  • Using N95 as a Modem Via USB on O2UK Network

Hi I am trying to connect to the internet with my laptop using the N95 as a modem via USB. I have tried a couple of different ways to do this. I've tried using the one touch access in Nokia PC suite and it gets up to the part where it says "verifying username and password" then says unable to establish a connection. I have also tried connecting from the "connect to" tab in the start menu on xp (also tried vista) and selecting my mobile as the modem through which to connect. I am an O2UK Customer and i have been told the user name and pass to use to connect is user=mobileweb and password=password. Im sure this is true because it does get past the verifying username and password bit when i do it this way. But when it gets to the "Registering your computer on the network" part it fails.
What am i doing wrong. I have tried this in both GSM and UMTS mode.
are there any other O2UK Customers who have managed to use their N95 as a modem? If so please can you post here and explain how i do it.
Any help is greatly appreciatedMessage Edited by n95nooby on 29-Oct-200703:05 AM

Do you have an IBM / Lenovo Laptop?
I do and I checked the event logs and noticed failure 680 which indicated that no dial tone could be obtained (cable not plugged it) or similar symptom.
I used to receive the error "one touch access failed to establish a network connection" using the Nokia PC Suite. I checked under start | settings | network connections and selected properties on the valid dial-up device. Then I noticed that the device was using the Internal Thinkpad modem instead of the Nokia. This explained the error 680 as the Thinkpad modem was not cabled to the phone line. After changing the connect using device from thinkpad to Nokia all worked well.
Let me know if this helps.

  • Error msg "no modem found!" when trying to connect...

    Hi.
I'm getting this error message when I tried to connect to N95 via bluetooth as modem, using "One Touch Access". I can use "One Touch Access" to connect with N95 via USB cable, though.
    My hardware is:
    Toshiba R150 laptop;
    Generic bluetooth adaptor with IVT BlueSoleil as driver;
    Windows SP2;
    PC Suite 6.86.9.3;
    Nokia N95
    Any solution?

    hi,
i know you want bluetooth, but cable is really much better ya know...
but if you insist on BT, well couple of thing i could suggest:
test and make sure that BT is working properly, you can do this by sending files via bt on both ways
make the N95 as default modem, then goto it and query it, just to make sure it is working well...
thats all i could think of at the moment...

  • 6230i no modem found problem

When I try to connect to the internet through my mobile and DKU-5 cable it comes up 'no modem found'. When I go to Device manager it says the modem has a problem. Updating the driver just delivers an error message 'there was a problem installing this hardware...'
The annoying thing is it worked fine until I got an autmoatic update for the software. Since then I have had to sort the 'no available connection type' problem (solved with pc suite cleaner).
Anyone with any ideas how to solve the no modem found problem would be much appreciated.

  • DKU5 - No modem found!

    I have a Nokia 6810 and a DKU5 cable.
I've installed the DKU5 driver and then PC Suite and finally connected my phone.
PC Suite happily talks to the phone, but when I select 'Connect to the Internet' I get the 'No modem found!' error in 'One Touch Access'.
I've tried uninstalling everything, running 'Nokia PC Clean' and reinstalling and get the same error.
    What next?
    Richard

have you right clicked on it ans selected update driver ?
If it turns out that it does not help, my conclusion would be that the non-Nokia Dku-5 does not handle modem. At least it is not compatible with the Nokia DKU-5 cable driver that you have downloaded, but you should try to find the original driver that should be available for the DKu-5 you have.

  • Notebook+cable+N95 as wifi modem, how to?

    Good day!
I've got my Wifi broken on the notebook, so I was searching for information how can I connect to internet using my N95 as a wifi modem. I want to connect the phone to notebook via usb cable, turn on wifi on N95 and start using it as wifi modem.
PC suite allows me only to use it as GPRS modem.
Can anybody please help me up with the matter? I am really struggling to find any info on that.
    Thanks in advance

Basically, what you want to do here is use the N95 as a USB-connected WiFi adapter, right?
I'm afraid that can't be done.
You're much better off buying a real USB WiFi adapter. They're inexpensive nowadays.

  • E65 fix on .84 when "No Modem found" on Vista

    Hello,
Since .84 my E65 modem was not found on the One Touch Access, so by copying two files of the .83 version, it's back to normal.
So bad that Nokia couldn't fix it by themselves. I told them about this issue when I was in the beta team and didn't fixed and released .84
Here are the .83 files to replace in .84:
    http://www.b-powers.be/downloads/
It was a fix for me, I don't know if it will work for other phones.
    Hoping for a .85 soon,
    Francois

    Hello,
    Happy for you
Well today I did a fresh Vista install and the normal .84 is working fine.
So the soft is good, but the upgrade or the uninstall processes are not working well.
    Regards,
    Francois

  • N95 Calendar Sync Bug found

I have recently come across an issue with the Nokia N95, we have just bought over 20 of these for executive staff at my company, as the IT support officer I have been called out to nearly every one of these new phones to fix a problem. The issue is that when you add a reoccurring meeting request within Outlook and sync it to the N95 it copies across correctly, however if you remove one of the meetings but keep the series it will delete the one meeting from Outlook but not from the calendar on the N95 on next sync, this is obviously a big issue, when the directors PA removes a meeting from the reoccurring series it leaves the appointment in the phone, it seems that even after deleting it the phone only looks at the date range for the reoccurring meeting and places a meeting on each of the days specified in there no matter what, even when the single meeting is removed manually from the phone when it runs sync the next time the meeting comes back again, even though it is not on the device or Outlook. I have been through all the advanced settings within the Nokia PC Suite Software and also active sync and still nothing has helped. When I phoned Nokia Support I was told that the only way to fix this issue was to change the sync setting from both ways to one way only, but this is not good enough as the director and executives need to make appointments when out of the office and have it read back to the computer when they sync. Personally I have a HTC phone that I tested this same issue on and the problem does not exist on this phone. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? We are now looking in to more new phones away from Nokia, it would make us happy to find a fix rather than purchasing all new phones for every executive!

This is still a problem in iOS 7.0.4 as well.  We just had runaway calendar sync behavior on a 4th generation iPad running iOS 7.0.4 (iPad3C4/1102.55400001), which connected 75,436 times in a single 24-hour day.

  • GPRS Problem - No Modem Found

I have installed PC suite 6.81 onto an XP Pro SP2 laptop and am connecting a Nokia 7250i via a genuine Nokia DKU-5 lead. The PC Suite indicates the phone is connected via the serial cable but when I try and connect to the internet, one touch access states that no Nokia modems are installed. I have checked device manager and both the Nokia Connectivity Adapter Cable DKU-5 and the Port on the Nokia Adapter are detected and are working properly. The same phone, cable and software installs on a W2K SP4 laptop and connects without any problems. The only difference I can see is that the Nokia 7250i cable is detected in device manager under modems on the W2K laptop and not on the XP laptop. I have tried uninstalling and re-installing PC suite several times and used the Nokia cleaner utility to remove all traces of the programme between installs. I have also tried installing the modem driver seperately but still am unable to get the the XP laptop to recognise the Nokia modem in one touch access. Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions

When you check the One Touch Access settings for modems list, do you see your phone listed there ?
In device manager, when phone connected, do you see the phone in modems list ?

  • Lost BT Modem Function with N95

Until I did a SECOND Firmware upgrade (first was to 20.0.015, second to 21.0.016), I was able to use my N95 as a modem via BT with my Palm TX. Now, when I attempt to connect, a BT connection is established followed by a 3G/3.5G data connection visible on the N95's screen as the solid bi-directional arrows. However, as my Palm is doing it's "Signing On" routine, I notice that the N95 data connection drops. Every single time at the same place in the sign-on. This is followed by a "Time Out" message on the Palm.
If I have the Connection Manager open to Active Connections while trying to make the Modem Connection, "Modem Connecting" does appear for several encouraging seconds, but then disappears as the data connection fails.
I've received new configurations from my provider, and internet connectivity is fine directly from the N95 alone. I can't explain why the Palm can make the BT connection, generate an initial 3G data connection, yet fail at what appears to be the final stage of authentication. My Palm configuration has NOT changed. There are no error messages from the N95, and only the "PPP timeout" from the Palm.
    Ideas?

    grschinon,
As we both suspected, it was the N95. Nothing to do with the Palm, on which nothing had been changed. Basically, my O2 support tech had me manually create a new AP. It differed only slightly from the original one I created (with O2 direction) when I initially set the phone up. But, both manual configurations were completely different from automated configurations delivered to me via SMS.
The slight difference between the two manual configurations? Explicitly specified DNS IP addresses.
So, that put all to right, and to great relief. I should have stopped there, but NO! I decided to DELETE what I assumed to be the non-functional configuration (supplied via SMS). After having done so, my N95 continued to work as a modem, but my Truphone wizard couldn't "see" my manually created 3G AP! So, I re-saved my SMS-delivered configuration, and this resulted in a 3G AP which is visible to and works with Truphone. I still don't understand what about the manual configuration renders it "invisible" to Truphone -- other applications (Google Mail, browser) cab see it just fine.
So, now, things are working as usual. None of this was intuitive. I'll see how this works when roaming outside of O2's network.

  • N95 modem connection problem

Hi everybody, I was wondering if there's anybody that can help me with my problem with my N95....I tried to use my N95 as a modem and connected it to my laptop to acces the internet via USB Cable, installed the latest PC Suite ver. 6.86.
The installation and everything else were fine, I'm with T-Mobile USA and I have T-Zone package...launched PC Suite and hit "Connect to the Internet" button, at first it didn't connect successfully but after I changed the settings manually it successfully connected (I used wap.voicestream.com for the access point and leaving everything else blank) BUT when I tried to open Internet Explorer I get this error message:
    HTTP ERROR: $CODE$
    $MESSAGE$
    RequestURI=/
Don't know what it means and how to fix it, I even created a new connection manually and it connected successfully but everytime I tried to open Internet explorer or goto any website I get that error...I'm using Windows XP SP2....I really need to get this to work as I'll be needing internet access while on the road...thanks in advance!

    Hi,
the autogenerated modem has the setting
    at+cgdcont=,,"internet"
the string you mentioned seems to be wrong, probably the "ip" must be before the "internet"... changing the string does not give any changes in the behaviour - still 234 bytes received...
but then I changed the "internet" to "internet.t-d1.de" (because I am a customer of T-Mobile in Germany) -> and everything works fine!!!

  • No FAX modems were found

I have a 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5 with an internal modem on which I installed Leopard. Now I can FAX and get the message 'No FAX modems founds'. I have used this machine to FAX with 10.4.11 without any problem. I checked my configuration and the modem shows up, see below. I dumped the fax preferences, no difference. I find nothing about this specific message in the discussions, anyone have any suggestions??
    Modem Model: MicroDash
    Interface Type: USB
    Modulation: V.92
    SKU Name: UCJ
    Hardware Version: 1.0F
    Firmware Version: APPLE VERSION 2.6.7
    Driver: InternalUSBModem.kext (v2.6.7)
    Country: United States, Latin America

Have you added the FaxPrinter in the Print & Fax Preferences? I believe Tiger would create the fax printer automatically when you initiated a fax job; Leopard does not seem to do this.
    Hope this helps.

  • Software Updater - My N95 is My Computer Modem

I want to update my N95 to V20. I used my N95 as a modem to download the Software Updater. Can I also download V20 with my N95 modem, disconnect from the internet, do my backups, and then install V20 from my computer to my N95?

    Hi bobchyn
I an pretty certain that it is not feasible to do this unfortunately as once phone connection is lost Nokia Software Updater resets and won't look for Temp file on PC.
