N95 8GB Movie Quality

Hello,
I have Nokia N95 8GB bought long time ago. It came with the "Spider-Man 3" movie and I used to connect AV cable (that came with the cell phone) to TV and it had a great quality. After a while I have updated nokia by using nokia software updater and the movie was deleted. (I knew that it would be deleted thats not my concern )
My question is, does anyone know what is the format of that Spider-Man 3 movie that came with the cell phone? It definitly was NOT MP4 I remember. it had an different extension.
The reason I'm posting this topic is that, I have used many different software to convert DVD movie files to MP4 but the qulity never been as good as "Spider-Man 3". I mean, I never watch movies to my cell phone, I download DVD quality movies from Internet, than convert to MP4, transfer to my Cell phone and than watching it on big screen TV using AV cables that came with the cell phone.
So, can anyone suggest in details what "configuration" to use when converting the movies for watching in TV? or does anyone know how to convert the movie to the quality I meantioned above (spider-man 3)?
I woul really appreciate your help!
Thanks in advance

isn't it .3gpp or something like that?? looking at a couple of movies on my phone it is.

  • N81 8GB sound quality

    Hi,
While the mp3 player sound quality is great on my new phone, all the other sounds (ringtones, sms alerts etc.) have really low quality. They make this irritating click at the end every time they are activated and you can hear a hissing noise as they play. Is this normal?
It seems to me like the hardware and software depts. at Nokia are not too friendly these days. My phone came with a broken hands free and a back cover that's loose and creaks when using the phone . The OS is the only thing that has been polished to (near) perfection...

You should take it to a repair centre and get the casing repaired under warranty. Unusual wear is covered by the warranty.
been using n95 8gb since 19 dec.me in india also.and i dont handle with care as you said you do,still it like brand new and no issues of paint or anything peeling off.maybe there's some problem with your particular handset.check with a nokia service center.even two of my friends bought it,still no problem with their handset also.that why i think with your particular handset there might be a problem.nokia 8gb rock!!!

  • N95 8gb without spiderman movie

Hi I have juet bought a nokia n95 8gb and was hoping to watch the spiderman movie however the phone did not come with it pre-installed. Can any one help me as to how I get the movie and where to get other movies?
    Regards

There are MANY, MANY ways to convert a DVD movie.
There are complex tools that are shareware or there are very easy tools that you have to pay for them.
I use ImTOO DVD to 3GP Encoder from ImTOO www.imtoo.com because I don't care about having to do many steps to rip the DVD. I just put it and then hit Encode and that's it.
But there's more than 1 way to pluck a chicken.

  • N81/N95 8GB Biggest Marketing Hype Ever from Nokia...

Nokia say N81/N95 8GB is a pure Music/Gaming phone. I had the N81 for 3 Days & I'll tell u straight the N81 sucks big time. Audio quality is poor via headsets n it doesnt stand a chance against N91. but quality of sound via speaekrs is better on N81. N81 can be classed as a gaming phone coz the games look awesome on it
Fink nokia should take off music from their slogan n keep only gaming on ! u would expect nokia to make better music phone as we move into the future but instead der music build quality just keeps going down the drain. If nokia say it is EU Restriction on volume how come Sony Ericsson phones dont have EU Restriction on volume? Its nokia they dont want to make a phone that does everyting All in One so thereofre they limit things on ther handset!
BTW the executive director for nokia was interviewd by the press & they askd if the nokia n81 will have same audio quality as n91 n he said yes but were is the quality gone? wat a lie. Nokia Executive Director/Nokia need to apologise to their customers n compensate those who bought a phone that cann not perform the job as N91 in music!
However finally the N81/N95 8GB are only going to get 2 - 4 firmware updates & that's, it going to become dead like the N93 firmware. where expensive model widout any updates! This is marketing hype by nokia. all der doing is just misleading customers n also adding 8GB wow! on n95 u can bu MicroSD upto 32GB n dat is a wow!
So becarefull peoples! btw me returned n81 back to vodafone.

  • Nokia N95 8GB Album Art and Album Folders Issue

I have been hunting for for a resolution for two issues with the N95 8GB Media Player all over the web.
    1. Adding artwork (CD Covers) to audio tracks (or albums) seems to be at best hit and miss. Most of the time it just does not work.
    2. Deleting an album delete all the tracks but deleting the album folder seems almost impossible.
Well this weekend I decided to try to solve this and I think I may have hit upon a solution.
Since so may people have the same problem I thought it worth repeating. I would stress this has not been exhaustively tested but it does work reliably so far.
I am using Nokia Music Manager 2.0. The fix is simply to convert the files to AAC rather than to M4A (which is the default). After this simple change everythig worked find for me. I can add and delete albums from Nokia Music Manager 2.0 (don't forget to refresh on the phone afterwards) AND reliably add Album Artwork.
So here is how I have been working.
    1. Set the conversion format to AAC. I have been using 'Ultra high' quality setting. Options Menu >> Setting >> Conversion Tab.
    2. Next put in a CD, select all the tracks and choose copy to my collection.
    3. While this is going on I find the artwork on the Web. A simple Google Image search with the album title and artists last name / band name seems pretty 100% to get the on the first page. Download image to My Documents / My Pictures.
    4. Once the CD Rip is complete they will all appear in My Collection. I select all the tracks in my collection for the album in question, and then right click on one of them and select Edit.
    5. I then attach the Album Artwork by clicking on the blue folder and choosing it from my, MY Pictures folder.
    6. Finally select Copy to Phone from the File Menu.
This has worked for me so far 100% and I have done 20 or so albums.
    NOTES:
To get Nokia Music Manager 2.0 I uninstalled the version of Nokia Phone Suite that came with my phone and went to
http://europe.nokia.com/A4144905I (or seach Google for "nokia phone suite"
I chose the N95 8GB downloaded and installed. At some point shortly after install Phone Suite informed me that there were updates available and Nokia Music Manager 2.0 was one of these.
I was originaly using this and suffered all the problems you guys have. After searching the web and finding no solution I decided to do some experimenting.
    Hope all this helps.
PS If you need to delete all your legacy album folders, this is the fix I found on this same site. You can do this at any time.
    1. Enable the option to be able to see Hidden Files and Folders in your Windows Explorer.
    2. Connect your n95 8gb to your computer and choose data transfer mode.
    3. Go to My COmputer >> Nokia Phone Browser >> Nokia N95 8GB >> Memory Card E:
    3. If you have selected Show Hidden Files and Folders (see 1) you should see a folder called Private.
    4. In the Private folder you need to delete the contednts of three folders
    \private\101FFC31 (mpxv1.mpd and pcv5.mpd)
    \private\101f8857\Cache
    \private\101ffca9
In all the 3 folders delete all the files Not the FOLDER
Next time you restart the music player it will rebuild the indexes without the deleted albums folders.
Hope this helps someone. It restored my sanity.

    Album Art
    Basically there are two methods
    Method 1.
You do it on the phone. Load the album art pictures to the memory card. (Must be JPEG NOT BMP)
    Load also the music files.
Open Music application in the phone. Open an album then select Options->Album art then Options-> Add, browse for the picture and select Ok.
    Repeat for each ALBUM
    Method 2.
You do it on the PC.
Get a Tag editing software like Tag&Rename, WINAMP, etc.
Edit the files Metadata to include Album Art picutres (again they should be jpeg and also they should be set as Cover Front).
Transfer the files that have Album Art using File transfer (usb mass storage) don't use MTP or PC Suite as these methods may convert the files and Album Art will be lost.
Or you can continue using your Method

  • N95 8GB Rotate

    All,
I just updated my N95 8GB to version 20.0.016 and now have the 'Rotate' feature as standard.
But I can't get it to work. I have set 'Rotate' to automatic in display settings but the screen will not move.
I suspect that the firmware has shipped without the accelerometer plugin. Can someone confirm that I will need this?
If I do need this then the questions is - why has the firmware shipped without it?

it only can rotate to 2 directions. one to the left and one to the right after u to the left.that's means u can only view it in portraits mode and in a left landscape mode. u can view it in the right landscape mode when playing game and watching video by changing the settings at the game or in the video player that u installed. sorry for my bad English.

  • N95 8Gb phone via 3 with a promotional deal of the...

    Dear All,
I received my N95 8Gb phone via 3 with a promotional deal of the Spiderman 3 movie already installed. Unfortunately the movie was not pre-loaded onto my phone. Your Nokia service team (UK) advised me to contact 3, who told me to contact Nokia. Nokia then told me to contact a Nokia service centre to have my phone flashed at level 3. The service centre said they could not do this. After 3 weeks the Nokia service team then again told me to go to a service centre and pay to have a Level 3 flashed on my phone at my own time and expense. I don't think this level of service is satisfactory.
    Thanks

Your problem is with three, they have either removed the movie from the phone (they often remove or lock features) or are supplying the version that doesn't include it.
N95 8GBs that are supplied with the movie have it pre-installed and are supplied in spiderman branded boxes. It is never supplied as a separate download.
At the end of day it's only a movie, you can buy it for £5 and transfer it to the phone with a bit of free software if you want it that badly.

  • N95 8GB Video Manager "NOT CONVERTING"

My NSeries Video Manager for N95 8GB does not seem to be able to convert any video file. What's exactly happening is that after I've searched a folder and found the video files, whatever video type I choose (whether it's an .avi, or.mpg or.mov file) and select "convert and trasfer to phone" I get a message saying some of the video or audio codecs needed for converting are missing and that I should check the log file for more info. The funny thing is I can watch all those videos I've found with VideoManager, I just cannot convert them with it. What's my problem? Am I missing any codecs, and if yes where can I find them for downloading?

You can be missing codecs, but what I experienced with Video Manager is that it is very buggy. If you know how to use ffmpeg, you simply do not need Video Manager and can convert videos to H.264 formats fast.
I use the following parameters with ffmpeg:
    ffmpeg -y -i "$input" -s 320x240 -async 1 -vcodec libx264 -b 200k -maxrate 384k -bufsize 384 -coder 0 -level 13 -acodec libfaac -ab 128k -threads 2 "$output"
Replace $input and $output with the input and output file paths respectively. Please be reminded that the ffmpeg version should support x264, otherwise it will not convert. After successful conversion, the file can be played by built-in RealPlayer.

  • Advantages of N96 over N95 8GB?

I have looked at the N96 and am wondering what advantages it would really have over the N95 8GB that I currently own. I know that there is more memory and the option to put in a memory card in the N96 but at this point I am not near the limit of my phone's 8GB capacity. The N96 looks a little trimmer but this is at the cost of using a smaller battery with less capacity than the N95 8GB. I understand that there is a potential for watching TV but I have heard that the type of broadcast the N96 is compatible with is not available in most countries (I live in the US).
At this point there don't seem to be enough advantages for me to want to lay out the money to buy the N96 when the N95 8GB works as well as it does, especially as I read about the bugs in the first release.
    Comments anyone?

    At the moment, advantages are,
    Better Screen,
Better loudspeaker quality, but its volume is lower than n95 8gb.
Better overall soundquality in music player(negligeable difference)
And, it has Symbian s60 Feature pack 2.
A little slimmer than n95 8gb and a kick stand.
It has 4 media keys play/pause, stop, forward, rewind on the front panel so its more convenient than sliding the other way.
Besides these, i have yet to find out more advantages(you already said the memory part).
I think you should hold on to your n95 8gb, atleast for now, and wait for a couple of months when there are few more firmware upgrades, as those should iron out the bugs in n96.
On a side note: I didnt see n96 as a worthy upgrade to n95 8gb besides the memory part. So i think you should skip on n96.
wht i heard was that the batt. is the same as the N95 with the same capacity..i've upgraded from an N73 so i'm pretty impressed... just a few stability issues which i hope would be dealt with the new firmware update.

N96 has been on the market for a while now, and I just wanted to know, the N96 owners WHO USED TO OWN N95 8GB, are you happier or more satisfied with N96?
Especially, in gaming, are you more satisfied with N96's gaming experience?
    Thanx.

I'm far from happy with my N96 and wish I'd not bothered 'upgrading'. It's more a down-grade to what can only be seen as a cheap version of the ever so popular N95 and N95 8GB.
I'm not entirely bothered that non of the UK networks support DVB-H but it's the basics where the N96 is a complete let down... Firstly the build quality is shocking, cheap thin plastic which means the battery cover feels like its going to fall off at any second then there's the extremely poor battery life, sluggish text messaging, slow application opening, poor colour quality of the camera - not to mention the old System Error that pops up every now and then (even with up to date firmware) - well worth the £480 Nokia are charging for a sim-free version eh?!
If you do a spot of Googling you'll find thousands of unhappy N96 users!
