N95-4 (NAM) FIRMWARE V20.2.005

I just installed the new firmware. I notice small performance changes, for example, on the USB connectivity and inbox (with a tons of emails). Menú browsing is faster and you will notice small features (like in the contact list).
No ASR, no UDP, no major features.
An important drawback from my point of view... the FONT is changed, is bigger, making the screen look smaller. Don't like it AT ALL.

  • N95 headphones vs firmware V20...

Since I upgraded to V20 my headphone buttons don`t seem to work. I cand start the music playes or jump to next/previous song, etc.
I tried reinstalling the firmware but the problem remains...
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I had to replace my headset, there is a small battery in it that seems to last about 6 months. I'm sure if you search my past posts you can find the thread, some people managed to replace the battery, I just got new headset off ebay.
For me headphones worked fine but none of the buttons did and if I made a call the other person couldnt hear me through the mic. The phone stopped autodetecting it as the headset either.

  • N95-3 NAM firmware upgrade to 35.2.001 - broken Ov...

Last night I noticed that 35.2.001 was available for my RM-160.  I successfully upgraded it.
I was able to upgrade Download! to get OviStore working for a little while, but now I have the following two situations:
    1) the OviStore app reports (in a system error dialog kinda box) "Store: Feature not supported".   I tried a soft reset, but it didn't help.  No idea why this one is broken.
    2) the web version of the ovi store (nokia.mobi, then click Store) reports "We're sorry.  Ovi Store is currently not available for your device.  Please check back as the new Nokia devices are being added frequently.  ........."        Is the website not recognizing the new browser version with 35.2.001?
So again, this is a N95-3 running 35.2.001.  just upgraded last night.

Have you tried going to store.ovi.com in the phone browser and downloading the client manually? I've found that the "Download!" replacement in the phone operating system, and a seperately-installed client, can co-exist. You have two icons, mind.

  • N95 firmware v20 bugs??

I just found 1 probs with this new firmware (v20),
-camera did not shut down and exit automatically when the camera shutter is closed.
Did anyone has experiences like me?

    Hi,
I'm not sure I can call this a bug, but I came across this once as well. Yesterday I opened the camera cover and took some photos, I wanted to take some more so I left the cover open for a while until the camera went into standby. I'm not entirely sure if I re-activated the camera before closing the cover, but when I did, the camera application did not close.
Actually this was a welcome surprise for me as I wanted the cam app ready for some instant snaps... Though I can't seem to get the cam app not to close now I probably stumbled upon a bug that requires some rare or special conditions in order to surface...

  • Nokia 5230 - cant update to v20.0.005

Just bought a Nokia 5230 from Argos. It had v11.0.079 firmware installed. I've tried updating the firmware to v20.0.005. I used the *#0000# OTA method. However, the latest firmware that it found was v12.0.089 so I installed it. I've tried again to get v20.0.005 but it says I have the latest firmware.
I'm on a Vodafone contract that I've been on for the last 5-6 years. I have it at half price so never get a phone upgrade so I always just buy a new phone every couple of years or so. I'm on such a good tariff that I prefer to keep it that way.
Any ideas why I can't get the v20.0.005 firmware? I haven't tried it via the PC yet as I dont have the required cable (where can I get one of these?).
    Thanks

Firmware is tied to product code not phone model .
In your case it will be Vodaphone at fault .

  • Nokia N93 (firmware V20) issues

    Hello,
I bought (on February 1st) a Nokia N93 that I quickly upgraded to firmware V20.
Even with that firmware, I still have some very annoying issues :
    (1) I expected to personnalize my ring tones on the calling number basis, like on my previous Nokia telephone. Although I think that I found how to do this, it doesn't seem to work : the calling number is correctly received, but the telephone doesn't seem to make the link with the corresponding contact list entry.
    (2) There seems to be two different web browsers on this telephone, one for the Internet, and another for the WAP.
The WAP browser seems to have a lot of trouble in correctly displaying pictures in WAP pages : about one picture out of two is shown as a (about) 2x2 pixels tiny "picture". In order to correct it, I have to move my N93 screen to the landscape position, and next to move it back to its previous place.
    (3) When watching a video using the N93's Real Player, the video is not displayed full screen at the beginning. In order to do this, I have to STOP the video, then open the "Option" menu, and select the "Read in full screen" command. But when I watch it full screen, if I press any key, the display reverts to tiny size without stopping, and I have to restart the whole process for going back to full screen.
I didn't find any command for displaying full screen without stopping the video. Did I miss something ?
On such a tiny screen, I couldn't imagine anybody willing to watch a video otherwise than full screen ... Why isn't this the default, or at least being configurable for becoming it ?
    Best regards,
    Gingko

Yes, about "contacts", I already did that.
I can select the appropriate ring tone for each contact, that way.
But the problems is that, when this contact later makes a phone call to me, and although I correctly receive his phone number from my operator, and although his name and his phone number have correctly (hopefully) been entered in my contact list, and although I selected a ring tone for him (either directly or via contact groups), the N93 doesn't seem to be able to find the corresponding number at the time of the call, and the display shows only the phone number with the default ring tone, like if I never created this contact in the list.
    Thank you for your help.

3)While playing radio it will hang after some time.(After 15 min to half an hour). you have to restart  your phone to close that radio application. (no other go)
If any Solution is there for this please let me know.
    Thanks in advance
    Ssandesh T S

For the radio problem, You may have to try to reinstall your firmware, or failing that, you may have to do a reset.
    For the music library:
    1. Connect your 5800 to you PC in Mass Storage Mode
    2. On your PC you will need to have allowed to “Show” hidden files, do this from Explorer/Tools/ Folder Options/ View and select “Show hidden files and Folder”
    3. Open your SD memory card/Removable Disk in My Computer on PC
    4. Go to E:\ Private there you will see 3 folders 101f8857, 101ffca9 and 10281e17 .
    5. Go to Private\101f8857\Cache\E there you will see .dat files. Delete all the .dat file BUT NOT the E Folder. Shown above right
    6. Now go to Private\101ffca9 there you will see another .dat file, Delete the dat file NOT the folder.
    7. Finally go to Private\10281e17 There you should see 4 files 2 are Mp3 files other are Podcast files. Delete mpxv2_2.db & mpxv2_2.db-journal for Mp3 files list and Delete pcv6_1.db & pcv6_1.db-journal for Podcast files list. Shown above right
    8. Close all windows and disconnect your Phone. Go to Music Library and it should automatically start a refresh.

  • N95-3 (NAM) - loading external data fails

Well, after extensive testing with my own code as well as
"sample" files provided by Adobe and Nokia for very simple data
loading (both for local .txt files as well as calls to a remote
server), the N95-3 (NAM) is just about useless. Fails each time.
Am a bit surprised that Nokia would release a phone without
    first testing this functionality...
anyone have an "old" N95 they're looking to get rid of? Need
one *urgently* to test code for a project I'm working on...

    Hi
I Have had trouble raching the network for some time.
Problem solved. My misstake, It was the cube that were set to transactional.....
    I will credit A.H.P.

  • Where to find release notes for firmware v20 of 58...

Anybody know where i could find the release notes for firmware v20? I wish to know what are fixed. Thanks!

Changelogs are considered confidential information by Nokia. You'll not see an official document reporting the changes made. What you might see is leaked documents on some websites, and you have to take those with a pinch of salt.

mo_shef wrote:Even if NSU / FOTA Nokia still can release BETA firmware without even telling the customers. How on earth would you go from a good stable v11 firmware to a complete utter v20 firmware which aint even stable?
There are notes (official notes) that come with the v20 firmware package where it clearly states Maitenance Release which has to be explained to the customer if this is applied to their handset. I could put it on here but dont wanna break rules.
I was just telling not to update as its BETA firmware and would cause problems.
You are still misleading. The term "maintenance release" means that the update is purely aimed at fixing bugs and not adding new features, it does not mean that it is "Beta software". The definition of beta software is software that is released to volunteers for testing, beta is not software that is offered for general release to all users.
And if you are seeing, presumably through your work, "official notes" about Nokia products, then your are in breach of rules by discussin them. In my line of work, I often see information from device manufacturers that is regarded confidential, but you'll never find me repeating any of this information here or on any other forum because I'd be jeopardising my employer's relationship with the manufacturers and in doing so put my own job at risk - and I for one am not foolish enough to do that.
You should watch your step - several months ago, one of the long-term users of this forum 'disappeared' from the boards amidst rumours that he had been fired from his job with a European mobile network because he had been providing confidential information to an independent web site.
Why did the v20 firmware have new feature ? eg Fixed Focus, Face Dectection, OVI Standby etc As you can see its new features. Maintenance release is classed as Beta but they dont use that phrase BETA. Yes it official but still it says clearly that you have to tell customers that is maitenance release. Nokia directly wont tell you but on the notes it does.
Im ok I dont work for Nokia but I have paid Nokia for acess to services such as Notes, Firmware, Service Logs and many others. As long as Nokia got there money there ok with that.If i did work for Nokia i wouldnt say anything i'd rather keep my job lol.
