  • N95 suddenly not reading sim card

Hello I woke up this morning to find a comedy of errors with my n95 - after 2.5 months of perfect operation (bar a few resets) and with the latest firmware - the **bleep** thing refused to turn on despite leaving it on with the charger plugged and with full battery the night before. After several frantic attempts and battery reinsertion the phone burst back into life, but attempted charges came up with the message "phone not charging" this eventually went away but now the main problem.
The things not reading ANY sim card I put in it, these cards work in any other phone I put them in. Has the handset cocked up and needs to be sent back or is there some option I have not tried?

Does it ask for a pincode from cold start (switched off)?

  • Nokia N95 GPS not loading propaly

Hi I hope some can help as between NOkia and vodaphone i am going mad I have bought a Nokia N95 phone and last weekend i was playing around with it,I must say my husband has the same phone and has no trouble with.I log onto the maps and littlr yellow lights go back and forth until it is replaced by green ones when it finds the satalite, but then it does nothing,my husbands automatcly homes in to out adress.but my N95 does not, i have asked nokia but to no aviale, they just told me to log on to the maps and it will home in automatacly which it does not has any one else had this trouble.I can manually zoom in with the * and the # keys but it will not do it by itself. My husbands N95 has a picture of a satalite dish in the bottom right hand corner and mine has some thing totally diffrent with the little lights going back and forth, and changing from yellow to green,The other thing i bought the N95 to use as a navagation unit as well as a phone but to my horrow last week just by playing about with it logging on and off and looking at the maps i was charged over £10.00 from my pay as you go balance.I thought it would log on to a satalite and away you go like a tom tom or similair i did not know it had to go through a internet connection can any one enlighten me how it works because i cant see how any one could afford to use it with this kind charge
Any help would be gratfully recieved

    Hi Purravida,
You might want to delete the old maps and folders from your memory card - the location of the maps has changed. Nokia Map Loader 1.2.1 seems to be downloading the maps to the old directory system if it exists but your software on the phone will be looking at the new directory and will try to load the maps over the data connection.
I had to delete the hidden Private directory and all of its contents to get the Nokia Map Loader to recognise that there is a new directory structure on my memory card. It could have been something else, but that fixed my problem of the new Nokia Maps not finding the downloaded maps (and trying to download them over the data connection.) Be sure to make a backup that you don't delete anything you would need...
    Cheers,

  • Ipod 1st generation not charging

    Hi,
I've an ipod shuffle (1st generation) that is not charging, the shuffle is seen by my system and I was able to update it 1.1.4 firmware version today( I also restored it), but when the shuffle is connected to the high-power USB port it lights with the amber light to indicate that it's charging. However it never turns green and on removing it after >4hrs there is no activity from it and the battery indicator light does not light. It is out of warranty now so I was thinking of replacing the battery myself, however the fact that it's not charging at all would give me doubts that it may not be the battery and might be related to the circuit board.
    Anybody seen this symptom before?
    Paddy

  • IPhone 3GS no longer recognized in iTunes and does not charge via wall

I upgraded my iMac to iTunes 9.2 when it came out.
My wife then upgraded her iPhone 3GS to iOS4.
Since then it is not recognized in iTunes and does not charge via the wall adapter.
I realize this topic crosses over with several ongoing discussions, but there are no 3rd party peripherals involved here.
The only major changes to our set up have been the itunes and iOS upgrades.
The battery is running down, any ideas to fix this, or other similar experiences welcome.

Went to the Apple store and they replaced the cable.

  • Hi everybody, my Macbook air mid 2012 MD 231 suddenly shut down then i can not turn it on. I heard a sound like a fuse is blown or something like that. Did any system break or burnt? I did not charge at that moment. Plz help

my Macbook air mid 2012 suddenly turn off after a strange sound (like the sound òf a fuse has blown or something like that) and I also feel a burnt smell too while i am watching a film on the internet and did not charge the laptop at this moment. The sound was from the left of it, and now just a dark screen , even I tried charging it (still has green light at the charge tool). I bought it on 13st April 2013, not often use.
I love apple and i am so sad that a new product which i seldom use could be break so easily and outstanding. It's so late in my country now but i am too disappoint about the trouble so i am writing with hope of supporting from Apple and the community.
    Please help , thank bro

You will have to take it to an Apple Store for repair.

  • Battery heating up, now it is Not Charging

For a while I have had the issue of my macbook becoming very warm when charging, or in use. And it would often say not charging, then i would have to remove and insert the charger a few times before it would work.
Now it is not charging at all, and the battery is at 0%.

If the heat is coming from the battery itself, you probably need a new one. If you're near an Apple Store or third-party service depot, they have a diagnostic they can run to determine if your battery has failed and needs to be replaced. Depending on your model, the battery may be something you can swap out, or would need to be done with a special tool.

  • Venue 8 Pro not charging?

I have not used this tablet a lot for the first couple of months I had it, then it was not used for 4 months I enjoyed it but mainly wanted it for travel. I used it for month while traveling in October it worked fine and put it up since then I got it out and put it on charge the same cord and charger that came with it and has worked in past. The white light will come on but after say ten mins goes off and the tablet is warm on the back, it has not charged if I try to reset by holding the buttons down I only get a couple flashes of Amber light. And when I plug the charger in no lights come on. Then if I wait like an hour and plug charger back in the white light comes on and again only stays on 10 mins or so and warms up the back. The warranty period is over as of 4-2, any thoughts, bad battery due to letting sit and battery going dead for so long? Tried three different cords but only have the one dell charger.

Dell supplied the wrong charging cable. The port is rectangular and the plug is trapezoidal so it can be plugged in either way, and if you plug it in wrong, you can bend or break the pin block. I handed mine to my wife to see which way she'd try to connect the cable and she immediately tried plugging it in upside down. This is a serious design flaw and Dell needs to recall them all and replace the connector. There's no way in this day and age of computing that it should be possible to plug in a connector upside down like this and then destroy the device. It's only a matter of time before every one of these Dell Venue Pro 8 units is damaged because of this issue. Dell screwed up the design and customers are paying for the mistake. This is 100% Dell's fault. They need to make it right.

  • Magsafe Charger not charging - when it lights up may not work

I started experiencing this a few weeks ago. Since then I have gone through 2 adapters.
The magnet works and everything, but it doesnt light up, and where that battery is up there it doesn't show any signs of recognition.
I have to wiggle it a little bit and apply some pressure to get it working.
Even then, it still sometimes doesn't work. It'll be green and say "Not Charging".
It doesn't always do that though. Sometimes it will charge. I have a new battery (from around christmas time) so it cant be the battery... i wouldn't think anyways.
Another thing, is when I get it charging, I have to lay it perfectly still. One little tiny bump or something will cause the light to go off and stop charging. I've cleaned the magsafe part and the part it lpugs into the computer. I have the same problem.

I had the same pin problem as many here. My neutral pin (outer most) stop pushing out, I can turn the plug upside down and the pin falls into place. Take a bit of wiggling to get it to charge the computer. This is a new magsafe, only 4 weeks old. I had to have my other one replaced because the exact same pin did the exact same thing again.

  • Magsafe not charging, no led

    Hi,
My magsave cord broke, I worked till batterie 0%. Bought a new Magsafe.
But now the magsafe is not charging and the led light wont shine orange or green.
I did a smc reset, a pram reset, took the batterie out and push the button till it went off. Tried SMC 1.4 update but stated not needed.
Cleaned the connector pins on the mbp with alcohol.
So i figured the magsafe does not work, took the old broken one apart and fixed the cable. Gives power again, but also no light and no charging.
The batterie looks fine, apart from empty:

If I've understood correctly, you still don't know whether either of your adapters is working properly. Test them both with the 15" MBP you mentioned and see whether they work. If either one does, but it doesn't when you test it with the 17" machine and its new battery, then the logical conclusion is that there's a problem with the charging circuitry in the MBP -- subject, of course, to confirmation of the presumption that the new battery is actually good. You may have to visit a Genius Bar or authorized service provider to get that confirmation and have everything tested conclusively.

  • Magsafe light is dim green and not charging properly

    Hello all,
I am hoping that someone could help me out with this. I have a Mackbook unibody from 2008 with the most curent Lion operating system. I recently started having problems with the charing of my laptop. I was using my computer one day to the point that the batery got used up and the laptop turned off. When I brought it home to charge the magsafe light turned on very dim green. It took 4hours for me to be able to start up my computer and has taken 3 days to get to 90% charge which it does not seem to go over. Bellow I have pasted information about my battery which is about 8 months old (new one i bought from apple). For some reason if you look down in the battery information, it's saying that it's not charging. I don't have apple care and money to fix it, any advice would go a long way.

That battery information looks decent, low number of cycles, capacity is about right for that vintage battery, condition is Nromal as it should be, and the voltage is right where you want it, 12 to 12.5 volts.
Have you worked through the knowledge base article on MagSafe connectors to see all is healthy on that end?
If that is fine, then it could be an issue in the charging circuitry in the MB.  In which case it would be best to have an Apple tech at the genius bar run some diagnostics.

  • Magsafe flashing or dim green - not charging etc. ----lower case plastic?

OK, here's a long story as short as I can make it. It will probably be confusing, as I don't have time to figure out the best organization of this info. I'm at work.
    ---SHORT VERSION---
What is the material attached to the lower case that the internals of the laptop are attached to made of? Does it serve a purpose other than holding down and stabilizing internals?
    ---REASON I'M ASKING---
I was replacing my IO/DC in board, as that is what was recommended by the Genius bar (no power with my old battery in, powered with no battery). I bought 2 other used batteries that didn't work with it either, both with supposedly over 90% health (but came shipped without much or no charge).
Anyway, last night I decided since the batteries didn't work, I would tackle the IO board. When taking it apart, I missed one of the instructions mentioning a 4mm hex head on the IO board, and broke off the bit that it screwed into of the lower case.
My question is...what is the material that the internals of the computer screw into? Is it plastic, or some sort of weak metallic material? I guess I'm asking if I could have made my problem even bigger by breaking the bit where it screws into, or if it is for "attachment" purposes only. I superglued it back on, and it stayed when I reattached the board. However, before I could get a strong green light powering up with no battery. Now it's very dim. However it will actually stay powered with a battery attached...but not charge. Sometimes it flashes, and sometimes it's dim green.
Finally (maybe), this is not a new IO board. I had to reinstall my old one, due to the fact that I'm an idiot and bought the wrong part (got an A1260 board instead of an A1211 board.) I just am worried since my symptoms have changed, that I may have created yet another problem. Now I'm waiting on another IO board, this time for A1211.
Just thought I'd see mainly if anyone knows what the material is made of.
    Thanks!

    Nevermind. Pretty sure it's plastic.
Turns out there was a loose connection. I'd double checked everything last night, but must have missed it as I was tired and hurrying. After it didn't worked I opened it back up and found a part that was loose, snapped it in, and it wasn't better.
Today I opened it up, and the other side of the same connector was loose. OOPS.
It now powers up like it did previously. It even started charging the battery for a few minutes, but then it quit. Still I'm relieved it's at least back to "normal" and hopefully when the RIGHT part comes, it'll work.

  • Battery not charging, dim green light on Magsafe. Stuck at 37% battery life. Not sure the issue, so I need some help.

Yesterday, my Magsafe power adapter/battery was working fine. I had  unplugged the machine last night to do some work, and I left it  unplugged all night. It held a good 90% charge over the night, and after  using it for a few hours I wanted to plug it back in. I noticed the  normally bright amber light on the Magsafe did not come on, but a faint  green light.
The machine says "Battery is not charging", but no "Service Battery  Warning has shown up. I also attached an image of my results from  Coconut Battery, just not sure what the numbers mean.
    Any ideas?

I reset the SMC, nothing changed, I took out the charger to clean, but there wasn't anything dirty.
BUT as soon as I plugged the MagSafe out, the power percent jumped from 37% to 47%. Still not charging, I am very confused on how it charged??

  • Macbook Pro Mid-2010 15" is not charging with dim green light

    Hi all,
I have spilled a bit of water on the keyboard of my Macbook Pro this Monday. It continued working just fine.
So, I took it home, and 2h later, when I pluged the charger in, the light turned into a very faint/dim green light and it was not charging anymore. It does not consumes battery power, because it's plugged in the outlet, but it does not charge either (says "not charging").
    I have tried the following:
Plugging it in to a different outlet
    Trying other MagSafe chargers
Making sure it's the correct charger (85w)
    Resetting SMC
    Resetting NVRAM
I have opened the back, and although I could not dismount it anymore because the lack of appropriate screwdrivers, I could find no sign of humidity or water damage.
Checking the system information page in the MacOS, I could notice that, when the charger is plugged, amperage information gradually progresses from ~ -2000 to 0.
And it does not seem to recognize the charger. See below:
    AC Charger Information:
    Connected:     Yes
    ID:     0x0000
    Wattage (W):     0
    Revision:     0x0000
    Family:     0x0000
    Serial Number:     0x00000000
    Charging:     No
Do you guys have any other suggestions?

If you are lucky, the power adapter is faulty.  I suspect that there are problems inside the MBP.  I still advocate a trip to an Apple store genius bar.  Your MBP has a hardware issue and they (Apple) can diagnose it and tell you exactly what will be required to repair it.
    Ciao.
