N95 8GB inbox mess! sort/order sms by date!!

Why do ew sms messages I recieve on my N95 8GB suddenly appear in a randon spot (i.e. not at the bginning or end of the inbox list) even though I tried more than once to do "Sort by: Date"!!?

I have an N95 and installed firmware 31.0.17 in February 2009. It is still the latest version in August. The phone was OK for about 3 months, until I returned from a holiday overseas. Since then it has occasionally got confused about the date, even though I have network time updates always turned off. The phone usually decides it is several days in the future and so my calenday goes crazy. I change the date manually, then it works fine until a few days later, when it suddenly loses several days again. When I correct the date this second time, the phone usually runs OK for a month or more.
I cannot sort my messaging inbox or sent folder properly - by date, name or subject. They appear to be ordered randomly. I wondered whether this date scrambling problem is corrupting the file system timestamps of some of my sms entries....
... however, when I connect the client to my IMAP mail server (which provides sensible dates), the phone fails to present my email folder contents in the right order too!
Why hasn't someone from Nokia support responded to this thread? This problem has existed for about a year and persisted through more than one firmware version?

  • Sort order help for date string in crosstab

    Hello All,
I need to calculate the number of calls for service for the last 13 months. Display the number in the report footer by month and year in a grid similar to a crosstab and in ascending date sort order.
    Example:
    May 2008    1,400
    Jun 2008     1,287
    Jul 2008      1,290
all months through last full month
    May 2009    1,385
I can calculate the number of calls per month and display the month and year by converting the month and year to text.  However, I cannot seem to find a way to sort the month and year without some kind of on-going manual intervention.  I need to make the report maintenance free for monthly scheduled e-mail distribution in business objects enterprise.  Specified order does not work since the column headers will change each month.  It needs a sort order formula, but I am not sure how can this be done inside a cross tab?
Any help or suggestions are appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Wendy Douglass

    Hi,
I have a similar cross tab in my report. but only problem is grouping is done based on a parameter GroupBy, which has Day, Week, Month values.
if user selects day or week, cross tab should display column in dd/mm/yy format, if its month, MMM-yy format.
I have created a date formula ,  GroupBy = Day then Opendate
GroupBy = Week then opendate -dayofweek(opendate)+1
                                                       GroupBy = date(year(opendate),month(opendate),1)
and used this date formula as column in cross tab. I tried to format using custom date style...but its not working in cross tab.
if I use totext to format the date formula, data will not be in sorted order...ex, its showing jul-99 before jun-99
    can anyone help?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Jyothi

  • Setting "Date Received" sort order via Applescript?

For my 86-year-old Mom, I want to create an applescript that will always ensure upon launch that her Apple Mail's inbox is always the selected mailbox, and that the sort order is set to Date Received with the newest email at the top. (I'm assuming that would be Descending?) She keeps clicking on the column heads by accident which messes up the inbox's sort order -- and then she doesn't know what to do to correct it. (Well, I've shown her, but her memory isn't such that she can remember it tomorrow after drilling her on it today.)
I found a way to make sure the sort order is by "Date Received" but I haven't been able to determine if I can ensure the sort order or not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Dimaxum,
Thanks for your thoughts and the link. I've been there and boy, if there's a solution in there I haven't found it yet! Lots to look at.
I would love to be able to freeze the UI settings in Mail and prevent Mom from messing up the sort order. Haven't figured out how to do that or even if it's possible. Short of that I'm thinking that running an Applescript to correct anything that might have been changed last time she was in the Mail application is the best I can do. I have the Applescript set to run at login, and it takes care of launching Mail when she boots up her computer. I also need to reset the position of the mail window on her screen and the size of the window and whether or not the preview pane is showing. If she accidentally resizes her window, or gets it off the screen, or loses the preview pane -- she's totally lost.
I've found Applescript examples that let me perform a menu action, but there's nothing to check the state of "toggle" items -- for example, command-1 both closes and opens the Activity window. I'd like for it to only make sure that Activity window is open. Mom keeps closing it and then she wonders where it went.
I could do all this stuff "back in the day" with QuicKeys. I'm thinking I should be able to do it with Applescript -- but I've never found Applescript (or automator) to be as understandable and usable as the old QuicKeys was. I do OK with Applescript as long as I can find an example -- but coming up with syntax and stuff like that out of the blue requires more experience with it than I'll ever have.
I just looked up the price for QuicKeys. $60 -- wow, I'd love to have it again but that's just too pricey for this single application.
Any more ideas or pointers, anyone??

  • How to set up email access on N95 8GB?

    Hi
    I have an N95 8GB.
I have recently added a data bolt on for accessing work email from my phone and would like to receive a text/message when I receive a new email.
Problem is I can't find any information on how to set this up.
    This link looked perfect:
    http://www.knowyourmobile.com/nokia/nokian95/nokian95internet/2533/setting_up_email_on_the_nokia_n95...
but  following it through on my phone doesn't come up with the same options etc.
So far I have gone to 'messaging', selected 'change me', then - Options - Email Settings - Connection Settings - Incoming e-mail.
    Here I am stuck.
Is my username my email address?
Is my password my email account password?
What is my incoming mail server?
What is my access point in use?
What setting should security ports be on?
The settings also say that I cannot have email notifications and email retrieval together. What does this mean?
I would really appreciate it if anyone out there can help.
    Thank you

Hi, I'm a newbie at this, so pls be patient with my terminology...  I want to install 2 or 3 of these cameras in my mother's home, and I will have AT&T DSL service (one dynamic IP address) there with only a modem/wireless router.  I want to access the cameras from my laptop or from my Blackberry Tour when I am traveling.  Also want to allow access for my other relatives.  I do not have another home computer to serve as a WHS, and my laptop is obviously not connected to the internet all of the time.  Can I use the DDNS setup with DynDNS to provide access?  The instructions that I read seemed to imply that I needed a WHS in order to forward ports, etc.  Thanks in advance for your help.. • Problems with musicplayer on a Nokis N95 8GB

has anyone found a solution for the probs with the music player. I have in the music player 8 songs showing but in file manager on the phone or using the pc either by bluetooth or USB the no songs at all. The songs will not delete either, when I attempt to delete them I get a message saying "General: Feature not supported".
Anyone any ideas, is an absolute pain especially in such an expensive phone
    Cheers

    Hi Showshifter, try the following:
    1) Copy the music files you want to wherever you want on the memory card (or mass storage if its the N95 8GB).
    2) Connect the phone in "Data transfer" mode to your PC.
    3) Delete the two files in "E:\private\101FFC31" (called "mpxv1.mpd" and "pcv5.mpd").
    4) Delete the one file in "E:\private\101ffca9" (called "harvesterdb.dat").
    5) Disconnect the phone from the PC and run the Music Player on the phone.
    6) Wait a while for the app to startup. It will be rebuilding the library......
    7) Just to be sure, select "Refresh".

  • IPhoto - sort order

I can not get my new iPad 3 to work with iPhoto
The sort order is NOT date and NOT by name
I have tried to change on iMac to date and then sync
But nothing ocuurs on iPhoto - iPad3
How do I get a proper sort order for occasions?
    Anyone know?

I found a solution for the events remaining in the same order as in iphoto 9.1.1. After leaving the events in the order you want in iPhoto, edited the date and time information (exif file) of the first picture of each event. For example, I have ordered several events manually in iPhoto. I got in first and put the first photo of the first event to date 01/01/1958 12:00:00 by Pictures menu> Adjust Date and Time. In the second event to repeat the same process, and changed the date for the first photo to 01/01/1959 12:00:00. And so adding one year to each event to the last. After this change, re-syncronize all events with iphone4 and events were in the same order that had set in iphoto 9.1.1. This is because the iphone4 with IOS 4.2.1 uses the information contained in the EXIF photo files and sort by this information. I hope helped with this tip, which worked for me. When I add a new event, I have to sync your entire library again.

  • Change sort order in line graph

    Sorry, my mistake !
In one of the ColLabels i had placed the xsl:sort line ABOVE the xsl:for-each.
    So, now it is working.
In a line graph I need to change the sort order of the elements in my XML file.
I need the elements to be sorted by month number, so that january comes first, then february etc.
I have an element in the XML file called DATE which has the format 'YYYYMMDD'
I tried first to change the sort command for the Label.
    <ColLabels>
    <xsl:for-each select=".//XX_ROW" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl:sort select="substring(DATE,5,2)"/>
That worked fine, the label values are resorted as I wanted.
Of course, I also have to set the same sort order for the data values.
So I did that in the same way :
    <RowData>
    <xsl:for-each select=".//XX_ROW" xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform">
    <xsl:sort select="substring(DATE,5,2)"/>
But, to my surprise, I got an error :
    Caused by: oracle.xdo.parser.v2.XSLException: <Line 70, Column 45>:
XML-22047: (Error) Invalid instantiation of 'xsl:sort' in 'RowData' context.
Does anybody understand why this was not possible ?
Is there another syntax for sorting in the RowData ?
What's the use of being able to sort the X axis lable, if I am not able to sort the data ?
    Edited by: user792912 on 2011-maj-30 05:11

This was an error I had made in the graph code.
The xsl:sort line must be placed AFTER the xsl:for-each !

  • Mail Sort Order and Logitech Control Center 3.1

LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader.osax is a Scripting Addition in /library/scriptingadditions that reproducibly causes the sort order in Mail to revert to Date Received/Newest on Top. With LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader.osax in the Scripting Additions folder, you can change the sort order for a folder, but when you click on another folder and return to the original, the sort order reverts to Date Received/Newest on Top.
Removing LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader.osax and restarting Mail remedies this problem.
Can anyone else confirm this occurs in their system as well (10.6.1)?

I upgraded to Snow Leopard (10.6.2) from 10.5 yesterday and noticed this Mail sort problem straight away. Concurrently I upgraded to Default Folder 4.3.3 and LCC 3.1. Following the advice of you guys, I've excluded Mail.app in System Prefs/Default Folder/Settings/Advanced and lo and behold date sort is working normally again.
I mean, I've spent 15 years having most recent at the bottom and it's very wrong to have it at the top!

  • Crystal reports graph sort order

I have 2 fields called fiscal year and fiscal month.
Expected sort order - sample values:
    Fiscal year     Fiscal Month
    2011     5
    2011     5
    2011     6
    2011     7
    2011     8
    2011     9
    2011     10
    2011     11
    2011     12
    2012     1
    2012     2
    2012     3
    2012     4
    2012     5
    2012     5
Current sort order- shows up incorrectly by default
    Fiscal Year  Fiscal Month
    2011          10
    2011          5
    2011          6
    2012         12
I will be using these values in a graph and I created a new formula column called time PEriod that I will be in the
x axis of my graph (mid({query.fiscal_mth_nbr1},1,3)) . the output of this formula is Oct,Nov, Dec,Jan,....Oct
Without the year, but it still needs to be sorted in the first sample values order , since fiscal year starts in Jun and ends
in July. We are now in fiscal year 2012 , fiscal month 6
I tried sorting the value inside crystal reports by going to design view and applying sort. But it does not take the
sort order. Can you please suggest the best way to keep the sort order. The data is coming from a universe and I even tried
to sort the data from the universe by using order by, but the database would not let me use order by  that in a derived table within the universe.
    Edited by: developerbo1 on Nov 14, 2011 7:19 PM

    hello,
the best way to get the correct dynamic sort is by using a two digit month in your conversion. for example
    totext({table.datefield}, 'yyyyMM')

  • N95 8GB SMS contacts display

    Hey all
    (be nice, im new )
Just got my n95 8GB today and it's awesome, but i'm having trouble with contacts in the inbox -
what happens currently is when i get a message in it displays last name, first name - ie Smith Bob, instead of Bob Smith
Does anyone know how to change this so that it doesn't happen?
I've tried changing the settings in the contacts list but it doesn't seem to help.

There is no setting for it unfortunatley...
The best way to cure this if it really is an issue ( although time consuming) would be to swap the names around in first name last name i.e.
    First Name: Bob
    Last Name: Smith
Shows as Smith Bob in SMS
    Make it
    First Name: Smith
    Last Name: Bob
Shows as bob Smith in a message...
    Good luck

  • Sort order a mess

Sort order in my iTunes library is a mess and it doesn't seem possible to change that. At least not in an obvious manner.
I took care to number the names of the songs within an album: 01 first song, 02 second song, etc. Expecting that they will be sorted by name when getting an album. Not so. The order seems fairly random. It is of course intolerable, that the parts of my opera's are played in anything else than the proper order!
Is there a remedy? How do I get the songs in the order intended?

Yep.  It's out of control.  Like "schitzephrenic nonsense" out of control.
Come on, Apple.  Get it together.

  • Sort order of Imessages and SMS

In previous IOS versions, when you deleted a Imessage or an SMS, the sort order of message automatically changed to last date. In IOS 8.1 the sort order
doesn´t do this, which means that if you delete a message send today and the one before that was sent yesterday, the message is not moved "down" my list and counted as from yesterday it still stays as if it was sent today.
    Could you please fix this.
    Thx (Apple 6 User)

The issue isn't really the T in The Beach Boys. The issue is the inconsistency between the sort in Finder, the playlist sort in the side bar, and the sort within Music.
    1) If you make a smart playlist The Beach Boys, it will be sorted in the side bar under T, not under B.
    2) If you make a smart playlist 409 (containing The Beach Boys' song 409), it will be sorted at the top before the letter A. In Music, it will be at the bottom, after the letter Z.
While this behavior may be of long standing, it is still inconsistent. I think we should be given an option as to how we want to sort numbers and punctuation marks. I assume that the american english sort order is not imposed on other language versions of iTunes. It shouldn't be difficult to allow the sort to match the locale of the computer, so that iTunes sorts match Finder sorts.
P.S. Most of my files are wave files from old records and tapes. I chose to name The Beach Boys The Beach Boys and The Beatles Beatles, i.e., I chose to put one under T and one under B. Only The Band, The Beach Boys, The Who, and The Soul Stirrers were worthy of the extra The, to be sorted under the T's where I wanted them to be (sorry Beatles).
