N95-1 V31.0.017 SMS Error

After updating to the new firmware, i cannot read or view any messages which are and were previously stored on my memory card.  I've reinstalled the firmware twice & i've hard reset three times but i've not idea what to do next.
I just can't access the messages, their present in their folders but they do not open.  However pc suite can access the messages and data, so its strange.
Also new messages or saved drafts cannot be saved.  If i switch to the phone memory, its fine.
If i delete the old message store and make an empty memory card a new store it works fine but i need my previous messages.
Any idea how to fix this?

Well i dont believe its the memory card since everything appears there its just not openeing on the phone, yet pc suite is reading everything fine.  Plus my memory card being faulty would only affect my messages?  Where i have 6gb of space and nothing else is affected.  I've also moved the data & erased the card, still causing problems.
I think nokia has changed some things & its so hard to find a change log, we dont know what those things are.  I'll try a smaller memory card just in case thought.
I've had this memory over a year & not one data access or writing error.
Thanks

  • Media Key Problem - N95 V31.0.017

    Hi,
after updating my N95 to version 31.0.017 some strange thing happened - all shortcuts in the main window didn't work. so i restored factory defaults and all is well.
    Except:
when pressing the media key, the icons load and the sound plays but as soon as it is supposed to load the background (fuzzy picture of someone and the sky) the menu closes and returns to the phone regular wait screen.
    What to do?
    N95-1 V31.0.017

Happens to my N82, too - the Multimedia menu closes immediately after opening. Happens by no obvious reason (though I've noticed that most often the bug occurs after playing MP3s). A phone restart fixes the things, though. Does restart help you? If not, you can write to Nokia and let them knwo of the problem (I think I've sent them an e-mail). Though it will not directly help you, it might urge them to release an update

  • SMS error 3 on nearly every text. Possibly due to other company towers?

How do I find free space? The only apps I've installed are MSN messenger & Facebook, and neither one has ever worked for me.
I've removed the battery & done other resets, internet cache clean etc.
I would like to start by saying I know this question has been asked, however, none of the threads I've found by searching have any information that I found at all useful. If I missed one, please, point it out.
Wednesday, January 5, when I got home from work (around 6:30pm local time), my texts stopped sending reliably. I get the SMS error 3 on nearly every one, and I stopped receiving texts as well. I can make calls, but they tend to drop.
When I went upstairs (lower level of my home is half underground, windows @ ground level), my texts started sending more reliably. I assumed the usually poor signal in the lower level was just worse than usual. I have gotten the error message sporadically in the past. I was not able to send or receive any texts until the next morning, when they started working again almost as usual. I had my usual 0-2 bars displaying throughout this, did not think to check signal strength in dbm.
Thursday evening (last night) as the evening went on, my texts started going through less and less frequently. Around 11pm local time, they just stopped altogether again. Going upstairs did NOT help at this point. This morning, I am able to send and receive occasional texts, though the majority of the time I still get the error.
My signal strength was -106dbm when I first started looking for answers (about an hour ago) and is -91 now, all texts still failing. I'm @ work today and my signal is usually crappy here, except when I'm roaming, but I'm usually able to text just fine.
I also occasionally notice I'm roaming when I'm home in the lower level.
I know that at the first of this year, AT&T was taking over the local towers that once belonged  to AllTel. Could this switchover be the cause of my diminished capability? I really hope not, I hope it's something I can fix myself. On the other hand, if it's just because they're working on the towers and I have such poor signal that I fail to get any signal at all when they're working on it, it will likely resolve when they're done, correct?
Please offer any information that might be relevant.
I'll gladly read any article or forum I'm directed to, there's just such an abundance of information available I do not know where to begin. I am a very beginning user. I was supposed to have my data plan hooked up almost a month ago but I keep forgetting to go back in. They had to get some data key to install on my phone so that it would work.
I've only had this phone a couple months and this is the first time I've ever really had an issue with it, besides my calls not going through because it was set to the wrong country code initially.
    Thank you for your time.
EDIT: Just set my phone to "home only" We'll see if that nixes the problem If it does, I can just blame AT&T

  • SMS Error 3

Hi! Lately, 70% of my text messages show a red X beside them - normally meaning it did not send. More often than not, I'm finding the recipient DID recieve them, but I still show a red x.
When I open the "failed" message, it shows "SMS Error 3, Message ID XX"
Any thoughts? I always have a good signal, have never had this problem before - it only started happening in the last couple of weeks.

Some more parameters are missing like, Delivery Report, Validity Period, Sent As, Data Coding, Service Center, Leave Messages on SIM Card, Network to Send Over, Retries. I think you need to reinstall the device OS again.

  • Droid DNA SMS error

I got my new Droid DNA yesterday (bought it online through amazon.com). The activation and set up went fine but I can't send/receive any SMS. It gives me an SMS error: service not available, cause code: 97, error class: 2
Anybody know how to fix this?

I got it fixed! I called customer service and somehow there was a "message block" added to my account. The verizon rep I spoke to was able to remove that and it fixed the issue!

  • Nokia N95 not able to send sms.

My nokia N95 is unable to send sms messages. The screen is saying "general memory is full, close some applications and try again". Have deleted all messages from inbox, outbox, photos, etc. But is still not able to send. I am able to recieve sms and calls. Don't understand where to find 'general memory'??? Can anyone help me please?? It has been like this for a week. Thanks

Check in File Manager where your phone thinks memory is being taken up (Options>Memory details) - this will tell you if you have large amounts of memory taken up by thing which can be moved to memory card (such as photos, videos, music files etc.)
If this is not the case, make a backup of your personal stuff (contacts, messages etc.) using PC Suite, leaving out anything that you don't need and also leaving out settings; then reformat your phone with the code *#7370# - the phone will ask you for confirm, then enter the lock code (12345 if you haven't changed it from standard) then shut down and restart - you should be able to send again after this. You can then restore your personal datat to the phone.

  • SMS Error message.

Every time I send a message for the last two days an error message window comes up saying:
Unexpected end tag: expected “b”, actual “font”
Please advise how I could have the necessary support on this issue.

It actually isn't an SMS error message, what it is has to do with the ability to undo typing within the SMS message. If you have shaken the phone, or moved it some between two different axis, since I believe it uses the accelerometer to activate, it will prompt you to undo typing. If you haven't typed anything, then you will see the message you describe. However, if you are getting this message popup without moving your phone, there is something else going on. Have you tried to reset your phone, hold the sleep/wake button and the home button together until you see the Apple logo and then release. Ignore the slide to power off screen. That will reset the phone, but will not affect any data.
Apple will not respond to messages here, and since that action is something designed in the OS, there wouldn't be a reason to fix it.

In fact the text messaging issues outlined in the original post will require a verification of the account provisioning and this can only be done by phone with a Technical Support representative.

Re: SMS error 3 on Verizon
This seems to be a transport error. This problem is caused if there is congestion on the cell network. I searched it on Verizon and I found no information about this error on Verizon. You should talk to your service provider and see what they can help you. They will give you the exact reason behind the issue and the timeline for the issue.
This may direct you to a solution if the solution isnt already listed..

  • IPhone 3G SMS error

Anybody can help to solve this problem. Unable to send SMS - SMS error. Have tried everything including network reset, phone reboot etc. Receive function is OK.

I had the same problem and tried all of At&t's tricks, and many of the posts on this any other web sites. Finally I used an old trick. Remove your sim card, carefully clean it off with a standard pencil eraser, then reinsert and power on. test send sms texts yourself a few times and voila. Good luck.

  • Help! sms error 97

I cant send texts! all other parts of the phone are fine (email, phone, recieving sms') but whenever i try to send a text, it says sms error 97 message id 138 or it says retries exceeded!

    Open: Options-->SMS Text
There is a field "Service center" on the screen.
Check this field value. It should be specified a phone number of SMS Service Center that automatically processes your outgoing sms-es.
Usually its value sets automatically, but in this case seems that there is a problem with it.
Contact your wireless provider support team and clarify the SMS Service Center phone number and specify it into this field.

    Nexu 5

It's a well known bug with v31 on the N95 and N82.  There has been several posts about it.
The only workaround is to leave the phone switched on at night or manually set your alarm after midnight.
The N96 also suffered from this but it was fixed in v12.
All you can do is report it to nokia using the "contact us" link and hope that they fix it.
