to your PC using Nokia PC Suite Software. Once your phone software is updated, you can restore the data using PC Suite.
This is correct text. And update over-the-air text is not correct. Just push next if you saved all data from your phone.

  • Nokia software updater problem

I just have installed Nokia Software Updater for N80 Internet Edition.
I followed the instructions, The firmware version of my N80 were going to change from 4.0632.0.38 to 5.0719.0.2.
Almost at the end of the process, I had to take out the battery, then disconnect the usb cable, after that put the battery, turn on the phone and connect the usb cable.....
But, at this time.... the phone didn´t start up....
I am really worry because even though I tried to charge the battery, the phone doesn´t turn on any led.... I´s now a dead phone....
Please help me with some advices.....

    Hi kinzo
Unfortunately things are not looking good. Firstly try leaving battery out for 5 minutes and then replace.
Secondly you might like to look at post from nando61 just input "N93 update fix" into "Search Discussions" at top right of screen. Although different S60 phone to yours, it seems to be a question of whether NSU can be "tricked" into reading phone so that software can be re-loaded.
It appears to have worked on an N70, N73 and N93 so far apart from loss of data unfortunately!
It may however be a small price to pay if you have a "bricked" "N" Series and a visit to a Nokia Service Centre neither practical or feasible.
Happy to have helped forum in a small way with a Support Ratio = 37.0

  • HT5381 i did a software update and now mail wont open at all

Help......my mail app is coming up with an error "You can't use this version of Mail with this version of Mac OS X".  Can I uninstall the update?

    !! WARNING !!
    about the September 2012
    "Security Update 2012-004"
If you've got "Mail.app" in a folder OTHER THAN the root "Applications" folder,
MOVE "MAIL.APP" TO THE APPLICATIONS FOLDER
    **BEFORE** INSTALLING THE "004" UPDATE!!
Because *IF* you use OSX's integrated Software Update app from the Apple menu to do the "004" updating, and *IF* your Mail.app is NOT in the Applications folder, then buddy, you've got some sitdown fixit time ahead of ya and/or some internet tie-up time downloading the "004" update file itself.
Been through it all, already.  In fact, just got done getting my Mail back up & running. And I tried everything short of attempting to unpacking my "Mail.pkg" receipt file using... whatever... even Pacifist couldn't get it out. So that fixit "Plan D" died quick. And I'm not savvy enough to use Terminal commands to do "Plan E," so that SUDO stuff was my brick wall.
So I compressed my entire "Mail" subdirectory that contain all my emails, for safekeeping during the required surgery, or whatever would work, leaving the original Mail directory where it was. In case something bad happened in all my fixit whatevers, the one thing I *didn't* want to cross paths with was a hosed Library -> Mail folder. Then I'd be pssd. But I can wipe out that ZIP now 'cause all's well now. After 6 hrs of downloading thru a mobile broadband hotspot running at only 14KB/sec speed due to my having gone over my T-Mobile hotspot plan's bandwidth amount (throttled-down after reaching the limit, tho not cut off completely. Kinda nice, but it's a huge speed drop).
I tried moving the two Mail.app versions around, compressing them & then trashing the original so they wouldn't be recognized, blabla, even booted my Mac in Safe Mode & reinstalled the "MacOSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) Update Combo.dmg" update file, which in the past has fixed many problems. But after restarting, not this one.
Like a dummy who ignored knowing better, I had my Mail.app in a folder other than the Applications folder, with only an alias to that being in the Applications folder. NOT GOOD ENOUGH. The updater don't see that as nuthin special or useful.
So if you've got, like I've got, "old" icons for Mail.app (v4.5) in your Finder toolbar & in your Dock that all point to "Mail.app v4.5" in whatever folder you've got that in, other than in the Applications folder (where Apple apparently REQUIRES that it be located, and ONLY there, at least for OSX updating purposes), then after you download & autorun that "004" updater using Software Update, NONE of your pre-existing Mail icons will work. And MOST aggravatingly, **NOR** will your brand-new "Mail.app v4.6" work that came out of the "004" updating installation.  So basically, your Mail.app's... all of 'em.... are hosed. But only if you run the "004" update without your "Mail.app v4.5" being located in your Applications folder and ONLY in your Applications folder. And duplicates of Mail.app, scattered around your HDD??  Always a problem with many Apple apps.... The Apple software engineers apparently like 'em to be in the Applications folder, and in ONLY there, and ONLY the latest version, and ONLY 1 single copy of each on your entire HDD. They just don't seem to stress that enough, it appears. Kind of an oversight for them to not emphasize that, IMO...
My recommendation for this particular September 2012 "004" update:
If you run Software Update, and if you see the "Security Update 2012-004" listed as available for download, UNCHECKMARK IT.  DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT USING SOFTWARE UPDATE !  Instead, download the actual update file itself.
Same thing, only a different way of doing it. Most importantly, you'll be skipping the auto-installation that Software Update performs.
AND you'll have that update file on your HDD for future fixits, should a nasty "unfixable" problem come up.
First, #1. Do a filename search for "Mail" (Option-Command-Spacebar). Scroll down to where the "Apps" are located in the list under the "Kind" column heading. First, find your Mail.app that's v4.5. Get that bugger into your Applications folder if it's not already there. Next, Trash all other "Mail.app" apps you see in that same list that you may have elsewhere on your HDD.
    #2. Go here: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1586
And download the actual "004" DMG update file: "SecUpd2012-004.dmg"
And of course, it's a biggie.... 270MB... so watching grass grow may be involved here if you've got a slow connection (go to a MacDonalds & do it, like I shoulda done).
    3. After downloading, I'd recommend closing down all apps, emptying the Trash, and restarting.
Then, after restarting, run Disk Utility's "Repair Disk Permissions."
Then, doublecheck that the Mail.app version 4.5 is in your Applications folder.
THEN fire up & install "SecUpd2012-004.dmg."
    Reboot.
After the reboot, your Mail.app version 4.5 in the Applications folder will have become Mail.app version 4.6 in the Applications folder, and all will be well again.
And you can dump that zipped-up "Username -> Library -> Mail" folder then, too.
    Happy Mac'in!

There are no updates to either OS 10.5.8 or Safari 5.0.6.

  • Error message with Software Update

Hi everyone. I'm getting the following error message when trying to download some items via Software Update:
"None of the checked updates could be saved. A networking error has occurred: Cannot open file (-3001). Make sure you can connect to the Internet, then try again."
This is for the following downloads:
    iPhoto 7.1.4
    iDVD 7.0.2
    iMovie 7.1.4
    Security Update 2008-005
Any ideas? I have no problems with Internet access at all. I'm running a new 24" Intel iMac 3.06 GHz with Mac OS 10.5.4
Thanks for any help you can provide.
    Bruce

    Hi baltwo.
I was able to manually download the iPhoto, iDVD and iMovie updates from the Apple website and install them with no problem.
After I downloaded the Security Update 2008-005 and tried to install it I get the following error message:
"You cannot install Security Update 2008-005 (Intel) on this volume. This volume does not meet the requirements for this update."
Is this why the other downloads were prevented? I've never had problems with Software Update before.

I installed the new software update to my Windows PC and my iphone and now my iphone 4s is no longer recognized by itunes and I cannot sync.  I already attempted unintalling itunes and reinstalling it - it didn't work.

    Hello KatieJean123,
It sounds like your phone is not recognzied in iTunes anymore. I recommend the troubleshooting steps from the article named:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1538
Here is an overview of the troubleshooting to be done:
    1. Update iTunes
    2. Check the USB cable
    3. Verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is installed
    4. Restart the Apple Mobile Device Service
    5. Verify that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed
    6. Check for third-party software conflicts
If the issue persists, try uninstalling iTunes and its associated apps with either of these two articles depending on your operating system version and its associated softwares:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
    Or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
