N95 8GB headphone jack mode auto-select

When I plug headphones into my N95 8GB a popup always appears to ask me whether I want to use Headphones, TV-Out cable or a Music Stand. Is there a way of having this default to Headphones without plugging in the remote-control? I don't use the TV-Out cable or own a Music Stand and this annoying little piece of UI really gets in the way of using the phone as a decent portable music player.

I think they were trying to avoid using the 'remote control': if you have regular earphones, you end up with metres of extra cable which can be a pain.
My way around this was to get some Shure SE210s which come in 2 parts so you can detach most of the cable and replace it with the AD-54.

Creative Zen 8GB - Headphone jack is

I have recently purchased this player and immediately see that when I plug / unplug any headphone, the screen flashes as if the player had been turned on. I don't think that simply plugging or unplugging a headphone should activate the player - has anyone else seen this happen? If so, did you return the player?Thanx

i dont know who told you that but I have my headphones hooked to mmy ZEN and it doesnt turn on.... and YES i would most definitely be trying to get it exchanged....its NOT supposed to do that...some wire must be crossing wth the USB port inside the player making it do this....but dont try to fix it on your own....just tll Creative that you got one of the crappy ones and it does that.....dont let them tell you that its supposed to do that....tell em someone? you know has the ZEN and theirs doesnt turn on when they connect the headphones....thats the stupidest thing i'd ever hear if they told me that....

N95-8GB - Not able to connect in Data Transfer Mod...

Hi all,
Recently I bought N95-8GB and installed PC Suite which comes along with the phone in my OS Windows Vista Home Premium. When I try to connect my phone in Data Transfer mode, I am getting message "Found new hardware - Windows needs to install driver software for your unknown device" and I am not able to find any driver for the same.
Please help me out to solve this problem.

just let the wizard run through and select the options that windows will search for the friver itself. the dirvers are included in nokia Pc suite package.
YOu can also try to use the standard NOkia PC Suite from www.nokia.com/pcsuite or generally look for a fresh version of NSeries PC Suite from thephone web-pages, the CD-ROM versions are normally outdated

N95 8GB reboots periodically in data transfer mode

I have a new N95 8GB running firmware v20. Unfortunately, when I use the genuine USB cable and select "Data Transfer Mode" the phone reboots 60 seconds after I connect the cable (and thereafter each 60 seconds when I don't touch the phone).
I have tried with a non-genuine cable and the behaviour is the same.
Coincidentally the "Power Save Time-out" is set to 60 seconds. When I change this to another value, say 40 seconds, then the above rebooting happens every 40 seconds.
This appears to be a phone bug and makes it extremely difficult to use data transfer mode, unless you can transfer files within the power save time-out period, or unless you are prepared to press a button on the phone within this period.

Well,rotateme works perfectly for me and i have a n95 8gb too.So there are two things that might happening.
1.You are doing something wrong with the whole installation(does rotateme works when you install it?)
2.You downloaded your self a corrapted or somekind of a virus or a bug .sis file and installed it to your phone.
Why dont you try to download one other rotateme file for you?You can find plenty rotateme from a lot of users.I can send you mine,if you want send me an e-mail and i`ll send to you the .sis file that i used and as i said,it works fine for me.

IMac force select "Display Audio" when headphone jack is in use

I have a new 2012 iMac and Thunderbolt Display. I use the Display Audio from time to time, but also use a set of high quality speakers plugged in to the headphone jack.
Some applications, like Chrome (Google Hangout, Gmail phone calls) will default to using the Display Audio as the speaker. If I have the headphone jack in use (using the desk speakers), then the Audio System Preferences will NOT let me select the "Display Audio" device. It will immediately highlight "Headphone" again. The problem is if I want to change the "Display Audio" volume, I have to remove the cable from the headphone port, then change the audio, then plug it back in the headphone port.
It's quite annoying.
Is there any way to change this?
As a second request, is there an app that allows you to select which audio device applications will use? Like, if I wanted to change Chrome from using the Display Audio (not sure why thats the default anyway), or another application to only use the headphone port...

The problem with the selection of the headphone port is something I reported to Apple back in October 2012. After some time, the reply came back that this was intended behaviour, and my bug report was subsequently marked as, "behaves correctly"! I agree with you that this is a pain in the backside and certainly appears to be bug-like behaviour. If you can take the time, I'd ask you to file your own bug report on this matter here. Perhaps it'll help cause a re-think. You should be able to log in with your Apple ID.
As for your second question: many people are asking this now. Rogue Amoeba made such a thing years ago, but it doesn't work on modern, Intel-based Macs. Maybe they'd consider updating it if enough people asked?
For Chrome, you can use ChromeLauncherWithExtraAudio - I've tried it and it works fine, though once you've changed the audio output on launch you have to quit and re-launch to change it again. If you want to choose where to send audio from movies, radio and so forth you could start using VLC, which completely ignores the system audio settings, and lets you choose from any connected audio outputs.

Do you see a red light in the headphone jack?? If you do, then the microswitch is stuck and you need to turn it off. Try poking it with a toothpick.
If you don't see a red light, then try resetting the SMC and PRAM and see if these helps. Here are the links.

N95 8gb Auto Rotate Screen

Hello,
I just downloaded the newest firmware for the n95 8gb.
I had the heard that the newest firmware allows for auto rotate screen from portrait to landscape and vice versa.
Is this true and if so how do I enable this feature?

Check I've said having an RM-421 phone. That's the N95-4 or N95 NAM. The N95-2 is RM-320.

N95 8gb - Appointment view in standby mode

Please can someone help me. I use the calander option heavily on my n95 8gb phone. I have read somewhere that in standby mode it is supposed to display the next 3 appointments over the next 48 hours. Mine only shows one. Where do I set this up and how can I configure it? On a similar subject (I'm sure it is in the same place) how can I disply my to-do's rather than just the number of them that I have to do! It's quite depressing to see the number of things I need to do rather than a prompt to do them!

I have researched the whole subject and the closest thing to my case is one with a red light. I tried the toothpic manoevre suggested by pany with no results. Please help me.

Make sure Mute is not enabled.

Nokia N95 8GB auto shutdown problem

Hi everyone!
Yesterday my Nokia N95 8GB (v31) suddenly having weird problem. It will shut down itself, without giving any notice. The shut down case happen when it run about 30 minutes. I suspect is battery problem, but during it was charging, the phone also auto shut down itself.
The weird part is after it auto shut down, it can't be boot up again, unless I manually take out the battery and wait for some time and put it back, then it only can boot again.
Anyone here know what is the problem? It is battery or the phone? I need a solution...
I've re-formatted the memory card and hard reset the phone, also no luck...

N95 8gb auto install

when i restart my n95 8gb it tries to install something but says it is harmfull software and should be installed from progammanager but there are no programs that are not installed.
How can i stop this ?

Or connect the phone with the memory card inserted to a computer into "Mass storage" mode. Then use Windows Explorer to open it and delete the "private" and "system" folders. NOTE: You will loose all installed applications on the card...

I have a 5th generation 8GB iPod nano. I bout it off of eBay in May of 2010 and it has worked great until now (Apr 2011). The 5th gen plays music through the headphone jack even when no ear buds are plugged in. I was using it one day and it just stopped. I tried resetting it manually and automatically and I tried reinstalling iTunes. Nothing has worked. Now it won't even play sound though the ear buds (or the aux hook up in my car), only when it is docked to my iHome. Does anyone have any suggestions? I dont want to replace the iPod or any parts inside if at all possible. ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOMED! THANKS!

Headphone jacks are only good for so many in and out usages. Usually its the headphone jack itsefl that goes bad first but sometimes it is the internal part. If you are lucky you can clean out the inside and get it to work.
These devices are not made to last for someone who actually has those headphones around there neck and acually uses there listening devices through out the day plugging it in and out. This is not in any way an Apple thing, it is a problem with many devices. The male ends tend to get dirty hanging around then scratch the female end when used. In fact, using higher end headphones you can really notice even the smallest particles of dust on the male end of plug when used, that is the small popping you might notice when the cord moves.
Hopefully its a problem on the male side of things.
I would recommend a person that wants to use headphones alot to keep a small 2 inch extension plugged into there device that can be replaced when it goes bad inplace of wearing out the original plug.
Again, this is not an Apple problem alone.

Liquid shampoo in headphone jack - "headphones" mode

Hello. Dumb as I was, I had my iPhone 4 with me in the shower. I got liquid shampoo in the headphone jack spot. Now, I'm guessing it's dried and my phone volume mode is stuck in "headphones". I tried using a vacuum to suck it out, the blow drier, plugging in and unplugging headphones to the jack, sucking air out myself, using Q-tips. I'm at a loss. I don't know what else to do. It even smells like shampoo/tastes like it.
